Damage Control Saturday

Good Morning Peeps.

I caught up with personals last night so go check 'em out if you haven't already. :)

Today's work out will be NMTZ or BLBC. I was going to do the pyramids but decided that I wanted to stay the course instead. It's not like I WON'T get to try out my new toys either way! :D

Well, in about 6 hours yesterday, my (new and improved) ped told me I took 2212 steps. That sure doesn't calculate out to 10,000 steps in a day! In my defense though, it WAS a rest day! ;) I will really have to try and up the steps on rest days I guess.

Time for me to get coffee!

Okay, I have a new challenge for myself that will help increase my daily step count. I am going to walk up/down the steps in my house as many times a day as I can w/o looking like a total lunatic! :p I think I've climbed the stairs about 10x already this morning! Every time I get up I am going to do it as well as randomly as I am walking around doing chores or whatever. It'll give me a momentary excuse to stop doing housework! ;)

Happy Saturday ! ! !

Good morning chickies ! :p

Well we have sun this AM for the first time in about a week. It has been getting sunny just before lunch but the birds are out singing early today !

B & G was tough last night - can you remember Disco Inferno? "Burn baby burn" . . . yep, that was my behind last night. Did start with the pedometer on but it was definitely just sensing motion so I took it off after a bit. Then I thought, well how much effort does it really take to take just one step? If I am doing twisting motions or punching motions, that should be equivalent to a step anyway, right?

So my thinking is that just walking 10K steps gets most people a decent amount of exercise if they are not fanatics like us here. So that is where the idea of 10K comes in. If we are having a rest day or more sedentary day, keeping track of steps will help us stay moving in order to get a good day's caloric burn in there. When we have a day with a workout or where we are moving lots (shopping, taking the kids to the park and chasing them, running around alot at work, freaking out and running up and down the stairs in our house . . . ;)) we'll get our caloric burn for the day in there anyway. So I think I'll wear mine during the day, when I am running or walking on the TM, but not when doing a weight workout, step, kick, KB, etc workout. That would probably count for a good 2K worth of calorie burn. Done with the pedometer talk . . . :p Guess for now that is our latest Damage Controller, huh?

Took a look at my credit card payment - need to calculate my other bills and then I'll see if GWF is in the near future for me here . . . It might be what I need to be accountable to myself.

Wendy - LOL about throwing the pedometer in the trash at work y'day ! Glad the new one is working better. Did you go to Sports Authority again? If yes, which one did you pick up this time? Does it work better as far as "motion detection" vs actual steps? Have you used it for a workout?

And ROFLMAO about running up and down the stairs - however, I have said many times that I was in decent shape without working out when I had a two story house (I never pile things at the bottom but always took them upstairs thus creating lots of steps daily) and when I had little ones (because my UB was very toned from picking them up, etc.). So agree that stairs in the house are great workouts - especially for the back end and thighs ! YOU GO GIRL !

Well hope your DB's give you a fun workout today. Which weighted gloves do you have? That was my last workout gear question for you today, promise !

Diana - Thanks for posting the steps for those workouts. My pedo was showing about 130 steps at a jog (5.5 mph) so that is very close. I did count also and seems close enough. Of course it depends on the speed also.
What have you decided to do for a rotation, or are you just doing your classes and winging the rest right now?

I was reading a post on the OD and ended up seeing an article about weight loss while lifting. It was stating the differences between cardio/weight workouts and heavy weights. It may have caused me to rethink my rotation and do a KB with a heavy Total Body and a leg day or a the 2 KB's & leg one week with 2 TB's and a leg the next, then alternating. Have a couple days to think on that one until I start up next week. I do like the FF GRFSummer rotation though. My stomach has flattened a bit already with the adjustments I made. Today is supposed to be Low Max which is a killer after a LB workout like B & G, but I am also thinking I want to run. Perhaps I'll do both ? ? ? That will be a great excuse not to clean the house, right?

Jen - Glad to hear the stitch is recovering. You gonna attempt a workout or stick with the walking this weekend? I think the hills on the TM are a great workout - my HRM shows just as much of a burn doing that as it does running at 6 mph. And then I feel it in the glutes & calves the next day - a winner in my book ! :p

Am happy to report that DBoss decided I needed a coaching session so I can attempt this facilitation between my conflicting/back stabbing coworkers. Perhaps his coaching sessions along with my honesty the other day has turned something around a bit? Not wanting to count on it, but am keeping my fingers crossed. You just may have sent some great vibes to him the other day with your post ! ;) Thanks ! :p

Lori - you being a working girl this weekend or do you get to have some fun? How is DS doing ? Do ya get to hang at home and veg or you got plans?

Laura - not sure if you'll be popping in yet or not, but do share on how you handled your flight woes . . . And of course, how much "cha ching" you took from Vegas last week !

