Cathlete
Good Morning Huckleberry Friends!
Yes- Thanks to you all I have been playing Moon River over & over & Over in my brain…I even had a BIZARRE dream last night & the darn song was playing in the background! At 2am DH woke me up & said SHUSH or get out of the bed! :+ :+ :+ I was (in my sleep) saying- "Clear the Air- Clear the Air" and waving my hands over him like I was “clearing the air”… I asked him if he wanted to know what my dream was about….(he DID wake me up afterall!) and he said – I Luv you but NO! :+ :+ :+

Today is Barry Boot Camp Cardio HIIT from arms DVD + Ab/Core Plus w/ Tony….I’m sure those 2 will kick my booty!

Last night training w/ DH went well- we did shoulders & triceps…. Shhhhhhh don’t tell DH but I can lift heavier on the same sets I had him do…;-) He is enjoying our training time tho- if it would just warm/up & stop raining we could add in a little cardio too!

SANDRA X:::
Good for you on feeding the family what you eat in PM! Its not like you’ll be poisoning them is it??? :7 Your interactive computer is a little freaky! LOLOLOL- I’d NEVER feel like I could sit in my skivvies!:D ~~ I cant really follow the X Eating Plan as I just don’t do that much animal protein yet I am not savvy enough in Vegan to substitute with anything fancy…. I drink a lot of Green smoothies with about ¼ of the recommended dose ;-) of protein powder… I juice 2x a day usually and then I eat animal proteins as more fillers… I am really staying away from all cheese & milk as that was a major cause of the 6# bloat and recurring sinus issues recently. ~~ DH’s goal is to BUILD MUSCLE of course… so I’m training him to LOSE FAT, of course!;-) He NEEDS to lose BF and quickly & since I cant get him out to exercise regularly I’m attacking it from the backdoor! ~~ Sounds like your current plan is working for you both mentally & physically.~~~~.That’s FABULOUS news!!! I think we were all under a funk cloud that has now passed!!!~whew~

DEBRA X::::
Your B-Day vacation sounds like a commercial for one of those Viagra type pills! :+- Sorry that’s where my brain went…Have you seen the one with the bathtubs atop a hill & they are ready “anytime” :+I WANNA GO TOO!!!! :+~~~~ When do we lose you for the weekend???? Hope DD gets her free day today – I bet she wants to hang w/ mom as long as possible! ~~ What did you decide you’d buy from XDH as his birthday gift to you???;-) ZIPPITY! On your presentation! Well you are just the teachers shining star aren’t you??? WAY TO GO !!!!!

TEDDYGIRL:::
ANXIOUSLY AWAITING the verdict!!! Did she skip her Tony UB last night or did she Push Play????

JEANETTE X :::
So happy WW is working for you right now!!!:7 I think feeling the “little hungry” is good for us once in awhile. Its wonderful you still had plenty of GB Night energy! ^5!!! Obviously a GREAT choice to start!!!:7 ~~ Were you able to really tell you hadn’t done Spinervals in awhile? I’d imagine any kind of change to your riding makes a difference. ~~ :+ on you remembering Wendells wt loss contest w/ my sister! THEY have both been pretty darn quiet about it! Even the daily email ribbing has ceased… I think they got together & figured out it was I that instigated the whole thing! :+ ~~ On your ? about cutting back cardio but needing to ride to ride well…..I agree with Tracy that its about leg work…. If it were me I’d do a month of endurance legs – then a month of muscle building legs then add it all together! One of the up-sides of breaking thru the leg workout mental block for me is this… I know that my major muscles are located in my legs… The quickest way for me to lose overall BF is to increase my leg work- If I focus solely on that factor I can usually get past the dread factor. Thats how my body processes BF at least.

NICOLE X :::
Glad to see your fly by…. Take care!:+

CHRISTIANE::
~~~WAVES~~~~ Be safe & we’ll see you this weekend…. I do believe its perfectly normal for all of us to have “off” days in workouts…It could be the very sign you want that you are indeed busting your tail! :+
LAURIE XX:::
Oh now there ya go…. I’ll have to drag out the original Sabrina VHS!:+ I suppose winter is good time to revisit all- I just love the oldies & specifically Bogart, Bacall, etc… They just don’t make Stars like that anymore. I was born in the wrong era for sure!!! ~~ OMG on your fall! My mind immediately went to last winter & Debra!!! She had SEVERAL bad spills like that…. You be careful & adjust workouts as needed… So glad Cami found her way back with only a few minor incidences! That feeling is so horrid when they are gone isn’t it? :*
CAROL:::
Tracy & I will be happy to review the new Amy’s for all!:* I am so excited about her new ones… I think she has innovative moves- yes a cuing/form pointer issue but I can live w/ that. ~~ Its FINE you cheat on Tony once inawhile! Honestly – the ONLY downside I see to X is that doing the same workout for 12 weeks just doesn’t provide enough muscle confusion for advanced exercisers. The rule is that the more fit you are the more you have to change things up so 12 weeks with Plyo, Core Syn, ARX, L&BX really may not be as effective as a cheat every now & again. ;-)Seriously I believe that.
