Good morning,

Just getting us started...I'll be back in a bit. Hope to get a workout in...not feeling it though...:(

Hi,

I ended up doing a premix of Flex Train. The shortest one of course. :). 40 minutes, 242 calories.

A cookout this afternoon at my cousin's house, with HouseMax in between now and then.

Valerie, I agree with you.. the commercial fireworks in parks should be the only ones that are allowed. Actually, it is illegal to even possess them here in NY, but during the 4th of July the cops just basically ignore them and hope no one gets hurt. They are legal in PA and that is where most New Yorkers go to get them.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Good afternoon ladies!

Yesterday I tried out a Peak Fit workout by Michelle Dozios. I bought the set a while ago at 50% off but never got around to it. Well I loved it! Going to try out a few more and perhaps do a rotation of this with Piyo. Yeah I bought this new system from beachbody. It seems to be a combination somewhat of pilates and yoga. I can never stick with yoga so thought I'd see if I would stick with this as I really want the flexibility. I have 30 days to return so figured I'd try it out.

After this and then the new Cathe's I have already preorderd I really have decided enough is enough. I know I have said this before!!!! I have more systems and dvd's and now cathe demand and live. I guess the Cathe Live has made me realize this. I feel every week I have a new workout. I have started weeding thru the ones I never do and plan to sell them off like you girls have done. I have an ebay account so plan to start there.

Seems like everyone in my neighborhood has fireworks. Personally I do not care for it all. We live in a very wooded area and people are asking for trouble. Deb...that is exactly how my little Nilla was with storms and fireworks. Poor thing she would be so stressed. She is 14 and still spry but her hearing has really diminished.

Deb/Judy...have either one of you done KCM's lift up workout 2? Boy did my glutes feel the curtsy squats the following day. Really liked that move.

Looks like a beautiful day for us Lynda!

Have a great day!!!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did KCM's Cardio Sculpt Fitness (70:00), another oldie but goodie. Another circuit workout, but with occasional high intensity intervals--cardio, weights, interval, repeat weights--and then move on to the next cardio. Flies by.

Well, Arthur just kept us totally in rain the whole 4th--some band that extended all the way down to N.C. and was very slow getting out of here. DH did the grilling anyway, so we had a nice meal. Before the meal, we watched the Colombia-Brazil soccer game, and it was WILD. If the referee had stopped for every foul there probably would have been another hour of stoppage time. Brazil won, but they lost one major defender to a red card, and their favorite striker won't be in because of a broken vertebra. It will be very interesting to see them play Germany, because Germany is not so crazy with fouls. It was too wet to really enjoy the town parade or the big re-opening of the Clark Art Museum with their new modern addition. Just stayed at home and cleaned the house and readied everything for our dinner. Heard some fireworks later, but the only thing that really bothers Max are those whistling ones followed by a boom.

Lori, I had my appendix out when I was 28. It does sound like you have a LOT of workouts to choose from. I'm not buying any for awhile, instead going back to ones I did earlier. I am a little tired of doing Cathe every day, so I'm pulling in some other trainers for variety.

Hubbard Street was great at Jacob's Pillow yesterday, and once again, we had such lovely weather. A lot of variety on the program in terms of choreography. There's a Spanish choreographer named Duato that really is wonderful. He had a piece for the Hong Kong Ballet a couple weeks ago and one yesterday for Hubbard that were so, well, sexy-sensual.

Hope everything has quieted down for you Valerie. That sounds horrendous.

Enjoy the rest of the holiday everyone!

Every year it's the same nonsense. all kinds of areas where fireworks are 'illegal" on paper. Deb, probably a lot like what you mentioned. if it's illegal but you can drive a few miles to where it's legal people will do it. here, they buy all manner of devices at indian fireworks stands which are set up temporarily in store parking lots for the couple weeks before the 4th. every year there are brush fires, house fires, and injuries but the regulations are so routinely ignored that law enforcement can barely respond to anything but the worst situations. it's a good example of the futility of passing unenforceable laws.

I've never had any interest in fireworks. some devices are legal, some illegal, and the days/times they can be set off vary too. it's a hodge-podge where a thing is OK one place, 2 blocks away illegal and the whole frigging mess gets totally ignored. we always plan to be home on that night just in case something lands on our roof or in brush that might flare up. everyone just puts up with it because it's impossible to enforce regulations so widely ignored. I still don't have to like it. it's mostly over for the year. some isolated ka-booms last night but that happens much of the year, especially new years eve.

