Hardcore Fitness Maniac's - Sunday, Oct. 10th

Good Morning -

Hermia - Hope you had a good workout yesterday evening. With your crazy schedule, I admire how you seem to manage things and still get them in at all. I'm guessing you've explained it, but I don't remember what the different levels for yoga classes signify. Do you most often take level 2? Would like to hear what you think of the clips. Can't remember if you pre-ordered. Anyway, always glad to see you checked in. Hope you're having a great weekend :)

Diane Sue - Sounds like a good day. I did wonder how you'd handle all the sitting though. I don't think you do it very often ;) and if I recall, motorcycle seats can get ... uncomfortable. I suppose any/all seats do after an extended time, though. Why is it called a "Poker Run?" I hesitate to ask that cuz I have a feeling the answer's pretty obvious. The extra rest will probably do you good (if you actually take it). Hope you have a relaxing day.

My day didn't go at all as planned yesterday. Switched my schedule around a little. Just wasn't up for Muscle Endurance or much else. So, I did tomorrow's workout yesterday and will probably do the Viper later this week on a Cardio day since it has ME tracks included. I know. A bit confusing, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do today (legs scheduled). I probably need a rest day, but would like to take that later this week. I'll be back later to post weights and my workout (if I do one).

Have a good day -

Lori

Lori, it is a poker run because they give you a sheet of cards. You draw a card at each stop and they stamp it and you sign it. There is a prize, this time being 1000 dollars at the end for the best hand. Never have won one though. Then there are raffle prizes. We had 5 stops. The last one had a meal with it and everyone hung out at a park. One was at a Casino. They did have coupons for 10 dollars if you spent 10 on the slots. We are not gamblers and said no thanks. I felt bad because it seemed like a place to lose lots of money and smoke yourself to death. I hate cigarettes. They had ashtrays even in the restroom stalls. We left there asap. But that is the description. There are also t shirt sales to raise money. The money went for a police officer that died's family so there was also a jar to donate. That is pretty much how the ones we go to are.

Hi guys. SOrry I wasn't here yesterday. We are finishing our upstairs (master BR, nursery, my office, and MY OWN closet lol) So we were busy all morning up there and then had a bday party for our friends son. So, pizza and cake. Yuk. Well, yum actually, but Yuk lol.

I had errands today and housework. I have Burn Circuit 1 planned for this evening. But, if I can, I want to add a walk or a little kickboxing. Depends on how cold it gets.

DS- sounds like your Poker Run was alot of fun. I can see your tush needing a break tho lol!

Deb- I see you are still rocking those weights as before! Good for you!

OK, I have a poopy diaper calling my name!

Maehgan, I need to clean out my closet. We have a huge room size closet in the master bedroom but I chose a tiny closet in the workout room since it is next to the other bathroom. I prefer my area all together. I was spoiled with the last house:) I just store seasonal clothing to save space. I love pizza but am not a cake fan LOL Burn Circuit 1 is the only Chalene Extreme workout that I have because it came with Turbo Fire. I like it. I have to adjust a couple of moves for my knees. I wish I could check out more. I hate those poopy pants in the middle of doing something:eek:

Hello!

megadoo, you are getting your own closet? cool! That sounds neat. I have housework today, too. I usually do laundry on Sunday and wash the sheets like every other week, but I was just reading the other day how you should wash them once a week and maybe even more if you have a pet that sleeps on the bed, so I want to start doing that. The article was saying it can make a difference in people getting sick so that was motivating.

Lori, there are three main levels (1-3), but there are also level 1/2 and 2/3, so kind of like an in between stage. One is the beginner level. There doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency, however. The 1/2 class I usually go to on Monday is not as challenging as the 1/2 I used to go to when my schedule permitted me to go there on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I have heard this teacher, however, refer to her class as "ridiculously athletic", which I really do not think it is, but she has obviously been doing yoga longer than me, so maybe it is by the general standards of that level. I modify somewhat to make it more challenging. Also, the level 2 class I go to now is a really good workout, but I don't have to take easier modifications much. Another teacher's level 2 class, however, I have to modify much more and I feel like I can barely make it towards the end!

I still need to watch those clips! Are you guys all ordering? I'm sure I will end up getting them. =)

Yesterday I did the Timesaver lower body premix from Amy's All-Pump Xtreme. That one has lots of functional moves in it. Then I did the abs section from 10 min solution Rapid Results Pilates.

No workout yet today...just ate a huge lunch, though.

Well, I managed my walk with the baby. There are so many hills on my road! I worked up a sweat tho, and really enjoyed the scenery. We moved into this house last Jan. There are farms all around us. It is so beautiful here. I love it.

DS- I love Chalean Extreme. I have done it twice and have gotten great results both times. I am hoping for the same this time. I SO miss Cathe step tho lol. But I have to wait until upstairs is done first for the room.

