Question Espresso place close by?

Hi!
I like to have a latte in the mornings, and I wondered if there is a good espresso place close by--walking distance? Or maybe the restaurants in the hotels make tasty lattes?

A couple of years ago, I was in the Cherry Hill area, and espresso was kind of hard to find. Everywhere here (Portland, OR), you see a coffeehouse(or 2) on every corner(although some of the Starbuck's are closing down due to the economic situation).

Anyone like lattes?

thanks in advance for the info!

Hi Linda,

My dear, I'm afraid Dunkin' Donuts is about it in that neck of the woods. The nearest Starbucks (per their website) is a 15 mile roundtrip and it's located inside a Target. Peet's Coffee closest location is at the Philly airport....

I don't know how the locals survive! Maybe there's a local coffee house haunt that Cathe and Chris can reveal to us RTers...

The Dunkin' Donuts is right in front of Cathe's Gym (which is located in a "strip" mall). So if you can hold off until we get to the gym in the mornings via the bus....you should be fine.

Hi Joan and Kathy:
Thanks for the info on espresso! Sounds like Dunkin' Donuts might have to be it; we'll see! Maybe I can live without my lattes for a couple of days , but probably not, 'coz Cathe's workouts are going to make me need that extra boost! Yes, Joan, I wonder how the locals survive? At home I have an espresso machine, and can make my own, so I don't need to spend $$$ everyday, although it is a nice treat to get one at a good coffeehouse. I have a Peet's 2 miles from me that I really like(I buy my coffee beans from there, actually), so, I will have to get a drink there at PHL airport going back to Portland. Coming in ,I won't because it will be after 8:00pm and I'll need to get my rest!

When I was staying in Cherry Hill 2 years ago, they had espresso in that grocery store, I think it was called Wegman's(???) and at Starbuck's all in the same shopping center! Also found one at Noah's Bagels. Not sure where Cherry Hill is in relation to where we are staying, but, I'm sure it is not walking distance!

Looking forward to meeting you two.

Hi Ruth--
How did you find out my age? I cannot figure out how to see people's ages. Anyway, glad to see there will be an older one like me around! Okay, now I know everyone is gonna look up my age! But, I am not trying to hide it, so that's okay.

As far as the caffeine goes, I read on the OD forum about "Click", and because there don't seem to be any coffee houses close by to the hotel, I may just try that option. Click is some powdered chocolate caffeine mixture you can drink hot or cold. Or, I might pack some Double Shot or Red Bull cans in my suitcase. I wonder if they would blow up in my luggage on the plane, though?!?!? Anyone know?

The reason I am wanting the caffeine, is because if I am going to be getting up at or 6:00am, I will be adjusting to the time differences. I'm from Portland Oregon, and that will be like getting up at 3:00am. There's a 3 hour time difference! I don't know if I will adjust to this very fast(especially with all the physically tiring activities). I will definitely need some kind of boost or a nice long nap! But, I think I might miss a lot if I take a nap... Anyway, by the time it will take me to adjust to that timezone, it will be Sunday, and time to go home!

Ruth, I will PM you.....

---
Ruth- I just tried to PM you, but, I think you have set your PM options off. Could you PM me if you have time?

Default Starbucks IS nearby

Ladies, there's a Starbucks that's just a few minutes' drive (maybe 10) from Cathe's gym -- we Coordinators have been there several times. I'll try to make sure that we get directions for you all -- please remind us as we get closer to the RT, okay?

No problem about the age thing! I figured out how to look at ages on people.... Also you look great for age, too(you are a bit younger than I am).

To PM means to "personal message" me. You do that by clicking on my name at the top of the post, then a drop down menu appears with the option to send a personal message me. You can try it! That option doesn't seem to work for your account....
And, yes, we can be friends!

Hi Kathy: Starbucks will definitely be a welcome treat for this sleep-deprived Roadtripper! I googled "coffee houses" and there seems to be one around the University. I have no idea my point of reference, though. My latte first thing in the morning will probably be something other than Starbuck's though, because I definitely cannot walk there! (I won't have a car) Thanks for the info!
