Hello ladies!! Hoping to revive the thread again. I had fully intended to do some pullups yesterday, but I barely got around to working out x( I will do Legs and Back on Wed and get in some chinups then. Will try to add in pullups later on in the week/weekend.

Joanne, I hope you are having a good vacation
Briee, are ya still with us??

Hi All!

On Sunday I did Legs & Back but only managed to do one chinup. I did up my attempts on chinups and wide-front pullups though. I'm still suffering from lack of sleep but I feel if I was back to normal my numbers would definitely be up.

Catherine - I did Kenpo+ on Friday and really liked it. It's shorter than the original Kenpo but I liked it better. It starts with a 6-7 min. yoga warmup, there's about 35 mins. of drills/combox and then about 3 mins. for stretch (which could have been longer. There are 3 combos which are each done twice with a cardio break mixed in between each combo. The workout flew by and had my HR rate up for almost the entire time. My HR got up to 152 and I burned 276 calories. I still have yet to do Intervals+, Total Body and Upper Body.

Joanne - Hope you're enjoying your vacation and that you found a pull-up bar somewhere.

Briee - Hi! I look forward to meeting you.

Marcy

Marcy, I really liked KenpoX+ too. I agree there could be a longer stretch at the end. I did 1/2 of Interval X the other day and liked it real well. I guess the only one I haven't done is Upper Body. It looks tough though. I really liked the total body one.

Today was a rest day for me. I am planning Legs & Back tomorrow.

Hey ladies!! Tonight I did 4DS legs premix. I can not believe that I hadn't done this before today. I did like it for a change of pace. I did chinups in small sets 4,5,4,4,4,4,3,3,& 4 for a total of 35. I really just need to focus and get my numbers back up and stop this mental block that I have.

Hope you all are doing well!!

Hello Chinsters,

I got back from Maui late last night. I had a wonderful time. First time I went to Hawaii. Loved it. I didn't find a chin up bar but I did do one today. I was very happy that I could still do one and almost a second one. I went running every other day and it was so beautiful. I am sooo ready for Spring.

I am so tired, I have to get to bed, back to work tomorrow-YUK!

Joanne

Hello Chinsters,

Today was Chest & Back. Did two chinups in a row and got up to bar level on wide front pullups and close grip overhand pullups.

Joanne - Welcome back! Glad you can still do a chinup. I am definitely ready for spring. I hate winter with a passion. I still haven't gotten to Hawaii yet (hubby won't fly - get sick; but maybe one day I can convince him).

Catherine - I'm very impressed with your 35 chinups/pullups. So how many rounds of the X have you done? Have you continued non-stop with your chinups after your rotations were over? Looks like we're the same age. I'll be 43 in April.

Marcy

Hello chinsters!!

Joanne, Maui is so beautiful!! Glad you had fun and found time to do a chin up :D

Marcy, great job on your chins and pulls!! Not to shabby for an almost 43 year old ;) I've done 2.5 rounds of the X. On my last round which was about 1.5 years ago I hurt my back (not sure how). I've continued to do chinups/pullups (mostly on leg days) once or twice a week. Lately, though it's only been once a week. I feel like I could get my numbers (in one set) back up there if I do them more frequently. But alas, life is getting in the way amongst other things!! Oh and I still add in the X workouts here and there too.

I am super excited over the blog updates and rehersals for STS!!!!

Love the title of this thread!!

Sorry for the break there guys, you know how life goes!

Joanne...I'm sincerely jealous, Maui. One can only dream.

Marcy...who are you???? Tell me all about yourself..I'm going to have to go back and see if there is more info on you. Actually all I need to know is that you want to do chin ups right (ha-ha). One thing you need to know is that if Soosan was here (and she still is in spirit)...she wouldn't speak to you. Because you can do a chin up. (must seek earlier threads to figure that one out). Anyways, welcome and nice to meet you!!

Catherine...I just saw that you emailed and I will reply...you are so sweet!! Glad you are enjoying your workouts and doing so well. So can you give me your opinion on the new P90X workouts - especially the weight ones?

You guys who are complaining about winter, must take up a "winter" sport. I'm getting so into snowboarding now....I even ordered my new checks with "snowboarders" on them. :7 (am I geeky or what). My dh is in Pennsylvania with the kids and they have already hit two hills and we're going again this Friday and Saturday when they get back. Fun fun fun.

Workouts???? I was doing awesome the first 12 days of the year - doing two workouts a day on most days and then got a headcold and fell off the boat again. But I did PH two days ago, rollerbladed yesterday (indoor rink) and I'm going down to do P90X shoulders and arms right now!!! So that's enough yapping.

Thanks for keeping this thread goin Catherine!!

Briee

BRIEE!!! I was getting worried about ya!! Snowboarder on your checks huh :7 Glad you found something new to keep you busy during the cold.

The P90X+ series is different from P90X as far as weight work goes. IMO, It's more a functional fitness w/o doing higher reps with lighter weights. Actually, come to think of it, I haven't done the upper body one yet. I watched it, but haven't done it. The total body reminds me of CS sort of. But has combos of squats, pushups and chinups. You do three body wt squats, three pushup, three chinups and repeat. I really liked that round. But it was hard. The ab work looks great. You know how I am about doing ab work ;) I will try it eventually.

How are your kids?? I hope the family is ok!!

ETA: Oh forgot to say that X+ is really lacking in the weighted leg work. Suprise

And THUS comes the reason for Cathes beautiful looking legs and Tony??........x( ha ha:p :p :p

Almost forgot to say thanks so much for the review. I can't WAIT for Cathe's STS. I'm rejoicing. I've been so out of it, I didn't even know that the presale was available. I'm ordering tomorrow!!

