Good morning,

Just starting the thread this morning, then I have to dash and get ready for day 2 of the dog show. It was fun seeing old friends and their dogs. My feet hurt from walking up and down the arena, I hardly sat all day. Only 3 of my students showed up so that was a trip trying to fill in all the worker slots with members of our club. There are supposed to be 4 students today, but 3 are ones from yesterday that did not show so I don't expect them today. :rolleyes:. I will be reporting this to the guidance councelor on Tuesday. The one girl that stayed all day, was great and she said she was going to see if she could come back today, even thought he had only committed to the one day.

Valerie, your trip sounds beautiful. I always wanted to see Montana. Maybe one of these days after retirement, DH and I can go. He would love to go on a fishing trip there.

Garance, when do you actually leave for your trip?

Josie, good job on the workouts, did you get all done? how was the gallery opening?

Cathy, how is the conference going? when do you get home?

Three days of overeating and I am 4.4lb more than last Monday. I have to figure out a different strategy when I have company. I really had planned but they stayed 3 days longer than I thought they would. I had 3 free nights at the casino hotel but then they stayed with me. I thought they were only staying 3 nights.

I got the Walk it Out game for my Wii. You get credits for every step you take and you use them to "buy" streetlights, buildings, bridges basically everything on the island. You have to walk in time to the music. You start out with about 5 songs but you can use your credits to get more songs. I think a total of 120 songs.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Zumba Cardio Party (46 min.).

I rented that J-Lo film, Backup Plan. It was really pretty awful. I am curious, though, as to why there are so many films about surrogates, sperm donors, women who decide to be single moms. It's like a whole new genre of films for women.

Deb, I am leaving on Tuesday night and coming back on Saturday. I have one totally free afternoon in Cambridge, so I plan on doing some sightseeing then and seeing one of my former students who is doing a M.Phil at Cambridge. Sounds like you have your hands full with the dog show. That's too bad about the students not showing up. Is this something they get paid to do or volunteer work?

Joan, that's a real bummer about the weight gain. I bet that not all of it is real, though. You would have to be eating 3500 extra calories a day in order to gain all of those pounds, so it must be a temporary spike. I do have to ask, though--what did you feed your guests, girl?
 
It's not my fault. We went out to eat because I can't make enough to feed my tiny sister in law. She eats more than anyone I know including when my boys were teenagers. Tuesday we went out and she had lasagna that came in a huge dish like I would fix for my family. I had a baked potato (with butter) and grilled asparagus. Wednesday I had 2 pieces of pizza and 1/2 cupcake. She ate 3/4 large pizza and a large piece of cake. If she wasn't so nice I could hate her. She won't gain a pound.

Hi gang,

The show is finally over and behind us. Keegan did wonderfully, took first place in his class on Saturday, and a very good score yesterday, so he now has his Rally Novice title. Good boy!

I tried to keep to good eating, ( I brought my cranberry bars both days for a snack), but it is hard with the only food being what the club provides to the competitors and workers. John smoked about 15 pounds of pulled pork and donated it. It was wonderful! I ate one cookie that wasn't even good, and a little tortellini salad... All of it except for John's pork was kind of tastless to me. Not worth the calories that's for sure.

The kids that actually showed up were great and a livesaver. I will have to tell the guidance councelor that there were a lot that never showed, very dissapointing. It's hard when I have to have a specific number of volunteers working each ring, and there were so many no shows. have today off, to recover from the weekend. Going to walk/jog with my cousin this morning, I hope.

Garance, do you fly out of NY? how long is the flight to London I assume?

Joan, maybe too many carbs? I know I am addicted to carbs, so eliminating wheat, and anything like white potatoes, white flour, and white rice did wonders for me. Also think that milk was doing me in with it's sugar content. I have not had milk in 6 months. Even though I drank FF milk, I think it was part of my problem.

Hi Ladies,

The weekend went by to fast for me. I need another day off; I will try to go spinning tonight. I was a bit disappointed this weekend regarding my weight. I did not loose anything, my body is holding on to every calorie that I put in my mouth. I was told that this happens, so I hope that I loose some weight this week.

Deb, I did finish all of my workouts during the weekend. The gallery exhibit was beautiful.
The name of the artist is Phoebe Beasley. I have been doing what you suggested to Joan.
I have eliminated all white products and I feel better. I drink Lactaid and love the taste, have you tried it?

Garance, have fun on your trip.

Joan, don't worry about the weight gain. I agree with Garance that these are not real pounds.

This morning I did P-57 (57 min.).

Deb, I fly out of Albany to Washington, D.C., and then to London. Crossing the puddle takes about 6-7 hours, but then I have to get a bus to Cambridge, which is about 2 hours and 20-30 min. I luuve pulled pork! I would have loved to volunteer at a dog show when I was in high school. Congrats to little K!!

Joan, I sympathize. I had a skinny bf growing up, and I was always on the chubby side. Has she gone through menopause yet? Sometimes that can be the gamechanger. Former skinnies are so shocked by the hormonal change and don't know how to suppress their former eat-anything proclivities that they gain weight, while former always-a-bit-on-the-plump-siders know how to control our calories because we've been dieting what seems like forever. It does not sound like you over-indulged, though, so maybe it's carbs, like Deb and Josie are saying.

