No sweets - last week of May

Helloooo ladies. Yep, in a couple of days May will be over. I will do a weigh-in and bf % reading in a week and hopefully I'll report positive changes in those areas.

Today I had major (and I mean major DOMS). I was feeling muscles I forgot existed thanks to GS (like my inner thighs) and I went to the mall (walked non-stop for about 3 hours) and bought a cute top for the concert (halter and sleeveless; yes I'm insane). Oh! I forgot. I washed and waxed my car before I went to the mall and I was sweating a lot so when I got here I definitely was not in the mood to exercise even more. So I skipped the workout I had scheduled. Let's just say that today I had a *very* active rest day. My diet, oh that darn diet! I've been struggling. It's very hot and I don't want to get in the kitchen so I'm eating out. It's not the quality of the food because I try to eat clean even when I eat out, but it's the portions. I'm eating more calories than what I normally eat and I know I can exercise for hours and hours, but diet is more important. So I'm struggling with portions and calorie intake. Hopefully things go back to normal in a couple of days. Take care ladies.
 
Yes, Rose--you definitely had an active rest day. Waxing a car must burn a lot of calories. Way to go on purchaasing a halter top. I bet you will look great. Sometimes we have to be brave and adventure out of our comfort zone. Last summer, I wore a few halter tops and I got some compliments, but it is just not something that I wear often. Enjoy the concert!

I started my morning with Drill Max. I usually do the cardio premix, but wanted to attempt the whole thing. Couldn't do it. I stopped at 47 minutes. I guess that is better than the "no exercise" that seem to be getting lately. Little did I know that I have quickly gained 3 pounds since March. YIKES with this busy schedule of mine. I can tell in my mid section. I was down to 141 (end of Jan. - March) and the last few days I have weighed 144. I have had little exercise for the last 2 months. Getting in 2 or 3 workouts some weeks and none many weeks. I DON"T LIKE THIS!! I worked so hard in January - March. I know 3 pounds is not a lot of weight, but it is usually my tummy that doesn't look good during the weight gain. It is not that TTOM, that was last week---so these are real pounds. NO SWEET CHALLENGE IS ON SERIOUSLY AGAIN! I guess this is what it has taken for me to KICK SOME BUTT WITH CATHE AGAIN!
 
Well, Rose you are not alone with your eating. I've been off all weekend. I'm giving myself that and will get back on track!!
Waxing your car with DOMS LOL!! I guess that's one way to work through it!!

I'll be doing upper body today and maybe Kickbox.

Supposed to go to a cookout at In-Laws but don't want to go x( Even DH doesn't want to. But we probably will.

Affirm, we must have been posting at the same time. WOW DM this early? I am impressed that you did 47 minutes of it. It's a tough workout!! I would have to have much coffee to get through that one this early.

I really need to clean up my act too. I have not been doing so well with getting in my veggies. The farmers market is now open so that may help.

Done with upper body. I made several improvements- mostly increasing the number of reps per set. Will increase the wt on bench next time.
Bench 65# 3x8 (last week it was 2x8 and 1x7)
DB row 40# 3x8 same
MP 50# 1x8,1x7 and 1x6 (last time could only do reps of 6)
Skull crushers 17.5 2x2 15# 3x8
Conc Curls 22.5# 1x7 and 3x6
Pec Flies 18.75# 1x8 and 17.5# 2x8
Rear Flies 17.5 1x8 and 18.75 2x8

I had a duh moment when doing skull crushers. I thought I'd been doing 17.5 pounds and wondered why I couldn't do more than 2 reps. Then I looked back and saw that I had been doing 15# and laughed. I had to count those 2 sets of 2 reps at the higher wt though ;)

LOL Catherine! Waxing definitely counts as cardio especially the day before you did GS: Legs! Well if they put it as an exercise in Karate Kid...:7 That brings back memories.

Affirm, when I was super busy these past few weeks I hit a plateau because I wasn't exercising as usual and my diet was plain awful. Don't worry, you'll have time to get back on track in a couple of weeks. The other things in your life are more important now. Congrats on Drill Max. I'm scared to try that one as is. I only do the cardio premix once a week or once every two weeks.

