::::CHEETAHS - Wednesday::::

Good morning lovely cheetahs! I'm having an unusually slow night at work. I have to attend a class afterwards, hopefully I can stay awake! So no time to work out today but I'm way overdue for a rest anyway, so it works out!:)

Amy, you are wise to rest that leg another day. I hope your work day goes smoothly for you.

Wendy- So how did the big session go last nite with your BF????
Inquiring minds want to know!:)

Jackie- I was unable to do the "Man Against Horse" race last year do to a groin pull injury so I'm really looking forward to it this year. It should provide some amusing pics anyway! You are very smart to choose to drive to Chicago. Air travel has been a MESS this year!
Hope you get in the runs you want before leaving.

Judy- How wonderful that you got to meet up with another forum member.
Having recently met some cheetahs here I can attest to how marvelous it is to finally meet face to face people you've been communicating with on line and realizing how much more wonderful they are in person!
Hope your upcoming trip to Boston isn't too taxing for you!

Carole- I'm glad you got to see your Doc yesterday and got a cortisone shot for your reaction. I should think the swelling today should be much better.

I think that catches me up from yesterday and I hope everyone has a fantastic day! Hi to all who follow!

Morning, cheetahs~ :) :) :)

I changed up the w/out plan last night. Lost power for several hours late in the afternoon and when it finally came back on, I decided to try Gin Miller’s Interval Step and save GSL & the run for this morning.

Amy :: Sorry to hear your ankle/leg is still bothering you…an extra day of rest might be a good precaution…have a good last day of work.

Gayle :: no, I think we need not be afraid of the Hooters Hotel…*lol*…but I would feel a little weird staying there…I'm trying to picture the typical clientele...*lol* But who cares, if the price is right!

Kristi :: does it look like we could reasonably walk to the Luxor or Mandalay from Hooters?

Shelly :: sorry about the poor night’s sleep ~ if I'm short on sleep, it can throw such a monkey wrench into my day…You will definitely see a pic or two of the wedding…thanks for the info on the Tuscany…I went to the site and checked room availability, and according to the message I received, it looks as if there is none for the dates I specified…Apparently, *everything* is booking quickly!...enjoy your rest day!

Elaine :: I still don’t know. I’m trying like heck to get the numbers to look nice. We’ll see.

Jackie :: really? *lol* I thought SOAP was supposed to be kind of campy...and SLJ had some great one-liners, I thought…The trigger finger, yes, is back in the holster…for now…The cruise is in early November…oh, I picked up some Greek yogurt yesterday…will try it today. Do you put honey in yours? Fresh fruit?…Chicago for a week with your sis and mom sounds nice…Have always wanted to go there but haven’t made it yet.

Wendy :: has your mom bowed out of the training altogether or just last night’s session?…How did the WU & CD go?…I always feel kind of self-conscious doing some of the WU/CD moves in workouts…Gin Miller’s CD last night had me bustin’ a gut.

Carole :: did the cortisone shot make a difference? How’s the itching? Nothing worse than wanting to claw out your own eye! Hope it’s better today.

Jess :: that’s a long time to be without DSL. I would go nuts.

Judy :: very cool that you were able to meet Nancy while in NYC…I don’t know her well but have appreciated her posts on the Open Forums…Seems like an intelligent and funny lady.

Have a great day! Will BBL.

Good morning Cathy! I hope you have a great run today! How did you like Gin Millers workout? It's been a LONG time since I did one of hers. Re: availability at the Tuscany Suites. That is very odd because I checked only yesterday and didn't get that message, but now I do. It makes me think that this is more of a computer site problem.
I'll check on it later.

