Cathlete
Morning Maniacs -

This morning I started a FF week. I did Tracey Staehle's Sculpt Sweatfest. With w/u & c/d workout was 70" and I burned 267 calories. Not a big calorie burner due to the lying work. I really enjoyed this. I really think you need to do these types of workouts not looking for a Cathe style weight workout and you'll get a LOT more out of it. Kneeled on the Bosu not the Stab Ball...as I'm not able to balance yet. This is a real burner. I wore ankle weights for the lying leg work and used a DB ...but I had to take them off for her ab work. She's certainly the Core Lady Du Jour!!

Kel - how are you? Missed you over the weekend.

Jen - The only thing I notice when I detox my liver is some slight dizziness/lightheadedness. I'm on so much medication right now...that I doubt it stays detoxed long....on this prednisone and antibiotics from the sinus specialist. Yuck. My DH is the one who wanted to try house flipping. It's really his project. I support him though. He actually got the idea when our income's kept getting cut with pay cuts, pension freezing, bonus stopping...etc. He felt we needed to make try to make that money up another way. I'm lucky that my DH is very aware of finances. He was obssessed with paying our house off since we got married. Since we started out later in life...he didn't want to be in debt forever...so he worked very diligently (paying a lot extra on the payment when we could afford) and now that our house is paid off, we can get a Home Equity Loan with our house as collateral to invest in the flipping. It's all his idea....as I get a bit nervous paying for someone else's house when they are still living in it!! ...as was the case in the most recent purchase. However, I do think this one will go a lot quicker on the market and is a much better sell. We'll see if I'm right. My DH and the guy who does our painting agreed. You would NOT beleive the way people live! It's disgusting! Plus they trash the place, haul anything away that they can take and leave tons of junk behind. It's lots of work! My poor DH worked like a maniac all weekend on that house. He was ripping down to layers of wallpaper and cleaning the filth. I helped a little but no where near what he did. He is a VERY hard worker and has TONS of ambition. I used to be that way...but I'm mellowing with age.

Gotta run - I've got to clean and then I'm taking Mom to the Doctors and have errands to run for her. I also need to clean her house, do her laundry and grocery shopping. I tell ya...I'm starting to feel like a real Suzy Homemaker....can't take it! Yuck........now all I need is a stove! I've also got to start going door to door job hunting later in the week, as my unemployment is nearing end. No jobs in the paper yesterday!!!

Have great workouts ladies.

ETA -- forgot to mention - I've gone thru my VHS fitness vids and got it to the point where I need to watch them to decide....so I've been watching older vids all weekend. Yikes....the MUSIC! I can appreciate some of the newer stuff's music much more ...even if it still isn't great. I'm still having a great deal of difficulty pitching stuff. I think I've only pitched about 1/4th of what I've gone thru so far. Even if they're dated......I think of a reason to keep it.....ugh....such a pack rat. I ordered some new stuff from Deep Discount's sale over the weekend. Got some newer yoga coming...have no idea what to expect!

Hi ladies!

I had a truly crazy weekend & it's actually good to be back at work today... & definitely nice to be back here.:)

First, an update on yoga. I was so busy that I wasn't able to post on Friday but I did fit in a nice yoga routine during lunch. I'm getting better & better at going with the flow & just doing my own thing each time I attempt it on my own. I'm really starting to like it a lot now. I also popped in Crunch Super Slim Down Pilates Yoga Blend & followed up with some additional yoga & stretching on my own yesterday. I've been stressed lately & really needed this so I'm glad I woke up early & was able to fit it in. My DH wants to pick me up for lunch today & I'm also wearing a dress so there probably won't be any yoga for me today but I plan to fit some in during lunch throughout the week so I'll keep you ladies updated.

Lora - Good workout. I agree with you about doing workouts from other instructors... you just need to keep an open mind & enjoy them for what they are. About the real estate, I was just wondering if there were more foreclosures & other deals available where you live. They're few & far between here, even though we keep up with the real estate classifieds & we also receive a list of foreclosures as they become available. We actually have our hands full right now but we'd like to do it full time someday too. Like you, it's mostly my DH's "thing" but I help out in any way I can too. Thank you for the information about the yoga DVDs I asked about. I'm planning to make a purchase soon but not sure exactly when. I'll let you know when I do & what I decide to get...

Jen - Good job with that rotation & the weight loss! So you're planning a cardio-only rotation next? Oh my goodness, I couldn't do that at all! I'm a closet cardio hater & I really only do it because I need to. Oh, once I get started (on a Cathe cardio especially), I get into it & end up enjoying it but I just don't think I could look forward to doing it every day. Do you like cardio a lot? Good luck with it & I hope you get great results from it! Please keep us updated...

Well, I guess I better get some things done before lunch. I hope you ladies have a great day & I'll be back later...

Kel - tons of foreclosures here. I think they have an auction downtown about every 2-3 weeks (sometimes 4 or so) and there are at least 80 properties or more being auctioned off. People get in over their heads like crazy!!! It's at an all time high. My DH usually has 3 houses picked out in the immediate neigborhood to bid on. If you want more info....feel free to PM me with questions and I'd be happy to help. Hope your life calms down soon.

gotta run........just got home from the doctor's with Mom. She's having a bad day today.

Hi ladies! Tonight's WO was Slim and Lean Biceps. I did 3 sets that included variations on hammer curls and supinated curls. Continued on with the pyramid style I have been using and did 8/7/5 this week (up from 8/5/3 from last week). I am still reaching failure on set 1. The follow-up sets burn but I can eek them out. I did the abs segment with weighted genie balls. I followed that WO with Cathe's Timesaver # 4, which had the cardio from Step Blast plus some more biceps and core work.

Lora-Wow! Your house is paid off. Holy crap! I would love to be in that position. It seems like it would be much less stressful without a mortgage hanging over your head. That is good that your DH is so knowledgeable about the finances.....I know that can come with some down sides, too...but overall that's a good thing. Sorry to hear your mom had a bad day. I hope tomorrow is better. That is so funny about your VHS and trying to get rid of them. I can totally relate. I am not a pack rat about much, but I am definitely a pack rat about my older videos! LOL! ;) I cannot seem to part with any of them-despite the bad music as you said! BTW, what is a FF week? I read your post this morning and have been trying all day to figure it out! LOL!

Kel-I am a complete and total non-closet cardio hater! I don't want to do a cardio rotation, but I am curious about it just for the sake of experimentation and finding out what really works for my body in terms of weight loss. I will definitely try one week and possibly two but I doubt I make it any longer than that. I have a big fear of losing lean muscle mass, so I just want to see if I actually do lose muscle mass, and if so-how much. There are so many different ways to train. I actually just read an article somewhere that was discussing a fitness competitor's approach to her training and she says she does only cardio for 4-6 weeks before her next competition. I was surprised by that, since you think a fitness competitor would lift all the time, but especially leading up to a competition. I read about other fitness competitors who do very little, if any cardio and it works well for them. I just find all that stuff pretty facinating. I am secretly hoping the cardio doesn't work as dramatically for weight loss-I'd sure hate to find out I need to add even more of it to my rotations! :( The book I am reading now says that you can even do DOUBLE cardio for a short period to bust through workout plateaus. Well...that gives me the cold sweats just thinking about it! :)

Have a great night ladies!

Jen
