Good Morning!

Today I did STS #13, chest, shoulders and triceps. I know I am really going to like this Mesocycle. Slower reps, more controlled, longer rest between sets. It is really cold here today, although sunny. I still will not put out flowers. I guess it will be next weekend. Today I have a bridal shower anyway so planting would not happen.

Garance, so you will have a lot of frozen chicken coming. how long does it take them to mature to when you slaughter them? I don't think I could do what you are doing, watching them peck each other etc...it's to the super market for my chicken.

Joan, cars are like a ball and chain around our necks, always pulling at you and wanting attention! I just had one of mine inspected, oil change etc, $65. But what would we do without them? You are doing well on the STS paper plate exercises, I keep trying but don;t think I will ever be able to get down low enough to pick up a weight.

Josie, here's to Manhatten!

Linny, I hope you are enjoying getting ready for that new kitchen!

have a good one!

Hi Deb, Linny, and Joan--

This morning I did disk 22 for the second time and the no-equipment abs.

They are predicting a frost here tonight. I'm glad I didn't succumb to the temptation awhile ago and do any planting.

Deb, the chickens are ready at about 3 months. If they get above 5 lbs, they turn into fowls, and according to DH, are really only good for stewing--too tough. I expect they will taste much better than store-bought, because they won't be so pumped up with hormones. It's the same with our grass-fed beef which tastes so much better than the beef you buy at the grocery store with all of the hormones and antibiotics in the grain they are fed. I knew you would like meso 2. Not sure how I am going to handle meso 3, since the plyometrics are probably wrong for my knees, and I don't have a squat rack. I guess I will just have to go with whatever I can get over my head and wing it.

Joan, I am very fortunate about car maintenance--DH does the oil change and replaces brake linings, rotors, and always seems to know when something is about to need doing from the dealer.

Hi to Linny and Josie in the big apple!

Hi Garance, Deb, Linny and Josie,

I did rythmic step yesterday and just finished abs.

Weather today was beautiful. Not too hot and no rain. Tomorrow 73 degrees and Tuesday 83 degrees. No rain for the whole week.

Joan

It's Monday already!

Good morning!

I did 35 minutes on the treadmill this morning. We took in the 6 packs of flowers last night because of the threat of frost. I am not sure what the temp got down to yet. I went to the bridal shower yesterday, and it was nice. The bride to be has never had to do any cooking or anything, and I swear she did not know what half the things she got were used for. She commented that the pizza pan she got would be good for re-heating the take out pizza from the night before...she was kind of surprised when someone said, "no, you make your own with that", and she said, "people do that?"....

Garance, yes, I remember making chicken soup with large chickens as my Mom used to say the same thing, get the older bigger ones for soup, they have more flavor, but they were too tough to eat otherwise. I don't plan on doing the Plyo leg workouts either. I may view one, but if there is a lot of impact, I will stick to the other leg workout and just lift as heavy as I can. I have a weight bench that has uprights that you can make into a squat rack, but it is still hard to hold a lot on my shoulders and it is not worth an injury. Even if you hold heavier dumbells at your sides, it's better. How heavy do your dumbbells go up to?

Joan, do you have Elliott this week?

Linny you must be in kitchen madness right now!

Josie, can't wait to hear about NY

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did Rhythmic Step. I still love this one. How about you, Joan?

"People do that?" That's hilarious Deb! I guess they don't have Home Ec classes anymore where at least the rudiments of cooking are taught. Maybe it's not politically correct anymore to have girls learn how to cook and sew and boys in shop learning how to saw, hammer, and drill. Sounds like you are going to do the best you can with weights on meso 3 as well. I only have 2s, 3s, 5s, 8s, 10s, 12s, 15s, and 20s, but I have two barbells, and one of them could load to 120, but I could not get that over my head anyway. The best I can do is about 45 or 50.

Tonight is the final 24 2-hour episode. Is DH still watching, Linny?

Josie, how was your mini-vacation?

Hi Ladies:
How come weekends go so fast:confused: Busy with new kitchen, bought cabinet hadware.I didn't realize hardware would be so expensive.DH said he saw one of the templates at granite store,he couldn't believe how much it sparkled. He put up some accent lights under the cabinets sothe granite will really so up at night. Was DS's birthday yesterday, had a little party for him.Saturday went to lake and put boat lift in water.DH getting all excited about summer coming.
Deb:I was really surprised how cold it was when I got up this morning.Glad I didn't plant any of my Mothers Day flowers yet.Sounds like you're doing really well in the workout dept.
Garance:Yep,DH is watching 24 as I write.I can't wach because I never got to watch any before so now I can;t follow. I did watch season finale of Desperate Housewives last night.
JoanC:We are suppose to warm up towards the end of week.I have a big birthday party to go to saturday so I hope the weathers good.
Josie:Hope you are having a great vacation!!
~Linny~

Tuesday

Good Morning!

I just finished a 30 minute I-Tread. It's still pretty chilly outside. Right now it is 36 degrees..brrrrr...I forgot to bring in my Zinnias last night, I hope they are ok..