Good Morning Cheetahs!:)

My first (unofficial) training session went so well! I am so happy! It was so much fun! I apparently did good in that I created a program that was challenging but still well with in the ability of my client/BF!:) It took more then hour but I had to show/teach her almost everything I wanted her to do so that took up more time. Once she learns how to perform all of the exercises w/o demostration first it will go faster and should fit nicely into the hour time-slot....And no, I did not charge her overtime!:p :7 I was promised to get an email, text or call today letting me or more likely cursing me out ;) if she is sore today!:+

So I went and visited her (BF) with Joey last week at her office. She works with 2 gals that have seen me around for years and she told me that after I left there neither of them could stop talking about how great I look!:+ She said the one girl was telling everyone she knew who was familiar w/who I am how great I look and the OTHER girl now is thinking about joining Nina and training with me soon! WOO HOO!;) ***doing happy dance!!!***

Okay, enough about me....:7

Judy: Oh wow, how fun! You got to meet Nancy! Sounds like you had a fantastic weekend! I remember when my sister was in college. She went to school out in Pittsburgh so my mom used to have to drive out there in my grandfather's van 2x per year to bring her there and bring her home. That was a looong drive!

Amy: The schedule you are keeping is KILLER girl! What will you do when summer is over and the kids go back to school? Do you teach in a school system as well?

Shelly: I hope you managed to stay awake during the class!

Cathy: So you like Intense Moves alot? Is it done on a step or on the floor? My mom bowed out basically for good unless I ask her to do it as a favor to me. Her whole motivation to do this apparently was to give me practice. She doesn't enjoy weights, blah blah blah. She bought a treadmill to be able to walk at her doc's rec and said that she doesn't mind but that's it. Since I am training Nina and we were having trouble getting them "together" to do this, she decided to opt out. She may, however, walk with my BF an evening or 2 per week so that my BF can get her exercise in when she's not training with me and so my mom can get a change from the TM.

Well, I have to work this morning and then it's home to torture myself with Muscle Endurance!}(

BBL!

Shelly :: I thought the Simply Intervals workout was a good intermediate w/out with basic choreography and lots of modification possibilities to make it more or less intense. It is one I will pull out on those medium days when I want a decent sweat but am not up to an all-out Cathe workout. Next time I'll wear my HRM to get a gauge of the calorie burn...True, that could be a website glitch, but I did see airfares disappear within 24 hours, so it wouldn't surprise me if they are booked out as well.

Wendy :: WOO-HOO!! Doesn't that feel great to hear others appreciate your hard work? It's certainly good for business, eh? That's AWESOME! Word is already spreading...I did like the workout - it's called Simply Intervals: Short and Sweet, and that it is. I think it was just under 45 minutes. I followed the mods to make it more intense and I did get in a good sweat, but I would reserve it for those days when I'm not up to Cathe intensity. Even though it is billed as an advanced workout, it would be good for beginners and intermediates.

Ya know, I woke up with a headache again today (not a migraine, though, thankfully) that I can't seem to shake. Frustrating. I think I will push my workout to the afternoon. I'm sure it will pass. And instead of doing GSL TS#1, I will do the whole thing followed by my run. Humidity is low, so that'll be fine.

Good Morning All!

Today will be a mish mosh between KPC/KM and CK and PUB – I’m going to TRY to finish it, but if I remember correctly, it’s pretty long. We’ll see. Just felt like some kick boxing today! Jimmy’s class went really well last night. Nice to have an excellent trainer. Jimmy got tired towards the end and kept looking at me like, “You want me to do what? It’s going to take more than that dog treat!” But for the most part he did really well. He learns so quickly.

Amy – Oh ouch! I hope your leg feels better soon!!!

Shelly – Enjoy your rest day, sorry it’s a forced one due to a meeting! I absolutely understand about the “Man Against Horse” race. In fact Sparkpeople is giving date flexibility, including the weekend before and the weekend after – so we can do that, too, if you want to join with that race! I cannot wait to see how you do! Ever since that article about how the human body is actually designed to run distances better than any other creature.

Cathy – enjoy your run! Oh weird about the hotel rooms! Would not seem to be a popular weekend, but I guess with the race and all…

Wendy – YEAH! Glad your client/BF enjoyed the workout session! Great planning job! Nothing like word of mouth (and an excellent physique!) to get you recommendations! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! Way to go!!

