Good morning!

Just getting us started. The plan is to do a treadmill workout of some kind, maybe the new KCM one with weights.

Valerie, welcome back! it sounds like you had a nice trip, got to see a lot of wildlife.

Josie, that workout you are doing is called "PeanutMax" :D

Hi to Judy, Lori and Lynda,

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Good morning ladies!

Yesterday was my flex train, LL&A mix and took chester for a nice walk immediately after. I almost jumped in the lake when we stopped for his swim! When I came back I built our fire pit. Had to lug a ton of bricks. This was a workout in itself. So far the fire pit project looks great. We could not be happier as to how it is turning out. What was once an eyesore is turning out amazing!

Deb...today I am going to do Cathe's Live hardstrikes and thinking on KCM's new weight one. The one concentrating on legs. I have not done either of the workouts on the Lift Up so I am looking forward to it.

Welcome back Valerie! Sounds like it was a great week. Nice to see all that wild life. Amazing when you come across so many different ones.

Have a great Sunday everyone! I am officially on vacation! We are staying home due to DH's surgery. Planning on some work around the house and yard work and that is it for the week. No special 4th plans. Which is fine with us.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Christi Taylor's Dance Fit (70:00), and last night, I took Max for a 3 mile walk. I'm pulling out some oldies but goodies. Really enjoyed Dance Fit again.

Jacob's Pillow was so pleasant--perfect weather for sundresses. We liked the second half much better than the first piece. The first piece was somewhat theatrical--based on the macabre imagination of Edward Gorey's drawings and a rather dark piece by Shostakovich. The musicians were really wonderful, though. Most of you probably know at least a little bit of Gorey's work from the opening graphics for Masterpiece Mystery on PBS. The second piece was more like what we are accustomed to with McIntyre. He choreographed a suite of dances to the music of Queen--Freddy Mercury. I'm sure all of you know some of his music--especially "We Will Rock You," which has become an anthem at sports events and "That Crazy Little Thing Called Love." It was wildly wonderful dancing--some great set pieces of tap, and incredible lifts and a lot of humorous interaction between the dancers. I still remember the first piece I saw by McIntyre--a gigantic male dancer in shorts doing dainty little hops across the stage to "Puff the Magic Dragon." Just plain hilarious.

Valerie, it sounds like a lovely little trip. Cracks me up that you don't much care for the people, but love the badgers and bison, the cranes and wolves.

Lori, take a picture of your project for us. It sounds wonderful. Happy vacation.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone!

Here is my weekend project. I still have some finishing touches. Not sure if I am going to cover the sand or leave as a beachy feel to it. Still need more loose stone around the perimeter. Otherwise it is starting to look pretty decent. We plan to try it out tonight!

Good morning,

Today I did KCM Home Gym Intervals.

It's Monday .... but it's a 4 day week! Nice weekend, the weather was a little crazy, a thunder storm yesterday morning, then sauna like heat the rest of the day.

Lori, love the fire pit! So creative. I like it with the sand. I had envisioned that you were going to fill all of the sand circle with bricks, but I think it looks great just like it is.

Lynda, I like your idea of pulling out some oldies, I should do the same. I get stuck in a rut and keep doing the same workouts over and over. I was also thinking about doing the 21 Day Fix workouts again.

Work, (I have a wake to go to this morning, one of my manager's mom passed away), then late class tonight.

Hi to Josie, Judy, & Valerie,

Take care,

The painting is proceeding and I'm getting taped up into my house right now. DH and I will go for a ride as soon as the sun comes out. probably shortly. we have been running around moving things and catching up on gardening projects from last week. I got sore from the hike we did, so this week we are road biking today, mt biking tomorrow and hiking on Wed. then most of the painting will be done. maybe all. but it is going to get hot, especially tomorrow with a high of 87. we can turn on the air if we need to since limited options for opening windows.

Lori, if you wanted to lay landscape brick, you need to edge it with a frame of some kind or the bricks move around. we did a small area like that mostly to cover an area where grass wouldn't grow, plus we had a lot of bricks from a previous patio where we replaced with concrete. the bricks are positioned on a sand base and then surrounded by an edge. you can try it with sand and if you decide to add bricks later. I can't get the pic to blow up, something amiss with the photo program on my computer. will the sand stay in place or blow and track everywhere? keep in mind I can't see the picture very well.

