?? Re Lateral Delt Raises

Hi, Cathe and Co.!

I have a question regarding lateral delt raises: before discovering La Cathe's strength training programs I always did my lateral delt raises with a long arm. However, several of Cathe's programs perform the lateral delt raises with the elbows bent 90-degrees, and imagining "emptying two pitchers". Are the middle delts working with equal intensity in either position? Or is one more effective than the other, given the same weight load?

I always thought the longer the lever and the further away from the core the weight load was, the harder the work. Yes? No?

Any input would be appreciated!

Hi Annette, just a thought on your posting, I have often wondered about this myself but assumed they both did different things. I have seen both styles done on the same workout.

Hi Annette! As for your last question, yes, you are correct. In the slow and heavy series we mention this briefly on the shoulder workout. We use a longer lever in the slow/heavy workout.