Hello to all who follow!! It’s been busy at work – so I cannot always get back on line for more than a quick hello!

Morning!:) I've finally got 3 relatively good nights sleep under my belt and am feeling practically human:D. A flurry of visits and calls from family and friends has lifted my spirits tremendously. It's gotten too warm already for me to run outside so I think I'll do LowMax and some of my 'favourite' exercises from B&G.

Amy, sorry to hear that you are still tender from your fall. Wise to let the body do what it needs to do before you push it.

Shelly, good luck staying awake. Are you a coffee drinker? I know it's hard for some of us Cheetahs to actually rest but try to enjoy it:)

Wendy, you are having a very good week. So nice to get positive feedback. I got an e-mail from a cousin I saw on the weekend, we hadn't seen each other in 8 years. He couldn't believe how 'YOUNG' I look. He thought I looked younger than my cousins who are 5 years younger. We love hearing that!!!:7

Cathy, things were okay with my FIL. He didn't stay long as there were lots of people in the house and he's not big on sharing the spotlight. God bless him......

I got a massage last night, that's my 3rd in a month! Last night's was part of an interview. The spa owners did the oral part and they let me decide based upon the therapists hands whether they would hire him or not. It was a good massage....

Chat later ladies!

Take Care
Laurie

Good morning Cheetahs! This week is not going very well workout-wise. Today will have to be another rest day. I have to take my lunch at the very end of the day so I can leave work early to go to visitation. My office manager's mom passed away and today is the visitation from 6-8. I will need to drive an hour one way to be able to go. Anyway, I will need to leave work early to pick the kids up and start making dinner so it will be easier on DH while I am gone.

Wendy - I'm glad to hear that your session went so well! :)

Cathy - We could easily walk to either the Luxor or Mandalay Bay from Hooters. It is only a few blocks away. Here is a website with a map. Hooters is #38 on the map near the very bottom right. You will see that Mandalay Bay and Luxor is on the bottom left. http://www.vegas.com/lounge/map.html

Carole - How's the eye?

I'll try to BBL. Waves to all Cheetahs!

Hey, guys! Quickie for me.

First, Wendy...that's fantastic about your BF and the ladies in the office! Keeping my fingers crossed that your clientele grows!

OK....this morning's workout is done. PLB and then iTread 21 (walking intervals, 37 minutes). I actually liked this iTread. I wasn't sure I would, but added onto a tough leg workout like today, it's fantastic!

Sorry to hit and run. I have a lot to do before we leave on our camping trip Friday!

Gayle

Good morning cheetahs

Amy...take care of the leg.

Shelly...yes, the swelling is much better, I don't resemble a prize fighter after a boxing match anymore!

Wendy...I think it'd be only normal to be a bit nervous about your 1st training session, sounds like it went well. I wonder if she will be sore?? When you find out how to get the bigger house and $2500.00 cash let me know!! Well you know we all think you look great Wendy...and I knew you' d make a promising PT...way to go!! Enjoy your ME workout today.

Cathy..sorry about the headache. I hope it goes away before your run. I do believe the shot helped. The itching is not as bad either. It is a bit puffy when I wake up but it feels so much better and it should continue this way...I sure would like to avoid Dr's visits for awhile, I feel I have had enough...:)

Laurie..glad your sleeping better! Enjoy Lowmax and some B&G exercises. Also glad to hear things are better with your FIL. So will the massage therapist get hired?

Kristi...after the cortisone shot my eye is doing much better. I will have to check out the map of hotels...thanks for posting that. That is sad about your managers Mom's passing...you have a busy day ahead...a rest day is for sure in order.

Christine...enjoy your Kickboxing workout today. That is great Jimmy is doing well at class!!

Gayle...good workout today. This will be a popular weekend for camping.