TRACY X:::
ITA that its nice to have a workout start w/ something OTHER than squats!:D ~ Looks like we’ll be the official Amy Reviewers in the group…. You do the cardio OK??? Lol~~ :+
I really am happy to hear your excitement lately about so many of your new workouts…2007 was kinda a bust for you in that regards wasn’t it? Do you ever re-do the ones you dislike a while down the road to see if your mind /body feels differently?
LEA X::
Gosh I am really worried about your back…:-( You made it sound kinda “not so serious” but after reading all the posts to you I am worried! Will you promise to do exactly what the Dr says???? You are so young to have all this happening. Be careful & be sure & keep all the testosterone in the house settled down!
WAVES & HUGS to all MIA Xers!
:+ :7 :+ :7
Hi all,
Well I won't be pushing play today because it's my rest day. I got in a good workout last night with PS legs and it does change up the order of the exercises which is good, plus I like to add in front and rear lunges. I went as heavy as I thought safe and decreased the # of reps on some exercises. I was almost to failure, and that is so hard to do without compromising the back. I've been building up my squat weight ever so slowly. I want to make sure that all of the supporting muscles/tendons/tissue are totally ready before I add more. Then I did almost 50' minutes of Fluid Power.
I did buy Amy's new dvds and I can't wait to get them. The one with the med ball sounds great.
It's good to hear that there is a little more balance in everyone's food and workout lives:)
Traci - I was reading your comment about legs to Jeanette. That's what I haven't been able to understand about anyone not wanting to do legs. The muscles are large and it takes a lot of energy to work them. I think that's part of the reason I've been able to manage my weight and BF, plus I love it when the pants are loose. Plus strong legs will help with stronger cardio workouts it's like a double bonus. Sounds like you are working Wendell hard. DS is fighting a cold right now, but when he gets a little better I think I'm going to suggest using upper+, total body +, and then a leg workout for him each week plus core+. He'll get his cardio from riding the bike and running. His goal is really to develop overall body tone and strength to support his riding. I thought about the x, but he doesn't need big upper body muscles. Any suggestions for something simple and effective? I love ME and used to use it quite frequently. It is a great workout that goes fast.
Jeanette - DS had a great time in Jackson Hole. He said it was amazing. We may try to take a trip out west next Christmas. I'd rather do that then spend the money on cra*.
Debra - I doubt you would like the Amy cardio. It is pretty hard core and you don't seem to be into that. It is fun and just doesn't have the nasty repetition and filler moves that seem to be part of Cathe's cardio these days. I personally couldn't stand Hi/Lo before I got these and got them purely for the shock effect, but I am glad I did. It really has helped me fitness wise.
I have to go, everyone have a great day.
Tracy
Classic/ Week 9/ Day 4/ YogaX (subbing with some cardio and shorter yoga)
Good morning,
Traci....What kind of cardio are you going to have Wendell do? You haven't mentioned Barry's bootcamp in quite a while. Enjoy!
Tracy....I didn't read your message about doing Hi/Lo Extreme yesterday, until after I'd already previewed and practiced some of Hi/Lo Dome. So, I'm going to do some of Hi/Lo Dome. I will get around to HLEx really soon, though. The choreo in Hi/Lo Dome, so far, is not as complex as I was anticipating, although I hear HLEx is more so.
Jeanette....I forgot that you have hi/lo dome. You really like it, don't you? I'll be doing that today. Glad to hear that you finally made it to the garage last night!
Debra....Excellent job on the presentation!!! The only problem now is that you can only go down from here :D . Ah, the pressure to be perfect....
Christiane....Have a great flight! See you tomorrow!
Good morning to everyone. I'm off to do the first premix on Hi/Lo Dome Challenge (about 45mins), then will put a yoga disk in that fits the time I have left. Not sure what that will be, yet.
Cheers,
Sandra
Doubles/Phase II/Week 5/Day 4
Workout: MIS & abs
Good morning Xers,
I may never get the X behind my name but I will get the results:)
This morning, I struggled big time with MIS I had NO strength in my upper body, that's crazy, for leg's I used my 30lb BB for squats and NO weights for all the other leg workout, wait!! I did use 8 lbers for lunges after that NO weights.
