Woe is me....I busted my knee

Wow, that totally rhymes!

Anyhoo, I was doing 4DS Bootcamp yesterday and during the first interval all of a sudden I feel the worst pain in my right knee--like a shocking twinge that left me almost breathless and on the floor.

I have been having knee problems for the past year and have been wearing knee braces when I do cardio but for some reason forgot to last night. x( And now I'm facing the consequences. I can barely walk today. I'm so depressed. I guess it's time to get a gym membership again so I can use an elliptical and/or pool. Man, I'm so bummed. (Not to mention in a lot of pain...:()

Poor Allison! Dang, I bet you are bummed. :( Hopefully a trip to the doctor is in your future...hint hint. Take care of yourself! Hope you feel better....

Oh, Allison, I'm so sorry! You might want to see a doctor, to make sure you didn't tear a ligament or something else totally awful. And now you join the ranks of the walking wounded... well, the barely walking, in your case! Take care of that knee.

Oh Allison, I am so sorry! Take it easy all this week and RICE!!!! Hopefully, it is just a lil' inflamed. (love your ryhme! :7)

Allison! Hugs! I blew my knee out Saturday. Fortunatly, the doctor thinks it is just a sprain. I didn't have the severe pain you are having though. You really need to see a doctor to tell if it is a ligament tear. Good luck and let us know. I think all of us lower-body-resters need to ask Cathe for an upper body rotation while we heal.

Sorry about the knee Allison. I agree with Robin and the upper body rotation. I think I broke my toe yesterday. Clumsy me missed the doorway and stubbed my toe. It is swollen and black today. No w/outs for me either except upper body. Funny, I was just braggin the other day that my body is back to 100%. The sad thing is that I am just too clumsy for my own good! Hope your knee's not going to be a serious issue for you.

Thanks for all the advice and well-wishes, everyone. :)

I can walk now and have been wearing a brace since I woke up but getting up from a chair or going up and down stairs is incredibly painful--the same pain I had last year when this happened.

The doctor's just going to tell me to rest and ice it and take ibuprofen like they always say. ugh. x(

Guess I'll be doing upper body for a while...

Oh my goodness, Allison, I'm so sorry to hear this! I also think you should go to the doctor & I hope you feel better real soon! Sending you lots of (((HUGS))) & get well wishes...

Oh NOOOOOOOOO! You poor thing! My friend at the gym just had surgery on her wrist & I was trying to be optomistic w/her. She can't do UB for 6 weeks so I told her to just look at this as an opportunity to really get into legs & play around w/her leg routine to see what works best for her. Maybe you can do the same except the opposite. ;-)

And don't worry too much about losing strength. Legs are easy to build back up again. Smaller muscle groups are much tougher. Plus as active as you are, once you recover you'll bounce back fast.

God, you guys are all so sweet!!! *tear* Honestly, I didn't think you all would care this much--I just felt like whining!!

Ok, so I just called and have a Dr. appt. at 4:30 today. I'm telling ya--they're just going to tell me to rest and ice, but since you all said to go, I'm going... ;)

Oh Allison, I'm so sorry. I'm glad you got an appointment with the doc--I wish I'd gone to mine sooner after my ankle injury. If I had maybe it wouldn't still be a problem months later. I hope this turns out to be minor and you're back to crazy stepping soon. I just love seeing your big smile and crazy steps on Tracey's videos. ;)

Sounds like an ACL tear, I did that and it hurts like hell, I am so sorry sweetie. Glad to hear your going to the doctor. Please keep us updated! And make them give you good drugs;)

>Sounds like an ACL tear, I did that and it hurts like hell.

Really? I'm walking alright now--it's just getting up from a sitting position (i.e. my desk, car, toilet--too much info, I know....;))or going up or down stairs that hurts badly. God, I hope it's not an ACL tear. I can't bear to think of the next couple of months without Cathe....

Allison,

I an glad that you are going to the doctor. Be sure to let us know what his advice is. I totally understand how you feel. Just thinking about how long you will be off from working out, can drive one crazy! You are such an inspiration! I call you the energizer bunny - I absolutely love watching you in Tracey's new step workout. You are always smiling and laughing.

Hopefully, just RICE for the next few days and all will be well.

Good Luck,

Cheryl
