Good Morning,

I am sitting here with a cup of coffee getting ready to start Meso 3. Then I have stuff to do around the house, and want to get some weeding done in the yard.

Garance, do you have the giant zinnias? I like those ( they get up to36 inchs) because they make wonderful cut flowers. They do take up a lot of room though. I had too many as well and may have planted them too close together. We shall see. Yes, I use the workout sheets provided from STS, but did not complete the 1RM;s. I found that you can enter the weight you want to use, right on the workout sheet, ( through the 1RM choice) and it automatically calculates your 1RM based on that. Then it is carried through the future workouts, so it is pretty easy. I have to have a sheet to record on, or guide for weights. I would waste too much time trying to remember what I used last time etc.

Cathy, we ARE alike with the weighing, etc. I weighed all the BB's I have, by getting on the scale and subtracting etc. Then I put their weights on a Post It in my workout area. This way I can have some of them permenently set up with a certain weight for easy switching.

Hi to Joan, Josie and Linny!

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did disk 28 again for chest and back (65 min.). This one has one of the funnier or strange comments by Cathe. At one point she tells you to be sure to drink water because if you are breathing heavily, those "vapors" in your body dry things out and you need to replenish fluids. Vapors? Reminds me of the olden days when delicate women would have a "fit of the vapors" and faint. Bring out the ammonia vial! Probably from wearing their corsets too tight.

Well, Deb and Cathy, now I feel very slovenly for poor record-keeping. My problem at this point is that I need to buy some 25s and 30s for dumbbells and I'm just plain tired of buying more STUFF. So what good is it to do all this itemization if I cannot really do things perfectly?

Yep, my zinnias are the State Fair variety and will need to be staked at some point because they get so tall. I also bought some lovely nasturtiums-so delicate I love them.

Good afternoon all,

I didn't do anything yesterday. Today should be disc 15 . I did miss two days of cardio but at least my knees are ok.

LOL! fox2star, i love it. that is what i do. always have 'em ready. i think i am gonna be so more efficient doing STS the 2nd time. starting it tomorrow, if i'm alive. had a BAAAAADDDD migraine all day. have been totally lifeless. did n't go to church, did nothing but lay on the couch.

aww garance, don't feel slovenly, for pete sake , YOU DID STS!! that is anything but slovenly.:)

what are ya'll's names???

wow, must be nice to have flowers and even weeds. we have nothing. it has been 100' for the last two days and we hare in a major drought. the heat and wind just makes it worse.

Hi Deb, Garance, Linny, Josie and Cathy,

I ended up doing a premix for Step Blast and a premix for Step, Jump and Pump and disc 15.:D

Deb I could hear the scaping in my knees on all the lunges. Usually I am ok with the stationary lunge. I think I should do legs instead of disc 16 tomorrow. I don't know if I will do disc 17 or just find some floor exercises. My knees feel fine now but it took three days.

Monday Madness

Good Morning!

Today was the second workout in the "Couch to 5K" attempt. I am not liking that the calorie burn on these is lower than my usual I-Tread, but will try to stick it out and hopefully when there is more jogging than walking the calories burned will increase.

Garance, LOL on Cathe's comments regarding vapors. I think she runs out of things to talk about in the long rest periods and starts rambling. On disc 25 she mentions the same concept, "you are breathing hard so you have to keep drinking water," but she didn't say vapors. Are you doing Plyo legs at all or the squat disc? I viewed some of the exercises in Plyo legs and no way am I doing those!

Joan, Can you sub something else when she does the exercises that hurt your knees?

Cathy, When you do STS the second time, will you do 1RM testing again or just go back and up them in the workout manager? I never had a migraine, but know people that do and it is horrible. I feel for you. Sorry about the name thing...my name is Deb.

Hi to Josie & Linny.

Deb

Hi Ladies,

I did all my workouts as posted on Friday. Today I will be spinning at 5:15. I have lost 4 pounds so far and I can see my body changing already. Kevin keeps trying to get me sore,
but I told him that my legs have alwas been very strong and it will take a lot more for me to get sore. I still get a very good wrokout.

My DD and I went shopping for a new lookd for her bedroom and her DH helped her move the furniture around. They are going to paint the room next weekend.

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did LIS and HIS from 4ds (57 min. premix).

Cathy, my real name is Lynda, but Garance is the name of one of my favorite characters from Les Enfants du Paradis (an old French film by Michel Carne and Jaques Prevert). The actress was Arletty. Great film! Is Drover from Australia? I just watched that last night, and that is Hugh Jackman's name/ work title.

Deb, there's no way I'm doing the plyo disks. That's why I bought the vest to add 10 lbs to what I can get over my head on squats and lunges.

Joan, why don't you just do static lunges if the lunges are too hard to negotiate? You could also do them very shallow. Meso 3 is static lunges.

Josie, good for you on the weight loss and changing body! Sounds like you have found a real winner in Kevin.

Hi to Linny, wherever you are!

