Good morning. I just got my STS in the mail, and I of course now need to buy more weights, including a barbell set, before I take this on. I am not a really strong girl ( yet, heh heh ) so my dumbells only go up to 12 pounds. What would be a good starter set of barbells and additional dumbells? Thanks.

You cannot go wrong with the Troy Lite System, the starter set is 40 pounds and you will be using this a lot.
http://www.fitness1st.com/Troy-Bars.html I would add a pair of 15 pound dumbells, but I just bet you will be up to 20-pounders . Sometimes the best buys are off of Craigslist in your area. For micro-loading, you can get the Cathe gloves or get a pair of wrist weights from Ironwear Fitness http://store.ironwearfitness.com/hand-weights.html I love PlateMates for microloading. You can find those on Amazon.com. These would be the basics, of course you don't have to have a barbell, but I think you would need to get a pair of 20's in dumbells to substitute and a barbell offers quite a bit of variation on weight. Hope you have fun! |

DirtDiva said everything I would have suggested! LOVE my Troy Lite and I agree, you might just want to go ahead and get the 20#ers! (if not 25's!!!) STS will have you there in no time!
