No Sweets week of June 10

Wow I can not believe it's already the 10th!! I've eaten clean so far today and have no plans to go astray, but ya never know LOL!! I did B&Gs standing leg work followed by SP&J hi/lo and abs. :eek: :eek: what a workout!! I also did pullups this afternoon.

Rose are ya still recovering from the concert?

BTW, I have no wt changes to report, but have noticed a minor difference in my body. You know the "Thutt" area- where the thigh and butt meet? Well right below that I have this lump of fat for lack of better words. I noticed today while lying on the couch it is smaller. It's still there but smaller!! Working legs twice a week must be paying off!!

Hey there! Well I haven't exercised since Wednesday because I'm sick (sore throat, headache, nasal congestion, etc.) Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow so I can exercise.

The concert was good, but no Richie Sambora (he's on rehab). Bon Jovi looks great and he's a great performer. My only complaint was that the band played tons of new songs nobody has heard before (the new album is not even for sale yet) so that was a little bit disappointing. He opened with Livin' on a Prayer and closed with Wanted Dead or Alive, which was good, but I wanted to hear more songs that I already know. However, I got great pictures so I'm glad about that.

Ugh I feel so sick... Rest day number 5. I'm sick and I had a really bad day in general. I don't know what to say about my diet because I just haven't been eating like I normally do. The lack of activity is starting to make me depressed. Does that happen to you when you're sick?

Oh well. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping tomorrow is a better day for me.

How are you ladies doing?
 
Rose, sorry you have been sick :( I hope you are better soon!! Just rest and don't worry about working out. You'll be fine when you start back.

I'm doing good. Today was upper body. I am stuck on my bench. As a matter of fact I did less reps/set x( So I had to do more sets. I did incline db curls instead of concentration :eek: :eek: Talk about setting your biceps on fire!!

Bench 70# 1x4, 2x6, 1x5, 1x4
DB Row 42.5 (increase by 1.25#) 3x8
MP 55# (increase 5#) 2x5, 2x4, 1x3
Skull Crushers 16.25 (increase 1.25#) 2x5, 3x4
Incline DB Curls 16.25# 3x8

Rose, I hope you are better today!!

I didn't sleep hardly at all last night x( I did muster up the strength to do IMAX2 intervals 1-7 and LL abs. I feel better!! I just hope to sleep tonight. I really think doing heavier wts is paying off esp upper body. Seem to be seeing more muscle-yippee. I've been eating good. Had a big salad for dinner :9 I did have 1 piece of peanut butter fudge today- it was a small piece.

Peanut butter fudge yuuuuuum!

I feel better today, but still tired. The doctor told me I couldn't workout if I felt tired so here I am Day #6 of inactivity. I'm going to bed early tonight so I can get more hours of sleep. Maybe that will help increase my energy levels.

What's up with us not getting enough sleep? I don't know. It's been a couple of weeks now for me so I made an appointment with my doctor for this Saturday and I'll see what's going on.
 
Rose, I am glad you are feeling better.

I have 2 more days left. My internet has been acting up, so that is why I have failed to check in.

As we are ending the school year, there are so many parties and so much icecream and other treats. I have been bad. I have had a lot of fruit along with the junk....is that a positive?

My puppy comes home on Sunday. I will definitely give you all an update. If I can figure out how to attach a picture one day I will.
 
Hey Affirm! Good to hear from you. Two more days? That's nothing! I hope you enjoy your long vacation. I'm glad the puppy's coming too. I don't think it's that difficult to attach a picture. I've never done it, but you can ask Catherine or anybody here.

Well unfortunately I took 7 days of rest, but I did a weigh-in today and I didn't gain a pound because I was careful with my diet. I'm starting back today with GS:BSB, but I'm not going as heavy as usual, I'm also doing a short cardio, and abs. We'll see how I do.

Catherine, I hope you're okay. When is the Road Trip again? I feel that the day is getting closer and closer. I hope I can go to the next one.
 
Hey Gang!! Doing ok. Dealing with sick relatives and took an unscheduled rest day yesterday. Did do 15(in sets of 5,4,3,3) chinups. Gotta keep doing those- they're like pushups in that if you don't do em you lose it.

Rose, I think you are smart to start back easy.
Affirm, glad to hear from ya. I use picture trail and it's pretty self explainatory on getting pics loaded.

I'm back. Eating has been good. Unless you want to count the two andes mints I just had LOL!!
I no longer consider myself a lower body weenie :p Followed set up of S&H except used my own tempo:

Squats: 60# 3x8
Lunges: 55# 2x8 (not sure why Cathe only does 2 sets of lunges)
RDLs: 65# 3x8
Calf raises: 25# 2x25

My upper body got a bit of a workout lifting that BB over my head LOL!!!