Good afternoon,

Garance I did only do static lunges with less weight in meso 1. I hoped I could do more with meso 2. I also feel like I need to hit more areas. I'm hoping that between static lunges, squats and floor work I can start seeing results. Meso 1 just didn't seem to do much although I can lift heavier.

I remembered to weigh today. 165lbs down 2 lbs. I have been eating 1200 calories a day except for Friday which was a little more. I had planned to go back to 1400-1500 calories a day but sure like the weight loss.

Josie Yea for weight loss but toning is even better.

Hi to Linny and Deb
Joan

It's Tueday

Good Morning!

Today I did another "Couch to 5K" workout, this time upping the jogging to 90 seconds, walking 2 minutes, for a total of 30 minutes.

Josie, WTG on the weight loss!

Garance, I am looking forward to my leg workout tomorrow! My how things have changed since Meso 1 LOL...

Joan, another High ^^^ to you for the weight loss! Have you ever tried zig zagging calories? That is where you eat less for 3 days then a day of more, go back to 3 of less etc. It keeps the metabolism up, not letting the body go into "starvation" mode. It would kind of be like what you said you were going to do, 1200 for 3 days, then a day of 1500, then back to 1200 for 3 days etc.

Hi to Cathy & Linny.

Off to shower, have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies,

Weight training day today plus a 45 minute walk. My DD told me that I looked thin this morning and I got a complement from a gentleman at the coffee shop. He said that I alway look radiant. Made me feel very good!

Today will be my 10th session with the trainer and I'm enjoying it very much. It is worth every penny.

Linny, Where are you? We miss you.

Josie

Hi there,

At home for lunch..

Josie, glad you are getting so much out of the trainer...

.I am worried about Linny..:(

Hi Deb, Linny (?), Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did disk 38 for legs (a little over 60 min.) for the second time. I don't think I can repeat the final two weeks of meso 3 because I expect them to be TOTALLY BORING! I did manage to get in some abs between sets, but the rests are just too long for me. My mind wanders, I start gazing out the window at the bull, who is trying to impress the cows by butting his head against the telephone pole in the middle of the pasture (they are so NOT impressed) and pawing the ground a bit.

Anyway . . . maybe Deb we will be finishing meso 3 together now that I have decided to just go through the final 6 disks once. I have had doms occasionally, but not on the legs, even with the heavier weight and the vest.

DH is getting very grumpy about the weather. We have had 3 inches of rain in less than a week. Everything is soggy and he can't cut hay!

Congrats to Josie and Joan on the weight loss and Josie, you must give us more details about what Kevin has been doing for you. Circuits? Plyo? Send a little radiance our way.

Hi to Cathy and Linny!

Wednesday

Good Morning,

I took today off so I slept in until 5:30, then got up and did the Leg workout for Meso 3, week 1. I like the exercises in this one, very straight forward, but the rests are waaaay too long.. It was a 60 minute workout that could realsitically be done in 40 minutes.

I am taking Kelsey to the vet this morning to have her ears checked. She has a problem hearing and I want to make sure it is nothing that can be fixed, like ear wax or an infection. If it is old age, then ok, but I don;t want to assume that and have her not hear because I made that assumption. She hates going to the vet, is very scared. She pants, and shakes, and it is awful, but I think it needs to be checked.

Josie, isn't it great when others notice the accomplishments you have make with weight and working out? That was nice of that gentleman, was he trying to pick you up? LOL:D

Garance, LOL about the rests and gazing out the window. At least you can look out a window. I am in the basement with glass block windows so nothing to look at. I start seeing what a mess the room is and getting agitated that DH needs to clean up some of his junk...not good for the mental state while working out. I didn;t do ab work, maybe I will next week.. what strange weather, you are getting so much rain and we need it badly right now.

Cathy, did you start STS again this week?

Joan, how are you doing? are you babysitting this week?

Does anyone have Linny's e-mail address? I hope she is ok.

Have a good day!

Good morning,

Monday I worked all day and then babysat at night.-no wo

Tuesday Car trouble again:mad::mad: I really shouldn't complain. Car wouldn't start but I wiggled battery cable and got it started so I could take to mechanic. It turned out to be the connector to the battery and they replaced for free. Surely there isn't much old stuff left under the hood.-no wo

Finally no poison ivy on face so I could use face stuff. I still love it.

I hope I get energy to get some wo in today.

Sorry about Kelsey. We even took our old cat to eye specialist but he went blind anyway. He always road to vet in pillow case and only got nervous when he got into office and could smell the other animals. Current kitty has pet carrier and cries the whole way there.

Sounds like I could watch tv and do meso 3. Every commercial is a set.
Joan

Hi Ladies,

I had a great wo yesterday and will be spinning tonight(45min). My upper body is a bit sore today because of push ups. My food intake has been good and tomorrow I have my nutrition meeting with Kevin. I gave him 6 day journal that he wanted me to complete and the will base the changes that need to be made from there.

