Melting - Tues

Morning melters. Deb and Shelley must be sleeping in. I'm just starting this for now. I'll try to get back later at work. Have a good morning.

Yup, I was sleeping in! I decided that since the weather is so nice, it would be shame to run on my treadmill and I didn't want to run outside at 4:45, so I'll run later in the lovely day:)

Yesterday was super-busy and so wonderful. I could get used to this.

I'll try to check back later!

Have fun with your run Shelley. We are supposed to have T-storms off and on all day here. That's OK, since I got a lot of stuff planted yesterday. I had to visit the medicine chest for some advil in the middle of the night though. My back didn't appreciate all the gardening.

I'm expecting a really slow day today. Maybe I can sneak out of work a little early. We have a bible school meeting at church this evening and I'd like to try to get a workout done, since I skipped a couple days yesterday. It really is time for a leg workout, but I've been putting it off and putting it off.

Good Morning Robin, Shelly and all that follow:

I did not get up today to workout, I had a awful night's sleep, and at 2:15 am, turned the "workout" alarm off so I could get some sleep. It was pretty quiet around here yesterday. I assume everyone was having a nice holiday/day off.

Robin:
Thanks for starting us off today. ;-) . I hope you are able to sneak out early, that sounds like fun. Ticks? omg! those can be dangerous, (you would know!) All I can think of is Lyme disease. I hope our bunnies leave soon! If not, I am trying to talk DH into putting them in the "Have a Heart" trap we have and taking them to the woods behind his office. I am afraid they are feeling too much "at home" in our yard. I don;t want 3 full grown rabbits back there permanently! It would probably end up being 6 or 8 etc

Shelly:
Thanks for starting us out yesterday! Did you have a lot of wind yesterday? I couldn't keep the pots of plants I was working with still!

Shannon:
Did you get to the watercoloring yesterday? How was that walk?

Leanne:
Cudos to you for doing the whole MM workout at one time! Let us know about jury duty. Maybe they will excuse you right away. Do they have the call in system in Caifornia, where you call in the night before and they give you a number? If you have a high number, you usually don;t have to report in.

Tneah:
How was Mitch's shopping trip? Did he buy a lot of shirts for DF? ewwww..rats! It sounds like Wild Kingdom around here..between the bats, rabbits and rats! Our bunnies are the typical brown ones. There are at least 3 of them, as they came out of their nest when I was watering the garden. I did not turn the sprinkler on, felt awful that they would have this cold water pounding down on their nest so I watered each flower separately with the hose. Then it poured during the night..x( . You should talk to the DR about the meds, I thought you were taking them to feel more energized? Have you done the Upper Body workout from the new P90X+ ?

Kara:
((Hugs)) to you..saying goodbye to Colin must have been hard.

Lainie:
Hope you feel better today! Did you get that Pilates workout in?

Have a great day!

Deb

Hello Melters.

Just getting ready for a long day at work. Shipschewana was nice although we didn't do the flea market thing. We went to the Antique Mall, which is truly antiques, and actually seen some of my parents old inventory when they owned a shop in northern MI..

Hoping to do some KPC tonight.

Have a Great Day!!

Hi, Melters!

Well, I'm back at work. It's a sad day. :p Now, get this. I've already gone through my email - I had maybe 20 and that's it. Nothing in my paper in-box on my desk, either. So I left work all caught up, and I'm still caught up. In a way that's a bit worrisome, you know? But at least I don't have one of those jobs where people dread taking a vacation because when they come back the work is so piled up!

Shelley - it sure sounds like you're having a great vacation! Believe me, it's easy to get used to. Where are you going to run today?

Robin - how is your back this morning? Hopefully a good night's sleep helped those muscles to relax. I hope you get to leave early! Oh, and I agree - the ticks have been bad already. Nasty creatures. I use Frontline on my dog, and it works pretty well.

Deb - Yes, ticks!!! True, they carry Lyme, but I've been bitten by a zillion of them, probably, and never caught it. Mom thought she had it once, went to the doctor and he immediately started her on a course of antibiotics to be safe. If you catch it early, it's no problem. But if you wait, or don't know what it is, it is very dangerous.

Jennifer - it sounds like you had a nice trip to Shipschewana.

Tneah - thanks for the email! I'll have to look at the attachments - I can't wait! So far I have one email with two attachments, right?

Good Morning All:)

Deb, that might be a good idea, "gently escorting" peter rabbit and his cohorts to a safe place away from your yard.:) I started the P90X upper body, but literally could not do it since it includes a ton of pullups and uses equipment I just do not have, so it was a waste of time. DH did not go shopping yesterday, the strip was crazy busy because of the weekend traffic, will go next weekend.

Robin, ouch on your back, too much crouching and bending yesterday huh? So glad we do not have fleas or ticks here in Vegas, but have to use the Frontline on Georgie when we go to SD, the flea capital of the world.