I've totally slacked off workouts lately. not sure what's wrong with my attitude. we've done lots of riding, hiking, and heavy duty garden stuff so not lounging about ... but I need to re introduce some regular workouts especially upper body. . we will be home for a few weeks.

Hi Ladies,

No workout today. Since my grandkids have been here I have not worked out much and I was already feeling lazy after the first two weeks after my ALC ride. The euphoria ran out :(

The kids might leave on Tuesday, so I will get myself back on the wagon starting tomorrow with cxworks and bodyflow total one hour. I have not gained any weight, but I have not lost the 6 lbs I wanted to loose before my trip to Spain.

Had a great time at the 4th of July BBQ and the view of the fireworks was amazing. The kids had a lot of fun,

Have a nice rest of your Sunday!

Josie

Good morning,

Today I did a 35 minute Cardio Coach this morning on the treadmill.

Lori, I know what you mean on having way too many workouts. I felt really good when I sold the ones I really didn't like. Did you mean KCM Muscle Up workout #2? I have done them both a few times, and like really them.

Lynda, bummer on the rainy weekend. A nice excuse not to weed the garden though. We had a great sunny weekend, but I only weeded for about a half hour yesterday. We went out Saturday evening looking for a small cultivator, one that could be used in flower beds, didn't see one.

Does anyone have anything like that?

Valerie, I would say that all the riding, hiking and heavy duty garden stuff you do would definitely count as workouts! Throw in a few push ups and you would be doing a great total body workout. :)

Josie, it sounds like you had a great time with the "peanuts". Don't stress about not working out while you were with them. You will have the memory of the time spent with them, workouts are a dime a dozen and don't make great memories. When did you want to lose those 6 pounds by? A bunch of us over at MFP are doing a 5 pound thing together.

Hi to Judy,

Work, then late class tonight,

Have a good one!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did LLA (48:33), and last night took Max for a 3 mile walk.

No, Deb, we had a beautiful weekend after Friday--crisp, cool nights and sunny days in the low 80s. It was just Friday that was a washout. Today it's humid and they are predicting thunderstorms in the late afternoon. I don't know how much more punishment my hanging plants can take.

Josie, I bet the peanuts kept you moving too--and a lot more fun than working out. Sounds like you had a great 4th.

Valerie, you always sound so active with all your outdoor activities and yoga. I guess you could add a bit of resistance training, but your lower body must get a lot of work.

Hi to Lori and Judy!

Hi Everyone,

We had a busy 4 day weekend. I was able to get a nice run in on Friday.
Friday night I did Cathe's live workout from Thursday, Upper Body Sculpting.
Saturday DH & went on a bike ride at Island Lake & Kensington Metro Park. It was a nice day to ride. Then we grilled chicken kabobs for dinner. We decided to go to the gym around 9 pm and got a short workout in. I was looking forward to a nice relaxing evening after that, but we ended up spending the night at the ER. FIL took a fall and hit his head sometime around 11 pm. The AL facility called DH and we went right to the hospital. FIL was conscious but he had cuts on his face and forehead and arms. They did a cat scan and it was ok so they released him and we had to take him back to the AL facility. It was after 3:00 am when we got home. One good thing, DH found out the facility close to us has an opening now so we can move FIL there. He seems to be needing a lot more care from us lately, so having him closer will really help.

I found an Altus Turbo Tower on Craig's List and am picking it up tonight. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

I'll post more later,

Judy

Good evening ladies!

Slept in this morning. Didn't sleep well at all. Was so nice having the week off then Sunday night comes.

At lunch I did 30 minutes of Barre. My legs felt really worked. No workout tonight. We had a weird intense storm pass through. Trees down and no power in some areas. Only lasted a few minutes but boy did it rain. Our property just had a few large branches in the yard but all an all we are good.

Valerie...I agree you are a very active person! Between your biking and hiking I would never be able to keep up with you and your DH!

Deb...yes the muscle up is what I meant. So I took all the the dvd's I do not use and put them in a box. My DS is putting them on ebay. I feel soooo good about this!

Judy...great job finding the turbo tower! I am sure you will love it. I love my squat rack and use it frequently. I have not done the latest Cathe Live yet but plan too soon. Glad to hear your FIL will be closer. This is good news.

