Guten Morgen, fellow Peeps! I've got the first pot of coffee started for us this morning!!

I just did Body Fusion and the section of Stretch Max that uses no equipment. I'm REALLY lacking on ab work this week (just one segment) so I might try to squeeze in a section of Core Max this afternoon. If not, I'll do that tomorrow morning for my workout because I'm taking tomorrow off to rest up for Circuit Monday!!

Dani--That's so funny you have the same fish phobia that I do!! LOL!!! OK, I would have had to be SEVERELY drugged to fly on that plane you described...SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!

We might be heading to IKEA today to take a look at entertainment centers for the new TV. (May the force be with me--IKEA on a Saturday--after Christmas--is never pretty.) If DH decides to put that off, Houdini and I might putter at Whole Foods (we never made it yesterday.)

BBL!
:) Wendy

Good morning Peeps! Last night I watched the movie “Mamma Mia” for the first time. I just have to say that my standard in movies is not very high and I really liked it. It was fun (but kind of silly), the music was great, the colors were bright and cheerful, and COLIN FIRTH was in it. I was drooling big time. I don’t know how many times I have watched the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice with him as Mr. Darcy. Yum! Also, I love him in Bridget Jones’ Diary and Love Actually. I could watch him all day long. Anyway, back to my point. The movie was good and I really like Abba songs so I had a grand old time with my SILs watching it. Also, Pierce Brosnan really sings badly but he was a good sport about it. If you want a fun movie, I’d recommend it.

I also did a little shopping on the web with some gift cards that I received. I purchased LaVanilla Vanilla Coconut perfume and body butter and Philosophy Amazing Grace perfume from Sephora last night. I have had the Philosophy stuff before but I haven’t tried LaVanilla before. I have smelled it at the Sephora store and it smells good, but not overly coconutty.

Today is a big family Christmas celebration at DH’s parent’s house. I am so not crafty and last night I was put to the task of making candle holders out of rice krispy treat mix. My candles kept falling over and I was quickly relieved from duty. What a mess!!

Wendy – you are doing so good at keeping up with your workouts. Good luck at Ikea today if you end up going. That store is crazy on weekends, let alone the weekend after Christmas.

Hi to the rest of the peeps that stop by today.

Good morning Wendy and Karin. I'll clink coffee mugs with you! I'm almost finished and that means it's time to WO. I've got the total body sculpt premix from LIC on tap.

Wendy, I'm cringing at the thought of IKEA today. That place is crowded on a normal day! I like the idea of going to Whole Foods. We don't have one here. What's it like? Is it like Trader Joe's?

Karin, I agree that Mama Mia is a fun movie. It's certainly a chick flick. DH and I say it at the movies only because Dark Knight was sold out. He HATED it! I loved the music. Yea, Pierce's singing is rather lame. I bough the DVD for my daughters so we will be singing along with the karaoke section!!
How the heck do you make candleholders out of rice crispy stuff? Sounds like a sticky mess? I can't picture it.

HiYa Peeps!

I have just put on the coffee, so will clink imaginary mugs with all y'all! although I assume you are probably done by now and by the sounds of you morning workouters, already done with your w.o. as well!

Wendy: I SO miss my IKEA! when I was in Washington, it was still a 2 hour drive, but we made it a few times a year! and when I was in Dallas, heading towards Frisco, I saw one off the Dallas Tollway and had I had a bigger suitcase and more time, I would surely have stopped! I can only imagine how busy it might be today though! Get thee there early!

Karin: I am also wondering how you make candleholders with RK treats as well??? did you work with them when the stuff was hot and still cooling to shape them into something? you will have to share pic's because I'm having all kinds of mental images of something rather... um... oh heck... just plane strange  I must say that I haven't seen the movie version of Mama Mia! but I did go see the stage version here in Vegas and surprisingly I really enjoyed it! I do have to also agree that DH would NOT have approved, nor would he be caught DEAD watching even 2 minutes of the production... The friend I went with to the production took her DH to see the movie and they have seen it 5 times and plan on trying to get to the production here (they live from CA but business travels bring them around occasionally) before it closes! I was surprised about how many ABBA songs I actually remembered... Never being able to listen to the radio much for secular music (I was strictly brought up Nazarene, so movies, dancing, and secular music was strictly forbidden) I snuck it in with my father, who was such a rebel! LOL! probably just to spite my mother! I will also have to check out the Sephoria and Philosophy stuff! they sound yummy! (yes, I realize they are not edible :)) but Vanilla is my all-time favorite scent, closely followed by cinnamon and pear!