Shelley, so happy you had a wonderful weekend, have fun running in the sunshine today!:)

Jennifer, sounds like you had fun, too bad about the flea market though, I love flea markets. We do not have them here, except on huge indoor one, and the vendors just sell knockoff purses and junk like that.

Shannon, I sent you one email with an attachment, and one more email that I had to wrote everything down because I still have not found the other attachments.:-( Crapppers.

I am up early today. DH goes to SD this week to meet with skincare doctors (for our products) and to work a few days...whaaa. I will miss him alot. He will probably stay until Friday.
I am going to try and get into my dentist today and see if they received my permanent crowns, the other one popped off last night and I had to "fixodent" it back on. Let me tell you what, between my teeth and my new sleepy meds, I am a mess aren't I ?:p

OMG! Guess what?? Micheal Jackson bought a house on the block right next to ours! Wanna know whats disturbing about it? Its right in front of an elementary school. Now, I'm not saying anything about all that, but it is slightly disturbing...no? Steve Wynn is building across the street from us, that is actually a good thing, we are hoping it raises the property values in our neighborhood.:) He kinda has that Midas touch...

Ok, enough gossip..I have just cardio today since all my weight workouts are done...yeah!Hi to Leanne, Lainie and Kara.

Tneah - shoot. I just got the one with the attachments. Maybe you can go back to your "sent" box and resend? I sure don't want you to have to retype everything! And I would NOT want MJ to live in the same neighborhood as me! Gross. I'm so sorry.

Hey all,

Was going to get up early to work out before jury duty . . . but decided I needed a bit of rest! I only have time for some quick personals, but (hopefully!!!) I'll be home early today.

Tneah -- What a laugh about MJ buying a house near you! But also how creepy that it's near a school. Ug! Will you be in SD on June 7 for the get-together at the Cheesecake Factory? I hope so!!!

Shannon -- I'm so glad to hear that you didn't have tons of stuff waiting for you when you got back.

Deb -- We have a one day/one trial thing in CA, so if I don't get put on a trial today, then I should be off for another year. Last time I had jury duty, I got put on a 5 1/2 week trial; it was actually really interesting, but I don't want to give up my summer like that again!

Robin -- Hooray! You survived the visit from SIL!

Shelley -- Glad you slept in a bit and can put off your run until later today.

Hope you all have great days!:)

Good morning everyone! I am feeling a bit more human today which is good because I have a lot to accomplish! Thanks for the kind words about leaving Colin. I have talked with him and he is alright, I guess. His roommate is nice. He actually lives in the town just north of us, but spent the first 8 years of his life in Kenya. Colin loves geography, so this was very cool for him! Hopefully, the 5 weeks go by quickly. Anyway, I want to catch up with all of you!

Shannon—Yuck, back at work! Boo! Were you able to avoid all bugs on your walk yesterday? The ticks are out like crazy here as well as every other creature with far too many legs! I hope your transition back to work goes well and your workload stays light for a bit at least.

Robin—Have they flown away yet (SIL)? You are a very gracious host! Your lobsterfest and Thai dinner sound super yummy! Well, not so much the lobster, but the morels are to die for! So how long before you leave for Yellowstone? Excited??????

Shelley—Did you make your SO a chocolate cake? I am really impressed with your “garden”. WOW. I hope you continue to enjoy your vacation! So, did Sophie like Indiana Jones? Was it appropriate for a 10 year old (like anything you weren't expecting)? I was a bit concerned about the PG-13 rating but wanted to take Emma. Sometimes those ratings include some surprising things…Good luck rock picking!

Deb—Have you adjusted to your hair? It must be great to have a person that will tell you the absolute truth like that. So, how long until you pick up Keegan? Are you counting the days? My sinuses are bad here because I live in a big basin where all the crap falls! Then the pollution traps it in! Should have checked out the topography before moving here…

Tneah—Between your cramps and dental problems, you had a rough weekend! Have you recovered? It is odd that your doctor took that tone with you. Is there another one that you can go to? Ooohhh, I love sour gummy worms! Sour skittles, too! It’s great that you and your DH were able to get out and have some fun! I want to see that movie so bad! Are your joints feeling better now that you stopped the bootcamp rotation?

Lainie—What does a Japanese maple look like? It sounds pretty! When do you start light treatments? I sometimes think men are so out-of-touch with their bodies that we simply notice problems much sooner than they do. We also get them taken care of before they become serious as well! My DH used to call me a hypochondriac until he became ill and ended up in the ER with severe dehydration. His doctor (for ulcerative colitis) still has me come to the appointments because I listen! Anyway, don’t worry, you are smart to stay on top of things!

Jennifer—How was your day away? The food sounded yummy!