I have to confess I've never owned or worn a halter top before. I went to the mall with my mom and my sister in law and I tried out tons of tops. I was set with a cute sleeveless red top and they both said: "what you're not getting that halter? that's the one you should get." My mom added: "you have red tops that look like that one." So they convinced me and I got the halter. I've been working hard so I guess I have to change my look a bit.

I guess we're all struggling with our diet. Starting in June we have to take the challenge seriously so we can be proud of ourselves when we see our relatives and friends for the Holidays in July.
 
I've been thinking... maybe I should check out P90X. I don't think I'm ready for it yet, but maybe by the fall I will be ready.

I am almost 41 years old and I wear halter tops. LOL, maybe I shouldn't, but I do. I don't know what age you are "supposed" to not wear a halter. You know "What Not To Wear" says no mini skirts after 35, but I don't know about halters :D

omg Catherine! I guessed your age to be about 5-6 years older than I am. I'm 28 y-o(29 this October) and I'm not kidding. That was my guess! You look gooooooood woman. My thing with halter tops is that I need more support in the chest area (but I'm going back to the mall to get either a strapless or convertible bra) and I'm not too crazy about my arms.

Well I'm off to do LIC cardio only plus abs and GS: C&T. I couldn't find the dynabands yesterday but I went to fwonline.com and bought 3 6ft bands: a green one (medium resistance, I will use that for upper body), a purple one (heavy resistance, I will use that for my legs), and a silver one (extra heavy, will use that for stretching). Great deal too (about $17 total with all the additional charges).
 
There are 3 of us in this group and we represent each club....20's club, 30's club and the 40's club. I will be 39 in 3 months. I don't wear a lot of halter tops, but I do love cute sleeveless tops---- so I know I need to do some good upper body weight training.
 
You're both pretty close to the age of my oldest sister so you could be my sisters too!

Today, whoa mamma! Major DOMS! I woke up early and did yoga before going to work and that is definitely my workout for today. My body was asking for a flexibility routine. My diet has been good (surprisingly), but it's so hot and humid and my problem is that I hate to cook when the temperature and humidity are high. I still don't know if I will eat out or if I will cook something. I know I have to watch my portions because I've been eating way too much lately.

Today was cardio blast of Body Max 3. No junk food so far. It is very hot here too. When I went grocery shopping on Sunday evening, the store was all out of watermelon. I was so disappointed.
 
Hey Ladies!! Still eating clean, but not enough veggies. I think I am gonna try juice plus. It's a juice/supplement that supplies all the veggies/fruit you need in a day. Maybe if I can drink it, I'll get it in. I know it's not the same, but it's better than what I am getting now.

I did S&H legs and chinups tonight. Was tired before I worked out, but was glad I did. But man someone tell me why I look like I am dying during this and Cathe and crew are all smiles and look so lovely??? Seriously this workout kills me- I am huffing and puffing, taking extra rests,...

Hello gorgeous ladies. Yesterday was my rest day. Today I'm doing a short cardio with GS: BSB and some abs.

Today I checked out my progress so far. Jan 1st weight: 144.6lbs, today (May 31st) weight: 133.8lbs. I can't start jumping up and down yet because my doctor told me 125 and it's getting harder and harder to reach that goal weight, but I will try my hardest to get there and then try my hardest to maintain my weight loss.

Catherine, for me is the opposite. Leg workouts are a breeze and upper body workouts leave me huffing and puffing. Btw, I saw the P90X infomercial the other day and it scared me to death. I'll probably get it in a couple of months though, because I like the fact that the workouts are super hard and short which is perfect when I go back to school again and have to juggle grad school and work.

Affirm I know you're busy so I hope you're alright. Hang in there, summer vacation is right around the corner.

Yes, I consider 1 hour short. I'm used to doing 80 min or longer workouts. It all started when Cathe kept coming with longer workouts and I just didn't want to modify. She's got me spoiled like that, but after seeing that infomercial I was impressed with the exercises that they showed. It's not a cheap set though so I'm going to start saving some money as soon as I can. If I could look half as good as those before and afters I saw I'll be happy. :)
 
Hi Ladies. Well, the last day of May wasn't that great for eating. I had to work late due to a program at school on Wed., so I didn't exercise today either. The rest of this week has been good though.