The weights I used for my upper body, blew me away, as to say I had no strength, NONE I tell ya, for chest I used my 30lbs BB, 10 lbers for chest fly’s and I believe for everything else I used 5 lbers EEK can’t wait to do the workout again Saturday, going slower with MUCH heavier weight:D adding extra sets, even going to use Ted's Perfect Push-up for drop sets in GS. Even abs was tough for me this morning;( It is time to get busy. Stay Tune!
Tracie: Nope didn’t push play last night, although there was much playing going on}( Aw....Barry’s BC, nice change:) I love how you mix and match:) I never did BC, mine are still sitting collecting dusks, sad never even gave em a try, nice work!
Hi everyone,
Today was Bootcamp (the original), with all of the core work at the end. I like that better, plus I don't have to keep putting down my mat and picking it up. Yes, I'm that lazy! I remember when that workout wiped me out the first time or two.
Oh yes, I finally made the dental appointment for my Grandma. It will be at the start of February and I will take her down there. So that is crossed off of the list.
Traci, you are crazy!!! Dreaming about Moon River? Wonder if Wendell goes to work and tells stories about you? LOL!!! I used to dream about bugs a lot, cuz as kids we were always collecting them. I hate earwigs and would be dreaming they were in my bed. Glad your DH is enjoying the training time together. Any plans to start playing tennis again? Well, it's easy to cheat with a Spinerval, you just gear the bike down and spin more. I did get my heart rate up there for extended periods so felt pretty good about it. I'd love to get out when it gets warmer and do a Cardio Coach. I am afraid you are so right about the leg work. I have large muscles somewhere under that fat and if I can get them working more, it'd be a good thing for my body. Would working them in a circuit workout twice a week count as working legs twice a week, or would I need more dedicated leg work? Oh, I've never seen Breakfast at Tiffany's so I'm in for it at the retreat!
Tracy, enjoy the rest today. Do you think that if I'm doing circuits for a while that I need to add in more leg work than that? Glad your DS loved Jackson Hole. I'd love to go there sometime too. DH has never seen Yellowstone so someday. We should probably go while we can both still drive, LOL, we're not THAT old. Does your DS have any pictures that you could share?
Sandra, hope you like the Hi-Lo dome. Now I'm confused and have to look. Is the dome used in the hi-lo? I don't remember seeing it. I haven't finished all of the combos on that one yet. I didn't think the sculpting dome work was that challenging, but maybe I need to try it again. What's on the menu today?
Latrese, I'm positive you will get your strength back soon. Maybe it's because of the dreads LOL! Like in the Bible when Delilah cut off Samson's hair? Just kidding of course! Sounds like Ted didn't get a workout in either last night}(. You guys sound like you are enjoying each other :+ :+ :+
Gotta run,
Jeanette
CardioX
Sorry I didn't get back yesterday. Ended up getting hectic.
Another fun day today:) I have to take my DS to a basketball game about 1-1/2 hrs. away:( I am going to take them to school then rush home and workout and get ready then I'm off again. I won't be back until this evening but I'm counting on stopping in for a chat:D
See you then,
Nicole
Bring it!!!
Hi all! Just stopping by before I take DD to breakfast since she is out of school today. Of course, it is just raining now...LOL! But whatever...I will be back in a bit to post some personals. I guess I will be visiting with Eoin a little later. Hope everyone is having a great morning! See you in a bit!
Good morning again!
I did Amy's hi/lo dome premix #1: combos and intervals of 1, 3,&4. That was pretty fun and not overly complicated or frustrating (although I still have to get comfortable enough with the sequencing to be able to concentrate on my form and intensity over my footwork). The only problem I have with these dvds, so far, is that Amy's voice is frequently drowned out by the music. That won't be a problem once I'm more familiar with them, but right now, I'd like to be able to hear her better. After the cardio I popped in Shiva Rea's Fluid Power and did the standing pose mandala and the forward bends and hip openers. Boy, that made me feel good! Very enjoyable workout.