Phyllis: How was your movie? hope you and DH had a lovely evening, just the two of you!

Ellie: Hope you and family made it to the shore... enjoy some fun time and relax!

Tonite is DH's b-day dinner and I am trying to plan out my day accordingly (to maximize the hunger factor at just the right time!) dinner isn't until 8pm, so will try not to eat too early, or too late!

Will BBL to catch up with the peeps that check in later! :)

Hi Dani, actually DH and I are going tonight. It's a theater show and I''m truly excited! Thanks for remembering!

That's tough with the dinner timing thing. I have a habit of snacking around 4ish and very often that ruins my meal! Where are you going?

re RK treat candle holders - I have no idea how to make them. Mine looked like cr@p and I was finally told I didn't have to try to make one. I was just trying to keep the peace and help out MIL. I think that she appreciated the effort but not the final product . I am so not crafty at all and I will try to snap a picture of these holders before they disappear.

Hi Phyllis: we are going to the Venetian Casino to Emeril's Delmonico's Restaurant! it's just about the best melt-in-your-mouth steaks we have ever had, and their sides are about the best in the business! We have been there several times before, try other places in town, but always end up back there! We only go a few times a year for special occassions because they are fairly pricey, but thoroughly enjoy every bite! I, too, have a difficult time NOT snacking my way through the evening when eating that late, so it will have to watch that today! I WANNA EAT STEAK!!! and potatos, and bread, and beans, and dessert! lol!

Sorry, I got the date mixed up :) A theater show is even better! I have been to a few musicals, but I do have to admit that I prefer non-musical productions... Have fun and we look forward to a full review!

PEEPSICLES!!!!!!

We got to the beach house at 10:30 am and the heating mas just got the heater fixed. I drove the kids around in the car for 2 hours and my niece (14) so we stopped and got something to eat. IT was still freezing in here so I put the hot packs in the microwave and broke open the hand warmers and ALL of us hugged up on the couch under multiple blankets!!!!! It's supposed to be 65 degrees here tomorrow, but it was 48 (in the house) when we got here. WE ARE SO LUCKY that the pipes didn't burst!!!! Thank you God!!

Now I need some serious rest. Jerry and DW are stopping over later, glad the heat is back on because I don't know how comfortable they would be under the blankets with me and DH and 3 kids!!!

FYI- my DH always teases me about travelling with extra blankets, full body warmers, foot warmers, flashlights, XANAX, etc. I guess he'll be getting me a great "after the weekend" gift!!!!

As soon as I defrost I'll be back for more personals.
Dani- I can't list my phobias. I have to list things that I am NOT afraid of!!! But a pontoon boat'aircraft isn't anywhere in my future!!!

see you soon
ellie

Happy Saturday everyone! I had my tea this morning (not a coffee drinker) and then attempted to make the brownies for tomorrow. And they turned out just fine! So apparently my problem lies in making snickerdoodles :p After the brownies, I made my yummy pumpkin bread. The recipe makes 3 loaves, so I've got a loaf to take to DH's dad's tonight, to DH's mom's tomorrow, and then we'll have a loaf to eat here. I don't healthy up this recipe as it changes the weight and texture of the bread. And I don't make it too often, so it is a real treat to have...so moist and delicious!

Dani, have a great time today and enjoy your meal out with DH!

Karin, are you feeling better today? It sounds like it!

Jerry, I am so completely on board to start the circuit rotation this Monday! I was going to wait until after my mom was gone, but she sleeps in DD's room and I really feel I need to start ASAP, especially after sampling everything I've been making. I know I haven't been eating THAT badly, but I certainly feel like it.