Josie, I will check out your artist. I have a very good friend, Junko Yoda, showing at the Zabriskie Gallery in NYC and I am going to try to get down there to see her work. Plath's Three Women is also going to be in production, so I will try to do that as well. Hope you are handling your grief okay.

Deb, I really don't have problems with carbs. More like problem with excess calories. I did lose 1.6lb of water today so only 2.8 more that I hope will come off quickly.

Garance My brother is older than I am but sil is quite a bit younger. She is janitor at private college. She says mopping thousands of sq ft of floor keeps metabolism high. She also never stops moving. They live in Il and take train to Chicago every weekend and just walk around. There is usually some festival or another going on. They can walk 5-10 miles in a day.

I hit a record number of calories burned yesterday-2574. We park away from the football stadium so we don't have to pay for parking. Plus it's close to the the restaurant we like. That added about 4 miles of walking and I did another 4 miles playing WIO on Wii.

hey ya'll. I'M HOME!! so glad to be home. very long day.

LOL! joan, don't ya hate that??????? i just spent the weekend with my girlfriend that is like that. MAKES ME CRAZY!!! and she is 51, but skinny as a rail and eats anything she wants. GRRRRR!!

ok, i am so ready to workout tomorrow. did some at the hotel, but not for the last 3 days. just had no time or opportunity to do it. i mean besides walking and riding last nite.
my computer is being very dumb tonite, so i'm gonna sign off now, will ttyl.

Good Morning,

Today I did workout #1 from 30 Minutes To Fitness Muscle Definition. Went to vote this morning, got back a few minutes ago. They started using the new scanned in system, and a news reporter stopped DH and asked him how he liked it. Of course, he said he likes the levers better.

Josie, I am sure your weight is just water. When you do weight work, your muscles retain water. That is why I only weight myself the morning after a cardio day.

Garance, how long is the drive from your home to Albany? Seems like there should be an airport closer to you, buy my geography is not the best.

Joan, I would love a job that is physical rather than a desk job. But when you are young, you don't think that way. That sure is a lot of calories burned in one day!

This morning I did 4 Fast Miles with Leslie (50 min.).

I guess I am all ready to go tonight. Deb, Albany is about an hour away from here. Hartford is 2 hours away, Boston is 3 hours away, NYC is 3 hours and 15 min.

I won't be checking in for awhile, so have a great week, ladies!

I did a 30 minute Cardio Coach this morning, it felt good, only burned 189 calories. Oh well. it is what it is.

Garance, Safe travels!

Josie, when you do weights, what cardio do you do? Is it like a circuit workout?

Joan, what happened with the lift you were looking at getting? did that ever work out?

Valerie, I know you won't see this, but hoping you are having a great vacation!

Deb the lift was so much more expensive than we thought I am trying to find another source.

My guest bathroom has beige tile that I always think looks dirty. It was in perfect condition even the grout because we never used it. I went crazy today and ripped off the wallpaper, ripped out the flooring and the tile on the walls. Do you think I should mention to my husband that we are remodeling?

howdy ya'll! well, today i did dangerous curves ahead and added a 12 min. HiiT circuit, which made it 70m.
yesterday was , uh, well, i can't remember. let me think. oh yeah, calorie killer 2 and another extra 10 circuit, which made it 60m.
then, yesterday the g/kids came over and we played. i missed them so much while i was gone. so, i'm gonna go down to their house tomorrow and swim and play w/them.

I woke up today feeling dizzy and the room is spinning. Not sure what this is all about. Maybe the change in weather or something. :confused:. No workout, I just want to sit here with my eyes closed.

Joan, are you happy you started this? I would have loved to see the look on your DH's face when he saw what you did.

I was dizzy for awhile when I would lie down. The doctor gave me dizzy pills. At least that's what he called them. They were just an antihistamine. The area of the ear that takes care of balance gets floaters of material and if they block the wrong area you get dizzy. Or at least that was my problem.

I wasn't going to tell my husband about the remodel but the 10 bags of tile might have given him a hint. Or was it the sink sitting in the living room?:D

I tried to sleep in, but it didn't work. I am so glad it's Friday.

Joan, are you getting new stuff too or just doing tile, floor etc?

What is everyone doing this weekend? I have Keegan's class tomorrow and HouseMax. Otherwise, no committments, just the kind of weekend I look forward to.

Hi Ladies,

I don't have any plans for the weekend. My DH had to go to Washington D.C. for a work conference and won't be back until next Tuesday. My DD and I might go and get our nails done and maybe lunch on Saturday.

I will be doing a booty camp class at 7:30-8:30 AM near my house and then going to my weight training class. On Sunday I plan to go spinning.

Deb, the cardio that I do after my weight training is different every time. On Tuesday I do the bike at 140 heart rate for 25 minutes, Thursday I do sprints on the bike 45 seconds steady at 140 the 15 seconds at as high as I can get my heart rate to go for 25 minutes.
On Saturday I do the stepper for 25 minutes at a steady rate or sometimes I go spinning after my weight training.