Briee

Hello chinsters!

This morning I did Abs/Core+ and Interval X+. I love these workouts! The hanging moves are great in Abs/Core +. I really feel my core working. I burned 160 calories with this one alone. Burned 271 calories with Interval X+ which also kicked my butt. I didn't like the pushups in this workout though, especially after doing Chest & Back yesterday.

Catherine - Thanks! Hopefully I'll get to 3 chinups by the end of Phase 3. I don't feel almost 43! I guess that study is true - that your cells are about 10 years younger if you exercise. I do feel more like 32. I'm getting more excited about STS too but not about the price! I'm about to move soon and the budget's a little tight. You must try the ab work! Congrats on your 100# squats!:)

Briee - Nice to meet you too. Yes, I love chinning but I'll give you a little background on me. As you can see, I'm 42. I have two grown children - last one finally left the nest. I do miss them but it's nice having the house to myself and DH. I've been working out with Cathe since October of 2005 and haven't stopped working out since. I found her doing Rhythmic Step on Fit TV and ever since them I've been hooked. I'm on my second round of the X. I just got the X+ workouts and so far love all the ones I've done. I still have to do Upper Body and Total Body. I love heavy lifting for upper body (hate endurance workouts) but only do non-weighted or light weight leg workouts. Cathe's leg workouts make me bulk. I can lift the 50# weight over my head; I just don't like what it does to my legs. I prefer ballet, barre-type workouts which do much better things for my legs. I love yoga and have been doing it ever since I did my first round of the X from last March till June. I did it when I was younger and fell in love with it all over again. I am very flexible (used to want to be a dancer and can still do splits). I hate winter. I have asthma and that just makes it act up and my skin gets really dry and I tend to have intense itching spells which keep me up at night. I love ice skating though. Snowboarding sounds like fun.

Sorry for rambling.

Marcy

Catherine..MAN GIRL...YOU ARE JUST INCREDIBLE - 100# squats. I don't know if I can do these anymore since my knee has been so bad - argh!! AND YOU got your squat rack...you must have a wonderful dh who loves and cares about you very much!!! I love your doggie picture too.

Marcy...I like you....you can stay:7 :7 :7 ;) ;) . I can't imagine having kids "grown", how neat and peaceful. We have 6 kids and beyond that we have a lot in common - workout wise. I'm 42 also, but my bday is coming too fast (in april) - but I don't think I'll turn 43 this year..I've decided to turn 38 I think. I'll let ya know when it's closer. I'm flexible too, can do splits - but as for my love for yoga..hmmmmm. I do love it now, but have had a few moments in the past when I didn't really care for it. (was that an understatement Catherine and Joanne????). I love heavy weights, but have had a really off year - been working out for about 5 now on a regular basis. Congratulations on all your progress. I used to dread winter, but this winter has been downright FUN.

Joanne...are you adjusting to cold life again?? Running in Maui!!! Just the thought is heavenly!.

Briee

Briee - Thanks for letting me stay.:p My bday is also in April. I can't imagine having 6 kids. The first thing my DS said when he came back for the first time was "Wow, the house is really clean!" My DH is always getting on my case though about the weights being out all the time. I work out in my living room and it's a pain having to take them back and forth out of the closet. I will be moving soon and the one requirement I have is that I get my own workout room. It will be nice to have everything in one spot. He also gets on me about my DVD collection. Once I started working out, it's kind of become an obsession. I have over 150 DVDs and I still have things on my wish list. Everytime I think I have enough, something new comes out. I've resorted to getting my DVDs delivered at work at least until we move. He also says I drive him nuts about eating ever since I started exercising regularly. I eat 5x a day and I go nuts if I can't eat on time.

Marcy

Briee, you crack me up :7

Marcy, I saw that study about cells looking 10 years younger on exercisers. That's good motivation isn't it!!!

I did KenpoX+ this evening. For some reason I am burned out on step. So I've been doing non-step cardio. Probably good to change it up anyway!!

Joanne, how's your chinup bar doing?? I am sure it was lonely while you were gone to Maui :+

>I saw that study about cells looking 10 years younger on exercisers. That's good motivation isn't it!!!

I can see it now: Supermarkets install special machines at the end of isles where you scratch your skin and they magnify the cells up on a screen and everyone stands around and says "Wow look at those beautiful cells, nice cells, rounded firm....must be doing some incredible chins for cells that nice eh?" And we proudly walk off with our beautiful cells.

Okay...I'm kidding, I'm just giddy with excitement as I just placed my preorder. Beautiful cells here I come....

Briee

Good morning Chinsters!

Today was Shoulders & Arms. Missed the last set of the bonus round, running late as usual. Last time I did this workout I was sick and I'm still getting over my cold now. I haven't progressed with this workout as much as I would have liked to. Static arm curls finally feel a little better. That one always kills me.

Catherine - So how do you like KenpoX+? It is a good thing to change things up. I can't believe I went without step for three months last round since step is my favorite but kickboxing takes a close second. Saw all your pictures - I'm so jealous you got to go on the Road Trip; I'm hoping to go on the next one. Your doggies are adorable!

Briee - You crack me up too! I look forward to more of your posts! I guess you have to have a good sense of humor with six kids!

Hi Joanne!

Marcy

Wooooo hoooo for Briee's preorder!!!! I got your email and haven't had time to respond yet.

Marcy, I like KenpoX+ a bit better than KenpoX. There are a few moves that I am still trying to master. I think it's a claw, hammer lunge with a front kick. You do that from side to side. And I always want to tilt over :+

I swear I am gonna tackle the new ab routine this weekend :D
I am planning on L&B tonight. But who knows by the end of the day what I might plan on doing ;)