Garance, Here is my wo for Tuesday so that you can get an Idea. We warm up by running in place, jumping jacks stretches and squats for about 5 minutes sometimes more.
Then he sets up 5 stations where we spend one minute on each and do it 4 times with a 15 second rest in between.

S1- step ups holding 15lb weights
S2- rows while squating
S3- ab work on the ball (such as planks) regular sit ups etc.
S4- butt lifts with one foot on the step and the othe up in the air
S5- push ups on the ball + a roll in with the knees for ab work. Cathe does these on some of her dvd's.

The workouts change every time. I have not done the same thing twice yet and I just completed my 9th session yesterday. By the time I do the second set I'm already sweating buckets.
After the wo we do cardi on the bike at a fat burning setting for 15-20 minutes and then I usully walk for 40 minutes after.

Deb, The guy just complemented me, I was with my DD at the time.

Hi to Deb and Cathy and Linny.

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Kimberly Spreen's Cardio Combat Surge (70 min.).

Deb, you are such a good 'mommy' to your dogs. Maybe it's just earwax. Does Kelsey shake her head at all? I agree with you on how short these leg workouts would be without the rests. Basically, yesterday, I did 28 squats, 28 deadlifts, 28 lunges per each side, and 28 front squats. How long would that take if you did it consecutively as opposed to breaking it up into 7, 2.5 min. rest, 7, 2.5 min. rest . . . ? Probably about 30 min.

Deb, I sometimes notice that linnyrn is online when I look at the names at the bottom. I wish she would let us know how she is.

Josie, it sounds like a circuit workout like some of Cathe's--especially Boot Camp from the Intensity series. Maybe I will do some of these when I finish meso 3.

Joan, wow, I've never had poison ivy on my face! I would have scratched myself raw. Car troubles are no fun.

Hi to Cathy and Linny, wherever you are!

LOL! that is funny, lynda. drover was the name of my black&tan hound dog. i figured i could remember it.
my email address is my horses name.

hey deb, good to know your name:) ok, 1rm, i did not go back and do all of them. i am upping my weight by 1#, and then i am editing this time around and it automatically redoes your 1rm. that is the way i understand it anyway. and plyo legs is really fun. it is not as bad as you think. becuz the plyo parts are very short. i was scared at first too. cuz , plyo's in her other workouts are like killer. but, i did the whole thing and even the tuck jumps and the air jacks. i was VERY SURPRISED!

and it is still 100 and HOT, HOT, HOT. nasty hot. we are praying for rain.
cathy

Thursday, one day before Friday!

Good Morning.

Today I did disc 27 ( I think that's what the number was), Shoulders, Biceps & Triceps. I liked this format a lot. Plus we went back to only one minute between sets.

Joan, I remember having cars like the one you have now. Always something going wrong. They were very nice to replace that battery connector for free . I can't imagine having poison ivy on your face...yes you could watch TV between sets in the Leg workouts. I may fast forward, although she warns us not to...hee hee..how would she know?

Josie, great workout! this Kevin seems to be right on with what it is you need.

Garance, unfortunetely, not ear wax. Things could never be that simple..the is concerned about her thyroid levels, possibly what is affecting a lot of what is happening with her lately.. She has been on thyroid meds for years, and we lowered them about a year ago after doing blood work, but now he thinks they may be too low, hence her sleeping all the time. Plus the other leg she hurt, not the surgery one, is not 100%, so she is compensating for that. We are doing a short term steroid treatment for that, and waiting for the blood work for the thyroid meds. I also saw at the bottom, Linny is listed, as being on line..I think that is a mistake, because she is listed there no matter what time of day I pop into the site...unless she has her computer permanently on that check in site, not shutting down at all.

Cathy, I went over and viewed some of the plyo exercises from the plyo legs, and you are right, they don;t look too bad, only I am still worried about the impact on my lower back. I started the Couch to 5K workouts as my cardio, and am getting some leg twinges at night...not good. I had surgery about 8 years ago and never want to have that leg pain again.

it has been raining here since last night...we really needed it.

Have a great day!

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did disk 30 (63 min.) for sh, bis, tris.

Rain again today and barely into the 60s on the temp. DH did manage to get in all of the hay he cut, but he has so much more to do.

Deb, maybe the vet will be able to adjust Kelsey's meds. I hope so. I can tell how fond you are of her. Does Keegan give her a hard time? I'm with you on the plyo stuff. I do a little bit here and there--the surges on Kimberly Spreen and some hopping and leaping on HIS--but I try to modify all impact to make it less. SYTYCD was excellent again last night. I will be curious to see who is eliminated tonight.

I'm trying to decide whether to repeat the next 6 disks like I have been doing. It would bring me right up to our vacation, four weeks away, so I may tough it out and put up with the boredom on legs. Then, when I come back, re-think everything and maybe do circuits like Josie. What do all of you think I should do?

Hi to Joan, Josie, and Cathy!
