Jugglers August 2014

YIPPEE...Happy August!

I am taking vacation at the end of the month and am counting down the days!!

I can't remember where I left off but this is an August thread so I'm start with the 1st. The sisters and I took a 2 mile walk. We were too tired and sore from our Thursday workout. Saturday was a rest day, Sunday an 8 mile run and yesterday an upper body workout mixed in with some rope slams.

It has been very dry here but not too hot. We did have to find off some gnats last night during the workout but we had 3 bunnies in the backyard so that made it nice.

Tricia ~ I hope you get some relief from your back pain soon! I will think of Stephen as I run the fairway on Saturday. I'm looking forward to it. How many times do you get to run on a fairway?

Alisha ~ Is it any cooler by you? I hope you get some relief from the heat and drought.

Let's have a great August!!!

We are having some relief. It was only in the mid-80s today and there was a little sprinkle of rain.

I tried work out by results fitness today, it wasn't too bad. Mostly strength training with a little bit of cardio.

Jane you always have good workouts!

Tricia I hope that your shoulder and body is feeling good today.

Hi ladies!

Since when did we start juggling? lol :p

Jane - Great workouts! So excited for your vacation! Are you going somewhere or just relaxing at home?

Alisha - Glad you are seeing some more normal temps!

I've been in a lot of pain since Monday. I felt pretty good after my dry needling treatment on Thursday through the weekend. I finally got a real person on the phone at my doctor's office today. They had an opening with another doctor and I took it! She sent me for x-rays today. I am hoping she'll call with results tomorrow. She said she'd order an MRI after that. She thinks I'm having issues in my cervical spine and it's not the muscle spasms. We shall see. I'm really just hoping to get a diagnosis and a treatment plan that will work.

No workouts still. Just don't have it in me with all the pain I'm in. My HR and BP were high for me today. She said it could be all the pain I'm in. 91 HR and 92/78 for BP. The diastolic is high. Its usually around 50-60 something.

Anyway, I'm just trying to get through all this until it all goes away.

Have a great night!

I just noticed the juggling title! I need to practice because I'm not the best juggler...come to think of it I'm not the best joggler either! :p

I was suppose to run last night but we had a storm which was fantastic because we haven't had rain in over a week. So we got a good inch plus last night. We ended up doing a kettlebell workout under the carport but I had to do part of it inside because the rain started blowing. Tonight will be a 3-4 mile run.

Tricia ~ I'm happy to hear that you are getting some movement with your pain issue. How horrible that you had to go through so much just to get an x-ray and hopefully an MRI. I hope you get a diagnosis soon so you can get the proper treatment.

We are going to the beach for a week. We have gone the last couple of years. We rent a beach house with a pool and just lay around and read, eat, and swim. I can't wait....mainly to relax but I also let go with my eating and just have whatever I want even if it's not healthy. I'm bringing my kettlebells and running shoes so I will be working out. Last year we took the bells to the beach and did workouts there.

Alisha ~ I'm glad it's cooler and you got some sprinkles. We've only had sprinkles for the last couple of weeks so last night's rain was wonderful. I hope you get lots of rain (not too much) soon.

Jane - Glad you got some rain! I remember your trip last year now! Hope you have a great time and have great weather!

No results from the x-rays. Getting an MRI next. Hoping they call to schedule tomorrow so I can get in ASAP. If this doesn't show anything, then she's going to refer me to an orthopedic specialist. We shall see.

I used to be able to kind of juggle! lol I was never very good though!

Hi Alisha!

TGIF!

I had a HOT 3 mile run last night. It was 95 degrees with a heat index of 98 last night. It was a horrible run but I definitely took it easy.

Tonight is a rest day as I have my golf course run tomorrow morning.

Tricia ~ I'm glad you are getting the MRI but you should have gotten it a long time ago. I'm still sending you healing thoughts and energy.

Hi Alisha ~ I hope all is well.

I have been struggling with a rash. I have figured out a protocol that seems to be making this nasty:eek: jock itch go away. I use Selsun blue, T gel, and Nizorall A.D. to wash in the shower. I'm also using a little bit of Hibiclens which is a wound wash. Then I dry myself off completely, I use benzalkonium chloride, and colloidal silver, and I apply three different antifungal cream's and then I powder myself with a little bit of gold Bond. It's involved but I'm not in as much pain as I was and it is healing. I'm also taking garlic oil, Gymnema Sylvestra, and olive leaf.

I hope to be able to exercise on Monday.

Tricia I don't think I can juggle! I throw the balls up and they just fall down:D

Jane I think you are a very dedicated runner, you couldn't have gotten me to go out for a run in 98°!

Happy Monday!

My golf course run was fun! It was so pretty with big oak trees, palm trees and the greens. I loved running on the fairway...it was like running on a carpet. It was hot and hilly though. I think the temperature was in the low 80's at start time. It was also a very small race...only 42 people but still nice. My sister beat me by 34 seconds. She placed 2nd and I placed 3rd in our age group.

Yesterday was a 8 mile run. Today will be an weight workout.

Alisha ~ I hope your rash is better. It does sound like a long process but if it's working it's probably worth it. I hope you can exercise today.

Running in the heat sucks but I don't have any other choice. Running on a treadmill is worse than running in the heat in my opinion.

Tricia ~ I hope you had a great weekend!

My rash is getting better

I did 30 minutes of low intensity cardio with a 10 minute solution DVD called that blasting Latin dance mix. It was fun.

Well done on all those runs Jane!

Trisha how's it going?

I went to physical therapy today. My doctor says that the two sides of my body are talking to each other again. I wonder what the falling out was about? LOL:D

Catch you girls later

TGIF!!

