Good morning,

Today I did an I-Climb Circuit workout, but I used the treadmill instead of the eliptical. This is one where you use the cardio machine for 5 minutes, then get off and do weight work for about 5 mnutes, alternating for a total of 40 minutes. You can make this as challenging as you want.

Joan how is your son doing?

Cathy, I hope you are able to use the workout sheets.

If anyone else wants them, just PM your e-mail address to me.

Going to my brothers for dinner later,

take care,

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did BBL Bum Bum and Cardio Axe (60 min.).

Mousy caught by fish oil! We heard him shuffling about in this big box trap this morning. Sorry--cannot set this guy loose. He will just come back for more. But I won't go into his funeral arrangements.

Only one of the three Bolero dances was any good. The second one was particularly irritating--godawful electronic music that built to a roar, and when I partially closed my ears, it sounded like an alarm clock going off over and over and over. And the outfits? Absolutely dreadful. They looked like they were wearing black shredded backpacks and the dancers in a pas de deux looked like they were wearing little padded pillows strung together. A Project Runway nightmare. Goth-style makeup to finish it off. Seemed like a terrible waste of some superb dancers. Oh well--one more performance next Saturday, and I'm pretty sure we will like them--Hubbard Street Dance Co. from Chicago.

Pouring rain today.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

That fish oil mouse is so funny. I never let them live either. We haven't had mice since the subdivision was new. Before that it was a corn field.

I did leaner legs yesterday. Haven't gotten to shoulders yet today.

Ds is sore but no side affects so he's happy. Two of his friends had horror stories. I told him to make sure he didn't have the same doctor.

I baked up 6lb of chicken breasts today to put in freezer. I make bbq chicken pizza with nutrasystem and use chicken as the added protein. I found that if I thawed in microwave for 5 min at 30% power is tasted like just cooked. In the past I ended up cooking them more in the microwave and getting them too dry.

I also cooked a half a head of cabbage (shredded) in chicken boullion. You use boiling water in some of the lunches. I use the juice instead and add a cup of cabbage. You have to have 2 veg servings for lunch and two for dinner.

Monday

Good morning,

Today I attempted week 3 of the Couch to 5K workouts, and felt like I was going through mud. I forgot to down a STOK before going downstairs, and I really paid for it. Plus the HRM was acting up again

Garance, LOL on the "healty mouse" and his downfall. That dance sounds plaine weird. I guess everyone's idea of creativity is different.

Joan, It sounds like you are really doing well on this system. Thanks for the tip on microwaving frozen chicken. I always overdo it and it gets like shoe leather. So the trick is to cook it normally first, then freeze. We usually buy one of those roasted ones at the supermarket, strip it off the bones and use for my lunch salad every day.

Hi to Josie, Cathy, and the Valerie on her hike.

Take care,

Hi Deb and Joan--

This morning I did Jazzercise Dancin' Abs (60 min.). I guess you can tell that I like this workout because I do it every week. Love the music and easy choreo and feel like it really does the abs.

Joan, I admire you for doing Leaner Legs. That was the one CTX I really dreaded. Probably very effective, though. Hope your son is feeling better soon.

Deb, what is an STOK? Is it something you habitually imbibe before a workout? I thought you had to have your caffeine fix. Yep--that dance was a real horror story. I almost started laughing because it seemed so contrived and overworked--all kinds of little strange hand moves. Oh, and one male dancer was really tall and very pale. He looked like a young Max Von Sydow with that big Swedish jaw. He is the one with the pillows dangling around his neck. Zany! As one of my friends put it, "Well, at least it's memorable!"

Still rainy here today.

Hi Ladies,

I was on vacation and just got back today. My desk looks like it explodes. I spent some time with my grandkids and went to the casinos on my birthday. I'm now 54 years old!

I did not do much while I was on vacation. I went to the gym a couple of times and had lunch with my DD a couple of times that is about it. I just needed to vegetate.

I will be back later, I just wanted to let you ladies know that I was still alive.

Josie

howdy, wooo doggies!!!!!!! i just did complete body sculpting w/christa, and added a very hard 18m. of a very heavy body circuit.
i also went very heavy on CBS. i am sore already.

the circuit i did had

box squats---53# barbell
lat row--30#
pushups on toes!! YAY! that is very hard for me for some reason
static lunges--40#
tri dips
hammer curl--14#'s
upright rows--14#'s
planks

i did 8 reps & 2 circuits.. i'm a glutton for punishment

wish it was raining here! it is suppsed to be 104 today. and, i gotta work in it this afternoon. i'd rather work in the rain.

happy b-day josie, and welcome back.

