I hate cardio, the day after Nov 27th because I am still going to hate it

I am back! This is for anyone who remembers me. Big computer server problems. And I couldn't sign in successfully in this place. I am kicking myself for ever leaving my former server. As of Feb, I am going back to Comcast. The cable was alot better too

I am starting this now because tomorrow I am doing Butts and Guts cuz today I did Drill Max. I love Drill Max! I even love the cardio (hahahahahaha). butt and guts is amazing, like the woman who leads in it. I get sore still after doing it the next day and I have done it now for three weeks.

Okay, so I am back......will post tomorrow.

By the way, brag brag, my younger daughter is doing great in the first grade. Aced her comprehension tests, had the highest scores. Is a pleasure to have as a student. I am sooo thrilled......

so until tomorrow.....you all have a great night!

Kate

ACK! Kate is back, Kate is back!

LMAO, what's with the confusing title? That's almost as misleading as my "Doing Yoga with a Stuffed Up Nose - Hate It!" title. It took me a few seconds to become clever enough to realize that "the day after the 27th" means the 28th.

Kate - When I first saw your post and didn't recognize your user name, I was so curious as to who started our hate thread. What a nice surprise to see it is you! My answer is "dark." :9 That's great about your DD and her comprehension tests. Congrats to her!

Wow, I would love a cooking area to cook my fish. My kitchen is also my living room and bedroom! So believe it or not, the contents of my cupboard might sound sparse, but they actually fill my tiny cupboard!

Jeanette - I hope you hadn't put milk on your Raisin Bran flakes before remembering the steel cut oats in your fridge. Do you take a scoop out and just reheat it, or when you cook it, do you just half cook it, and then need to put liquid in and cook it up at all the way? That peanut butter honey tortilla sounds daaang good.

Michele - I like the idea of smashing up banana into barley. I'm really into bananas these days, and have been cutting them in halves the long way, and spreading organic peanut butter on them and washing it all down with some soy milk for my afternoon snack (when I'm not eating my raw nuts, of course :) ). Yu-hum! Anyway, I tend to like my sweet things on the bitter-sweet side rather than sweet, let alone unnaturally sweet, so those I don't think I'd get too far with sweeteners.

Now you made we want to rent Christmas Story LOL.

Ah, the is it a yam or is it a sweet potato. Don't some people call sweet potatoes yams? It's quite confusing.

Diane - Ooh, you're back! Welcome back! Congratulations for keeping up with your running over Thanksgiving!

Dana - Oh man, that sucks about the lost tax data. And it sucks about your computer, too. I hope you'll be able to read today's posts tomorrow (LOL). So how did you fish turn out? My fish was marinated in miso paste, so it was actually the miso paste that burned (I was doing my yoga while I was cooking the fish, and I could hear it sizzling, but I was just in the middle of my deep breathing x( ). Once I peeled the burnt miso off, the fish itself was pretty good. Ooh, Michele came up with some nice ideas for your gift basket. Ooh, and so did Robin. You could also do the flip side of a facial and get her a full-out pedicure (I know you mentioned your boss doesn't like massage, but a foot massage is a bit different...?).

Deb - Reverse psychology! Ahahaha! Trick that brain! I still have yet to try out my Gin Miller Intense Moves. But I hear lots of great things about it, so I'm glad I have it even if I haven't touched it. :D

Robin - 10! 10! 10! 10! 10! CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is so great! Good for you, and good for you for keeping up with all your workouts! Tristan's work sounds cool. It must be fun to be handling all those electronic things. I hope he gets some freebies! :p

Ahhhh, okay, it's Power Hour today (ugh, endurance). I decided to switch my off day this Thursday to yesterday since I couldn't summon up the urge to do my cardio after coming back from lunch. What a wimp. :*

Whhhaaaatttttt.....WOW...the planets must be in the right orbit, Kate and Janjan back in the same day........

:p :p :p :p :p }( }( }( }( }(

I am 1/2 awake because I get up at 5am every morning and by this time I am ready to go to bed, but thought I would say HELLO to everyone.