I've got two more Christmas get-togethers, tonight and tomorrow. I'm sure I'll eat plenty at both, but honestly...how often do these things happen? I truly enjoy them and it's not like we have a holiday 'season' of parties like so many others do.

But I tell ya, I'm ready to be on track as of Monday!

Ok, I shouldn't be a coffee drinker either, as the cup I had this morning is starting to kick in and I have shakey fingers as I type this! after this weekend it is a distant memory anyway, as my coffee is really just dark heavy cream and sugar! and the only other thing I have had to eat is half a cheese roll from dinner last night (crab chowder!) I am apparently giving this weekend one last hurrah for all my favorite eats! Anyway, I am starving, but trying not to overdo it so I can eat tonite... it's a very fine line!

I have been feverishly loading (and subsequently saving as PDF files) all my menus from Nutrition Manager (my month ends on 12/31), because I have access to free meal planners (fitday.com) and am a WW member as well (just not an active one ~ although they take my money every month just the same~) But with all my medical issues this past week, I will be hitting that hard again come monday...

Ellie: so sorry about the icicles dripping off your nose! I was ROFLMAO (in a good way ) about the blankets and can just see you and 3 kids all snuggled beneath... with little puffs of breath floating out! I'm sure Jerry & DW will be thankful your heating issues are resolved, too! HA! I bet you make at least one of those blankets an electric one (if you haven't already!) at least those don't take body heat to generate warmth!

Jill: YEAH!!! so glad the baking today went much better than last night! What a relief! You are making me crave some Banana Bread my mom used to make! have a wonderful time at your two last seasonal gatherings! Monday will be here soon enough! Then Jerry will be cracking the whip!

Karin: I'm sure you have other talents than RK candle holder forming! we all donate and contribute in different ways... at least you tried! That's about all they can ask :)

So, I just have to share: as a gag gift (Ellie, you should appreciate this) for DH's 50th Over The Hill birthday, I bought him a blowup walker :D and it has a squeeky horn, and the sayings/signs all over it, such as: ALERT ALERT ALERT creaky joint zone, SENILITY AHEAD, Toxic Fumes From Rear, Memory Detour (this way), DANGER SAGGING BODY PARTS, CAUTION: HIGH PANTS AREA, and finally:

My Name is: _______________ IF FOUND WANDERING PLEASE RETURN ME TO THE OVER THE HILL REST HOME FOR THE AGED, 100 YEAR OLD STREET, GEEZERVILLE!

He thought it was pretty funny!

OK, so after I typed this morning that I was going to IKEA or Whole Foods, neither one happened. A line of thunderstorms rolled in and then we had a tornado watch for awhile. But the time the storm had passed, DH was up and wanted to do something with all of us and he didn't want to go to Whole Foods...So we went to the mall near our house and bought three Yankee candles (big big big sale on fall/winter scents), lunch at Panera (Houdini and I split a pumpkin muffin, it was so good!), and came home. Houdini is now down for a nap, and I need to do Clean Max as soon as I'm done typing here!!!

Dani--I LOVE the gag gift you got for DH!! Hilarious! I'm so envious that you are going to Emeril's, too...Have you eaten at Bobby Flay's Mesa? Or any other famous chef restaurants in Las Vegas???? The Food Network Junkie in me has to know!!!

Karin--OK, what a strange craft to make!!! I'm horrid at crafts--really really bad--so I probably would have totally freaked out if someone put me in charge of something crafty!!! LOL!

Ellie--Oh no! It's a good thing you are PREPARED for emergencies!!! Wishing you some warm heat NOW. :)

Jill--Glad the brownies turned out well today!

:) Wendy

Hiya Peeps:

I am happy to report I survived the CCPP+challenge workout today. I'm glad I did it on my elliptical cuz I think my hips would be killing me if I used my treadmill.

