Hi, everyone! This is a little off topic, and my apologies to Jerry and Chris for deviating to a girl's subject, but enough people asked me about eyelashes that I thought I'd post the source I know for permanent eyelash extensions.

It's Extend Your Lashes (www.extendyourlashes.com). They're permanent extensions that go on one at a time with glue and a tweezers. You get the set once and then need just a touch up visit every 4 or so weeks. You can't put them on yourself--it takes someone trained to do it--but this individual, Amelia Meneses, is also a wholesale supplier and can maybe make recommendations for where someone could go in their region to get lashes applied or to get trained on how to apply the lashes as a potential home business or spa service.

I've tried to tempt my incredible RT roomie Amy (love her!!) to come out to Utah to get lashes from Amelia herself... maybe it will work? Anyway, I thought I'd pass on the source.

Tanya, I think if you just run a google search on your area and eyelash extensions you'll get some results - or you can e-mail Amelia directly to ask if she is supplying anyone in your area. She's amelia@extendyourlashes.com.

OMG I love it--Cheryl, would you mind sharing the cost? Maybe in a PM if you don't want to post it? And what's maintenance like? Do you ever lose any? Will she replace them at a "mid-month" appt for free if you do?

I'm intrigued. I would so love to toss my tubes of mascara!

LauraMax - These are Utah prices and Amelia runs a little spa in her home, but I paid $285, I think, for the initial set about a year and a half ago and it took about 2 hours.

The lashes stay on pretty well permanently until the lash they're attached to falls out. you do see a couple fall out here and there. I go once a month for a touch up that just attaches more extensionsn to more lashes to keep you going at a full set. If you take good care not to rub or get them too steamed up in the shower the one hour touch up will gradually get the set thicker and thicker. The touch ups I get cost $45 a time.

They're naturally curved.

Amelia says my original lashes have actually gotten longer and thicker since I started because I'm not traumatizing them with mascara or makeup remover any more.

I just do tops. Rarely does anyone do bottoms. Too hard - you'd have to hold your eye wide open to make sure you don't blink and have them glue themselves up to the uppers while they're still wet, heh, heh.

Pricing would just depend on the spa you go to, I think - I don't know if Utah is typical.
If you were serious enough about it someone could get trained pretty easily and then have a good little home business running.

Anyway, I'm hooked. Love them.

UGH I think I have discovered a new addiction. Thanks a lot for sucker punching my bank account Cheryl. I found a place very local that has some special going on, $275 for the application & the first maintenance. After seeing your post I'm thinking it's a pretty good deal.

The only thing that bothers me slightly is the lashes are synthetic. You didn't have any reactions or anything? She said natural lashes don't work well b/c they don't hold curl, but the synthetics are beautiful. I looked at some before/after pics on their website & they really do look gorgeous!

The idea of not messing w/mascara anymore, & also going around without makeup but having those long lashes, is very appealing to me.

Hey Cheryl, you KNOW how I loved your lashes, GF -- I am so tempted to try to find someone in ATL who does this. I'm nervous though -- it would be just like my wonky body to have some giant allergic reaction. Does your gal see that kind of thing happen often? I have a couple of other questions you may know the answer to --

1 -- Are these okay for someone who wears contacts?

2 -- Can you (and do you) wear other eye makeup, like shadow or liner? If you do, Cheryl, what do you use to take off that eye makeup?