I went ahead and preordered Amy's new workouts yesterday. Traci and Tracy enabled me to do it :)
Jeanette....My understanding of the hi/lo dome workout is that the hi/lo cardio is a stand-alone 60min-ish workout, with the dome workout separate. She does have at least 2 premixes that circuit the cardio and dome segments. My menu today, let's see....breakfast was a bowl of low-fat granola, berries, and plain ff yogurt. Lunch is a stuffed potato (recipe in book: spinach, brocolli, onions, cheese, garlic powder, salt & pepper) with a salad. Afternoon snack is dried fruit and soynuts. Dinner is mediterranean shrimp kabobs (recipe in book: red onion, zucchini, yellow pepper, white mushrooms, lemon juice, olive oil, and oregano), white rice, and an orange. I have to say I'm feeling ambivalent about the dinner. Neither DH and I do shellfish. But we're going to give it a try this week. If it bombs, then we'll sub something else next week. I'd be happy with tofu, but not DH. Oh, something that really helped when I was following Weight Watchers was to eat a bowl of their 0-point veggie soup with lunch every day. I made a double batch once a week. I think I still have that recipe memorized. It used to be in their Week 1 booklet. If it's still there, I recommend it. If not, and you'd like to give it a try, I can give it to you.
Tracy....Enjoy your rest day! Like you, I'm looking forward to Amy's new workout with the med ball. I think that's my favourite piece of fitness equipment, especially when used in core work. I love seeing your enthusiasm for your workouts these days. Are you still considering an ACE certification? I don't know how to get around the back/core stabilization issue when doing heavy bicep work, except to say that perhaps a 100lb woman is not ever meant to curl a 100lb barbell, and that's nature's way of making sure she doesn't! :) Or maybe you need to buy a Woody Band and tether your butt to the floor. LOL!! Oh, a serious idea just came to me. You should do some kind of preacher curl where you're leaning forward, your body fully supported by a stability ball or something, and being forced to lift the weight further out front of you. That would provide the support you need, while making the muscle work harder, without necessarily even going heavier. What do you think?
Teddygirl....Are you on the first week of phase 2? I'm confused about where you are in the program, and why you did MIS today?
Nicole....Ah, poor DS! I guess when it's for the sake of his own teeth, he'll suck it up and do it. Busy day! See you later!
Debra....Did you get any frozen precipitation, or did it just rain instead? It's snowing here this morning. If I get really bored this afternoon I'll shovel the walk. Thank you for praising my adventurous spirit yesterday LOL! Notice it only took me over a year to order! As baffling as it is, there are always students who don't even attempt to meet the professor's criteria. I was a teaching assistant for quite a few university courses, and could tell you stories about students who strive to underachieve. I was as baffled as you are. I DO remember AH sitting on the fire escape. I guess I'll have to watch it again, because I don't really remember her singing.
Laurie....African Queen. Another movie I haven't seen. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen Katharine Hepburn in a movie. I've only ever seen Liz Taylor in Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe? My old-movie repertoire is very limited. I *have* seen Spaceballs, History of the World Part 1, Airplane, Porkies, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and that "farging icehole" movie with Michael Keaton (was it called Johnny Dangerously?) ad nauseum, though. Oh yes, I was brought up with class!
Traci....LMAO those leg presses in ME really got you, hey? I'll be honest and admit that the reason I don't do that one very often is precisely because of those!!! I especially groan at the set she does immediately following the bicep work. It seems cruel to make us pick up a dumbell right after that! But overall it's a great workout, isn't it? Ohh, thank you for your pyramid workout, btw! Yes, my new 'puter does read Excel files. Who knew? Given my monitor has a built in video camera, and no known way to me to disable it, I also hesitate to sit here in my skivvies. I'll have to see if I can figure out how to ensure it's off; that nobody can just link into my camera without me knowing about it.
Christiane....Ah, I see the stool problem now. Yes, swirly is bad. Did Tony tell you to stop the X for a while, until the shoulder gets better, or encourage you to keep up with some form of the rotation? I wonder if you flew overtop of me this morning?
Well, time to go do something. Have a great day!
Sandra
- not doing very well with the brevity thing.
Sandra: I choose MIS because I need too get use to lifting again, its been 3 maybe 4 weeks since I lifted. I knew diving in with CS&T I wouldn’t be strong, and this morning MIS was proof of that x( LOL tomorrow is Kenpo so stay tune!
Morning Xers,
Round 3/Phase 2/Week 3/Day 2
Workout: PlyoX
Last night I managed to get in PY4H Magically Hips. Yes I saw the dog. :D And it really was a good workout, when I wasn't sometimes wondering why we need all that nectar! :7 :7 Noticed that some of the people in the group where laughing at something he must have said too.
Well today isn't going any better than yesterday. Somewhere between my car and my desk I lost my glasses. I do have my dork safety glass (that are perscription), but I hate the side shields that are on them. I can take them off, but then I probably would forget to put them on when I need to go into the plant. I'm hoping someone found them and just have not turned them in. Tomorrow I may have to wear my contacts. I just don't like wearing them in flourescent lighting. x( They get too dry. Better than wearing these dork glasses into the store though. :D :D
On a positive the knee is feeling great today.