Welcome back Josie, you're just a kid compared to me.:) Happy belated birthday.

I did Abs, shoulders and triceps from the Upper body split, Biceps tomorrow. I will still want to get on the treadmill. I was careful on shoulders. I maybe should have gone even lighter but I did skip some reps.

Joan

how old are you ,joan? i'll be 56 in jan. :(.

deb, i am a bit confused on how to use them. i did look at one, but i haven't really looked in depth.

i am sore and tired. worked for 4 hrs this afternoon. my feet hurt. i'm gonna go to bed.

Tuesday

Good morning,

No workout today, I woke up at 3:00 and could not get back to a real sleep, dozed for a bit. Now I am exhausted. I have to go to dinner tonight with the CEO of our division, and all the senior managers, I don't know how I will stay awake. :(

Garance, a STOK is a shot of caffine, I think around 40ml. They come in little creamer type containers. It's getting the caffine in without having to make coffee! :)

Josie, Welcome Back and Happy Belated Birthday!:D

Cathy, good job on the workout. Are you able to open the sheets from your e-mail? The little tabs on the bottom are the different workouts..once you click on the tab, you should see the workout sheet, and then be able to print them to use to record weights used.

Joan, go light for a bit on the weight. The treadmill should not bother your shoulder/arm, or does it?

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Zumba Live Cardio Party (55 min.).

Happy birthday, Josie! You are a lot younger than I, and I wouldn't mind in the least going back to 54 except for the hot flashes.

Sounds like you are going to need another shot of caffeine tonight to get through that dinner, Deb.

Take care with those weights, Joan! I still have a couple weeks of cardio alone before I dare to do weights with my right elbow.

Hope you get some rain and cooler weather, Cathy. That's what we've had now for 3 days and I wish we'd get a bit more summer weather.

Wednesday

Good morning,

I am just so tired today, I did not get home until around 9:30. Sitting with people from work and the CEO for all those hours, is exhausting.

Not much going on, I just want to get through this day and come home...

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did 4 Fast Miles with Leslie (51 min.). This one has 5 2 min. jogs and you can mute Leslie, which is a true blessing. I wish she had this option on all of her dvds.

Poor Deb--you sound tuckered out. Maybe you can go to bed early tonight and get some zzzzz.

It's still rainy here, although it sounds like the weekend will be nice, and then next week is another blast of summer heat. I hope so, because I'm not ready for fall.

Watched Date Night last night. Pretty funny!

Hi Ladies,

I did my weight training plus cardio yesterday and I will be spinning tonight. I'm still trying to catch up with work and today we are interviewing all day for 2 positions in my department. So no real work is going to get done on my desk.

My DD is starting school on the 30th and will be a junior. Wasn't I just talking to you ladies about her going to college? Time sure flies!

I will be back later. I have to get ready for the next interview.

Josie

Good morning,

I am still very tired, slept on the couch last night. It was rainiing last night, and might be today as well.

Garance, how is your arm? Is Date Night a reality show?

Josie, Yes it seems like yesterday you were telling us about your daughter going to college. Time does fly. Interviewing is my least favorite thing to do at work. Good luck with them, I hope you get good candidates.

Hi to Cathy, Joan, and the hiking Valerie,

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Bootcamp Boogie (63 min.).

Date Night is a movie with Tina Fey and Steve Carell. It just came out on cable, so I rented it. It's about a couple trying to spice up their weekly date night by driving into Manhattan and going to a posh restaurant. When they "steal" another couple's reservation, mayhem ensues because of their assumed identities.

Things are beginning to close in with the semester just around the corner and my trip to England on September 14. My eldest son will also be here this weekend and I am looking forward to seeing him.

Deb, my elbow feels fine, but I am not doing any weights still. I am waiting for the doctor's okay for that.

Yep, Josie, I remember when you were looking at colleges, then how your daughter was not happy so far away from home and her transfer back to California. We've been doing this check-in now for how many years? 4 or 5? Deb probably remembers. I still think Pentagenarians sounds like old people who work at the Pentagon. When you guys get a bit older, we will have to change to hexagenarians.

