Benefits over 45 minutes?

Cathe, So many of the strength training/sculpting videos out there are over 1 hour in length. I don't have an issue with that, but I am getting conflicting info. I have read and heard that working out over 45 minutes with weights does not reap any benefits. I am slowly getting back my toned bod (after a bout with laziness and a crazy job), and am planning my routines. I am using Intensity Strength as one of my goals, yet it seems like I can't get a straight answer from any of my fitness trainer friends on muscle workout length vs. benefits. Thanks!
