UGH pull up bar dilemna

Cathlete
well dh bought me a pull up bar. i started getting it up in the doorway he complains NO the doorway frame is hollow. okay he starts setting up in the space between the hallway and the bathroom(small place we live in LOL) but problem if i try to do a pull up/chin up my head will hit the low ceiling. can't put it any lower b/c dh will hit his head on the bar LOL(although in theory i can remove the bar).

i think it will be fine in the door way. now he has holes in my hallway and my apartment looks worse then it did before. gotta make a run to home depot for plaster putty.

do ya think i should put it in the doorway or try lower in the hallway(although the hallway would be inconvient for those needing to go potty LOL)

Oh, what a bummer! I have the Beachbody pullup bar and I love it! I never even used the attachment screws that it came with. It just slides into place over the doorway & that's it! My 180# dh uses it too and it's very sturdy!

Hope your dh can get yours fixed so you can use it soon! Pullups rock!

'kay we figured it out LOL. we have it in hallway. it does come down LOL me don't read instructions well. the worst part was trying to line it up perfectly LOL.

he didn't really search all the options. he never does, he just hears what i want and goes for it. he really does mean well but i think this will workout now. he also got me an ez curl bar. that make 4 barbells LOL.

i though it was too b/c all these metal parts were coming out of the box but once i got it up he showed me how it came down. only the brackets are in the wall. now i have A LOT of work to do LOL. i couldn't get past 1 1/2 pull up and couldn't even do a chin up :-(

Kassia...sounds like you have one similar to mine. I've been using it with the P90X+ workouts and MAN! LOL! I have a lot of work to do also. Mostly, I've been using my high step with a couple of risers to cheat and it's STILL hard...but I really, really feel it...it's good for hanging ab work too...those seem (a little bit) easier to me than the pull-ups, which are just gosh-awful hard! :)

I was the same way when I started... could not even lift myself an inch. Use a chair to help assist you over the bar & then slowly lower yourself back down. That will really help you gain the strength to do full ones!! Glad that you got it installed ok!

thanks for the idea. i do have quite a bit of risers and a high step.

terry i agree that for some reason the hanging leg raises are easier then the pull ups. so weird LOL.