Reader's Digest version of my life: My child now not only walks on her own, but has figured out how to get into every single thing in the house and run, not walk, but run around. She also is into "head-butting" everything. I have no idea where she has picked up this strange behavior.

I am superduper busy with work. For it being the holidays, you would think we would all be sitting around christmas shopping on-line, but NO..not me...super busy. I work too much and well I work too much. I have a new co-worker and I think I am ready to kill this lady, long story with her, but she is driving me nuts. I go back to Denver in December and I am excited with that, work is really great, just busy.

Let's see..oh the knee...well I can walk on the dreadmill 3x's per week for about 20 mins at a time at the super fast pace of 3.2!! Yeah, speed racer huh? Oh, well it's a start.

School is almost done, well heck it's done in August, but I am almost there..right???,....enough about that subject.

Well, that's my life in a nutshell. I did the Guts section on Butts and Guts and wow, that was fun. It hurt to laugh for about 2 days after it, but well worth it. I think when I get to the butts section I will have to modify, so I will report more on that.

Well, that's it. Hello to Michele, August, Dana, Kate, and Diane, oh and anyone I don't know yet.

I will be sure to check back in before 2007!!

Be good and safe everyone!
Janjan

Where...where...where am I...and WTH is milkordark!? LMAO!

KATE!!! Our little lost shee...er...chocolate bar has come home! I had the same reaction August had. I wondered if we had a new, brave person wanting to join our check in. So you switched internet servers and the new company is worse? Oh man, that's terrible. It wounds like you're still working out like a nut--lol! My gosh! It's just great to see you here again, tall, or milk or dark--we love ya! Oh hey, congratulations on your DD's comprehension scorers. That's great!

Janjan!!! Where have you been!? We've missed you, too! I'll just bet your DD's a handful and a half--just like her mother;) . I hate your new job--lol! I still don't understand just exactly it is that you do. I'm glad you can do a little time on the dreadmill. Do you expect to be able to increase your activity anytime soon? I feel terrible about your knee and I hope it continues to improve.

ROBIN!!! Congratulations on your size 10 jeans! That must feel so good. There's nothing better than fitting into a pair of skinny jeans. I sure wish you could've had the weight loss without all the trauma, though. I confess that I've been quite worried about you. --You must be so proud of Tristan! I cannot get over how well he is doing. --When do you go on 3-11 shift? Is that a temporary shift change? Your DD is so lucky to have you. You're the best mom EVER! You've sacrificed so much for her sake. I know she can't possibly realize it right now, but one day she will. You're a great mother, Robin. Truly you are.

Oh boy! DH is just pulling in the driveway so I need to go. I have an early dentist appt out of town tomorrow so I'm not sure when I'll be on the forums--sometime in the afternoon or early evening.

Deb, Jeanette, Diane, Dana, August--everyone--have a great day tomorrow and I'll see you soon :* :*

I'm back. Guess who can't sleep? Of course, DH is sound asleep and snoring;( . I've been stuffing him full of barley--lol! He told me to keep it coming:7 .

I made a pot of soup tonight. They had some Italian chicken sausage at the grocery store today so I browned up a few links and then started going crazy throwing vegetables into the pot. I used fresh spinach, canned tomatoes, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, zucchini, cannellini beans, and (drumroll please) barley...hahahaha! Oh yeah, and broth.

Robin and Jeanette, I looked for barley flakes today but my store didn't have them--they only had pearled barley BUT, they did have quick cooking pearled barley so I bought a box. It's supposed to cook up in 10 minutes which will make it an easier choice for breakfast, and it has the same amount of fiber and nutrients as the regular pearled barley.

August, you must, Must, MUST rent The Christmas Story! OMG--it's hilarious! We watch it a couple of times every Christmas season. I'm not saying it replaces movies like "It's a Wonderful Life", but it's become a classic in it's own right. Robin, Dana, and I give it a rating of 5 dumbbells.

Here's a clip:
http://www2.warnerbros.com/achristmasstory/clip.html

I'm hungry for a banana with PB. I wonder if barley would taste good with a gooey dollop of creamy PB swirled through it?