Lynda...I miss walking chester regularly. This weekend we went and he was limping and in pain for several hours after. I called his vet today for options in pain relief. His back left ankle is really arthritic and his current medicine seems to not be doing very much any longer. Yet everywhere else he is fine. My heart breaks for him.

Josie...sounds like a nice time with the peanuts. When do you leave for Spain? I think soon?

Have a great night all!

Lori-thanks, I was so happy to find the tower, I can't wait to start using it.
I'm so sorry about Chester's ankle. I hope your vet can find something that will help him.

Good morning,

very tired today, between the late class last night, and not getting to sleep until about 1:00 am.

Lynda, we are getting thunder storms almost every day now. Not sure what is happening. This is a very strange summer.

Judy, sorry to hear about your FIL. I hope you are able to get him into that place that is closer to you.

Lori, good for you for cleaning out those old DVD's....make room for some new ones! LOL :) Poor Chester. Maybe when he is feeling better, his walks need to be shorter? Have you tried massage?

Hi to Josie, & Valerie,

Work, then home to relax.

Take care,

somehow the message I posted yesterday disappeared. I wonder where things go sometimes...
anyway, I will re type it.

Judy, make sure there hasn't been a change in FiL's meds that are causing the falling problem. we just went thru this with my mother. the berta blocker that was supposed to assist heart function caused other problems for her. Not saying meds are always the problem... he may just be getting up and wandering at night and tripping over things in the dark. better if he's closer to you and DH.

Lori, too bad about chester's ankle. maybe there are other meds to try?

we are wrestling with the new antenna. it sometimes works very well and other times there's a lot of pixilating. all 3 local channels are clear this morning. it seems related to wind that makes the trees move, because the antenna itself is solid. DH is being perfectionist about this. I'm tired of the whole business and am happy to watch news on the one local channel ( NBC) that always is good. I hate it when he switches back and forth so that would reduce an annoyance for me. he switches back and forth between stations to the point I would like to stuff the remote down the sink drain. we could stream these too, but it's not so easy to switch between channels when doing that!

Deb, that is like Montana...thunderstorms every afternoon. we seldom get them here although the mountains are another story, especially on the east side where it's hotter.
this is a very dry time of year for us....actually the only dry time.

Hope we can ride today.... I need the workout. off to yoga.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Jazzercise Dance Hiit (47:00).

Lori, for Maxie and his arthritis in his hind legs, our vet recommended Nutramax Dasaquin with MSM for large dogs. He gets a bit stiff, probably from his all-out crazy runs, and this really seems to help. We buy it from Amazon now, where it is a lot cheaper than buying from our vet. I really enjoy our walks too, but these late afternoon thunderstorms are interfering.

Deb, I think I could use some of that essential-c again if you can find some for me on ebay. My skin just starts looking coarse during the summer and it really helps the texture immensely--must be the astringency of the C.

Judy, I bet things will be far less stress-inducing if you can check in with your FIL at a place that is close.

Valerie, it sounds like you really need a his and hers arrangement on TVs. Really works for us--he watches all of his sports and other stuff upstairs on the 52 inch, and I am downstairs with my 48 inch, and we both have DVRs to record what we like. Just as an aside, your DH sounds like he drives you nuts at times.

We lost power for about 3.5 hours today--no obvious reason. DH had to get the generator going. I think we will be getting a whole house generator, because he has to shift this one back and forth from house to barn and it's crazy.

Lynda, doesn't that drive you crazy when there's no reason? we have debated about a generator but never did it. we have this obnoxious tribal casino only a couple blocks away and I expect our power outages will be less and less. this last winter was very benign and we had nothing significant outs.

went to yoga, did groceries, and then a 31 mile road ride. I can relax now!. I might paint some lawn chairs. I painted our shed already and this would about finish painting for us. our house turned out nicely.

ha ha ... if I can vent a little I don't take out my frustrations on him!. I thought most women find the insane channel switching pretty annoying, so thought I was preaching to the choir. we mostly like the same programs ... it's usually about the news. I'd put on NBC and leave it there, but he just can't do that.

Lori you do more workouts than I can even imagine doing... I think I'd have trouble keeping up with you!. Hope you find some help for chester.

Good morning ladies!

I am up early but debating whether I will workout. I am leaving work early today to take my little Nilla to the vet for a little nagging cough she developed. I'll be home early so will have time to do a longer workout.

Thanks Lynda on the Dasaquin. I looked it up on Amazon and will mention this to his doctor when I go there today for Nilla. We lost power for a few hours on saturday.

