Question for Cathe or anyone...

I know this may sound like an odd question but if you could only do 3-4 sets of one exercise for the leg and glutes, what would it be? In other words, in your opinion, which exercise is the best overall for leg/hamstring/glute developement. Squat, lunge, step ups or other. For the next month or so I will be sort of on vacation where I won't be able to do "regular" workouts. I am planning on walking for cardio, pushups for upper body and one exercise for lower body. Thanks for any advice.
 
Walking lunges! Both holding some kind of weight and some not (luggage, water jugs, rocks, etc.). These can give you a burn and DOMS like nobody's business!

I wouldn't do just one exercise. I would take those 3-4 sets and break them up as so:
squats (if you choose only 1 exercise, this would be what I recommend)
lunges (walking lunges is a great idea)
deadlifts
1-legged squats

(step-ups are also good: you could alternate doing 2-3 of these exercises on different days, and include step-ups on some of those days).