My house smells of spaghetti sauce which has been cooking on the stove since this morning. My mom's homemade spaghetti is to die for and I have never tried it on my own until today:confused: She never measures anything so it wasn't easy trying to get this recipe down on paper. She'll say throw in a handfull of this or that and I'm like how many tablespoons is that! In the morning, I make the meatballs and brown them along with some hot italian sausage, throw them in the sauce and cook most of the day. I'm having my parents over for dinner so I hope it turns out OK.

Wendy~ Thank you for the coffee;) Did you go to IKEA? They have a big store right across from the Mall of America but I haven't made it there yet. It looks like they have lots cool stuff.

Dani~ Happy Birthday to DH! Have a wonderful time tonight at dinner. I'm a big steak lover too. LOL at the gift you got him:D Do you live fairly close to all the casinos? I haven't been there in years but the last time we stayed at the RIO.

Karin~ How has your traveling been going? LOL on the candlestick holders. At least you tried! I would have been too busy eating them:eek: I have Mamma Mia on my Netflix list and hope to get it soon. I just saw "Burn After Reading" which was a bit strange.

Phyllis~ Enjoy your show tonight. Maybe you can give us a review tomorrow.

Ellie~ Are you finally thawing out? Good for you for having your survival gear. I just throw a blanket in the car....not very smart for someone in Minnesota:confused: Have fun and say hi to Jerry & his DW.

Jill~ Your brownies and bread sound yummy! I need to steer clear of baked goods for awhile as I have stuffed way more goodies in my mouth than I had the right too:eek: Oh well, the new year is just around the corner.

Enjoy your Saturday Peeps!

JJ

Wendy~ DUH! I didn't read your last post before I entered mine so now I can see you did not make it to IKEA:eek: I need to learn to type faster;)

JJ

Well, Wendy... we have been to Emeril's seafood place at MGM (for lunch) but we weren't thrilled with it... I'm not so sure that's the kind of place you eat lunch.. haven't been back for dinner.

Yes, we have been to BF's Mesa Grill... I was NOT impressed with this one... although I have to admit that I am not a fan of his anyway... DH had rabbit and apparently it was overcooked... I think I had chicken and didn't like much on the menu anyway... I'm more a meat and potatos kind of girl apparently! :)

we have been to a few others, such as:

N9ne Steakhouse @ The Palms (VERY yummy as well and had very cool s'mores you make yourself for dessert! oh so chic!)

T-Bones chop house at Red Rock Resort (right around the corner from us) and the food was OK, but they had some pretzel bread sticks to DIE for!

LBS burger joint (also at Red Rock) was overpriced but ok for a burger...

Tides - oyster bar... (also RR ~ are you seeing a pattern here?) DH loved it, and I had clam chowder that was wonderful!

Salt Lick (you guessed it! RR, too) and the first time we went there it was SO yummy... second and third times left a lot to be desired for service AND the food! we haven't been there in awhile...

but besides Delmonico's, our MOST favorite place to eat is a burger joint called "StripBurger" just across strip from the Wynn resort in the Fashion Show Mall... It's outside and either has misters in the summer or ceiling heaters in the winter... they have the BEST burgers in town, so far, and the most awesome fresh cut fries with cheese sauce are to die for! Ok, so we don't go every weekend, but we will go out of our way to partake a few times during the summer months and people watch on the Blvd!

Hi JJ! Glad you popped in on the Peeps today! Actually we live a ways off the strip and avoid it most of the time if at all possible... we do go down a few times and walk through some of the new casinos and such, but not as a general rule... most locals are the same way... we were thinking we would spend a lot of time down there when we first moved here 2 years ago, but haven't... mostly when we have company, but my mother and her husband don't care anything about it so we don't have to entertain them there!

When I first came down here, I stayed at the Rio for 3 weeks! It was fun at first, but then it was a real drag when you aren't there for fun and all by yourself... DH came down for the weekend of my birthday and a few weeks later we moved! Life has not slowed down much since!

I am happy to hear you did the CCPP! I haven't really been able to get into those, but do admire the thoughts and dedication behind it! I listened to an Itread workout today too... I guess I'm must more into peace and quiet, or at least music I pick do my TM workouts too... Enjoy your spaghetti dinner! :) sounds YUMMY!