Hermia- YES!! I get my own walk in closet. My fiance surprised me with it when he framed up the upstairs. I also get my own office area right off our bedroom. We started from scratch, so this will be really nice! I will post pics when it is done. I need to go thru all my clothes tho. I still do not fit into most of my clothes as of yet. So when I lose this baby weight, it will be like having a whole new wardrobe loL!

Hermia, it sounds like you are pretty advanced. I bet it is hard to find a class that is really challenging. But, that is a good thing right? :D I wash my sheets once a week and if one of us is not feeling well I throw them in the machine in between. I think we drag a lot of things to bed with us. I was reading recently that if you have allergies you should bathe before crawling into bed to clean off anything you might have picked up. I still don't do that. I sponge off but my shower is after my morning workout.

Maeghan, we live in the country too. Not too hilly though. Lots of people are out here walking their pets or taking their babies for walks. Our neighbor who just had neck surgury for bone spurs is walking daily. I saw him coming back today when I was outside. He said he has been going 3 miles a day. Next week he plans on 4. Our housing tract is sort of by itself. Across the road is longhorns and a buffalo named Coby. My granddaughter named him Buffalo Bill a long time ago:D I love being in the country. Last winter when I left early in the morning you could see the steam coming up off of the water around the area and out of the woods. It is so awesome looking:D

Yes DS, that is how it is here too. We live near a Resevoir so we get the fog and steam from that also. I have pics on FB of our view. I just love the farms. We here the cows and roosters every morning. LOL. I grew up in the country and knew that is the way to go for me. I need the trees and quiet. Suburbs and cities are not for me. It sounds very nice where you live also. Especially for the kids/grandkids.

Diane Sue, I wish I were really advanced! I think I'm appx intermediate. The studio I go to is pretty big and has tons of people, so there are lots of people of all levels. I've seen some pretty amazing people in the classes I go to; I can't imagine what they do in the level 2/3 and 3 classes!

Living in the country sounds beautiful. I know my fiance wishes we could live in rural idaho. Various members of his family have property/are planning on buying property up there, but we're tied to southern california by his job.

Just finished my workout. I did the 4DS premix with upper body and LIC, except I stopped at appx 45 minutes, so I didn't do the combined combos and abs. I just did my own stretch, which was abbreviated due to the entrance of my kitty.

Posting late (couldn‘t sleep), so please forgive any typo's.

Diane Sue- Thank you for explaining the poker run. Enjoyed your (and Meaghan’s)descriptions of where you live.

Hermia - Thank you too, for filling me in on the different levels of the yoga classes. Nice job on the 4DS mix. Pets and children are good reasons to abbreviate work outs … especially as so many people’s pets are very much like their own children :)

Here is my weight work for the weekend. I did biceps on Saturday and legs and shoulders, Sunday.

Slow And Heavy shoulders used an up 2, peak hold 2, down 3 count
Lateral raises (did these first) 3 sets 12/12/11 (third set changed to up 2, high end partials, down 2)
Anterior raise with palms up at 45’ angle (Charles Glass version - different - kinda tough)) : 3 sets @ 8/8/7 lbs
Rear delt press 3 sets @ 13/12/11lbs
Overhead db press 2 sets @ 18 lbs
From Amy’s Slo Mo:
8 count barbell overhead press: 40 lbs (getting tired)
3 sets Cuban Press @ 8 lbs (did these a bit differently than Amy -- not letting elbows drop - more strictly rotary cuff focused)
Incline front raise 3 sets (first 2, 4/4 count - last one a 2/2 count) 8 lb dbs
Rear fly w/ ext. rotation at top - 3 sets 10/10/9 lbs

Slow and heavy Biceps
Dumbbell curls 3 sets @ 20/20/18 lbs
Hammer curls 3 sets @ 17/16/15 lbs
Barbell curls 3 sets @ 35/33/33 lbs
(these weights were just perfect - any heavier and I doubt I’d have been able to keep good form. My biceps are one of my stubborn (lagging) muscle groups. Saw some improvement here.

Finished with Biceps Bonfire from Bento’s Slo Mo. Hard to explain this exercise. It’s a variation on an incline curl, but the hard part is really this elbow ’tag’ portion of the move. Really works the stretch the entire time. 3 sets with 10 lbs. These, I really felt - had thought to include Amy’s band work but after that last set, I was DONE.

Legs -- Power Hour Standard Squats: 95 lbs (55 on bar and two 20 lb weighted vests). This set felt great. Form was spot on and felt every rep. Somewhere after the low end series, I skipped 4 singles. That was just enough to come back in and finish strong. Took off one of the vests for plies. Think I prefer to do these holding a dumbbell down and with both hands (like in S & H).
Static lunges: (legs were tired - really felt these right away) 40 lbs for barbell segment and two 15 lb kbs for db segment.
A. Bento’s APX Curtsy Dip into Side Lunge (for side lunge, I subbed in an uneven squat w/ moving leg on step for balance. Kept the work in one leg but from different angle). Used one 20 lb vest and two 10 lb. dbs.
APX Balancing Stick - Just used two tens. Lots of balance in this move. I was tired and still really felt these. Nice finisher.