Judy...thanks, the shot helped a lot and the swelling is much better. How nice you got to meet up with Nancy! She has always seemed like a very nice lady and I bet meeting her was great! That is good your DD21 is liking her tiny appt and sounds like you had a great time. Wow...5.5 mile drive back and forth for your DS to Boston....makes me feel tired. Good job on the run and golf.

I am doing Amy's upper body APX workout, LIC abs and a 4-5 mile run the Chi way! I also hope to avoid any more darn bugs!!!

Have a great day...:)

Good morning everyone!

Judy - Glad you had a fun time in NY and got to meet with a fellow Catheite.

Amy - Have a good day at work. Good idea to rest that leg.

Shelly - Did you stay awake in class? Enjoy your rest day. Please post pictures of the mule race. I look forward to seeing them.

Wendy - I'm so glad your first session went well. If your friend is sore, we'll know you did a great job! Hope she's a walking ad for you. You are already one! More clients would be fantastic!

Cathy - Sorry for the headache. Hope it's gone soon. I've been buying the plain Greek yogurt. I add protein powder, banana and Bear Naked granola to it. I was adding a little splenda but have gotten use to not using it especially since I'm getting some added sweets from the other ingredients. Hope you like it.

Christine - Enjoy your mish mosh. Glad Jimmy did well with class.

Laurie - Glad you got some good quality sleep in. How nice that you will have a say so in hiring a new therapist.

Kristi - Sounds like you have a full day. Sorry to hear about the co-worker's mom.

Gayle - Glad you liked iTread #21. It's lots of fun.

Carole - Glad to hear the swelling is better. You can see again! :) Have a good run!

I did a 4 mile tempo run using iTread #21 intervals. Instead of taking the speed down for recovery, I gradually increased my speed. I did do the last interval with Grace. I really like this one. Finished up with Stretch Max #3.

I got news yesterday that I've been approved for a loan for a new house. I'm so excited. Didn't want to say anything until I was sure I got it.

Enjoy your day!

Jackie

G'morning Cheetahs!! Double day for me, I biked 13 miles w/ my buddies & then did S & A. I'll have to fit in ARX later, that's an easy one to fit in! Got the girls off to school & have been cleaning! How do things get messy so fast? Oh yeah.. 3 kids and a messy dh!! :p

Allison wants to ride her bike so we'll take Mikey (the dog) for a walk & enjoy the outside before it gets too hot!

So far I'm down 2 pounds on my 2nd round of P90X and feeling leaner! I'm really giving it my all this round!

Have a great Wednesday!

Wendy :: I forgot to answer your question about the Gin workout…yes, it uses a step.

Christine :: wow, that does sound like a helluva mish-mosh…Glad to hear Jimmy is excelling in doggy school. I know zero about dogs, so I have a probably highly ignorant-sounding question for you: when might a dog outgrow crying/barking while in an outdoor pen?

Laurie :: glad you’ve gotten some consecutive nights of sleep and that things are looking up again. Hate to see you in a slump!…I chuckled at your use of quotes when referring to “favorite” B&G exercises…Terrific compliment from your cousin! Makes all this butt-bustin’ that we do so worthwhile…Now THAT sounds like a dream job ~ Massage Therapist Interviewer. Sign me up!

Kristi :: that’s kind of you to drive so far for the visitation…Sometimes I think a little extra rest (more than we want to give ourselves) can be good…Thanks for the map link…That looks like a manageable distance…I noticed when out there that judging the distance between the casinos was not easy…somehow it’s misleading on the mind’s eye…For example, we walked from the Monte Carlo to the Hard Rock…it didn’t *seem* that far, but then it took *forever* to get there. We opted for a cab on the way back.

Carole :: I’m glad the shot helped…was there any theory about what kind of bug it was?…I am with you ~ I have been to the doctor *a lot* this year, it seems like…Saw the chiro this morning and she’s referring me for a brain MRI on account of the headaches & double vision…luckily, I don’t have to go into the enclosed box for this…it’s an upright machine. I still have a lingering headache and sinus pressure, but I’m sure I will be fine by the afternoon. Regardless, I am getting my workout in!

