Where do I begin? Need some advice.

Hi! I can't say as I was a total beginner ... but I was in awesome shape about 3-4 months ago ... and then some changes in my life took me away from my regular routine. Since then I've been running more than anything & the weights had fallen to the wayside. Like you I'm getting back...

    Anyone watching the Biggest Loser?

I'm really embarrassed to say yes. Have never watched reality shows at all but my kids were watching this one night & I was riveted ... like watching a train wreck! The kids & I call that sweet faced black guy "Mooby" cuz his breasts are bigger than mine - he's a doll! Recently worked w/...

    weights before cardio?

Seems to me that this is another "listen to your body" question. I always preface my workouts w/ abworkouts. Many fitness experts will tell you that you should not ... others will say that they always do. Personally I like to get in a 30-45 minute run prior to my weight workouts.

Pure Strength vs Slow & Heavy

RE: Pure Strength vs S and H I have to say that two years of Cathe weight workouts have done more for my form than fifteen years of doing the Firm. I still love my Firms (I'm a Taurus and we're loyal to a fault), however I feel that my lunges, squats, deadlifts - everything - have never been...

    Gym vs. home workouts

Thank you SO much for your responses! I have this tendency to go with what works for me - i.e. Cathe and the Firm - rather than doing a lot of reading (I figure they are the experts & I'm blessed to have found them), so when he says that I am not lifting heavy enough, etc., well I tend to...

    What motivates you?

    >My motivation is kind of weird but I imagine that I run into >a long, lost love at the airport and he recognizes me and I >look even better than I did 20 plus years ago. I know it is >delusional thinking but for some reason it works. I want to be >the best I can be for my age. I also get...

    Tired

Leslie: You've gotten some really good advice here. The month of June I was busy packing to move to a new home, had sold my house, was going through a divorce AND had started a new and very stressful job. During that entire month I simply had to let it go - I did workout 5 to 6 times a...

    Loaded barbell question

Don't be embarrassed! I wondered that one myself. My bar weighs in at 15 lbs. all by itself. While I can go as high as 60 lbs. total when I'm feeling strong :9 , for Cathe's bicep work on ME, it's all I can manage with JUST the bar!

Maybe you should have a Praise Cathe forum :-)

I'LL SAY! God's gonna bless ya, Cathe - because we're certainly all blessed by your workouts. Happy belated birthday! Pam

    Slow & Heavy!!!

Congrats Ruth! I had the same success last summer w/ this series & have begun incorporating it again. I truly saw wonderful definition in my legs (just got Leaner Legs and all I can say is it makes the Firm's SL look like a stroll in the park). Pam:)

    Gym vs. home workouts

Cathe: A male friend and I have been having a friendly argument about the best way to train. He is presently performing 20 minutes of cardio, 3/5 times per week mornings, with intense gym workouts 3-4x per week utilizing the "maximum one rep" style of lifting. He tends to pooh pooh my...