I also did 12 chinups total. No repeat of my set of 6. Almost got it last night-did 5 1/2 on 1st set. I do feel stronger though. I did abs from S&H C&T. I've done abs three times this week- woo hoo!!!

My plan is to do heavy upper body once a week, light- med wt upper body once a week, heavy legs once a week, light legs once a week and three cardios. Oh and abs thrown in there.

I am off to my last day of work for this school year!!! I just wanted to check in this morning. I was so sick last night. Some colleagues had taken me out to for lunch and I had salad, pasta and dessert and I was so stuffed. I know I ate just way too much. I had some watermelon for dinner and I woke up in the middle of the night so sick. My stomach was hurting. I am afraid to eat anything this morning. Maybe I will grab some ginger ale and crackers.

I'm sorry to report that my attempt to exercise yesterday was a disaster. I could only do the first 18 mins of C&W step. I had to stop because I was dizzy and exhausted. I don't know if it was due to the heat and humidity, because I had pretty much a week off any kind of exercise because I was sick, or maybe because I haven't been able to sleep well. Maybe it was a combination of all those factors. Anyway I'm not going to try that today. I think I'm going to do some yoga instead and then I'll try the other workout tomorrow. Since I'm going to see my doctor tomorrow because I'm not sleeping well I think it's also a good idea to ask her for some blood tests too to make sure everything is okay.

Rose, that happened to me not to long ago. Started working out and about 20 mins in just couldn't do it- nausea, dizzy,... For me I think it was a combo of heat and my body needing a break. For you I am sure it's several things too. I hope your doctors appointment goes well. And I agree, I'd have him/her check some blood work. Just take it easy, you'll get back into the swing of things ;)

Affirm, I hope your day has gotten better from what you described this morning!! Puppy in two days !!!! I am so excited for you- it's like having a baby.

Ladies, my body is so weird! Today I went to yoga and I was extremely flexible and stable. I even did two poses I've never been able to do without modifications: crow pose and camel pose (this one with my elbows on the floor). Now whaaaaaat is that?! I've been practicing yoga for about 10 years and I never could do those. I wish I knew what happened, but I don't. Hopefully I have reached new levels of flexibility after all these years and I can do those poses again the next time. I'm going to bed early today and when I come back from the doctor I will try to do some cardio (light cardio; maybe C&W again) with some weights and abs, but going lighter on the weights. We'll see.

Affirm, I agree with Catherine, having a new puppy is awesome!

My stomach feels better, but the diarrhea is not completely gone yet. I am glad the summer is here.

Everyone keeps telling me that a new puppy is just like having a new baby. Do You think he'll like watching me do my Cathe workouts this summer?

Happy Saturday ladies! Today I took an unexpected rest day. It's so freaking hot and humid I can't even feel the A/C. I went to the doctor today and she said I have chronic insomnia. My doctor, oh my gosh, she's the best in the whole world. She prescribed Ambien, but only 15 tablets instead of 30 because I'm supposed to take it as a last resort. She believes in natural supplements and she gave me a list of things to get: Melatonin, Valerian, etc. She specifically recommended either 5mg of Melatonin or a mixture of Hops, Valerian, and Passionflower. I bought the last one (it's called Revitalizing Sleep Formula from Enzymatic Therapy and I got it at the health food store). She told me to try the natural supplement every night and Ambien only when I needed it a couple of times a week or a month. I was given permission to cut it in half if I felt like it. She saw me last year when I had full blown Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Pre-Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder along with Insomnia. I was also very overweight back then. Today she said that although she sees some traces of GAD I don't need medication for it. She told me to keep exercising 5-6 days a week (that's my normal routine anyway...cardio, weights, and yoga). She even said and I just have to quote her because I was shocked: "If you keep exercising 5-6 days a week you'll never have to visit a psychiatrist", since exercise is a drug free way to control anxiety and depression. So that was my visit to the doc, I have to see her in six months because she gave me refills until then. I felt so good when I got out of her office! :)

So I'll get back on track tomorrow and I'm going to bed early today. Hopefully the natural supplement works fine.

Catherine - I haven't done step blast in a while. That one is always a lot of fun.

Affirm - I'm so excited for you! Puppies are adorable. :) Yikes don't worry about your g/i problems. They'll soon be gone. A 0% fat, ultra high carb diet always works for me when that happens.

ETA - We start a new week tomorrow. I hope we can start anew again. Take care.
