Default food combining?

I was reading some of the other posts about nutrition and was wondering if anyone is into food combining? I've read several articles about it recently and was wondering if there's anything to it. Thanks!

Default Food combining

The food combining theory actually was introduced quite a while ago. There was a popular book about it, I think it was called "Fit for Life." After doing some research on it, the consensus seemed to be that there was no evidence that food combining does any of the things that people claim it to do. Personally, I would never tell people to eat one way or the other, I think the important thing is to eat a balanced diet (more fruits and vegetables and whole foods). However people want to combine the food is personal prefence. But for most Americans simply eating a balanced diet is hard enough than to throw in food combining principles.

Default I am...

well lets just say I try:O) I try not to combine protein and starches...no meat and spuds together and I try to eat fruits alone. Thats pretty basic of what I do, I also try to work whole foods into my diet more and more. This started more from sleep and skin problems then a fitness issue for me. I went to a Naturopathic doctor for nutritional counseling and she revised my whole thinking (and habits) about food. I now sleep better and am able to control a very bad skin problem on my hands:O)....everyone is different though..so what worked for me may not for you...I spent an hour just talking about habits and daily routine before she suggested anything...also had complete blood work done that indicated what I was lacking. When I do follow her guidelines...there is a big difference with how I feel. One really good book on nutrition is "Staying Healthy with Nutrition" by Elson Haas, M.D.

It is fascinating on how the body works and processes foods.

Good Luck,
Nancy

Default Food combining

Nancy, I just started with this new way of eating. I have major problems with bloating and looking 5 months pregnant (smile) when I combine starches with protein. This is working for me and I am less tired.