I can't believe I missed posting for a couple of days.

Friday - Rest day. I am running in a 5K race tomorrow morning.

Alisha ~ I loved what your PT said. I think that happens a lot! :) On Sunday morning before my a long run I got up and my left side was tight...my lower back and hip was hurting. When I was walking down the driveway to start my run, I tripped over a pine cone and turned my right ankle a bit. After that my left side no longer hurt. Were my right side and left side having a fight? In any case, my left side hasn't bothered me all week.

Hi Tricia!

Hope you guys have a great day!

Jane I know what you mean about pinecones, those things are deadly. Around here they fall out of the trees and dang if they're not bigger than my head and very very heavy.

I took a rest day to assimilate what my PT guy did to my body yesterday. However I did help my brother or if you helped me to put together new bookcases for my DVD collection. I posted a picture of her on Facebook.

Tricia I hope you're working out :)

Hi Jane!

Glad you had a good golf course run! Wow! "The student has now become the master!" Darth Vader ;)

I know I should have had the MRI sooner. Better late than never!

Alisha - Sorry about the rash! That does sound like a very involved procedure, but you gotta do what you gotta do! Glad the rash is getting better and your brain is starting to cooperate again!

Not working out yet. Got my MRI results. Herniated disc and arthritis, both causing pinched nerve(s). She sent over a new order to my PT which I will start tomorrow when I go. I need to call the doc back because I forgot to ask her about working out and what kind of arthritis is in my neck.

If the PT doesn't work, then she will recommend surgery. Let's hope the PT works! I'm not a fan of neck surgery! She gave me Rx strength Ibuprofen and Vicodin to help me sleep better.

Had a really tough time last night. Went to a cookout at Stephen's professor's house - the annual Pig Pickin' - had a few glasses of wine and not enough food, then came home and took my pain med and Vicodin because my back and neck were killing me. Woke up at 3 a.m. with severe abdominal pain just under my sternum. It was horrible. Drank a lot of water and suffered through it until 5 a.m. when it subsided, but I kept getting bouts of it every hour until it finally stopped around 8 a.m. So, I am now alcohol-free until I finish taking pain meds and I am going to make sure I eat enough! I thought I was going to have to go to the emergency room!

Needless to say, I was exhausted today and didn't do anything, but take a nap this afternoon. Feeling much better! I hope that doesn't happen again!

Have a great night! I'm off tomorrow, but still have to get up early for PT. :(

Oh, well. Have a great week!

I did my race on Saturday morning. It was really nice and well run for a 1st annual race. My sister finished just in front of me and came in 3rd in our age group (50-59). I was so happy for her!! I was right behind her but did not place.

Sunday I ran 8 miles. Yesterday I took a rest day because my sinuses are acting up and I'm tired. Today will be a rest day.

Tricia ~ At least you have a course of action for your next step. I'm hoping that PT will take care of it and you will not need surgery. I am very careful about mixing alcohol and drugs, even OTC drugs. I'm glad you are feeling better.

Alisha ~ We have HUGE pinecones around here. Of course those are ones I see. It's the smaller ones I trip over. Ankle is better now..just have to get rid of this sinus crap.

Jane - Wow! Your sister is becoming a speed demon! So happy to see her excelling! Glad you both had a good race!

I hate sinus issues! Rest day is a good idea.

I'm not used to having to take drugs. I'm learning really fast.

I do remember pine cones. We have mostly acorn trees up here. The pups trail them into the house tucked into the pads of their paws and we get the caps and nutshells to step on barefoot all over the place! Ouchie! AND in the bed when they come in from outside in the middle of the night! Those feel good under your back on occasions! lol

Hi Alisha! Hope your week is going well!

I played golf tonight. Didn't have a very good night out of the tee box. Ugh. That's okay. We had fun!

I'll be starting my regular workouts tomorrow. Then I play golf again on Thursday. Then I can work out again on Friday. Then I have golf clinic and am playing 9 holes with some of the ladies from clinic after that on Saturday. Then I have a tournament on Sunday! Fall is coming. I'll be able to work out more then! lolol I SOOOOOOO love GOLF!

Jane it's so great to hear that your sister is doing well with her running :)

Tricia I'm sorry that you're have arthritis and the herniated disc. Have you thought about an inversion table? I've heard that can help some people with their herniated disc pain.

I am doing a DVD called dance for weight-loss with Patricia Moreno. I am looking forward to fall temperatures:)

Alisha - Funny you should mention that! It did cross my mind. Just wouldn't know where to put the thing! lol And I wonder if insurance would pay for it? We have fall temps here. You could always come visit for a while! I'll trade you! Summer will be over (feels like it already is) and winter will hit soon enough!

That workout sounds fun!

Played golf - terribly - on Tuesday night. That's okay, we had fun! Might play tomorrow after work. I'm playing on Saturday and have a tournament on Sunday. Woo-Hoo! Lots and lots of golf!

Hi Jane!

I took that last couple of days as rest days (M, T, Wed). Yesterday was my birthday. We celebrated last Saturday but I took the day off, slept in until 7:30 and did nothing the whole day it was nice.

I am working out tonight. I just haven't found a workout yet. It's really hot today 95 with heat indexes over 100 but we will still workout in the yard...under the carport with a fan.

Tricia ~ I'm glad you enjoyed golfing.

Alisha ~ Your workout sounds like fun.

I did 30 minutes of step this morning.

Tricia I will take those fall temperatures. We are looking at triple digits again. I'm glad that you had fun playing golf.

Jane I'm glad that you enjoyed your birthday. What workout did you end up doing? I think I'd also wear a ice pack on my neck if it was 95°.