Yeah, I think people use "yam" and "sweet potato" interchangeably. I really don't know how to tell the difference between them, but I don't think yams are commonly found in US markets. I read somewhere that even when they have a potato labeled as a yam, it's probably a sweet potato. Yams are a product of the tropics whereas sweet potatoes are grown in the southern US. I believe yams are grown in parts of Asia, too. I think this would be a proud moment for my elementary school geography teacher.:p :7

I'm going to see if I can come up with a recipe that incorporates sweet potatoes, barley, and green beans. Think of the magic!!

Okay, I'm going back to bed. Think of me in the morning sitting in the dentist's chair getting a crown;(.

G'night :* :*

I thought yams and sweet potatoes were the same thing......dang, I am a blonde! I agree August, you MUST watch the Christmas Story, its a really cute movie.

Ok, back to school work...just a FYI it is 5:48 am and I have been up for an hour...geeze....I get up too early!!

RE: I hate cardio, the day after Nov 27th because I am ...

Is this Tuesday's hate thread? I'm so confused. Janjan and Katie, nice to meet you. I'm a cardio lover who is pretending to hate cardio because I have enjoyed this thread so much.

Michele, you are right about the yam/sweet potato thing. There was an article, I think in Cooking Light, about them being one and the same in the US. Hope the dentist appointment goes well and the headache disappears.

Christmas Story is a holiday must see. Whose mommies little piggy?

I was hoping to start the Nov rotation this week, but I realized that I just won't have the time between babysitting, work and Christmas preparations. Instead I started CTX. I'll just rotate thru those workouts till Jan.

Have a great, barley and sweet potato filled day all.

RE: I hate cardio, the day after Nov 27th because I am ...

dark chocolate? NO WAY. Milk all the way!! More fat, more calories, and who doesn't want that!!

"A Christmas Story" is a classic. Remember when those horrible lamps went for sale. Yikes. I even thought I should have one. No BB gun for me though. And I loved the Santa slide. Great movie.

I did Butts and Gutts today. Killer workout. My fave lower body workout

My older daughter is beginning to fill out (she will be 11 next month) and she thinks she is gettting fat. I hate the way the television is making our little girls so crazy about their appearance. I didn't get that way until age 15 when I started changing from a full lunch to a diet pepsi and nothing more instead. Maybe killng all those brain cells worked their way to my fetus. NO NO NO NO NO. I hate the Paris Hilton!!! and all her cronies!!!

Anyway, time to get my little thing up for school!

Kate

HI August, Kate, Janjan, Robin, Michele and everyone else--Robin, isn't it funny how we cardio lovers have snuck our way onto this thread?? We'll convert 'em yet--I agree that The Christmas Story is a really funny movie-a must see (and White Christmas- one of my favorites)--well this is what I did today heaven help me: Gin Miller Intense Moves/20 min. elliptical/ Gym Styles Back shoulders and biceps/C & W abs only and a 40 min. walk (I'll do that later)-man if you gals don't hear from me for a couple of days alert my family and tell them to check under the pile of cathe dvds (LOL)- I don't know how much longer my body will hold up but for now I'm workin it--speakin of yams or sweet poataters, does anybody know a good recipe besides making them into chips and baking or the marshmallow dish??--bbl--deb

Hi everybody~~

I just got home from my dentist appt. My dentist is out of town and it's kind of an all day thing when I go. I see a specialist because I have oral lichen planus, and well, don't ask.

I went to bed with a migraine and woke up with a migraine. I've taken lots of Ibuprofen and it gets a little better than comes back. It's back with a vengeance right now so I think I'm going to bed.

Sorry to be a downer. I'll BBL tonight or tomorrow :* :*

Afternoon haters. My computer is so messed up that I didn't see this post until now. DH was complaining b/c he kept getting kicked off of e-bay. This machine is possessed!!

I was reading the first post and I"m like who the heck is this person????? But I figured out it was Kate when she mentioned her DD. I prefer dark over milk by the way, if you care. ;) Glad that you're back!!!

