When doing the pushups from the knees, do you do them all from the ground? I don't see how you could do them from the bench or the ball but I didn't try. I wanted to try to do them all so I just kept doing them with my knees on the ground.

We actually own a real Power Tower! Had it for about 15 years. I could do a few real pullups but haven't done those either for a long time. I still will probably get a Turbo Tower type thing too because I don't have a rack for bench press type exercises (used to have an exercise bench with one but finally croaked). I have bands that will fit on the door too, that will help me to work towards doing real pullups.

I reason I got hooked on weight training for my legs was that I had so many running injuries. Weight training and biking is what allowed me to have fewer injuries in my legs, when I ran. So I guess that motivation (since I loved to race 5k up to the marathon) was what kept me happy to do weights for legs. Now though, my running days are pretty much over because of the knee injury I had last year.

I don't do any of the pushups from the ball or bench. They are all on the ground. The ones I don't like are the tricep push-ups. I don't feel like my triceps are getting worked out so I just do a tricep exercise in place of those.

I have owned so much equipment in my life. I think it took all the years to figure out what I really enjoy doing. Does your husband work out? Mine doesn't. He was looking at my new rotation and saw "Plyo Legs" and said What's that? That looks scary. I told him I won't be doing those. Too much jumping for this gal.

I hope doing legs will make them stronger. I have no idea why I shy away from legs. I used to do them all the time. I guess it burns alot. I am a baby. Are you doing cardio today?

Jean

Good luck with legs tomorrow Jean! That's so funny your husband thought Plyo legs sounded scary. That one really isn't so bad. Modify, modify modify is my motto when things get hairy!

As far as push ups Mar, I actually liked doing the ones where you have your hips on the ball and push up with your hands on the ground but (and I can't remember if I saw these in STS or somewhere else) there are ones where she has you push up with your hands on the ball and your feet on the ground. I found those totally, absolutely, positively, impossible!! I suppose you need to have amazing core strength to keep your body stable during those (another reason do more core work!). I'm so sorry about your knee injury and that you can't run anymore because of it too, Mar. The dang human knee joint was just not made to last, I swear!

Gotta go...BBL

Jean - Plyo legs does sound funny now that I think about it.

My husband usually runs about 10 miles a day and he does abs and pullup/pushup regularly. But he has a chronic hay bale lifting injury that hampers upper body work. If we didn't have to deal with hay all the time, I guess it'd go away but our horses are worth it (poor hubby).

We just came back from a hike...we live a mile high and have some really big hills so it's a good workout.

cokonkel - I'm very careful to modify things because of my knees. My conformation isn't very straight when it comes to my legs so I was injured a lot and that's why I put so much emphasize on biking and weights even as a runner. Doing that extended my running career. And yeah, the knee is not a very durable joint. Another joint that is very wimpy is the TMJ (temporomandibular joint...jaw joint). And it's almost impossible to repair.

TJ ALERT TJ ALERT they have that synake stuff for $7.99!!!!!!!!!!! I bought one. I can't find an expiration date per say...on the box it says where it is made and then it says 2009. Colleen, do you have one in the box that you can look at and see if yours expires?? Or what the date on the side of the box is. I did read that this stuff is only good for a year. Not sure if mine was produced in 2009 or if that is their trademark date?? Worth a try for that price! I also got some under eye stuff. I have major baggage from my insomnia.
gotta run

Holy crap that's a great price! Wow, I didn't know that about it only being good for a year though...hmmm. I'll have to take a look at my bottle when I get home!

I did Lower Body Blast today! Love that one. I bought it on the Glassboro RT last year. I had only done it once and then borrowed it to a friend for some dumb reason. I love telling people about Cathe but I hate parting with my DVDs. She just gave it back to me a few months ago and get this.....she didn't even do it! Glad to have it back! I'm thinking tomorrow will be a yoga day. Betty- thanks for the suggestion on protein sources. Black beans and quinoa sound really good. I used to always eat greek yogurt for some some reason all I can eat is yoplait now....hoping I can switch back soon. Colleen- Its sad that your midwife didn't listen to your needs. My friend had a bad experience with a midwife too. No way I'm going there.

I did Les Mills Pump Revelution. Finally a workout that is more than 35 mins! I went heavy on the legs. Yowza, they were burning. I almost had to stop! But didn't! My shoulders were screaming too. I really find the workouts fun, but I don't feel my heart rate like I do with Cathe. I was hoping for the best of both worlds, cardio and weights at the same time. Not yet! There are spurts of my heart rate getting up there, and then it just goes down. I guess I am just in rip roaring shape from STS!
I had every intention of doing Cycle Max too, but got lazy! I helped my husband carry the granite vanity top upstairs, and now my neck is killing. I wish I could take a hot bath! The bathroom is not ready for that yet.
Jean, I can't wait to hear what you think of legs tomorrow. I may join you next week. I can't seem to figure out the schedule with the Les Mills. It is basically a total body workout so you can't do it daily. Then again, it doesn't fit in if I do GS either. I need to look thru the paperwork and see what they say about a schedule. I like the abs that they do. It needs to be part of the dvd or else I won't put another one in. Lazy I know!
Colleen I can't wait to hear what your Synake says. Where do you buy yours?

I used to get Syn-ake at WalGreens and before that they even sold it at Wal-Mart for a brief time. Now I can't find it anywhere but on Amazon. I really hope that doesn't mean they are going to be discontinuing the product!

I'm still at work. Phooey.
