Lifting like girls

Back and bi day. 4sets of chin ups, 3 sets of pullovers, 3 sets of 1 arm cable pulls, 3 sets dumbbell curls, 3 sets of conc curls and 1 set of ladder curls. Only took about 45 min and even though I dropped weight on the bi stuff, the bis were fried! After back work they are pre exhausted but wow, I couldn't believe how worked they felt! Back to work this morning, enjoy your day Ladies.

Yesterday was Disc 1 Lower Body. Second time doing this one. Did I say how much I love BJ. I laugh out loud with his humor. He's like a frat boy, but he has so much knowledge. He's fun and, I love listening to his humor. Today will be upper body. Can't wait!
I bought a new pour over coffee set-up from Amazon. Love this, and the coffee is delicious. Something to do, while you're brewing delicious coffee. Beats the Keurig!

Nice workouts, Karen and Tom! Seems like you are both enjoying your current routines.

Monday was heavy weight legs with floor Pilates burn out. Today was Cathe's latest Live, which was a step cardio workout. Damn, I love step aerobics. I especially love the brain challenge it is to remember the choreography and how it fits together.

Karen, can you please post a link to this new pour over coffee thingamajig?

Uhhhhhh....nope, didn't do it!! Uhhhhh...... yep, it was leg day! Nope....not proud . but yep.... I will make it up....someday! I knew it was coming because I set a second alarm last night...one of those "just in case things". Tomorrow is shoulders, and I will try to make that. I think the day off was good, because even leg day for me is a trap day with all the dumbbell work and my upper body needed a break. I need a day off once in awhile but strange it is ALWAYS LEG DAY!! I'm not a coffee guy but glad y'all are finding comfort "in the bean"!! Confession over,I will try to live up to the "COMMANDO CREED" in the future. Sincerely Leg Day sinner!

Well, shoulder day today was different. I decided to lighten up the weight and shorten the number of sets but increase the rep range, and, as it ended up, everything was sets of 15. I thought I might treat today and the rest of the week sort of like a deload, not sure long sets is that exactly but I felt worked but not beat up. I did 3 sets of strict press and kept it light, 45x15, 65x15, and 85x15. Next was seated dumbbell shoulder press 40's 2x15, side laterals/front raise dropping to 20's 2x15 (these were tough because it was really 30 reps and I AM NOT an endurance athlete!) I then did 2x15 rear delt flys (40's) and shrugs (90's) 2x15..this was actually a shorter rep range than I usually do but I went slower and held the top position for a count or two. Off to the city today for some car work...and maybe Play it Again Sports, that may be my sub for "crack coffee"! Have a great Thursday Ladies.

Tom, great weight loads today! Looked like a tough endurance workout. What did you buy at Play it Again? Bet it wasn't as tasty as coffee, ha! Leg day on Saturday. We'll hold you to it, and I can do so without hypocrisy because today was Leg Day #2 for the week. My hamstrings were sore going into it so it was tough but I survived. Yesterday I brutalized my upper body.

Gonna be MIA a few days. Lots of back to school stuff. Time for Kindergarten! And no, not for me, you smart a$$e$, but for my DD1. :)

Arm day, longer, lighter, DEFINITELY not a deload! I started with tri pushdowms 3x12/ ez bar curls 3x12, skullcrushers 3x12/ dumbbell curls 3x12. crossbody tri's 3x12/ conc curls 3x12 and finished with 1x30 tricep pushups/ 21's. I have had some tendonitis in the right forearm but it is more tennis elbow, not medial like before and not bad, but I am hoping lighter will keep from stressing it as much. I went lighter but did sets of 12 in all except ladder curls (30) and 21's (self describing). I FEEL like Arnold(I did NOT say LOOK like Arnold lol!!) Always feels good to do arm day...dunno why, just does! Lisa, good luck with the young un and school...I know ya gonna cry but it is ok! At the risk of losing my "guy card" I did when I took the kids to college.....just a little (I will deny this if asked!). Karen, you still killin it? DW and I are heading to Omaha tomorrow. She has a cousin who is having his (their) 70th wedding anniversary!! I am going but going to meet a friend at the casino in Council Bluffs and we will meet DW after the festivities. I haven't ever met any of them so I get a "get out of jail free card" YAY! Have a great weekend Ladies!

Hey guys! Yesterday was another butt blaster from MetaShred. And, blaster is an understatement. Today, is upper body. However, I just finished mowing the lawn, and evidently I let it get to jungle status, kicked my butt. Soooo...... I think I will do upper body tomorrow along with abs and some mobility work. That's about it. But, I just heard on the radio that in Idaho Falls, Idaho, hotel rooms are going for $500 a night. Will be able to see a full eclipse there, and people are flocking there from all over. Grocery stores and restaurants are stocking up. Maybe a four hour drive or less, from my home, but......I think I will stay far away. Lisa, any plans to make a short trip to Idaho Falls? How 'bout you, Tom? Nope, didn't think so!
Have a great week-end!!!! Later!

Ugh, Karen, we're staying home. I get it, the eclipse is cool, but we are being overrun by people so the short drive could actually take about 15 hours with traffic, according to the state transportation dept. No thank you! The roads are already bad as of today, even where I am at. Plus just my luck my DDs would take off their glasses and look right at the sun...geez, I just can't risk it!