I forget whether I said how much I LOVE our ipad. I LOVE it. I bought a keyboard with it and sometimes use it, sometimes the touchscreen. it worked beautifully on our trip. the phone is the mobile hot spot and then I use the ipad plus keyboard. with the vibration in a vehicle, the keyboard works better than the touchscreen. much easier to connect and do everything than it was with the laptop and the screen is so much easier to see.
I will get an iphone next time we replace. we had an ipod around somewhere too that DH used for work but I never figured out a use. I don't like anything in my ears and am happy with radio for music.

we are trying another antenna. we ordered one online that sounds like it works well, plus a signal booster. this will be the last 'trial" and then we will see what we'll settle with. it's a big antenna, like 8x4 feet so that will be fun getting it onto the roof.

Lynda, YNP is like any other BUSY national park... if you like being around people before you go, by the time a couple days have passed, you won't anymore! I can stand about 2 days and that's it. DH is down to one day. just too many, too loud, too close, too much. makes bison look pleasant and sociable in comparison.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did GG, the premix without the ball (55:40).

Lori, that looks wonderful. Did you enjoy trying it out? Did you build that all by yourself because your DH is recovering? Very impressive! Sounds like we are in for some sticky weather the next few days.

This was the post-performance interview with the dancers on Saturday. There are some video snippets of the tapper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eV7WybOtCfc

Deb, I was really in a rut doing RK every Sunday just because it was a no-brainer. I'm trying to mix it up a little.

Valerie, we did a family vacation in Yellowstone some years ago, and it was probably the height of the summer season with a lot of people. But we were not campers, staying instead in various accommodations you can reserve in advance. We really enjoyed all of it, although one time we waited and waited and waited for this very persnickety geyser to go off, and finally gave up. I love all the wildlife there. I love my IPad too.

Good evening ladies!

Today I did not workout. Had a 3 hour dentist appt. I have a crossbite and thru the years my teeth have paid the price and I ended up needing 5 crowns. Ugh. I have the temps in now and they look so nice. You would never know they are just the temporary ones. It is amazing.

We used the pit last night and we loved it! Had plenty of tiki lamps so no misquitos at all.

Deb...the plan originally was to lay stone...whether it was loose or brick it. We ended up liking the sand so we'll see how it goes. We can always do the stone later. We are having another one tonight. :D

Valerie...so happy you love your Ipad. We love ours and have been so happy with them. We are an Iphone family too. Makes things very simple. Thanks for the tip on laying bricks. I have never done this so good to know.

Lynda...yes...did this all by myself. Poor DH wanted to help but no way could he. I did not mind. I like these kinds of projects and enjoy them. When my DS came home I did have him trim back a few tree branches. I draw the line and will not be on a ladder with a power tool!

Hi to Judy and Josie!!

Hi Everyone,

This morning I did a segment of Core Max, Medicine Ball Abs and a 45 minute Spinerval.

Deb-how did you like Home Gym Intervals? I'll be doing that one as soon as I have the downstairs gym ready. I definitely get in a rut too, doing the same workouts over and over. Hard to get out of that habit though.
So glad it's a 4 day week. I'm looking forward to a 3 day weekend!

Valerie-I'm glad you like the iPad. I love my iPhone and iPod and will be getting a MacBook when I replace my laptop.

Lynda-Jacob's Pillow sounds very nice.

Lori-your fire pit is awesome! You did a great job with it!

Hi to Josie!

Judy

Good morning,

Late class last night so no workout this morning.

Nothing much here, crazy busy at work . I need to retire. I wish the health care wasn't so expensive for retirees or I would be gone. Maybe June 1 next year. Then John would be 64 and almost old enough for Medicare, and I would collect Social Security. The SS monthly payment would cover the health care expense.

Valerie, glad you like the iPad..they are fun aren't they? So are you going to give up cable TV completely?

Lynda, those dancers are excellent!

Lori, you are probably better off without the stone. The sand looks so cool like it is, and no hassle with weeds and grass growing through the stone. Believe me, it will come through.

