ETL Challenge - Jan. 14th Sunday

Hi Ladies -

I haven't had the chance to check in since Friday morning. I was in Louisiana all day Friday and then DH has been working from home and taking over the computer this weekend.

Anyway, the trip to Louisiana went fine...except that my boss chose to eat lunch at a pizza place. So I went off the plan for that (though I got veggies on my pizza).

This has been my menu:

Friday:

B: steel cut oats and fruit
L: personal pizza with veggies (at least it was a thin crust and not too greasy)
D: went out to dinner at Ziggys (healthier restaurant) and got a veggie plate - black beans and brown rice, spinach and mushrooms, and a winter squash cooked with walnuts, apple slices and honey in it (I will have to try that at home, it was yummy).

On the way home from dinner, we noticed another healthy restaurant and stopped by to get a menu. This is the MOST AWESOME RESTAURANT EVER!! It mostly all vegan, they use Ezekiel bread, almost all organic, etc. We can't wait to try it next week.

Here is the website, go and click on the menu. It gave me some ideas for dinners too.

Across the street from this place was another vegetarian place.

Then I looked online and there are at least 10 vegetarian restaurants in Houston, several of them very close to our house. It is a big city so I am not totally surprised, but this is Houston, one of the fattest cities in the nation, not California or something. But I am so happy we have these options now.

ETA: Forgot to put my menu for today:

B: fruit smootie
L: salad and beans
D: I think today is a veggie stir fry on brown rice with a side of baked tofu rolled in wheat germ and some carrots and tomatoes.

Hi Diane- You are lucky to chave so many veggie restaurants relatively near by! Your choices look yummy.

Yesterday we had the grandparents over for lunch again. So I had many choices on the table: tossed salad, hummus (home made) and raw veggies, fresh canteloupe and pineapple, baked ham (they have to have their meat) rolls, sprouts.

We are doing OK here and the chocolate is almost gone. My cravings for chocolate are decreasing. :)
