Hi ladies!

I've made a couple of posts the last few weeks. My husband and I(38 yrs old) are blessed to have 4 children; we love them so much and would love more....

We've tried unsuccessfully for 12 months...my OB has given me a couple of tests: thyroid test(fine), cycle day 3 ovarian reserve test(very good), progesterone (good;probably could be a little better...). I seem to be ovulating (OPK tests are +, fertile mucus, mid-cycle pain, started charting temps..). however, I've always had kind of a short luteal phase, but in the past, that doesn't seem to have caused any problems (our avg time to conceive other babies@7-9 months, with one miscarriage @ 4 yrs ago)....

We may have had a very early miscarriage last cycle (I had a positive preg test, then a couple days later, negative;)

, I'm in the 'waiting' stage for another week before AF is to arrive this month(hopefully not)...my OB suggested I could try a low dose of Clomid to improve ovulatory function, and egg quality(?)a little....

Ladies, would you mind sharing.... when did you decide to see a specialist?

"Melanalyus"(sorry, typo?), I've read some of your recent posts, and it seems like you and i are in similar situations(previous kids, no apparent difficulty getting pregnant in the past). I'm sorry if this is so personal, but how have you handled this? what fertility issues are you struggling with...
again, i apologize with such personal questions, but i don't have anyone else to ask or to talk to about this; I'm feeling really alone...

I'm trying to remain positive ,but I'm struggling...
thank you all !

Hi jeanmarie! Sorry I haven't posted....we've been at DisneyWorld!!!!!!

I"m going to send you a PM. :D If you don't get it, feel free to e-mail me directly at: [email protected]

Feel free to post here....I really don't think anything could be posted that would be too personal. These gals have been here through thick & thin with me....they are my 2nd family.

thanks Melanie!

Oh, Disneyworld is SO much fun....what was you and your family's favorites? We are hoping to save up and go again next year....

I'm clueless - what is a PM?....

I'll send you an email right now...thanks for your help!

God bless,

Hi JeanMarie!

Ladies, would you mind sharing.... when did you decide to see a specialist?

IMO (personal & professional), if you are ready, then make an appointment. The standard guideline for women over 35 is to seek medical evaluation/treatment after 6 months of regular unprotected intercourse and no pregnancy. In women under 35, the guideline is 12 months. However, women who are charting are different.

That said, I was 32 when I saw a specialist after 3 cycles of TTC post-miscarriage. My intuition knew something was "not right", and I was correct. So, I think the guidelines are just that - guidelines - but each woman/couple should be managed individually.