Holy moly, great workouts! Tom is channeling his inner Arnold...gotta say that I lived in CA when he was the Governator...and Karen, butt blaster sounds awesomely hard!

Today I did Cathe's 100th Live from last year which is Kickboxing plus some cardio and metabolic weights. So fun, got inspired to do this by someone else on the Forum here who did it for the first time yesterday.

Tom, safe travels. Don't blow all your cash on Black Jack, ok? Ha! Karen hope your weekend rocks!

Dumbbell leg day (yes, I DO know WHO the dumbbell is!). I did 6x8 dumbbell squats using 40s 50s 60s 70s 80s 90s, 3x8 static lunges (50s) 3x12 sumo squats (90), 3x25 dumbbell calf raises (90s) 3x20 single unweighted calf raises and for abs, 2x10 hanging knee raises, 2x20 cable crunches and 5 min of side planks (x60x45x30x15 each side alternate). My guilt is improved since I did make it up...paying the "slacker price". I hadn't worked abs since last week and it felt good (sort of) to do some work there. Off to Omaha to lose my retirement!! (I'm way to cheap for that to happen). Enjoy the weekend Commandos!

I have decided to take a deload week and since I don't really have a clue what that means, I decided to define it as follows......NO SETS TO FAILURE! My joints, especially shoulders, have felt a little beat up lately so I decided to try a week of less intensity....but not sure it was a great start. I still did 23 sets of chest and tris, but never tried to approach failure. I did sets of flat bench starting at 45 to warm up,then 115-195 in 20# increments, dropping to 1x8 at 155 and 135, flat flys (40s) x12 x10, dumbbell inclined bench (60s) 3x10 (I hadn't really done these for awhile and they seemed much easier on my shoulders than oly bar inclined bench...will have to incorporate these), inclined flys (40s) 2x10. For tris, I lightened and shortened a bit 3x8 pushdowns, 2x8 skullcrushers and 2x10 double arm kickbacks. I didn't go near fail anywhere but not sure it was a deload either...o well. I will try to "curb my enthusiasm" the rest of the week. Hope Monday finds all Commandos healthy and with no retinal damage!!

Tom, lol, nobody deloads like you! No blindness here. Watched on TV. It was cool. It definitely got dark outside but not quite pitch black. Hope you enjoy the sun and moon show!

Saturday was UB and today was a killer legs day.

Karen, what's going on with you? Anything fun with Metashred?

Deload continues..... sort of. Today was back and bi and I did back the weights down but NOT really a deload.... oh well..chin ups x8x5x8x8, deadlifts (lighter) 4x8 (2 conv 2 sumo), 3x10 pullovers and 3x8 1 arm cable pulls. For bis, 3x10 dumbbell curls, 3x8 conc curls and a finishing set of ladder curls with the oly bar.( these are great finishers..I could smell what tslop was cookin!!) We drove about 35 miles south of where DW does water aerobics and the skies cleared and we got a GREAT view of the eclipse! It was totality here and was really spectacular...probably wont be around for another so it was fun! Do your day with style my friends!

Well, I'm a little absent these days. The electrical system in our house is all messed up. I thought all my appliances were just breaking down. Nope, low voltage, and out at the meter was so hot it burned all the insulation. Glad we didn't burn down the house. So we got a permit from the city to do our own work, and we will be working on it this week. Had Rocky Mountain Power here to shut it all down, and so here we go. If I post next week, with most of my hair missing, you will know that these electrical engineers, don't know what they're doing. Just kidding, we do. Later guys!!! Have a great week!

Karen, sorry about the e issues, but I'm pretty sure you guys can handle it. We too are glad you didn't burn the house down! It seems like a lot of fires are electrical...glad you weren't one of them I am taking DW to the airport today and the 70's called....they want their hair back! I guess I will try to get sheared too. I did get leg day in however (and the trumpets play). I did 3 x8 barbell squats (I bought some knee wraps at Wallyworld, but they are pretty uncomfortable and it seems hard to tuck..may try some ace bandage clips) and finished squats with 3x8 dumbbell squats. Next were 3x8 dumbbell rev lunges, followed by barbell calf raises x30x25x20 and 2x16 dumbbell sumo squats and 2x25 single calf raises (unweighted). I finished with abs, crunches x50x30, hanging knee raises 2x8 and cable crunches x40x30. Lisa, how goes it? Week is almost half over...may the downside be the goodside!

Tom, you are so wacky. It's great! Thanks for the chuckle reading your post.

Karen, what Tom said...so glad your house wasn't burned to a crisp. How scary! Any idea how or why the power went wonky? So frustrating, hope it's an easy fix that requires zero hair pulling.

Can't remember when I last posted so I will go back to yesterday which was an OLD school Cathe DVD, Circuit Max. Gotta do the DVDS every now and again to justify the "investment". Today was YouTube Shelly Dose upper body.

So, things are crazy here. My 4 month old has decides he's too grown up to sleep during the day and he's also decided that rolling over is his number one life purpose. Roll roll roll. That's all he does. Then he gets stuck and gets upset, Mom comes to the rescue. Then right back to more rolling!!! Plus why does school require so much parent homework? Sheesh, and it's only Kindergarten! I'd better buckle my safety belt for a wild ride