Traci, LOL about you "clearing the air". Something must have been in the air, because my DH sat up in bed and asked me if I was ready. I'm half asleep, asking him ready for what? Not at this time of the morning! :7 :7 :7 :+ I don't even think he remembers talking to me last night.:D You really are making that lower body of yours work this week. Those Barry's cardios work the lower body good. I love all the oldies too, and I agree with you. The actors and acresses today are not as good as then. It is very rare for me to see a performance that blows me away! ME is a great workout, is that the one where she is having an outer body experience when doing the biceps? Or did I get that wrong?
Tracy, ^^^5 on the leg workout yesterday. I knew you would do that one without the floorwork. :7 :7 I would have too. :7 I also like the description of Amy's workout that used the med ball. It sounds like it could be fun. I'm getting both of those workouts.
TG, It will be no time at all for you to get your muscle memory back. MIS is and endurance vs. the strengh of P90X. I have noticed that endurance workouts are very hard after I have been doing only strength type workouts.
Jeanette, I think doing BC that way is the best way to do that workout. I have never been a fan of getting the heart rate up and then going to the floor. :D You have not seen BAT either. Now this will be fun, having us all crying during a movie. :7
Nicole, Here is a wave back at ya! Hope your day goes well. Sorry to hear that your DS has to endure the head gear. But then he will have nice straight teeth in the end.
Debra, I take it that you received the ice, since your DD is home from school. :7 My oldest will be home from school. She only has to be at school today for 3 hours. They have finals, so once her test are done for the day off they go. So far she has been confident that her scores will be good on the test she has taken. I'm crossing my fingers for that to be true. :D
Sandra, You really do need a movie makeover. :7 :7 Most of the movies I enjoy are the oldies. :D I'm a person that would love to have Cary Grant walk through the door. I agree with you on ME and the dread factor with all those leg presses. Ok now I don't enjoy floorwork or leg presses (that are over two sets). :7 :7
Christiane, Hope your travels are safe and fast. ;-)
Have a great day!
Laurie
Hi there again! It is a lazy day around here. The diva still has on her pjs and her homeschooled friend is over playing. I guess when it snows, the homeschoolers are out too...LOL! We actually didn't get much snow...just some freezing rain and which made a lot of slush...so therefore all the schools are closed! I actually still have on my pjs too, but I have gotten a few things done...God bless the internet! I will do some studying for my class this afternoon, I guess.
I will be having some fun with Eoin in a bit. I am feeling my workout from yesterday. My legs and abs are a little achy. It's funny, because the core work in willPower and Grace seems to be easy...it is very slow and controlled, but I feel it today for sure!
personals...
Traci...
Well, my huckleberry friend, I have to ask...Why were you 'clearing the air' in your dream??? LOL! Poor Wendell...you must have been loud to wake him up! Good for you for getting his booty in shape...You go girl! He'll be fit as a fiddle in no time with you there every night making him workout...lol. I will send you some pics from my 'viagra' vacation...funny woman! Nothing too revealing, of course. I will be around all day tomorrow since CB has to work until 7pm...but I will be out of touch after that until Monday...I will miss you guys, but I am really looking forward to this time away. The cabin looks great...and we're close to a nice restaurant and a little pub...What else can a girl ask for? This is the website for the cabins http://www.cabinsonthegorge.com/ I will try to take heed of your advice to Jeanette...I know I should work legs more...but I just don't like it...I do it because I know I have to, not because I like it...and you would think I would like it since that is one of my body parts that really responds well to being worked hard. I think it is helping that am using yoga as part of my leg routine....at least I get some burn without using weights!
Tracy...
I know, I know...I am inherently lazy! It's not that I don't like hard cardio, it's just not my favorite...I do like Imax2 and 3...Does that count?? Glad DS had fun at Jackson Hole...what a great trip! Take it easy on your rest day. Sounds like you had a pretty grueling workout last night...I am sure you enjoyed it. So how heavy are you up to with your squats right now?? Are you going to get a rack when the new Cathe workouts come out?
Sandra...
So funny you said that about my presentation...I thought the same thing...LOL! I wasn't expecting to get a perfect score the first time...now what do I do?? Look at you go with branching out away from Cathe....It's like you're leaving the nest. What a big girl you are...LOL! Maybe in another year you guys will convince me to change up. So why don't you and DH do shellfish?? I would think if you liked regular fish you would like shrimp too! I love shrimp, oysters, clams, scallops, lobster, crab....you name it. Silly thing...I don't think anyone can see you with your jammies on...You're not sitting around naked while you chat with us, are you??
Jeanette....
