Good morning! Thanks for you kind comments about my workout room!

My husband researched the flooring before we did this project. I'd been working out on carpet over concrete (ouch -- the knees!) for years in our previous house. I didn't like the way carpet restricted movements (pivots, for example), and the lack of "give," even though it was thick carpet and padding.

The flooring we chose for the cardio area is a a engineered hardwood over a floating system (on a raised grid) with cushioning under the flooring. The floor has a maple finish (light color) -- similar to what Cathe uses in her sets. The sub-flooring helps cushion the shock of high impact and gives you a little extra bounce (unlike carpet).

The floor is easy to keep clean -- I use a steamer with plain water and a microfiber pad. The one thing you do have to watch out for is that the floor will dent it you drop a weight on it. I replaced all of my iron with rubber-coated weights and weight plates.

In the other half of the room, we used rubber flooring. My DH lifts over there and we have a couple of cardio machines and a big weight machine in the corner (I don't think you can see it in the pictures). We felt that it was a better choice for that area, and was less expensive.

I hope this was helpful for you. Let me know if you need more info!

I remember last Fall seeing this new blog option at cathenation.com and feeling excited. I could try being more personally revealing, online, for free.

It felt scary, but I liked it. Very satisfying.

Those posts here, prompted my move to a new website and an evolving focus in my consulting business for 2009 and beyond...
More about the wake up eager journey, less about the corporate world.

So far I've created:

So, over the past two weeks – I’ve been ‘struggling’.

I use the word 'struggling' word hesitantly. When I step back and look at things I am a bit ashamed of myself for feeling this sort of struggle. I have so many good things going on…great husband, I’m healthy, I love my work, financially things are good, I feel at home in my home, I have caring friends and I’m interested in a ton of things…there’s some good things going on around here.

Truly in the scheme of things,...

I haven't written here lately - but have been thinking about it alot. I like doing this and want to get back to it.

Been very focused on work and my nephews. The oldest, Sammy (23) was in town this week - and he's doing great - happy to see that he's feeling more hope and moving toward waking up eager...

Since I have limited time to write here today and since this is a place for me to track my Wake Up Eager thoughts, and since my nephews are on my mind, I thought...

He was gracious, interested and interesting as he described how the association he developed helps consultants build and expand their businesses. I listened and feigned interest because he was so sincere and obviously passionate about what he's doing.

I wrote the date of his next association meeting in my calendar, agreeing that I would “be happy to attend” as I was thinking and feeling that I was not interested at all in the association or in attending this meeting.

I've not written in a week. Kind of missed putting my thoughts here... Here's a some fun - a dog and cat pet diary. My dog, Oscar, teaches me how to be happy in the moment and my cat, Felix teaches me how to be connected to the ones I love and my own person - at the same time.

These are fun :