Jana - I"ve missed you. Sounds like Miss Marley gives you quite the workout. Gannon does the same. They are maniacs at this age. I'm running around more then sitting. I definitely get no relaxation. Oh well. Remember when you kept saying that she wouldn't walk, she wasn't walking?? Now look out!!!

August - the fish actually turned out yummy! I think the trick was that I cooked it at 500. I usually cook it at 350-375 and I remember a recipe that I used before called for a higher temp. So all that I did was put the fish in a glass casserole and put lemon pepper seasoning, season salt, fresh parsely and drizzled with olive oil and covered with foil. Baked @500 for 15 minutes and it was delish! I was thinking about Jana's pineapple chicken that she posted over the summer. My gawd was that good. I"m going to have to dig up the recipe.

Robin - congrats on the pant size. :) I'm glad to hear that Tristen is doing well. Sounds like they keep him busy. Are you busy on 2nd shift?

Michele you crack me up. I'll give my boss "August's magical gift basket" but you forgot to add the prune activa yogurt!!! Yuck!!! How did your breakfast turn out the other day? I printed the recipe but I didn't have any of the ingredients. Remember when I told you that bugs got in my steel oats? Same thing happened to the barley. I don't know how long it sits on the shelves? Nothing like that ever happened to me before but this is 2x in the past few months that moths have taken over. It is gross!!!

Back to work tomorrow. That is a love/hate thing. I'm bored at home but I'm not looking forward to getting up at 4:00-5:00, I've been sleeping in this past week.

Tonight I"m going to do GS Shoulders/Back/Biceps which is my fave workout. But that means that sometime this week I will have to work chest and triceps. I will definitely not be doing GS Chest/Triceps. I HATE that workout. I don't mind the triceps but HATE all those pushups!

Diane - forgot to congrat you yesterday for getting back into running. You rock!

Well I"m blabbering now so I'll better go. No idea what I"m going to make for dinner????? Hello to anyone that I may have forgotten.

Have a great afternoon/evening all! :)

Good morning,
Today's workout was GS Back and then the cardio conditioning premix from KPC. I have a date with Sean for Cardio Coach #5 on the bike tonite. Haven't tried that one yet. I read about other people doing a couple of CC's in one session. I can't even imagine. When I'm at my level 4 effort, it is really difficult to stay there. Maybe I'm just not doing it right, huh? I think I'm doing something right, though, because my cycling has gotten stronger.

Hi Kate, nice to meet you. Hope you get those server problems ironed out. Sounds like your daughter is making you proud :7. Our sons didn't do so well in school at younger ages, but now that they are grown, they are way more motivated to do well with bookwork. Both sons are linemen and still doing their apprenticeships, which requires tons of studying and lots of math. They both do well, now.

August, I ate a bowl of steel cut oats when I got home from work and shopping last night. Yes, it was nice and congealed, but I spooned off a big piece, popped it in the microwave for a couple of minutes, added some sweetener, milk and voila, dinner. I enjoyed it immensely. Hey, don't go the route of the peanut butter/tortilla thing. Trust me, though I loved it at the time. Yep, you've got to see the Christmas Story. Love that part when he has to try on his gift. It's a classic for sure. And when he says the bad word, priceless!

Diane, way to go for getting the running in. Must be nice to work out with your DH. Mine says he's going to start back on the Bowflex after the first of the year.

Michele, hope the dentist appointment goes well. I'm really not fond of going myself, but have my teeth cleaned 3 times a year. I'm one of those hand holders. I hold my own hands on my lap in front of me. I tried to find barley flakes yesterday at 2 stores but couldn't, so bought the whole. Think I'll soak it first and it may cook faster. If I really like it, I may find some flakes online. Did I say that LOL?

Hi Jan, nice to meet you too. Hope the knees is steadily improving. Boy, it's been a long haul for it. I really like Butts and Guts. Very effective.

Robin, way to go on the jeans!!! That's got to be a great feeling!

I just got home from work and will post this (I wrote it this morning) and add more later.

Jeanette
