All Step

Hey ladies,

I am doing a ctx rotation this month and have yet to try all step. It's scares the pants off me but it's coming up in my rotation really fast!

My question is: What Cathe step work out, in your opinnion, is the logical predasessor (spelling??) to All Step? Meaning, if there are moves in there that are unfamiliar to me that she doesn't really explain in All Step, what video would be best for me to learn them from? And then lets just hope I have that work out!!! lol

TIA!

Have a great work out!

Wendy, ALlstep is not that hard. don't be scared. if you do the newer ones, you will know all those moves already.
the only thing that i can think of that isn't on the newer videos is the first little step combo, and it's only in the beginning. pay attention to the words she says instead of trying to follow her with your eyes the first time through. that is how i got it so quick. hope this helps

Hi Wendy,
All Step is the only workout that I have of Cathe's and I LOVE it! It had to go through it twice before I finally got the hang of it. Dont worry, you will do fine. My suggestion is to watch it and kind of do it first without using the actual step, just so you can get an idea of the footing. I've just ordered the rest of the CTX series and am very excited for their arrival next week! Have fun!

Jes and Darcy-

Thank you both for the encouragement and advice. The more I do Cathe's step work outs the better I get at picking up the unfamiliar moves so I may just fair better than I am thinking! I will watch it one time thru and "practice" the unfamiliar moves before I truly try do it. I guess if I get totally lost I'll just march or do basics through the confusion...I am no stranger to that! lol

This particular work out intimidates me I think mostly because she jumps right into it so quickly-she doesn't "ease into" the harder steps like she tends to do in other videos...

Well, thanks again, ladies! I think it's on the schedule for the end of the week! Wish me luck! :)

Have a great work out!

Well...To my surprise All step was LAST NIGHT! Oh my!!! lol
So I just jumped into. I had no time to "prepare" coz I didn't check my rotation schedule until I was ready to go!

I only got through about 1/2 of it coz I ended up not feeling well-but that's another story....So I did some definate "HUH?" and moved around aimlessly with my mouth hangin' open    at times. lol Somehow to me it seems much more confusing then anything I have done thus far.

Jes-you had mentioned that if I had done Cathe's newer stuff Allstep's moves would be familiar. Unfortunately the new stuff I have done so far is Basic Step and Body Fusion ;( -I don't think that helped! LOL I just rcvd the Body Blast series in the mail the other day and have only previewed SJP.

So anywho--I'm sure like anything else, practice makes perfect but it WAS a challenge trying to figure out what the heck she was doing at times! Thank god All Step only comes around once per week!:p

Have a great work out!

Hi again Wendy!
Glad you made it, well partially made it through All Step:) I know how you feel about doing it the first time, I was the same way. I think I worked up more of a sweat from jumping around and not knowing what I was doing in comparison to now where I do know what I am doing. Keep at it b/c it will only get easier from here!

Hope you are feeling better too!

I have a more general question about the step. Sort of embarrassed to ask, but here goes:

I do the workouts, but I don't have a step. I'm sort of a spazz and I worry that I'll break my ankle if I have a step. Cathe goes so fast that I'm afraid I'll try to follow what she's doing and twist my ankle coming off the step. DH thinks working out with a step might actually _help_ my balance, but I don't know.

Does anyone have suggestions or encouragement?

I'm relatively new to Cathe but am able to keep up for about half the show... Definitely making progress tho!

thanks,

Stephanie: i have the original club step and i use no risers b/c my fitness level can't currently handel it. i have heard some suggest that those who don't use a step cold place a towel on the floor where a step would hypothetically be. when you use a step, you have to concentrate more on your foot placement and this extra concentration may in fact help your balance. i suggest you try using a step with no risers and see how you do. with no risers, the step itself is only about 2 in. off the ground. it is possible to slip off and twist something, but i have managed to do that with hi/lo (no step) so you might as well try it.
