Morning Girls!

I have another run on tap for today as well as GS Legs standing work. Depending on how long I want my cardio to be today, I may split it up between the TM and the elliptical to give the knees a break....

I have to get the oil changed in my car and hit the grocery store as well. It's gonna be a busy morning. I'd like to accomplish all of this before DS goes down for his nap.

Right now I am washing clothes....Does it ever end?...We already know the answer to THAT question as a woman's work is NEVER done! Right ladies? ;)

Good morning cheetahs,

This morning's workout was gs legs. I am going to follow the december rotation with of course my own tweaks. I just finished reading an amazing book called the metabolism advantage by john berardi. excellent read filled with excellent information.

wendy- you answered your question right on, NO. it is absolutely not. i wonder why that is. this morning dh was talking to our baby and says "jaden, why doesn't mommy get you dressed in the morning"....um, because mommy cooks dinner, gets our other son dressed, ready and fed, exercises, cleans the kitchen all while daddy is still sleeping.....ARGHHH.

Elaine- go elaine go!!!! many, many congratulations and high praises!!

ok, i am calming down now...huge inhale/exhale:D .

ladies please forgive me if i don't do alot of personals at this time. this is an extremely busy time for me and my internet time is severely limited.

Sunny, No worries about the personals! No one here is going to hunt you down for not doing lots of personals. The holidays are a busy time. Do what you have to do. The Cheetahs will wait for you. :)

Hey Ladies -

Today is some step (SJP Step and the Step Blast combo) followed by B&G Abs and GS C&T. That should keep me busy for a bit.

Wendy - a busy day! Wow! Enjoy your run! And you're so right! I never seem to be able to sit down for more than 2 minutes before remembering something else I have to do. This while DH stands in the garage and watches football all afternoon.

Sunny - We know you're thinking of us, so no worries! Seems like a GS day! Enjoy your day. Amazing how busy we get this time of the year.

Good morning cheetahs

Wendy...I have lots of laundry and housework today! I can get more done when my DH goes to work! No, it never seems to end...have fun with GS legs.

Sunny...sounds like a good book! GS legs is popular today!

Christine...sounds like a tough workout. I can relate to running around doing stuff here while my DH mindlessly watches TV!

Laura...when this pic was taken I had just finished my 2nd P90X rotation.

Christine...yes trail running downhill is tough on the bod. Sounds like your decorating is coming along well.

Susan and Becky...the combo of Chiropractic and Physical Therapy is what helped my sciatic. Running was the worst for me as I couldn't do it! You do have to back off exercise a bit to let this heal.

I hope Elaine gets a chance to post and share her marathon experience!

I am doing GS chest, back and shoulders, and then this afternoon abs and an Elliptical workout.

Have a great day..:)

Good morning cheetahs! Let me tell you about the marathon I ran yesterday. I decided that this one would be for fun only and that's just how I approached it! I started out with the 4:30 pace group to warm up at a nice slow pace then pulled ahead as I settled into my zone. Somewhere between miles 5 and 6 I had to use the bathroom so stopped to stand in a porta potty line. Thank goodness I didn't care about my finishing time or I would have been stressing about having to wait my turn. I think going into the porta potty screwed up my Garmin because the darned thing was off from there on out. It lost the sattelites several times so I have no idea what my splits look like. Once I got to 20 miles I did a little walking off and on, chatting with other walkers. I really did not want to feel beat up after I was done and not being consumed with running was fun as I got to take in everything going on around me! By the time I got to 23 miles I was ready to be finished though and ran it in as fast as I could. So today I feel great! Much like I do after a decent 20 mile training run. I think I'm going to cut back on running for a few weeks, keeping my weekend long run and finally concentrating on my new DVDs. All in all it was a fun time and I am so glad I did not push it. The course was a good one and I might consider taking it seriously in the future. So that's my report. I'm going to go catch up with you all and will be back to post personals in a bit!

Oops! Forgot to mention my time. Clock time was 4:27 and change, Chip time 4:25 and change! :7 :7 :7

Sounds like you had a great time Elaine! Running a marathon and not caring about time is a good experience. Sorry about the Garmin. CIM can be a fast course, I know alot of people that took it serious and got great times..so maybe in the future...:)...Congrats!....and enjoy a nice easy day...:)

Good Morning Cheetahs! Well, I have BM2 on tap today. I can't decide if I want to do weights or just cardio today. I need to get back on a rotation that way I won't be so wishy washy on what w/out to do.
Have a good day all!

Wendy enjoy your run! Speaking of laundry.... I just folded and put away a load. I don't mind washing. I just don't like folding!

SunnyD, Hope you enjoyed gslegs. I wanted to do that rotation but I don't have the GS series. Wonder what I could sub? Hmmm...

