I keep seeing the term "metabolic workout" thrown around and from what I can tell on these threads, it means it is a bootcamp-like workout? Or a non-stop workout (few rest periods).
Am I right? Am I wrong? If it is a workout with few rest periods, wouldn't that be considered steady state cardio or just a plain old weight lifting workout? If it is a bootcamp-like workout, would that also include a HiiT-type workout? I am confused! |

Hi Gobias,
There's a wealth of information on this kind of training here on Cathe's site. It would be great for you to read Cathe's weekly newsletters. Today's especially as she explains in detail just what 'Metabolic training" is. Also the one previous from Jan 29th. In this one Cathe says that her 'Afterburn" and " Cardio Supersets" are both metabolic training. HTH you! ![]() |

Hi Gobias!
Metabolic training is any workout that uses compound exercises with little rest between the exercises in an effort to raise your heart rate, burn more calories, and increase your metabolic rate during and after your workout. I have used a form of metabolic training (at least to some degree) in my videos like Boot Camp and Drill Max. |
