Soy Protein

Hi Everyone,

I started taking a soy protein powder once a day and I've been SO depressed for the last week. Well, I went online and read that soy protein suppresses the production of endorphins and can have this effect.

Does anyone else have this problem? What kind I do to offset it? I've finally found a protein supplement that my stomach can handle so I don't want to stop. I already take a multi-vitamin.

I personally steer clear of soy and use the ionized/casein whey protein products.BSN Lean Dessert is a fave, along with PVL protein.
 
I highly recommend hemp protein instead of soy. It has an excellent amino acid profile and contains types of protein that are easily assimilable, it's also far less processed than most other protein powders. Nutiva is my favorite (for taste).

Pea/rice blends are also good, and may be something your stomach can handle.
 
I don't do soy either, as it is so gmo'd these days. I use Jarrow Natural no flavor and steer clear of artificial sweeteners as well. The Jarrow I believe has some stevia in it. Fish oil works great for mild depression too.