Garance, well tomorrow is the first leg workout for me for Meso 2. I hope it is not too difficult. Legs are my least favorite part to work. In my 20's and 30's they were my favorite part to work, not sure what changed that. I did not watch DWTS last night, I will watch the tape tonight.

Linny, it sounds like your kitchen is really coming together nicely. Yes, I am doing ok with the workouts, but eating is another story. I gained a pound in the last 2 weeks...how are you doing with Atkins?

Hi to Joan & Josie!

Have a great day..

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did disk 23 for the second time for legs.

Deb, I couldn't watch DWTS last night because I had to watch the finale of 24. We did have a frost last night, but all the weathermen are predicting 80s by tomorrow.

Linny, do I detect some excitement about your sparkling new kitchen? 24 was really exciting last night, and there were several plot threads dangling at the end, so that you can already see where the fun begins next season. Did you know you can watch episodes on your computer? You could probably catch up---if you really wanted to, of course.

Are you suffering from jet lag, Josie? How was the big apple?

Hi to Joan!

Good afternoon all,

I couldn't post last night because site was down for maintenance.

So many errands yesterday I didn't get any wo in. Just finished with Elliot so will look at calendar and see how I can catch up. I think it is disc 7, abs and Imax.

The car was the connection to the starter. I think they thought they should have changed that when motor was put in because they didn't charge me.

Official Monday weigh in 170lbs. This was a total surprise. I wore gwf all week and kept track of calories eaten. I used more than I ate.

Linny when I redid kitchen I only got new countertop and new hardware. I was surprised at price also and you need so many of them.

Garance rhythmic step is usually the one I use to substitute for kickboxing or high impact. I like it.

Deb, 36 degrees! I couldn't take weather like that. I'm ready for spring as soon as tax season is over. Of course saying that I don't even have tomatoes in yet.

Bbl with wo.

Back again,

I decided on medicine ball abs and Imax. I also did 3 miles on treadmill. Anything to get calorie burn up.

I will switch disc 7 to Wed., disc 8 to Fri and catch up with disc 9 on Sunday. I should be caught up by Monday.

Joan

~Jumping Over the Hump~

Good Morning!

I just finished STS # 14 Legs. This meso leg work is more likeable, even the paper plate ones are the type I can handle.

Does everyone like the changes on the site? I think she made some good improvements.

Garance, you were right in this meso cycle. it is so much more straight forward, and I like the way she does the tri-sets. I didn't watch DWTS last night, will watch the tape tonight. I will also avoid reading anything on MSN, ( my home page), I want to be surprised for this one. I didn;t think Melissa & Tony were that good on Mondays show for some reason, but you never know what the fans will do.

Joan, was the weigh-in result a good surprise or a bad one? If you were not happy with it, remember, do not weigh yourself after a weight lifting day. I found that you will always be heavier after that. Weigh the morning after a cardio day.

Hi to Josie & Linny!

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did Kimberly Spreen's Cardio Combat Surge (70 min.).

Deb, I know who won the DWTS because they performed this morning on Regis and Kelly. I was surprised. By the way, the host chat this morning was hilarious. Regis apparently took an Ambien the night before and he surpassed his usual level of forgetfulness. You can watch the host chats after 3 on their website.

Met for lunch with my Jacob's Pillow friends. Beautiful today, so we ate outside and I enjoyably frittered away 2 1/2 hours. A seafood quiche that was just so-so.

Joan, were you up or down in the weight? Good news or bad news? I weigh myself once a week.

Tomorrow is mammogram day. Blech!

Hi Ladies:
Worked late last night, helped a nurse with an admission.By the time I got home ate dinner it was time for bed:(. My boss told me today I have to stop helping the nurses and get my other unit manager duties done. She said the regional manager noticed I helped the nurses alot.I know if I don't help them the work they are suppose to do will not get done and then it falls on my shoulders anyway. Its a never ending battle.
Deb:I'm still doing Atkins.Today was weigh-in,I lost the 2 pds I gained last week. The scale doesn't want to move past 163:(. I do like the new look of site but wasn't able to get on last night.Kept saying server error.
Garance:I am pretty excited about kitchen now.It finally coming all together.DH put up all the molding above cabinets, looks very handsome. Can't wait till granite is in place.Good luck with your mammogram tomorrow.I screwed up my appt last week.I thought I had md appt last friday, got out of work early and found out its this friday.I think Alzheimers is setting in early.
JoanC:We are suppose to have some HOT weather tomorrow. They say the 90's.DH is going to the lake where we have a RV and put the boat on the lift. He's ready for the summer.I'm not, still having problen with hives and raynaund's.I have appt to see specialist on June 12th.I hope she has some answers. Good job with working out,I don't think I'd have the energy after babysitting all day.
Josie:Hope you are having a great time in NY.
~Linny~

Good evening all,

Deb and Garance I had gained 2 1/2 lbs. I'm not sure if it was abs or cardio on Sunday. I weigh in on Monday mornings. After being so careful last week it's been very hard to eat right this week. Because my brother is in town we have eaten out for the last three days. I don't want to get back to the 173lb I started with back in November.