Glad you had a good spin session with the Boys last night. And what a good girl you are for doing BC today...and it doesn't matter when you do the abs as long as you do them. I can't believe you have never seen 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'!! And you still wear a retainer?? I am sure I should have worn my retainer longer than I did...but not this long...LOL! I guess my problem with trickier steps is that when I start to get tired, I lose patience and don't do as well.
Christiane...
Waving as you fly over! Safe travels!
Teddygirl..
Sounds like you are too busy to workout...I am sure that your 'workouts' with Ted count for something...LOL! I am sure you can regain your UB strength pretty quick with the right workouts.
Nicole....
Waving as you truck those boys all around the county!
Laurie...
So glad to hear that the knee is all better. So, you finally had a date with Eoin! You start to not listen to the nectar talk once you've done it often...although he still cracks me up and I've probably done it about 100 times! Sorry about your glasses...I hope they turn up soon. I am sure your DD will do great with all of her finals. Have fun with Plyo tonight!
I guess I am caught up for now...I have some laundry to do and my workout to do...and some reading to do for class...and I will probably start packing for my trip, too.
Debra
Hi all,
My class was cancelled because we did get some snow. It took me and hour and a half to go my usual 25 minute trip home. I started to do total +, but quickly realized that the doms in my legs was not cooperating, so I quit mid way through, did as many chinups as I could and called it a day. I shouldn't be so hard headed.
Debra - I may have gone a little heavy on lunges, but I was using 56lbs, 70 for squats, and 70-60 for dead lifts. I was in that range for step ups too, and I'm feeling it today. This starts my recovery week, so I guess that's OK. Like I said, I'll stay at those weights for a while. Glad you did well on your presentation. I guess you'll be MIA for a few days. Have fun!
Laurie - How was plyox? Are you bored with it yet? How is DD doing with her training?
TG - Strength seems to build and leave quickly, although I'm not sure at the same rate.
Sandra - I agree that the sound of Amy's voice is not as loud as it could be, but once you get to know it, it doesn't matter as much. Isn't it's nice to move around a little differently? I use the dome challenge as a core workout. I usually modify the glute raise/tricep exercise to more of a v sit and I get a nice overall core challenge. I think that I will try using the ball to do some preacher curls. That may help be to get over the hump, but somehow I still need to strengthen my core. I'm just going increase the weights gradually and hope to build up everything. You may be right though, holding that much weight in front of me in comparison to my bodyweight is probably going to be tough. You must be better at choreography than me. I struggled with the step, but I haven't been doing hardly any step recently. I know they say the Hi/lo dome is easier, but I thought the other hi/lo was easier to learn.
Nicole - Happy taxi driving.
Traci - Do they have huckleberries in TX? I do go back and do old workouts every now and then. It's just that while my back was hurt, I did all of Cathe's upper workouts a lot. Since I'm kind of on a plan now, I'll just stick to it. I'll never get rid of any of her weight work or anything else. Yes, since I've found Amy's cardio I feel like I've hit the jackpot with new workouts. I really was dreading trying to figure out what cardio I would do this winter if I was forced inside, but now I'm set.
Jeanette - Since you haven't been working legs much, I would probably continue to do the circuits for a couple of weeks and then go to some more serious lower work for a few weeks. That should take you into the biking season, but if not, you can take a little break, hit legs again for a few weeks. Then you can go back to maybe one endurance leg workout a week when you are riding hard. I think that if you start the season doing legs and riding, that you should build stronger leaner legs. I don't see how you can increase strength for riding if you don't do any strength training, but you have to have fresh legs when you really need them, so it will be a fine balance. I had the most strength in my legs when I was lifting fewer reps and heavier, but that might not work for you. LL is great for endurance and strength and might be a good one to integrate later. It cannot hurt to build some strength during the off season, and then go on a maintance strength program during the season. JMO. Plus my legs always get smaller when I lift heavier.
I better go. I had dinner in the crock pot because I thought I'd have school. It's a nice bonus not to have to come home and figure out what I'm fixing for dinner. Maybe we will have a 2 hour delay tomorrow.
Quickie for me today. I did push play, though :D I did not end up getting in extra cardio yesterday, so today I TRIED to do Tracey's Step Sweatfest. I got about 3 mins into the warm-up before I was cursing at her so badly I just took it out. There is no instruction on how to do the moves in the WARM-UP and the girl just does NOT cue feet/direction. So, after that disaster, lol, I popped in BM2 and did the Timesaver cardio (which is the bonus cardio section twice followed by the cardio portions of the blast section). It was really fun, and I even broke out the 8" step for the occasion. It's what I wish HIS was, lol. Afterwards, I had my Daily Dose of Eoin, oops, I mean Bliss ;-) It is still my favorite one of his set. Anyway, I've got loads going on here, so I'll catch up on personals tomorrow, but I wanted to let you know I'm still here :) Have a wonderful evening all!