Leanne—Your idea for a book sounds fascinating! Writing can be so draining that I don’t blame you for being hesitant about starting the process again! I am still so impressed that you wrote one. I use my KB workouts as a “hit every body part a second time” workout. For instance, if I do back/chest on Sunday, legs on Monday, and tri/bi/shoulder on Wednesday, then on Friday I will do a KB workout and perhaps add some pull-ups. I don’t really care for total body weights, so I try to keep my splits! I have found that KBs really work my legs, core, and shoulders the most. Besides back, these are the parts I am trying to improve the most. That is why I will add in 3 or 4 sets of wide-grip pull-ups. I am sorry I didn’t reply sooner! Is your DH feeling better? So, you do beading? That sounds really neat! Is it a stress reliever for you?

Alrighty, I have way too much on my to-do list today, so I must get busy! I will check-in later. Have a good morning!

Kara

Leanne--jury duty??? Ugh! Hopefully, you won't be there long!

Shelley--Enjoy your run! :)

Jennifer--Antiques are so much fun! My town has a ton of antique shops and I love browsing through them. Enjoy KPC!

Tneah--Michael Jackson???? Hey, you might have fun "neighbor watching"! Or maybe you don't want to know what goes on in his house..

Must.Go. :)
Kara

Hi again all. I started a post before lunch, but it was soooo boring, I cut it short. I'll try again.

Deb, sorry you had a bad night. It's amazing how much a lack of sleep can set you back. No wonder they use it as a form of torture. Shannon was right. The ticks I'm seeing aren't the ones that carry Lyme disease. They are still creepy though. Deer ticks are the ones that carry the Lyme disease organism, and they are about the size of a sesame seed. You are so tender hearted with the rabbits.

Jennifer, do you learn about antiques from your parents? I know nothing and am too afraid of getting ripped off to go antiquing.

Shannon, sorry your vacation had to come to an end, but at least you didn't come back to a mess. My back feels better this morning. It was just old age muscle ache. I'm going to take off a couple hours early. Yay!

Tneah, I hope your teeth are in. That sounds funny. MJ moving into a house across from a school sounds like a bad joke. Do you have any plans while your DH is away?

Leanne, hope jury duty goes well. Yes, SIL and her family are back home and we lived to tell the tale. Silly me, I told them to come back some weekend soon so we can go to the Finger Lake wineries. My niece will be visiting sometime in the fall, but she is a great help with the baby.

Kara, I'm glad Colin has dried his tears. I'm sure he'll love the summer. We leave early in the morning on Sat to drive to Philly for our flight to Spokane. We'll hook up with my sister and her DH there and head to Yellowstone on Sunday. DH shipped a package to my sister so we wouldn't have to worry about checking a bag. We have to change flights twice and were worried that if our bag got lost, it would never catch up to us. Losing our hiking boots would not be a good thing.

Time to head out. Later.

Hey guys,

Just dropped off DH...:-( oh well, he will be back soon. I plan on writing this week, which means I will be on my computer alot, so on these boards alot-like I am not already. There is a post on the OD by a gal whose hubby just confessed he cheated on her. ;( I am worried about her mental state, there is only so much you can do through these posts, and alot of time you get misunderstood.

Kara, sounds like you are super busy gal. Glad you are feeling better!

Robin, I called my dentist and begged her to let me know when the permanents come in...sheesh. So I am only missing 1 tooth right now.:p I laugh, but its actually very traumatic. But you have to laugh right?
A trip through a winery sounds fabulous, I could use one of those trips about now.You are going to Spokane WA? My dad lives about 30 miles from there.

I did a Spinvervals workout, super tired though. Attacked my jar of almond butter, ended up tossing the rest in the trash, I am on some sort of fatty trip or something, its an ugly beast I am trying to control here!
Talked to the doc about the meds, says to wait a few weeks, it takes time to "work" or whatever. We will see. Maybe I should have left well enough alone.

I am sure I will be back later gators...

Hi guys,

Robin--Your posts are anything BUT boring! I desperately envy your wit and sense of humor! Wow, vacation is almost here. It sounds like a perfect one. I love it out west. We used to live in Utah and I miss it. :)

Tneah--I am sorry your hubby has to be gone this week. I struggle with resisting almond butter as well. That is why I stopped buying it! We took Emma to Dippin' Dots last night and I succumbed to temptation and indulged. AND, get this, not a small, a *&^(*& medium! The worst part is that it wasn't that good. DH and Emma loved it though. :7 Good luck taming that ugly beast! :)

Back to painting...

Kara :)

OK, I'm finally here today. I meant to come back last night and catch up on personals, but it didn't happen. Instead I got caught up writing an emotional blog post about my stepfather (it's at http://lainiefig.blogspot.com if anyone cares to read it). By the time I was done with that it was time to get to bed.