Jackie :: Congrats on the loan approval!!! Wonderful news! OK, thanks for the tips on the yogurt. I don’t have granola, but I will add some flaxseed, protein, and some kind of fruit. I wonder how it would be with Cool Whip. I sometimes mix regular yogurt with a tablespoon or two of light Cool Whip and a little bit of flax when I want to “juice up” my yogurt a little.

Hi Gayle and Jess. :)

OK, time to get back to the lesson planning…TTFN.

Hi Cheetahs!

I am about to do ME but I wanted to pick brains again if y'all don't mind!

My original goal was to train and run/walk the Philadelphia HM on November 18. Training for this race gives me 15 weeks to train. Now there is a race that is ALOT CLOSER and ALOT CHEAPER happening on October 21st. My training schedule has my mileage building every other weekend with a long run. The alternate runs are shorter distances of 2.5-5 miles. If I cut out those shorter runs and work on building mileage every week instead of every OTHER week then in theory I can run my final long training run 2 weeks prior to the race and still have the following weekend for a short run just like the training plan that I am following has it. This would be 12 weeks of training as opposed to 15 for the Phila run.

What do you ladies think? Does training for this October half sound feasable for me?? I'd like to think so but I want honest opinnions!:)

Thanks!

BB after my work out!}(

Wendy, I think you can train safely in 12 weeks; the 15-week plan is a fairly conservative one. I just wouldn't edge beyond the good ol' 10% rule.

BTW, does anybody think things are getting way dramatic on the OD forums lately?

Oh my gosh, Cathy! I wasn't thinking! Do you think you might want to run the Phila half before I go and change plans on you!? Please forgive me for being such a bone-head!

And YES...things are DEFINATELY getting a bit nuts over in O/D. I am staying out of it this time!:p

ETA: The 10% rule for training is that you shouldn't increase your total mileage for week by more then 10% correct? So it doesn't matter how you split it up so long as it's no more then 10% more then the prior week?

Wendy :: Oh no, by all means, do the Oct. half ~ it's totally cool! (Did I just say "totally cool"? Sounds like something Malibu Barbie would say, huh.) :p I'm preparing to be PLENTY busy this fall - so I may follow the training program, but I'll be happy just to enjoy my running as a stress release and not have the pressure of a longer distance race. Yes on the mileage. So if you ran 10 miles this week, next week you should not go beyond 11. You could split it up any way you wanted, but since an HM is your goal, you might want to add it to your weekly long run. Thus, if you ran 3x at distances of 3, 3, and 4 miles, then the next week you might want to go with 3, 3, and (no more than) 5. The week after you might go for 3, 3, and (no more than) 6. If it it were me, depending on how I felt, I might opt to increase by up to 10% every OTHER week. Ten percent would be your weekly MAX. As long as you build up to a long run of 10-11 miles, you will be fine, IMO. Of course, I have only trained for and run one HM, so perhaps the other, more experienced cheetahs will chime in with their wisdom! :)

LV GTGers :: After exhausting all the possible flight/hotel combinations, I have decided that I need to forgo this particular cheetah GTG based on the cost factor, I'm sorry to say. :( BUT there will be other GTGs, I'm sure, and I look forward to meeting more of you!!!! :) :) :) I do like the Chicago idea, which has been mentioned again. Can we consider spring/summer '08?

I just finished GS Legs in its entirety ~ have not done that one as produced in quite awhile and had forgotten what a good burn it is! In about 20 minutes, I'm going to hit the pavement.

Okay Cathy...As long as you are sure about the race, that's cool. As far as the training goes...the original training plan I am following for the Phila Half has been increasing long run every OTHER week. I COULD still do that but then my LONGEST run prior to the race would be 11 miles. Do you really think that's okay? I know it's not recommended to run the full 26.2 miles while training for a marathon because it's so tough on your body. I guess the same can hold true for a half and what's a couple more miles once you've gone 11, right? ;)