Classic/ Week 3/ Day 3
Hello all! Just a quick note from the frozen north ( where it happens to be minus 44 with windchill tonight) to let you all know that I'm still around. I just don't have the time on work days to post, the evenings are just so full with kids stuff, volunteer stuff, and P90X of course. I'm still pushing play and am right on track! Woo Hoo! I really up the weights today for Sh/Arms and can really feel it already.
Well I'm off work till Tuesday so hope to get caught up on the week's activities. Tomorrow I'm going as a parent volunteer to the museum with the Grade 2 class :D and doing Yoga X.
Hope everyone is doing well and will "talk" to you later. Kim
Good evening! I hope someone sees this before 5am MST tomorrow. I need an opinion. I'm supposed to do Legs & Back and ARX tomorrow. I'm tired of it, and doubt that it's very effective for me anyway. The only part that's tough for me are the pull/chin ups. I was thinking of subbing a Cathe lower body, and adding in pull/chin ups. That seems straight forward enough, right? Not when you live in my head!
What's buzzing in my brain is the idea to do a total body workout, and add a reasonable amount of pull ups in with the back work.
Question #1: Is it a good idea to do add more weight training to the Classic rotation? Or will I be compromising the weight training I've done on Mon and Wed by not giving my muscles enough rest time? As I sit here on Thursday evening, I don't feel domsy or stiff at all. My elbow feels fine, too. I'm thinking Muscle Endurance might be a good choice (gee, where'd I get that idea??), because the leg work is some of her more intense stuff for a total body workout, the upper body work is endurance focused (so will strain the muscles differently), and the ab work with the medicine ball is A#1.
Question #2: If I do this, what is a reasonable number of sets of pull/chin ups to add to the workout? 2 sets? 3 sets? I think I'd like to work on standard pull ups and chin ups by doing the jump-up, slow-count down style to muscle exhaustion (doesn't take too many reps for that!).
Honestly, what do you think?
Thanks!
Sandra
Hi Ladies!
Shhh... I've been lurking in my spare moments, reading and trying to keep up with y'all.
The first leg of my flight got cancelled.:-( Nothing that an hour on the phone couldn't fix. x( So far, it looks like I'm going to leave tomorrow early in the morning.
I didn't work out today. Although, I did take Baby on a vigorous walk this morning. I wanted to lead her while riding my bike later in the day. But, the snow came before I had another free moment.
I wish you all good health and fitness gains while I'm away. Stay off the injury list (this includes poor Wendell!!!!)!!!! :)
Talk to y'all in a couple of weeks. :* :* :* :* :*
Sweet Dreams!
Wendy
Good evening, just sitting here enjoying the nice warmth inside the house. Cut DH's hair a little bit ago, dogs all stretched out in front of us. Life is good...
Nicole, busy day for you. Did you have time for a workout?
Debra, your getaway looks wonderful. Sounds like something I would enjoy with DH even after 28 years. Yes, I still wear a retainer on Tuesday nights and have ever since 1976. Goodness, 31 years! I have short roots on my top teeth and I can feel that they've moved within a week's time so I keep on keeping on.
Sandra, your meals today sound yummy! Are you allergic to shellfish? Week 1 booklet, what's that? I'll do a search for the Zero calorie soup. So far, I haven't been famished, definitely feeling leaner and less puffy. LOL with your old movie repertoire. My Dad loves The Quiet Man with John Wayne. It's a good one. I think I've got a webcam on my laptop too. Hope it's not on right now as I'm in my jammies.
Laurie, glad you enjoyed Eoin today. Hope you find those glasses soon. Yep, sideshields would be a bit dorky. Glad the knee is better. I think the "outer body experience" on biceps is Pyramid Upper Body. Oh good, we can all watch BAT together, drink wine, cry and just have a wonderful time!!! Agreed on Carey Grant. Something about those leading men! They don't make them like that any more.
Tracy, sorry your workout didn't go as planned, but just shows you are putting your all into your workouts. Egads, that's a lot of weight you are lifting for legs! You go girl! Great advice on the legs. Okay, I'm going to do circuits for a few weeks, then switch it up. I would really like to have some leg definition sometime in my life. Riding tons of miles on a bike hasn't done it.
Carol, sorry you didn't like Tracey's Sweatfest. She has some new ones coming out, but I'm holding off for a while to buy anything. I want to look more into Amy's workouts and try some of her step. I still need to do Tracey's HISM2.
