Hi.

Did everyone get the newsletter yesterday?? I didn't get it for some reason, and that is unusual. Is there some way to find it on the site?

Thanks Bonnie,

it's just strange that all of a sudden I am not getting the newsletter. I tried signing up again and it came back and said I was already signed up.

Not getting Newsletter

Could be many causes, but first let me explain how a "bulk mail" lists like our newsletter work and how it is different than just a single email that everyone sends out all of the time.

When we send out our newsletter we have to use a registered mail list server provider that follows international rules and standards. We use a company called Mail Chimp. Because our list is large when our newsletter goes out your and every ISP's defense system is activated thinking that this might be a spam attack or a denial of service attack. It helps using a trusted mail list provider like Mail Chimp, but still every newsletter is scored based on numerous things, i'e, title, number of links, spam words like (sale, pre-sale, buy now, Viagra, etc). If the score is too high your ISP may reject the email without you knowing it, but here is a complete list of possibilities:

1. The most common reason subscribers don't see your email in their inboxes is because it's landing in spam folders. Even permission-based lists, like ours, can fall prey to aggressive spam filters, which we estimate block 10-20% of email from subscribers' inboxes. Solution - Add our newsletter to your safe sender list in your email and also to your email contacts. And check your junk mail.

2. Your mail box is full - Obviously if your mailbox is full you will not receive our newsletter. Mail Chimp will attempt delivery 5 times, but if unsuccessful by rule they will permanently delete you from our list.

3. Firewall - Your firewall may be blocking you from receiving our newletter. If this is the case you will need to whitelist us in your firewall settings or if this is a business email address you will need to contact your IT department.

4. You accidentally marked our newsletter as spam. Unfortunately, if you did this there is nothing we or you can do. By law Mail Chimp must remove you from our list and we can't ever add you back. Your only solution is to re-register using a different email address.

5. Your ISP thinks our Newsletter is spam and blocks it without you knowing. Adding us to your contacts can help to prevent this, but you can also try contacting your email provider for assistance.

6. Vanishing Emails - Sometimes email just doesn't make it to its destination for some unknown reason.

If none of these help just contact our customer support and make sure to include the email address you subscribed with and we can see what mail chimp says is the reason you didn't receive your email. This is sometimes helpful and sometimes not as some reasons are too vague to be useful.

SNM: thanks for the reply. I know the e-mail is not in my junk folder or spam...not sure why after all these years with the same e-mail address, nothing has changed that it did not arrive. The only thing different is the change of your server. Could that affect it?

I will see what happens the next time before making anyone have to research etc.

Thanks again,