Christine, Sounds like a good w/out for you! Have a good day!

Carole, I guess everyone had laundry to do today! Enjoy your w/out

Alrighty then! I try to check in later, when I can say hi to more peeps!

HI Cheetahs-
Happy Monday here:) I'm gearing up for clean max and wrap max too! Then it will be plan dinner without going to the grocery store and drive Sammy to hockey before dinner, drive Nina to swim, and so on....

Any way I got in a 5.6 chilled run. (24 degrees again) OK, northern runners, is it normal to go slower in the cold? I felt very s-l-o-w this morning. I didn't feel cold after the first mile. I did do BM2 cardio blast (62") at 8:00pm last night. Maybe that is why I ran slow... Only 12 hours bewteen workouts...

Elaine- I admire your nice calm attitude while running that marathon yesterday!

LD- have fun with BM2; the premixesare very useful to me with running.

Carole- Thank you for the advice to stick with the new videos until '07. I am doing just that.

Christine- nice challenging WO...again!!

Sunny- I hope the stretching helps your sciatica. I can not sit for long either, and when I have meetings, I need to get up after an hour or less. Car rides are the worst, and having son who plays hockey all over the NY, Ontario and New England doesn't help . (DH & I are his biggest fans!!!)

Hi Wendy- Hopefully you will be back during nap time to catch up. How is your knee today? I will think of you while doing domestic chores.

Today while feeling rather slow on my run I thought of all the Cheetahs by name and tried to draw mental strength from all of you. Thank you!

Judy "Likes2bfit"

Good morning Cheetahs! I've had a busy last few days! Slept in this morning and feeling recharged now! I participated in my first Jingle Bell 5k on Saturday. That was alot of fun! I relaxed and ran it pretty easy. My time was 28:30, not too shabby I guess. Anyway, it was a slow crowd and I was the 6th female to finish but two of those ahead of me were also old ladies so I was 3rd in my division. There are lots of fast old women here! It was also a challenging course. Prescott, Az is all hills so most of the races here are a tad grueling! Anyway, DH and I went down to Phoenix after that and took in a HUGE gun show and did some other shopping. We treated ourselves to a stay overnight at a motel. I got in a good stairmaster workout in their fitness center.

Today will be the Drillmax cardioblast premix and some work on the elliptical. I'll be back for personals!

Hi again....back for personals!

Susan- I read your post from yesterday. I'm quite concerned that you haven't consulted an orthopedist yet. If you're still struggling that much with your sciatica an MRI is definitely worth considering. It could be a herniated disc your dealing with and the treatment options for this would be quite different. Please consider it....okay:) ?

Wendy- Congratulations on going 6 miles yesterday! I count 5.75 as being close enough!!!;-) I see a 10k in the near future for you!!

SunnyD. Thanks for the book recommendation. I'll check that one out. Hope you have a great time with GS legs! I'm still too fascinated with B&G to get back to other leg workouts yet!

Christine- I'm glad your 911 scare turned out to be harmless! (Scary) That's quite a challenging step mish mosh workout for you today!!!

Carole- That was a beautiful pic of your run route yesterday- Could you tell this computer dummy how you insert your pics here?
So today you are supposedly "off" from work? Sounds like you have much more work to do when your at home!

Elaine- Congratulations on your marathon run! A stunning performance as always!!!!! That was great that you felt so good.
You are truly awesome

LD- Have a great time with BM2 today! I did this one yesterday after coming back home..... it really wiped me out!!

Judy- Hey, nothing wrong with a slow run.... I specialize in that lately ;-) I frequently think about the wonderful cheetahs here whan I run and especially when I race. The gals here are all such wonderful inspiration!

Okay, time for me to catch up on cleaning and laundry myself! That seems to be the theme for today! Happy Monday!

Good morning ladies,
Well, I have my little Mariah Muffin home with me today. She is my 4 year old and she has a cold with a bad cough, so we are hanging out today. I really don't mind because she is a lot of fun. She loves being with mommy.

My sciatica is a little better today, but I have decided it is time to stop all impact. I am going to do the elliptical 2 -3 times this week and a long walk...sigh. I probably have not really given the sciatica enough time to heal. I probably exaserbated it by doing too much. I am going to find a physical therapist and see what they say about working out and what I should be doing and what I should not be doing. It is the perfect time of year anyway to shorten the workouts. I am feeling a little droopy about it, but it is actually a time that I can work on clean eating and becoming little more balanced with all of the areas in my life. Okay, enough reflection I will get to some personals.

Wendy, I hear ya when it comes to the never ending chores we women have. I have a pile of laundry waiting for me and a pile of dishes. But, I know that I am exremely lucky to be able to stay home with my kids and be an at home mom. I guess all the chores just comes with part of the deal. HAve a great workout and take care of those knees.

