You have a fabulous website. Thank you.

Several of us on the "open discussion forum" are doing an experiment adding 2 sets of step ups with 10lbs(more or less) in each hand 3X a week.

When i do step ups on my left i hear a crunchy noise the knee....

i built my step with the 90 degree angle in mind. (would that angle be drawn from the knee cap to the center of the joint in hip? there is alot of room for guessing where that line would be drawn from the topside of the thigh down!)

Please tell me if this crunching is bad, or just part of life. (my neck does it too)

please tell me if the different glute moves develop the maximus muscle differently.... so one might develop more of the top or lift more of the bottom.. or is it all evenly developed?

So do step ups do something special or just the same as sqats?

If crunching knees are bad and step ups are good :

please advise me on what i might do that is just as good for the glutes. ( i do tons of plies, lunges and sqats and kick back extentions too) (My concern is the bottom of the bottom.)
By the way I dont hear noises when i do my squats.

thank you very much for your time in answering.