Well ladies, it's toodles for me right now as I head off to clean up the kitchen. Nothing but household chores and gardening on tap for me this weekend. Need to attack my "guest room" (DS2 did not leave it in great shape - I know just what Diana just went through) and DS1 and family look like they will be staying here next weekend. Gives me just the motivation I need !

BBL to check to see "What's Up" with the rest of you . . .

Hello there!

I have good news and bad news....

The GOOD news is that I just finished Jillian's NMTZ and it was AWESOME! My muscles are fried (upper more so then lower but I will likely work lower again tmrw now!) and I was dripping with sweat early on and it never stopped! :D I wore my pedometer and it counted 1003 steps for the work out. Considering what Jacque was just saying, perhaps I will follow her lead and not wear it for weight work outs from now on but since I did I figured I'd report the results! :)

The BAD news is that I will NOT be attending Centergy class this morning. It's a rushed trip to the gym after a tough work out that I just don't feel like making. :( Maybe I'll do some yoga/stretching on my own later but the class is (once again) going to have to wait...*shrugs*

Jacque: Yes, I went to SA again and this one is called the Accusplit Eagle. They had 2 versions. I bought the simpler one that just counts steps. The other, more expensive version counted calories and I *think* it did distance covered as well. This one doesn't seem to be quite as sensitive to other motions as the other one was. It also has a cover on it so that it won't accidentally reset itself the like other one did. I figure the stairs will give me extra steps with an extra added "oomph" to burn some extra cals. Anything I can do to burn more cals is good! ;) I wouldn't care but I DO spend A LOT of time sitting on my arse during the course of the day so I could stand to use the extra help. :)

So now that I am not going to class I will probably grab some food, shower up and get my arse to the food store before my family starves to death! :p

I think the sun is actually shining here too so maybe some DS pool time is an order later on as well! :D

That's all for now.

Hi Ladies,

Well were still a bunch of sicko's at my house. I didn't sleep very well since I couldn't breath. My head is to heavy right now to even consider a cardio w/o. However, I do think I could manage a weight w/o or even a KB w/o. Decisions...decisions. I'm in dire need of more KB's though, only having a 20# is really difficult on some of the overhead movements. I'll have to see if they are on sale anywhere. I have a $50 giftcard for Dick's, that should ease the pocket book a bit.

Wendy-What's NMTZ and BLBC. BLBC must be biggest losers boot camp. I picked up Jillian's 30 day shred at the grocery store no less but haven't even taken the wrapper off yet. Glad your new ped is working. I did have the problem of mine resetting back to 0 if my seatbelt rested on the button.

Jacque-Right now I'm just playing by ear but am considering following 2 of FF rotations. One is endurance and the other is circuit, my thought is to do one week from one rotation and then a week from the other rotation. I still have one more week of tri-training and will be attending the outdoor bootcamp classes.

I need to work on CLEANMAX and LAUNDRYMAX today.

Well back to report that I did Low Max but only 1-4. My legs just wouldn't lift themselves off the ground any longer. I like the fact that when I do LM after a leg workout I can feel that I worked the day before, but I am thinking that I usually do my leg work at night and LM in the AM and I just don't have enough strength left in them to get through the whole workout any more. Perhaps LM should be done 2 days after a leg workout?

We'll see if I have any energy later in the day for some additional cardio.

Diana - sorry you are still feeling yucky. I am not one to workout at all when I feel bad, I'm such a wimp in that way. Kudos to you if you get something accomplished in your state. Maybe you'll get a chance for a nap later on to get some of your energy replenished?

Off to do something productive . . .

Diana:: I am surprised you picked up 30 Day Shred as it's endurance based. It's nothing like SS or Jari though! ;):D:p Sorry you are still under the weather. I will push through a cold as much as possible too. You are right, cardio is tough but a weight work out should be doable. NMTZ is Jillian's No More Trouble Zones work out. Awesome! Yes, BLBC is Biggest Loser Boot Camp. I intend to give it a shot in the next few days! :D

Jacque:: Oh sure...a personal to Diana but none for me, huh? Okay, I see how it's gonna be now. :p :D:D:D:D:D Those LM blasts are killer on the legs. I can see why you'd have a tough time the day after an intense leg work out!

Soooo....in 8 hours I've logged 4459 steps. Somehow I don't see myself reaching 10,000 lest I walk up and down those stairs A LOT more in the next several hours! :p

Oh, a positive reason to go food shopping! I logged about 1000 steps in the food store alone! That's as much as my work out! Pretty cool, ey? :D

Okay, that's enough for now...BBL!

Well I went out and got my cranberry juice (which means I have to go to the next town) at Trader Joe's.

But didn't do the rest of my shopping . . .

