forearm soreness during upper body workouts

Hi Cathe -

I have some carpal tunnel in both arms and also one arm that continuously has a bit of tenderness on my upper forearm near the elbow.

When I do the upperbody workouts I notice many times that my forearms are tiring (sometimes painful) before my biceps, shoulders, etc, just from holding the weights. Seems the results end up more forearm oriented than actually working the muscle that I am trying to target.

Any ideas?

Clearly I'm not Cathe but...

It seems I remember hearing Cathe say in one of her DVD's that if you're really feeling it in your forearms (I forget what the exercise was but assume it could apply to all, except forearm work) you probably need to lower your weight on that particular exercise. If I remember "hearing" incorrectly, maybe someone will let us know. I'm thinking I heard this in ME biceps work.


Also, could you be gripping your dumbbells/barbell too tightly? Just a thought.
