Default New Here!

First, I have to say that this forum is full of very positive and supportive people as well as great information. I've been lurking here, soaking up information, since before I was pregnant. I've been using Cathe tapes for over two years and love them!

I'm expecting my first baby! I'm a little more than 14 weeks along and feeling great. I didn't feel so good up until a few days ago and haven't been working out the way I would like - maybe once or twice a week if I am really lucky. Usually none. I have started a pregnancy yoga class once a week. I love it!

Now that the nausea is gone, I'm slowly getting back into it. I feel (and look) like I have lost a lot of fitness and muscle tone.

I certainly could use some advice on regaining some fitness safely after taking 3 months off. Should I even expect to be able to regain any fitness or muscle tone in my "condition?" (Don't worry, a negative answer to that question will not keep me from exercising.)

Cindy

Default Hi Cindy!

I am sure that you can gain some benefits in your fitness program but I'll leave that to Sheila or someone more educated in the pregnancy field! I just wanted to say Welcome and we are glad that you joined us. Also congratulations on your pregnancy! How exciting. I am glad that you are feeling better. I can relate with the nausea. I had it with both of my pregnancies morning, noon & night for 9 months!! So, count your blessings. (My daughter is now 27 and my "baby" is 22!)Again, we are glad to have you here and I know someone will pop in to help you with your fitness question.

Default While I was pregnant-

I did the FIRM Basics (well, not the abs and hips one- too much modifying), and found them to be great for working back up. I am certain that if you listen to your body you could do lower impact earlier Cathes, as long as you keep your step low and stop when you need to. I also particularly like FIRM V6 and Fat Blaster while pregnant.

And yes, I did build up strength while preg, as well as cardio (but that one is much harder to notice, as things get tougher all the time).

Good luck, and don't beat yourself up. I never got in all my scheduled workouts in the first trimester.

Default Welcome Cindy!

This IS a great place. I just got finished reading the induction thread. Anyway, I just started working out again at 17 or 18 weeks. I am almost 20 now and still feel a little icky at times. I am taking things very easy, but still get a good workout since I've lost so much. I'm glad to hear that we will make some gains though! Good Luck, and I'm glad you are feeling better.

Default Hi Cindy!

Hello and welcome to our "forum family." In answer to your question........... Yes, you will see some benefits. In fact the research points to exercising in the latter half of pregnancy in order to reap the most benefits from exercising while pregnant (i.e. less medical intervention, decreased overall weight gain and fat retention, length of labor [especially the pushing stage!], etc.).

Keep in touch!