WENDY ! ! ! Wanna go shopping for me so you can do another 1,000 steps before the day ends ! :p;):cool::):D:rolleyes:

I would have never made it the other day without a run/walk on the TM for an hour. That was about half my steps. Yesterday I was just about where you are now when I got home from work and before I worked out. I figured that 5,000 + a workout will just about do it for me.

So what type of workout is NMTZ ? Spot training or just overall killer ?

Sorry for "ignoring" you last time I popped in . . .

Promise never to do it again . . . ;)

Hey Gals!

Late check in for me tonight:confused: I was here earlier...read yesterdays thread and then everything went sideways as usual! Its to bad I couldn't get up BEFORE the baby, have my coffee and then check in....oh...that would be soooo nice and relaxing!

I went for another run today, without the stroller:D which means, no stroller, no baby:D:D WHen we were out for a run we saw a couple drive by with a baby sitting in someones arms:mad: Just a few feet ahead of that was a cop giving someone a ticket so we ever so nicely told on them! I hope she caught them b/c if they were in an accident that baby would have been the first one out the window.:(

O.k..am I the only one without a perdometer?? Aren't they made for cars?;) hehe! I wonder how many steps I make on my 15 k run????

Wendy** Sounds like you got it all figured out..hehe:) How many trips did you make up and down the stairs!? I would like to have one of those just to see how many trips I make up and down the stairs to get pampers in the run of a day! Sounds like you had a good workout. Weight workout rarely makes me sweat, I do usually sweat when doing legs though.

Jacque** I am off this weekend! I didn't do much last night but I need to round up my nickels cause I am off to play ramolli in a little while:) DH is caught up in silly hockey so I will hang with the girls! Im not expecting to win any money though.

Diana** Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Did I read some where that you were getting to see your GD's soon? As that already passed or are you still looking forward to it!? They are so cute when they are young and grow up so fast! I hope you are feeling better tomorrow!

Thats it for me..Im outta here. Hopefully i will get to check in tomorrow. I am going for my run early in the day and then DD as her dance show from 2-4!

Lori:)

Lori - Oh that is right ! ! ! Stanley cup tonight ! ! ! Glad you get to go have some fun while some of us . . . ;) watch "silly hockey".

I am sure you ran loads of step on a 15K - I hit about 5K with only 5 miles on the TM the other night. (But I run much slower than you so I would have more steps ! Ha ! :p)

Glad you have the weekend off - Enjoy it. Hope to see you in the AM tomorrow.:D

Hey there, girls!!

You're all chatty for a Saturday! Sorry I've missed most of it  I was off having some fun though. My GFs and I went to see the musical Chicago at a local theater, and then grabbed dinner afterward. The show was awesome and dinner was very good, too.

No workout for me to report today. I didn't wear my GWF either :( That's probably just as well though, because I've been pretty much sitting on my butt all afternoon. I think I'd rather not know

Wendy: I did hit 10k yesterday! In fact, I hit 13.5k :D But I'll tell you, if I didn't work out in the morning and walk at lunch, I would have virtually NO activity during the day thanks to a desk job. And I like food waaaayy too much to not move all day. I look at the graphs on the GWF activity manager, and there's a spurt of energy in the morning when I work out, then there's hours of flatlining, then a big bump for the walk at lunch, then more flatlining. Ugh. Then some activity when I get home and pick up the house and make dinner, and then...you guessed it...flatlining. I sit on my butt way more than I'd like to admit. Glad to hear you're enjoying your new workouts! But no offense....I'm not reading it :p Just kidding...but I DO NOT need any more enabling, and you are making me curious! I am not gonna check them out, nope, no way, not happenin. ;)

Jacque: Glad to hear the boss is starting to pay attention. They can be so dense, sometimes. So it sounds like your pedometer registers a lot less steps than the GWF. You say it counted about 5k in 5 miles, but the GWF counts 5k in 2.5 miles. That's a huge difference. I think I'll actually count myself next time I'm on the tread and validate the GWF, cuz you got me wondering. LM is a tough workout, and after B&G, I wouldn't get past #4 either. Hell, I'm not sure I'd get past #1 these days :p I am feeling better, but still having issues unfortunately. I'm starting to think I'm not 100% healed yet. Either that, or my new bod isn't used to my new bod yet? I don't get it.

Diana: Sorry to hear you're all feeling like crap. My kids had a nasty flu like virus a couple weeks ago, so I know what you're going through. Kudos to you if you managed a workout. You're a better woman than I am in that condition. I don't want to do a thing when I feel miserable like that. Hope to hear you feel better very soon.

Lori: Pray tell, wth is ramolli? Hope you come home with buckets of nickels tonight ;)

DSO is on his way home from the casino as I type, with much lighter pockets I'm sure. Maybe he should learn to play ramolli instead :)

K, off to...sit on my butt some more :p No wonder I've got damage to control ;) Be back in the a.m.

Jen