Kim, way to go on upping the weights in S&A today. I thought it was cold here but nothing like what you have. Good job on keeping up with everything. Have fun at the museum tomorrow.
Whew, I made it:)
That was a long day! I left here at 11:30 and didn't get back home until 5:00. I know for some of you that's a short workday. I still had to get up at 6;00 and take the kiddos to school before coming home to workout and shower then shuttle kids here and there:p The boys and girls lost their games but it's to be expected. We have the shortest team in the district so when it comes to playing basketball they come up a bit short, ha, ha, ha:)
CardioX went ok today. I didn't sweat as much which means I'm adapting to it. I think it will be good to throw the + workouts in next week.
I am so lost with my nutrition lately. I am so tired of the healthy meals I would usually use to lose weight so I'll have to go to the store and buy some stuff to spice things up a bit. I think I'm just burnt out altogether.
Traci-X, LOL, Sounds like Moon River has opened a once closed door:) I hope the memories from watching the movie are all good so it doesn't give you nightmares. I am so glad you are being nice to Wendell in his early days of training. If it were my DH I would totally show him up but that's only a dream. He can kick my butt at anythingx( I see you didn't make it back, did you have a client today? Maybe Wendell needed a "massage". Yes, that's probably it}(
Tracy, I had to click back and forth a couple of times because I saw it was a rest day and then I see you working out. I was thinking didn't I just read it was a rest day?:) Sounds like you fried those legs and I know you loved every minute of it:p I can hardly do a two leg assisted pull up so way to go on your progress! DH thinks it's pretty funny that I can't manage even one pull up. I just tell him to go away and leave me to sulk:p Believe it or not we are supposed to get snow on Monday. I guess all of my bragging has finally come to bite me in the butt.
Sandra, Goodness sakes, you all are on an AB kick. I only have her All Pump Extreme and I've yet to use it. That'll teach me to buy on an impulse:p Honestly if I were going to sub L&B I would do GS legs Timesaver Premix(32 or 49 min.) or L&G Standing Premix(39 min.) and the pull/chin ups off of the worksheet. I actually had that in mind for tomorrow as a sub for myself. Tony only does 8 sets of pull/chin ups anyway so those shouldn't take much time. JMO:) As far as abs any of Cathe's are great and if you have L&G out you can do the abs section from KP&C. Hope that helps:)
Teddygirl, I have found that with the X unless I'm are doing it consistently I do not make any big strength gains. If you really want to test it's effectiveness you'd have to do it 95%. If you're not up to that don't beat yourself up just know that that's how it will be. If you don't like that, change your program. Keep trying, you'll get it:)
Jeanette, ^5, glad DG has her dental appointment set up. I'm sure she wouldn't be too upset though if you forgot:) Bootcamp is a good one. It really gets your heart rate up there. I did get CardioX in which I needed! I am anxious to do the Interval+ for the next few weeks. I think it will really give me that last boost I need. I told Tracy all of the bragging about the great weather bit me in the butt because we are expecting snow down to 2000 ft. and even sleet down near the coast. That can only mean one thing, FREEZING COLD!!!}(
Debra, I'm so glad to hear the presentation went well! See you were born for this stuff:) I know your warm personality doesn't hurt either;) I am so jealous that you will be off having a romantic retreat with CB. Maybe for my tenth anniversary in July I can have one. Yeah right, who am I kidding? That's not in DH DNA:p Anyway, Have a great time and keep warm!
Laurie, What was your overall opinion of PY4H? I do it on days when I need to feel giggly. He always manages to out a smile on my face and the boys think the dogs funny:) Sounds like you don't have a funny dog. I'm glad she made her way back home. My sister had a dog that ran off every chance she got. She first got her at the pound and they told her she was probably a runaway. The 100 th time she ran away from my sister she let the pound keep her. She felt bad but when she moved to the city they charge you $60 to get the dog back and after 3x she refused to pay. Wow, that was a long story:p Sure hope you find those glasses. There's nothing worse than being a dork at work all day:)
Carol, Sounds like you are doing great with your workouts! re you still doing them in the morning? Are you noticing big changes? I'll have to pop in on your blog and read for myself!
Kim, Glad to see you pop in! Way to go on staying on track! My last round was better than this one. Between injuries and illness I feel like I've only been 80% which is so not like me.Let us know your 30 day results, or is it closer to 60 day now? Sounds cold, stay warm!
Wendy, Hope all was fixed with your flight. God speed and BIG {{{{hugs}}}}! I know if it is what God wants it will happen.
Ok, off to bed! I'm glad I got in here today.
Tomorrow is payday so I get to preorder STS:D
Tah, tah for now:*