Deb.... He was doing really well with our 2 mile walks and long swims in between. We used to go 3 to 4 miles. But yes we may need to cut down even more. :(

Valerie...that is so funny with the channel switching. It must be a man thing. My DH does this and yes it drives me nuts!!!! So you have no cable and rely on antenna for local then Ipad for streaming? As I mentioned before our cable cost is out of control.

Yesterday I did Peak Fit Strength. It was not as intense as Cathe's strength workout but I think I liked it because of this. I felt workout out and not wiped out! Sometimes you need a easier day.

Hi to Judy and Josie!

Good morning,

I slept better last night, but could still use a 2 hour nap today. If only...

Valerie, I have had the disappearing post happen as well. You are so right on the meds...same thing happened to my uncle that is in AL. We have the cheap Radio Shack antenna, really haven't tested it out that much. We get HD for the local stations, ABC, NBC. CBS and PBS. Funny about you and your DH with the TV situation. John has not watched any TV in about 10 years. He has no interest at all. Gets all his news from internet sites, and radio.

Lynda, check your e-mail. I took down the name of the stuff you are giving Max. I have another one like it I get from Amazon, but will check this one out as well.

Lori, we were simulposting! That is the first time that has happened to me here. Try those supplements that Lynda uses with Max. They can't hurt and most dogs respond very well to those. What is Peak Fit strength? Is it a workout series or one DVD?

Ho to Judy, and Josie,

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did XTrain ch, ba, sh (51:15). I also broke my resistance tubing when I was doing those rows. I guess I will have to buy a new one. I took Max for a 3 mile walk before the storms moved in last night.

Thanks, Deb--I will check my email.

Wow, Brazil really bombed against Germany. This makes the USA game against Germany look pretty darn good. DH is hoping it will be Germany vs. Argentina in the final because he doesn't like the ubiquitous floppers on the Netherlands team.

Anyone going to try the new Halle Berry series Extant that starts tonight? I hope it's good. There's also a new series on FX--The Bridge--which I think I will record. It's in the Fargo slot.

Off for schlerotherapy this afternoon. I think this is the last time. Almost no visible veins left.

Got up and did a several mile hike this morning. probably 2.5 or 3m each way. long drive to get there too. goes up pretty high near Mt Baker and Mt Shuksan. a lot of snow before we got up. I will try to find a picture... I don't know how to post our pics easily. we kept going since it's not a real long trail and the view is lovely. the trail goes on way beyond but with this much snow it made no sense to go further. it's so weird how snow melts out. there will be sections of zero snow, then a big section 6 feet deep, and then more clear sections and on and on. it's not that easy to follow in the trees sometimes. still a lovely morning.

we are still wrestling with hulu plus and trying to see why it's not working. we still have the cable hook up as we'd already paid for this month's billing cycle.

we are trying to get those stations too, and some are coming in very well PBS, NBC, ABC sometimes several versions of the station. we are about 45 miles away from the transmission towers. most are in HD which the cable didn't have, or we didn't want to pay extra for. we watch very little regular TV and that's what was so annoying about the price they are charging. we like to get local stories, weather and some days it's obvious nothing is new. there are plenty of good TV shows... actually I think TV series, the good ones, are better than most movies these days. but... I refuse to sit thru the volume of commercials on reg TV and want to watch when I have time, not when the program is broadcast. we never had a way to record from cable though that would be a choice, but then we'd be back to paying a lot. we only had basic cable and other than the major networks, it was mostly crap, like the shopping network. Blech. this will work well for us when we get the kinks worked out.

Lynda, good luck on the last treatment...it must feel wonderful to be done!

Good morning,

I woke up this morning thinking it was Saturday, was ready to go right back to sleep. I am getting my days mixed up a lot for some reason.

Lynda, I am still watching VM. On season 3 and then the movie. Good luck with the schlerotherapy. You will now have the legs of a 20 year old! :)

Valerie, I have not figured out how to tape/record from my TV with the antenna yet either. I have found instructions on the net....have yet to try them. It has something to do with the HD signal and the VCR not being digital. Too much for me to care at this point. Nothing on TV that I want to tape anyway. I watch all the good stuff on my iPad. If Hulu Plus or Netflix would have Fargo, or season 5 of The Good Wife I would subscribe, but they don't so no TV being paid for here.

Hi to Josie, Lori, & Judy,

Work, then home to crash.

Take care,