Judy, I like HGI, the only thing is that I cannot get a good calorie burn from it. It's like I feel like I am working really hard, but the HRM burn is lower than I expect it to be when I am done. I keep thinking I need to go faster on the TM, and use heavier weight but I can't, and still finish. It's strange. There are a lot of good premixes that I want to try too.

Hi to Josie and the "Peanuts"!

Work, then home to stay cool and relax.

Take care,

we are working toward cutting the cable but will be trying the next antenna set up first. it will arrive next week. he is doing the streaming on hulu plus. at this point we can get the news but it's much easier to use cable because DH is a channel switcher. I don't think he watches a minute of one channel and goes to another then a third, then back to the first. I can't stand watching like that. I pick a news channel and watch it.
there is so much stuff on Hulu plus, some good, some not. you need to check each entry because sometimes they are "real" programs of about 45 minutes and sometimes just 2 minute "clips". and there's plenty of absolute crap.

Around here we'd get so much debris on the sand that it wouldn't be "sand" longer than a week. we get tree debris, leaves, grass clippings. for us the bricks are much neater and easier to keep looking nice. maybe because we placed them in an area where things didn't grow well to begin with, we've had little problem with anything coming up thru the bricks.

I don't do many actual workouts in summer so maybe that's why I don't get tired of them. we did a 30 mile ride yesterday. will mt bike today. maybe hike tomorrow depending on how the painting is going. will be very warm today close to 90. the current weather pattern makes it hotter in the mts rather than cooler. I won't hike when it's like that. I over heat badly!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Jazzercise Dancin' Abs (58:00), another oldie but goodie.

Wow, Lori, 3 hours in the dentist's chair. I would either pass out or--hah!--ask to be put under. I agree with Deb--the sand looks great and beachy. Pretty HHH today, but it sounds like the weekend will cool down and be gorgeous--again! We have had some glorious weekends.

Deb, I wish they would just go to single payer on the ACA. That would certainly solve the problem for women created by five old white men yesterday. Nuts! I feel like I'm living in Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale.

No one watching the World Cup? USA vs. Belgium, starts at 4 EST. Go USA!

I had to cut myself off to go to yoga... Lori, my DH can match your dentist chair times. He I has endured a lot... I don't envy you. I did have braces a few years ago, actually about 10 years ago now. it's a PITA but my teeth straightened out nicely and I don't regret it. I was getting some wear and some issues. not too late if it would be helpful.

Lynda... I have lost all respect for the supremes. More nonsense about corporations being a person, and screw all the "real" people this will affect. not to mention generating a whole batch of similar lawsuits just to save corporations a few $$. it is embarrassing in this time for women to have to fight and argue just for basic birth control. and of course Viagra and it's sort are covered with no questions asked.

Good afternoon ladies!

This morning I did Cathe's Live low impact hardstrikes. Never did it the other day and today I felt like a good upper body workout. I do this entire workout on the heavy bag and I love it. This may be my favorite Live class so far.

Lynda...yes very HHH here today. Not complaining at all. Took forever to feel like summer here so I will take the heat and humidity.

5 crowns is a lot of dental work all at once. My appt was at 9:00am and I left at 12:10pm. My face was numb well into the evening. Hate that feeling.

Valerie...good for you getting braces. If my cross bite could be fixed with braces I would do them in a heart beat. However, I am told at this pint I would need jaw surgery. Not going to happen. My bite is not noticeable unless I show you my teeth then you can see my jaw extends a little more than it should. It could have been corrected by braces when I was a child but growing up in a single family household my mom barely made ends meet. Braces were not an option.

Deb and Lynda...the sand is growing on us and we are going to leave it and see how this season goes with it.

Thanks for the World Cup reminder Lynda....going to tune in after I send this reply.

Josie...I am sure you are having a great time with the peanuts!

Judy...I would love to have a mac book. I love everything apple. How is the basement gym coming along? You need to send pictures.

Here is Nilla and me last night enjoying our fire.....

Good morning,

No workout today, very tired for some reason.

Valerie, I used to have the free version of Hulu, but for some reason, I can't get to it anymore. Then I was going to subscribe to Hulu plus until I found out that the shows I wanted to see were not on there anyway, so I gave up on that. The only thing I have not figured out how to do with the antenna is record on my VCR. I have the instructions downloaded from Google, but have not tried it yet. I guess you give up DVR service when you give up cable as well. I never had it so don't miss it. When I first read this, I thought you were talking about Diana Ross ..."I have lost all respect for the supremes"...LOL!