Today I had planned to get up early to do my workout, but it didn't happen. It's more important this time of year to do it early to avoid the heat of the day in my non-air-conditioned house. Still, I brought our giant fan up from the basement and did Tracey Staehle's Circuit Zone while Ewan napped (actually, he never actually slept but he stayed in his room for a while, at least).

Shelley, you sound so cheery today. Hope you enjoy[ed] your outside run. Our day has been a hot mix. We just had a very brief thunderstorm. I kind of miss the massive thunderstorms of Texas, but then again it's nice not to be afraid of tornadoes all summer.

Robin, did you decide on a workout for this evening? May I ask what kind of church you attend. I'm just curious because I've been a member of so many myself. :)

Deb, I had kind of a rough night's sleep, too. In my case I think it was because it was too hot and Brian hasn't put the window a/c unit in our bedroom yet. I think he dreads doing it to our new window, but I'm tired of being hot already and it's only May. Anyway, we both tossed and turned a lot last night. I didn't do the Pilates yesterday, but I did do an ab-focused yoga, so I consider that pretty close.

Hi Jennifer--enjoy that KPC tonight--I love that one!

Shannon, just be glad you're all caught up on work. It probably won't be like that for long. I know it can get boring when there's not enough to do, though.

Tneah, yikes, Michael Jackson for a neighbor.... Good luck with that.
Good luck also being without the DH. Mine is also leaving town today--won't be back until late Thursday night. He'll be in Cleveland and then Chicago. I think he misses living in Europe where he visited clients in places like Geneva and Stockholm. Sigh. I should PM you my phone number some time so we can call and gossip some evening while the boys are away. ;)

Leanne, hope you don't get stuck at jury duty too long. I really love Tracey's Circuit Zone (put a long review of it on my fitness blog the other day, too). It was not on my rotation for today but I did it anyway. What's impressive to me is even though it doesn't have much cardio, I burned 450 calories with it today. Not bad for weight work. I didn't even do all the plyo stuff (like I skipped one of the Leg Bonus Burns where she does more jumping about). I also skipped the one-legged squats because I hate the noise my knees make on that one. Anyway, this is definitely my very favorite Tracey workout so far, so I look forward to getting the new ones coming out soon.

Kara, so glad Colin is doing well! A Japanese Maple is a beautiful tree with red leaves (see http://www.nurserytrees.com/Redleaf_Japanese_Maple_Availability_2006.htm)
I started light treatments last Thursday and I had another one today. Then I have one on Friday. It'll be 2 a week for awhile. I hope this clears up the ugly spots on me!

Oh, by the way, I did not wake up with swollen lymph nodes this morning, so maybe I'm not coming down with anything. It was probably just allergy-related or something.

Lainie, I like your pretty ugly shoes. I'm not sure what they'll look like on, but they sure are purty. I go to an American Baptist church. I like that it is Bible based, but not so in-your-face halleluja to make me uncomfortable.

Tneah, I'm sure your teeth are very frustrating. I hate any kind of dental work.

I decided on PLB. It felt good. Then I went out back and planted some beans and did some more weeding. I'm thinking I better take an advil before bed tonight.

OK, this is sad, but I realized I posted a pic of the wrong pretty ugly shoes. These are actually the ones I got:
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g76/lainiefig/41NbIxZlZFL_SS384_.jpg

Probably actually uglier. But I still like 'em. :p Funny they were so similar I picked the wrong one at first.

Robin, OK, American Baptist--cool. When I moved here that was actually one of the churches a friend recommended I look for. We were Southern Baptist in Houston but I felt I'd changed a lot from that church. I think I did do some google-searching for American Baptists but couldn't find one very nearby. We actually found our current church (Episcopal) just walking by it one Sunday.

Hey all,

Lainie, I am lovin those shoes girl! The are so NOT ugly, I would wear those in a heartbeat! But are they comfy, cause sometimes those ballerina flats can actually murder your feet.x(

Southern Baptist? That conjures up images of people having alot of fun at church, singing and praising loudly!:D

Off to do some cardio because I feel like a big fat oinker today, ever have one of those bloated belly days even though its not that time of the month anymore?Yeah, that would be me right now. My low bodyfat percentage seems like a distant memory to me now...whaaaaa. Well, sorta whaaaa....

Then a hot bath, then think I might lose myself in a book called Water for Elephants, or watch Sex and the City season 6 to get caught back up with the girls! The movie is friday night, DH is taking me on Sunday when he returns...yes, I am forcing him.;)

Hello Melters.

Robin-Buying antiques. There are plenty of books to learn from. The Shipschewana mall is ALL good. Most stores I run in and run faster back out. from my parents, I learned but am more pickier since I'm a Roadshow Junkie.

Lainie-Love both pair of those shoes.

No workouts tonight. Lots going on, prayers appreciated right now.

Have a Great Night.
