Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 9/17

Valerie, we don't use the keypad for our garage door because my husband says those are often a way for someone to get in. We tried to make it work when we first moved here and then my husband said he didn't want to buy another. I hadn't really thought about the garage door opener being stolen. It sounds like your area is a real target for theft. I ordered a freezer seal from Appliance Parts Pros. They are really low cost and fast. I have purchased from them before. It was only $ 17 with shipping and should be here in two days. I don't think it will be hard to do. The only other thing it could be would be Freon leaking. I doubt that. I read that if you can put a piece of paper in the door and close the door, pull it out and it slides right out, the seal needs replaced. It came out easy. I remember our old freezer that we had for almost 30 years would sesl so tight after opening that you had to wait a bit to get it back open.

we have done the door test with a dollar bill. we had one that didn't seal right but from the beginning, first few days it was obvious.

I'm talking about the automatic programming on the rear view mirror, not a separate keypad. our last 3 vehicles have had that, starting in 2009, so I thought that was a 'standard" part of the car. a door opener device is not a separate piece clipped onto the drop down shade that could be stolen. we have a lot of petty theft here related to the indian casino. it is like chumming for salmon.

Good morning,

Still not working out...maybe next week.

Diane Sue, did they call you about your car? I supposed they don't do much over the weekend...except maybe today. That had to be so annoying, starting a workout after thinking about it for a while, then realizing that you had the wrong one.

Valerie, good workouts. I also wonder if the elliptical "steps" are counted. You could do a test and see. I have never heard of a programmable garage door opener in the rear view mirror....we have had 5 Subaru's, from 2008 to 2016 and don't think we ever had one of those.

Carolyn, which French press did you get? The stainless steel one that Diane Sue has?

Keegan has a vet appointment this morning, not sure if I will go...John will take him.

Have a good weekend. :)

Deb I will look in owners manual. My 04 forester does not have it this function. I clip the opener device on the visor. Our 09 truck doesn't either. we don't keep openers in the truck anymore, since all someone has does smash a window, grab a garage door opener, and they can get into your house. ( I edited some things here from early this morning).
The '12 Outback had it, as does the new Forester. it opens the garage door by pushing a button on the lower edge of the rear view mirror. It is then not necessary to carry a separate garage door opener that is easy to steal. You program in a code when you set it up and don't change it unless you need to. There is likely a fancy name for it. The buttons are not big. I think there are 3 buttons you can set for 3 possible doors with different openers.
Subaru calls it Homelink. I just looked in the manual. it is under "mirrors" .... no category called 'rear view mirror" these days. it tells you how to set it up in detail. we use it so we don't have hand held garage openers that can be stolen easily. we did not get the fancy electronics package, no gps or Eyesight package, so must be a basic feature. we don't have a keypad on our garage. Anyway, the older garage opener is the one that doesn't work very well with the new car.

Deb, it os probably good to rest after being ill. I guess i had so many need to do things on my mind yesterday along with terrible allergies andvjust was not focusing well. I feel better this morning. I lost the slip of paper i had written my rotation plans on so was going on memory. I wasnt really feeling the workout anyway. I ended up with my rotator cuff hurting that i had problems with before. I am not d ure why amd it feels okay today. I went lighter yesterday and most of the pushups were on my kneees. I need to make atrip to the vet and pick up more heartgard. I run out two months before the year is up because of the extra i had left after we lost Mudd. My vet is waiting for the approval to open his new clinic. He has a website and facebook and i have seen pictures of the work inside his new clinic. My daughter says he has been seeing some patients at his house. He lives across the street from her. I will have to go to the old office to get the Heartgard.

Valerie, our Lincoln has the garage door opener on the visor. There are buttons there. I remember having them on our Truck under the mirror. My husband brings the garage door opener he carries with his motorcycle rather than leave it in the pouch. He puts it in his pocket and sometimes i will walk outvand the garage door is hanging open. We always keep it closed. I never understand the neighbors that leave theirs hsnging open all day. Then if someone steals from them, what do they expect?

Today's workout was 4 Day split Lower Intensity Step cardio only mix, 37 minutes, 245 calories, heart rate average 138, max 174, 2,986 steps. I also did Fit Tower Advanced Legs, Glutes, Core, core stretch only mix, 19 minutes, 55 calories., heart rate average 99, max 130, 319 steps. Total time 56 minutes, calories 300.

This is a rest day for me. I went to the farmers market and ran some errands this morning. Deb, the brand of french press that I bought is Linkyo. I ordered it from Amazon. I'm not sure what Diane Sue has, but this one was not difficult to clean.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good afternoon ladies,

No workout yesterday. Woke up early but quickly reset alarm. I was just tired and needed the extra sleep. Today I did Cathe's most recent Live which was Jabs and Abs. I did not do the Abs only the boxing part. :D I then did Jessica Smiths 20 mins arms. Been a while since I have done this. Total times was 62 mins / 436 cal. Bob and I are about to go on a small bike ride. He is really enjoying riding and has been riding during the week without me. I love it!

Deb...always good to start up when you are feeling better. Hoping Keegan does well at his appt.

Carolyn...we have a farmers market here but it is only open on Fridays so I never am able to get there due to my commute home. I must have deleted that email I received aboit the apple update. I have not updated my devices yet. Going to wait as long as I can.

Diane Sue...I hear you about taking way to long to figure out what workout to do! Sometimes I drive my self crazy. I like SB's rotations because it takes the guess work out. Her's and the BBS rotations seem to be the only ones I actually finish so going to start up with BBs on Monday and will add in SB's Fall rotation when she posts.

Judy...I just renewed my annual SB membership yesterday. Hard to believe I am going into year 4 of her streaming.

Valerie...great ride yesterday! We bought some nice locks for our bikes and I needed new handle grips for my bike. I figured out my bike is 24 years old. It still rides like it is brand new but I am a little uncomfortble riding. Guess in 24 years my body has changed. If we continue to ride I will upgrade mine next year as I certainly got my money's worth! :)

Have a great night all!

Oh while working out to Cathe this morning my husband actually called me a Cathlete. He made me chuckle. :)

Carolyn, this is the French press I bought. I think they all work pretty much the same way. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015WVJMBE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It seems like there is a lot more variety for the stainless steel French press coffee makers than when I purchased.

Lori, sometimes we just need a rest day. That is nice that you like your subscribed workouts so much. I am not very good at sticking with one instructor. I guess I like a lot of variety.