Lynda, I don't really support single payer, but that's another whole thing. Not watching the World Cup. Just hearing bits and pieces on the talk radio show I listen to on the way to work,

Lori, love the pic, it looks like the place to be! It sounds strange having a fire when it's in the high 70's here at night.

Judy, yes send some pics when you get your basement done. I can use a few pointers. Mine is a disaster. So much stuff.

Anyone have any plans for the weekend? My cousin and I have pedi/mani appointment for Saturday morning, otherwise, just bumming around here, doing whatever comes up. My kind of time off. No agility classes Friday or Saturday because of the holiday weekend.

Hi to Josie & the Peanuts.

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Burn Sets bis and tris with core 1 (47:40).

Love the picture, Lori! Is a crossbite the same as an underbite? I had an underbite and when my sons had braces, I went ahead and had them too. No surgery, but they did have to pull two of my lower teeth. I'm glad I did it. Same problem--single mom, not a lot of extra money for things like braces.

Deb, Medicare is single payer. Are you opting out of Medicare because it's single payer? DH's parents are coming over for a cookout on Friday and Jacob's Pillow on Saturday for me. I think this heat wave is supposed to break by then.

Ahh, the World Cup! The goalkeeper for USA was just plain wonderful. I have a fondness for goalkeepers, given my son's position at Gettysburg. It was an exciting game to the very end.

I don't know what a cross bite is either. I should have had braces as a kid but that was a luxury we couldn't afford. I was getting some wear on the edges of my teeth and they were tilted a bit more over time so I dove in at about 55 and did it. so glad I did though it took almost 3 years. I have good teeth and they didn't move easily but no extractions needed. so many more choices available than there used to be. insurance covered about half of it so it wasn't ridiculous.

Tee hee Deb... no I meant supremes as in Scalia & company, not Diana Ross! I googled it. no justice has ever been removed from the supreme court, believe it or not. not one has been impeached. a lot of people think it might be a good idea now, loads of links. he is such an arrogant jerk. Ginsberg ...I never appreciated her enough.

Did a nice hike today, about 3 hours. lovely day out there, and not real long but messy. more of a route, not a trail.

I have been quite pleased with medicare plus a supplement. it's worked very well. not hard to manage. stuff is covered and not complicated. I hope as a country we can move that direction.

Good evening ladies!

This morning I did Turbo Barre. Everytime I do this one my legs feel like jello. Of all my barre dvd's I swear this one burns my glutes the most. Then tonight we went to our favorite mexican restaurant. Felt like my workout went out the door!

Below is a picture from google of a crossbite similar to mine. It's not a real mouth so it won't gross you out! The only difference is my front teeth are flush against my bottom which should not be either. My side teeth look like this picture which throws off my bite and has damaged my teeth throughout years. You do not really notice unless I am showing you which I do not go around asking people if they want to see my cross bite!

Ok now you know more about a crossbite than you ever imagined you would.

Valerie...that really is awesome at 55 you dived in and did it. Good for you! Even with insurance paying half it is still a hefty bill. But it needs to be done. Very funny about Diana Ross! I actually thought the same as Deb because I just read an article about the supremes. LOL!

Lynda...sad about USA today. I heard we lost. I never ended up watching. My DH and I ran some errands before going out to eat. Was soooo hot today. My hair is a frizzy mess. Have you been following the storm Arthur?

Deb...even thought it has been warm at night when it cools down a small fire is always nice. We do not go too crazy big.

Hi to Josie and Judy!!

Hi Ladies,

No workout today. My oldest grandkids woke up with a stiff neck and has been suffering from it all day :). I went to body pump yesterday but no workout today.

On Friday one of my friends invited us to her house in the hills of West Hollywood to celebrate the 4th and to watch the fireworks through out the city. She has an amazing view.

Tomorrow I will be attending the funeral of my dear neighbor who passed away last Friday. She was a wonderful lady who welcomed us to the neighborhood 14 years ago. Her husband is 96 and will probably not last long without her :(

Have a nice rest of the week everyone.

Josie
