HRM: Chest strap or no Chest strap???

I use MyZone heart monitor. It's a chest strap and very accurate. I've been using it for about 3 years now. Love it! MyZone

    Shingrix

I have had both shots. I got them several months ago when the new vaccine just came out. (I had the old one too... about 6 years ago). I had no side effects at all with either shot! I felt a bit sore in my arm, but did a workout immediately after getting the shot (both times) with no issues!

Low Blood Pressure = lower calories burned during workouts? Anybody know?

This is me too. We use the MyZone heart rate monitor during our HIIT boot camp, and I am working out at a much higher intensity than most people in the class. My heart rate stays fairly low despite my effort. There are some novices in the class who can reach close to their maximum heart rate...

    Tennis elbow ... workout suggestions

A mace weight looks kind of like a baseball bat with a ball or large end on it. The majority of the weight is in the ball at the end. Because of the imbalance in weight, the mace allows for some very challenging counterbalancing movements that work muscles in completely unique ways. We use...

    Tennis elbow ... workout suggestions

I also deal with tennis elbow. My trainer calls it lifting elbow though, since it's obviously not from playing tennis in my case. He has me rolling my bicep and triceps area. Most pain of this nature is referred pain from another area that is inflamed or strained. It has helped a lot with...

    TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE 8/21/2017 !!!

I'm also very close to the zone of totality. I could travel about 30 minutes north and be totally in the zone. Staying home I'm around 95% I think. I've been doing a lot of reading lately, and many professionals are recommending that one not view the eclipse even with approved glasses. They...

Does anybody know a HRM that works?

I do love it. Sorry if I'm saying the same thing over and over! LOL! It shows up on your phone. If I'm not in the gym with the TV monitors, it's on my phone. It does sync with the treadmills at Planet Fitness, so maybe it would at other places although I can't vouch for that. There is no...

Does anybody know a HRM that works?

I use My Zone. It's incredibly accurate. It uses the chest strap with the monitor attached right above your heart. We have big TV screens at my bootcamp that shows heart rate, effort points and zones in real time. But it also uploads to my phone and shows all my stats during the workout and...

So Confused About What to/What Not to eat

As usual, excellent advice! I have never been where you are, shape or weight wise, but I believe as we age this advice works for all of us. I think you'll be shocked and amazed what a difference you'll see once you get the sugar and processed food out of your diet. Good fats, whole grains and...

    Need to vent a little.....

You just never know. I tell ya, I sure never expected to be widowed at age 58, but it happened. Here I am two years later and doing okay. I wish with every fiber of my being that my DH was still here, but he isn't and I can't change that. The only thing I can do is move forward and be happy...

    Need to vent a little.....

Thank you my dear! You are sweet. The important thing for me is that I am happy being alone. If I don't find someone, it won't be that I feel like something is missing. If he comes along and falls right into my life, that's great, but otherwise I'm happy, healthy, and active, and my life is...

    Need to vent a little.....

Well I am 60 and I am a widow, as I mentioned in a previous post. When my DH first passed, I thought I would never, ever look at another man. He was the ultimate soul mate. We were together almost 40 years. I have to tell you, it has been quite an education about what is left out there in...

    Need to vent a little.....

Well, I am a widow. My husband was very active and not overweight. He smoked for about 35 years of his life though, and that's what ultimately did him in. I never had to worry that he wasn't working out because his job was very physical, so he was fit. One thing I did learn over the years...

    I think I dodged a bullet

I am so glad your prognosis is good. I am sure that has to be one of the scariest things to go through. I always, always get my yearly mammo. Never, ever miss. Your story is a good reminder to everyone that it's not okay to skip. Thanks for sharing your story and best of health to you!

What Time Of Day Do You Like To Start Your Workout?

Very interesting to read what works for everyone. I work out twice a day, 9am and 5:45pm. I am doing bootcamp at a local gym, so those are the times they hold class. There is also a 6am class that I attend if for some reason I am unable to go to 9am. I find that at 6am it's harder to get my...

    I'm Wiped Out!

Hey gratefuldog! I'm not sure if you mean how do I have the time to sleep that much, or how do I sleep that much period! I will answer both ways. :) I am at a point in my life where I don't work, no family responsibilities, and my husband of almost 40 years passed away 2 years ago, so I'm...

    I'm Wiped Out!

This was going to be my suggestion... work on what you're eating. I am 60 years old and I can't even imagine that at 35 years old, your age has anything to do with fatigue. I would figure out what works for you in particular nutrition wise, but eliminating sugar and getting lots of good...

    Agility Ladder Ideas?

I really like the agility ladder. We use it in bootcamp. It's pretty easy to make up most any move and get your heart rate right up there. Do jumping jacks or burpees at the end before you turn and go back.

New "Trendy goal" --/-- Is it realistic? :), Your thoughts

Soooo.... these are supposed to be a measure of attractiveness? I'm baffled! First, I had no idea anybody would want them. And if they have them, I had no idea there were considered a good thing (or a bad thing)... or anything. Just a feature... just like everybody has a different looking...

    Videofitness.com forum

Thank you, you are very kind! I guess my point was that a BMI below 18 isn't always abnormal or underweight. It also doesn't always mean there is an eating disorder. I understand you want to raise awareness regarding eating disorders, but using BMI to decide if someone is healthy or not...
