Default Has anyone done TRX training?

I'm going to a TRX suspension training class tomorrow....looks like fun and something different. I think it will challenge my core really well. My spin teacher (who teaches the class) was showing me a move that was very plyometric, too.

Anyone here tried it?

What is TRX Suspension Training? What is Rip Training? | TRX
Yes, I actually teach 2 classes a week. It's a great way to train and to change up your routine. A lot of core work is involved, it's used in every move. You absolutely can get in cardio with the TRX too. I find the most challenging moves are those ones done on the floor though. Anything in plank position is really challenging! Have fun, good luck!

Ha, core, that's exactly the kind of work I need! I've been getting a little stronger (finally! Maybe from LIS?)....and now I want to really improve. That and chest. Thanks for the info!

Yes! I love it. I got the system for my home gym & have used it a couple of times, had fantabulous soreness, esp. in my obliques, for 2 days after.

I've actually scheduled a session w/one of my club's PTs this Saturday b/c there is something of a learning curve to it (exactly what level the handles should be for which exercise), but so far I think it was a great investment & I'm looking forward to learning more.

Oh, & I'm also having some trouble w/my feet slipping on my home gym floor for some of the exercises. I'm not sure what the problem is. I mopped the floor & still having the same trouble. I might have to scrub it, or maybe wrap my sneakers in some kind of light adhesive. But that shouldn't be an issue at your club.

Have fun with the class & please let us know your thoughts.......

Did the class yesterday and it was fun!

We started the class with a warm-up and barbell leg work. Then my instructor set it up in a circuit, so for each of the TRX straps - about 8 in a row - there was a sheet of paper with an exercise/illustration. For one minute you would do the exercise (tri extension, chest press, squats...) and then she had other non-TRX stations as well (jump rope, mountain climbers, pushing/sliding this big heavy metal thing back and forth across the room - I'm sure there's a name for it!).

I do see what you mean about the learning curve - she's going to show me some more tips next week. Also, I had to remind myself that the bands/straps are not elastic - so you use them to pull your body weight, not to stretch the bands. Some moves were difficult (the tri extensions!), while others were easy - I felt like I was assisting myself too much on the plyo squats, pulling myself up with my upper body.

My traps and upper back are a little sore today, but nothing else. It was nice to be in a class setting, but I don't know that all the stations were "fun." Well, and maybe the ones I liked the least were the non-TRX stations .... not a big rope jumper! But I may give it another go, now that I see what we're doing.

Thanks for the feedback!

My spinning instructor also teaches TRX (are you in my class?!?) I take a class once a week on a non-spinning day- it really kicks me in the gut when I do, I get abdominal DOMS like nothing else. Last time I did it, my arms really were sore. It is different, I like the cross training effect of it.
