I'm sorry to hear about your father and what happened. That must have been really scary for your brother to see. If it had to happen though, thank goodness it happened where and when it did, and not while you're father was driving or alone somewhere. That's great that he hasn't been drinking. I hope he'll be doing better soon.

August - you're cracking me up with the bird talk. Don't worry, they'll come. Just give em time! I heard the birdies chirping this morning.

Michele - how were your treats from the grocery store? Did you do a workout? My DH took my tv out of my workout room and hooked itup so Gabe could watch cartoons down the basement. WTH?????? We have 3 other tv's in the house, why must he touch my stuff!?!?!?!?!?

Robin- ^5 for you and your workout. I wish I had your energy. That was so sweet of your sister to send you flowers.

Jennifer - did you get more snow???

Jen - how are you feeling?

I'm home AGAIN. I'm surprised that I haven't gotten fired or at least talked to from missing work. Gabe has a 2-hour delay and my DH went to work so I have to put him on the bus. The school I work for also has a 2 hour delay but office staff have to report at normal time. So I have to use vacation time for this morning. The parking lot where I normally park to put Gabe on the bus has not been plowed so we have to walk to the bus stop. It is a mess outside and there is no room to walk on the side of the road. Did I mention that the road I live on has a speed limit of 35 but most people fly by so I pray we don't get run over. And I have to take Gannon too. Oh I hate this damn weather. And speaking of me missing work, Gabe has off school on Monday for President's Day. I do not, so once again I have to take off work. And he has his behavior apppt so I have to leave early. I'm serious, I'm waiting for someone to give me the boot.

Yes it is very difficult growing up with an addict. My dad was a good father but I still remember things that I wish I didn't. About a year ago he was rushed to the ER b/c the waitress at the restaurant thought he was having a heart attack. He was stumbling and slurring, etc. Guess what? He was drunk - it was mid-day. Yes, the ER confirmed he was drunk. Then a few months ago, he had a dr's appt in the evening. Hmmm, think I'll stop for a few beers on the way to my appt. Who goes to the dr's after drinking???? The dr called the police on him. My brother rarely comes home from CT to visit b/c he doesn't want to deal with all this "drama". I pity my mom b/c she has to deal with it. They have been married for I think 37 years?????

I hope you all have a wonderful day. I won't be checking back in anymore today (unless I get a minute during lunch).

Dana, the sun is supposed to shine today and tomorrow. Hopefully it will thaw all this nasty ice. I'm sorry about your family issues. My mom and dad were both alcoholics, but they kept their drinking to the evening hours. My dad usually drank beer and rarely got mean. He saved that for the nights he drank whiskey. My mom was a martini gal. I think most of her senile dementia is due to brain damage from years of tippling.

Michele, how was your day off from family? Did you do a workout? Are you back to nursing duty today?

Jennifer, did you have to shovel last night or this morning? I'm so glad winter held off until I was home on medical leave. It's such a nice feeling to watch the snow fall and know you don't have to go anywhere.

Jenn, is your cold any better? I'm thinking of starting my packing list for our trip to St John. I always overpack. You'd think I'd learn, since we spend most of our time in bathing suits.

I'm taking a rest day. My knee was bothersome last night. I'll just stick to my doctor's exercises. Have a great VD all.

I'm happy to report that I DID NOT eat ALL of the treats I brought home yesterday, however, I did eat half of them. I had the individual pineapple upside down cake after lunch, and then between the afternoon and bedtime I finished off one box of the caramels }( (there's only 7 in a box and they're really small -- no really -- they're super small -- like bitesize -- more like half a bite :D ). I put the other box away for DH and I'll have the cupcake for dessert tonight. I'm definitely having the chocolate cupcake -- definitely ;) }( :9

My niece saw the orthopedic surgeon yesterday. He removed her sutures and gave her permission to shower -- her first shower since her accident. Of course, she can't bathe herself because she can't use her broken arm -- she can't move it at all ;( -- so the occupational therapist gave her a good hot shower and washed her hair. I wish you could've seen her hair -- it was all matted to her head with dried blood -- EWWWWWWWWWWWW. We tried the best we could to get the blood and debris out of her hair but there's only so much you can do when you have sutures in your head. Anyway, she's feeling much better now that she's had a good shampoo ;) . I'm going to frizzle up some chicken tenders for her today. I must admit, I thoroughly enjoyed staying home yesterday and I think I'll do the same tomorrow.

You be careful walking along the road! That's how my niece got hit ;(. I have a whole new appreciation for walking on the side of the road now. DH's cousin was hit while riding a bike a few years ago and he's now permanently handicapped. He was an ER doctor and he had to quit work. There's so much traffic anymore and people drive like crazy fools!

I don't' think you'll get fired. You have no choice but to be home if your kids are home. And it's not like you're a slacker. I'm sure you're worth your weight in gold to your boss, and I know you do more than your share on any given day.

As for your dad's shenanigans -- I remember all too well ;(

ROBIN -- I'm glad Greyor enjoyed the beagle video -- lol! I feel really badly about not doing my workout. I mean, look at you -- you did push ups with a gimpy leg and I didn't even so much as march with Leslie -- LMAO!! Enjoy your rest day -- you deserve it.

CUZ -- did you get your MRI results? Why did you need an MRI -- was your leg giving you more trouble? Where are my cookies? :p . Yeah -- the elliptical -- that's what I need!!

Afternoon haters!!! I just had to tell you all this. My DH sent me flowers for Valentine's Day. We have been together 8.5 years and he has NEVER sent me flowers so I was shocked!!!!!

Michele - I bet your niece felt wonderful after finally being able to shower.

I'd love to stay and chat but I have to get back to work.

Sorry MIA. So little nap time so I usually workout or clean during them so haven't had much internet time. Hope everyone has a great v day. I think DH and I are just going to have a little wine with our normal dinner after Ella is in bed. No gifts this year, spending too much as it is!
 
Hello Haters and Miss Ella Grace.

My Valentines Gift today was from my neighbour, who shoveled our ramp and got me unstuck today. I got to do MM last night and plan to do CardioPOwer (whatever the step one is) from 4DS.

Friday night is dinner for my other Michele, who is is leaving. We're going to have Wet Burritos and Beer. So, thank GOD, for shoveling and working out.

Seville and Madrid are doing well.

Diane-Your Daughter is so beautiful!! And, she's getting big.