Hi everyone... I'm back. Our trip didn't go as planned. there's something about this particular backpack that is just jinxed for us. We've planned to do it a dozen times and something always goes wrong. once we walked in 6 miles when we ran into a backcountry ranger who refused to let us continue because of "permit error" made by park service, not by us. that was 2-3 years ago. It took us this long to decide it was worth another try.
we checked the reservation system on thurs and friday, and no one, no one was signed up, and the weather was great. it rained saturday and sunday so we planned on going in monday, early. so we get to the ranger station an hour before they open, and all reservations were gone. You have to sign in... in person... within 24 hrs of a trip. we whined for a while. tried to find another destination nearby. Could not come up with anything we wanted to do. decided to do a day hike and go home and regroup. We did a 9-10 mile very gorgeous hike. started out alone but by the time we got out later that afternoon there were hundreds of people milling around the parking area. It's a beautiful spot but too damn busy! Saw a herd of about 30 mt goats.

Decided to try sea kayaking the next day on a small tour in the San Juan Islands. Did it, and it was fun. we've only kayaked a teeny bit and never on open salt water. this was 3 hours of paddling, and neither of us got even a tiny bit sore. (saw seals, porpoises, sea birds) . Thank you Cathe!

Next day we did another hike near mt baker, a very warm and buggy day, about 7 miles round trip. This morning we did a 25 mile bike ride just before it started raining.

So that is it! we ended up having a great time and will put that particular backpack on the back burner for a while.
Deb thank you again for sending me those workout sheets. a question when you're not too tired.... the files came as "read only" & I can't figure out how to save them. Am I doing something stupid?

May the fish-oil mouse RIP!! Date Night is on my netflix queue, I have high hopes...

howdy ya'll, did tracie's new step forward this am. great sweaty workout!!!
am currently driving around looking for land.

Good morning,

I am so glad it is Friday. It's been a long week. I am going to try to get back on track with the workouts starting again on Sunday. I just got another KCM workout in the mail yesterday.it's call 30 Minutes to Fitness-Muscle Definition.

Garance, how much time do you have left before retirement?

Valerie, I guess you just have to skip that back pack trip in the future. It sounds like you had a great time, and got a lot of good exercise in. Check your e-mail

Cathy, good luck in the search for land.

Hi to Josie, and Joan,

what is everyone up to this weekend?

Take care,

Deb we'll do this trip....it's become a "must-do" even if it turns out an average trip. we'll skip for a month and try again. It needs 3 days, too long to do in 2. this year we have 3 day weekends whereas last yr we didn't. As we did our other activities this week it appeared "everyone" was on vacation last week so probably just bad timing. It's not real high or difficult so Oct/early Nov should be fine assuming decent weather and the crowds gone.
I was able to save the files in Word without a problem. I can edit & print new ones as needed. I have the first set saved in email. I'll go back and see why I couldn't save them to word before. Thank you.
Even with all the exercise my pants are tighter again. I get so annoyed that I have to be hungry so much time even to maintain.

and then there are some BIG family problems. I'm not looking for solutions, but I may vent a little. things I can't fix, especially long distance, but many years of bad choices and bad luck are accumulating for sister & brother. health problems, bad job, lost job, it just goes on and on. I've suspected for a long time that my brother can barely read but won't admit it and has managed to bluff his way thru 50+ years. He has hoarding tendencies too and is making a horrible mess of 90 yr old mother's house though he takes care of her. his wife just lost her teaching job. my sister has a mass on her thyroid and the first biopsy didn't get enough material so she needs it repeated, and she's barely hanging on to her totally awful job by a thread, and can't get along with ANYONE. it's endless... Again, I'm not asking for solutions but it could become worse very quickly. DH's father has major health problems and is probably reaching the end of the line but at least there are 3 other functional siblings, all of whom live closer. Aggh. You get the picture.

Deb, in interest of better sleep, can you set up something more comfortable than a sofa? I start the night in our bed but move to the guest room in the middle of the night. I sleep better, so does DH. I'm the one who is the too-warm, restless sleeper. even a king bed didn't help. Being chronically short on sleep makes life tougher for everyone. I come back to "our" bed in the morning and we have coffee together so it's not a hostile situation but decent sleep is so important! we do fine on vacation in a smaller bed so it's more related to both of us sleeping less soundly than we used to.

Cathy, good luck on the land search.
Lynda, England? is this teaching related or a fun trip?