Linny good luck with your job. I am so happy that with my work I don't have anyone else to worry about. I may have to do all the work but at least I know it is done right. My work stress is always because I need more time but at least I could take on less work if it really bothered me ( or I didn't need the money)

Dil called today and said she could tell Elliot has been around me lately. Elliot asked for vegetables at supper time. I did a semi poor job with my sons' nutrition and I want Elliot's to be as close to perfect as I can at my house since it is only semi good at home. No blame there, it is very hard to cook when you have worked all day. Dil prepares good balanced meals but when she doesn't cook it is fast food.

It has been beautiful all week here but is supposed to rain Sat., Sun. and Monday.

I have been so tired today and with another day filled with errands I haven't done wo yet.

I hope I do something.

Joan

It's Thursday Ladies!

Good Morning!

Today I did disc #15, Back & Biceps, and I am fried! It's nice and warm here today, at 4:00 when I went outside to get Keegan back in, it was surprisingly warm.

Garance, I ended up knowing who won DWTS because MSN had it right out there yesterday, which I thought was crappy to do...anyway, I kind of thought that Melissa would be out, after watching Monday's show. Then when I went to watch Tuesday's last night, I found that I only had the tape run for an hour, instead of 2 hours...sheesh, what I dork I am sometimes. I went to ABC and at least saw the last minute when they said who won...I missed the part where they did their favorite dances again.. I got the weighted gloves from Cathe here, I got the smalls and they fit fine over my regular lifting gloves. Did you ever get them? Good luck with the boob squish!..

Linny, do the nurses that you have to help actually work for you? Is there some way you can get them to do their own jobs? I bet your kitchen is looking awesome by now! Can't wait to see some pics. Get yourself to that mammogram girl!

Joan, I am with you on the food issue, I can go a couple of days doing well, then bang, it hits and I seem to go crazy eating everything in sight. It's great that you are getting Elliott to eat vegetables! Most Grandma's are all about the cookies! Did you end up doing any workout yesterday?

Josie, we are waiting to hear about NYC!

Have a great day!

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did disk 24 for the second time (45 min.) and tacked on med ball abs.

The weather is so lovely today. Already 84 degrees and low humidity. Just warm and the heat feels good.

Joan, I think it's really hard to eat out a lot and not gain weight. The portions are always so big, and sometimes you think you are eating something healthy, but the way they prepare it is calorie-laden. In advance at the sports banquet, I asked for baked haddock, thinking, "How bad can that be?" Well--really bad, swimming in butter and topped with buttery bread crumbs. I ate half.

Deb, I saw both Gilles-Cheryl (Argentine tango) and Melissa-Dan (?) this morning on Regis and Kelly. Loved the tango. I think Cheryl might be the best choreographer. I really enjoy seeing them out of costume.

Linny, it sounds like you are caught between a rock and a hard place with your job. Maybe when your nurses ask for your help, you should tell them that you have only 15 minutes to give them and then they will have to fly solo.

Are you back, Josie??

Good evening,

I didn't get any exercise in yesteday.

Today I had Elliot from 7:30 until 4:00 and then went to their house to babysit from 5:30 until 8:30. Since they were going to a memorial service I didn't think I could say no.

Tomorrow I have to look at calendar and figure out how to catch up. It may be this is my rest week.

You really have to watch the calorie counter on this site. I had a double cheeseburger from SteakNShake. I had to enter 2 double cheeseburgers to get the calorie count right. I always think that the people who say they aren't losing but eating so little aren't really keeping track. Of course I say the same thing.

Joan

Finally Friday!

Good Morning,

I did a 35 minute I-Tread this morning. Last workout for the week! I was supposed to be off today, but have to go in and do some stuff.....Linny isn't the only one that has some issues with people at work..

Garance, I agree with you on eating out. They keep upping the portions, and if you are sitting there enjoying talking etc, before you know it you have cleaned your plate and are stuffed. I have to tell myself before I start that I am bringing half home. I agree on Cheryl being a good dancer/choreo. What do you think about the new Pro that will start next season? I wonder why they have so many that they don;t use, like Louis Van Am (?)...etc. Maybe to give them breaks or something. Editda ( ?) has been on every season.

Joan, I have never tried the calorie or nutrition part of this site. I think you have to pay for it correct? I used to use FitDay, and tried Sparks People for a bit, they were both free and very easy to use.

Hi to Linny& Josie,

Have a great day!

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did 4 Fast Miles with Leslie (50 min.).

Deb, I think they wait until they know who the celebrities are going to be before asking the pros to return. Regis asked Cheryl if she would be back next year, and she said she wouldn't know for awhile because they like to make these matches. I suspect Edyta is back every year because she is so good-natured. She has had some really bad celebrities to work with--in terms of their dancing ability. I started watching the auditions for So You Think You Can Dance last night. Already some really talented dancers--wow!

Chicks arrived this morning. They are in a 60 square foot space under warm lights up in the big barn. They are really cute and look just like peeps. They stumble around, peck at the feed and water and "peep-peep."

Does it help you to count calories, Joan? Are you taking a week off entirely, or just a week of weights and continuing to do cardio?

Going to a big potluck picnic on Monday. Any Memorial Day plans for all of you? Are you off to the lake, Linny?

Hi to Josie!