Sunnydelite, The December rotations looks really good, very doable. Have fun with it! Don't worry about doing the personals all the time. We all know that we are all really busy.

Christine, Wow, that is a very thorough workout-a little bit of everything. Wasn't it a great weekend, beautiful sunny weather. I hope it stays this way.

Carole, I think you are definitley right about the physical therapy along with the chiropractor. Do you know if they have to do an MRI or do they just start without all the xrays and stuff. The ironic thing is that I feel so much better after a hard workout. But, I think I was fooling myself thinking that it was okay to do so much. It is a learning experience for me. Somebody just needs to kick me in the rear sometimes:)

Elaine, how fun for you. It is great that you took the opportunity to just enjoy a nice long workout and not beat yourself up. Great Job! have a great deserved rest day.

Runnergirl, I wish I could follow a rotation more. I tend to do my own thing. But, sometimes it would be nice to just have it all written out for you. I usually right down what I am going to do for the week on Sunday night. But, I hardly ever stick to what I wrote. Enjoy your workout whatever you decide to do.

Judy, I would definitley be running slower in the cold. Your body also may have been tired from doing back to back cardios.

Hello to all that follow. Have a great day and great workouts!

Cheers!

Susan

Shelly,
Great job on your 5k. I used to live on the stairmaster years ago. It was always a fun workout.

Yes, you are right I do need to do something. I need some guidance right now as what I should be doing and what I should not be doing. I really thought I could just fix this one on my own. I will definitley be making some calls today. I am not sure if I call my regular doctor and have her set up an MRI or if I go to a physical therapist. What would an orthopedist do? I am not familiar with them.

Susan

Hey Cheetahs – the mish mosh was fun! Had planned to do Cardio Fusion, but got to missing some of the older step, so I did that. My legs are fried from yesterday, so it was tough! Ended up messing up the DVD (I hit “next”) during B&G abs, so I only did about 7 minutes, but figured with all the push ups, I didn’t need no stinking planks… :p I’m feeling pleasantly fried in the chest. I’m going with a five day split for December. Tomorrow is B&G and GS Triceps.

Elaine – CONGRATS!!! Great attitude! I’d be thrilled with that time, but I’m not speedy cheetah like you are! You are definitely an inspiration!

Carole – yeah, I can feel my little adventure yesterday still, but I have to admit, I was running full out the last ½ a mile – it’s a fast single track and a blast to tear down. I also have not been running as much, but hey, it was so worth the aches today!! Enjoy your day off! Sounds like you have a great workout planned!

LD – EXACTLY – I’ve been able to talk myself out of workouts because I did not have a set rotation. That’s why I put one together for December! Try the BM2 Scrambled Eggs if you want to be fried – it’s fun…

Judy – WrapMax? I need to start ShoppingMax! I think I have one thing for each girl! That’s it! Wow a 5.6 mile run after BM2 cardio? Are you vying for the Super Cheetah prize? :+ Great job!

Susan – sounds like a good plan, although giving up all impact has to be a bummer for a cheetah. We’ll be there for you! Yes, it was a wonderful weekend! Yesterday was absolutely perfect! I hope it stays this way, too. And I’m with Shelly – get this checked out. I think a lot depends on your insurance – do you need to go to your doctor to get a referral? I don’t, so I’d go to a specialist immediately, but if you do, start that way (or call your doctor to see who she recommends).

Jinglin’ Shelly – glad to hear you had such a blast this weekend! 6th place for women? Not bad at all!! Will we get photos?

Judy--definitely the cold weather makes you slow down! (from the Michigan Cheetah where it's 21 degrees this a.m.). good for you for being out there running at all!!!!!!
I warm up extra indoors on the cold days before heading out and also make sure your hands and feet and top of head stay VERY warm. Also, I have a pair of Montrail shoes for running in cold weather because my Asics have mesh sections that are great for summer/fall/spring but too frosty in winter.

Hi Cheetahs!!
I am still here, but am trying to catch up at home after my DH was out of town for 5 days...he's back, happy to have him home, but a rough go being solo parent for 5 days and then a weekend of swim meets and the mistake of signing up to volunteer during the meet as well.

On a humorous note -- as part of being a "hospitality room" volunteer I had to cook 300 slices of bacon at home to bring in before dropping off one of my kids at 7 a.m. Let's just say, that cut into my workout Sat. am. :(

The irony of being one of the Vegan Cheetahs cooking 300 slices of bacon and 100 pieces of Jimmy Dean sausage, just seemed too funny...LOL........................but I will not sign up again for this particular job because I didn't not feel focused and in-sync with my kids in a way that bugged me because I was preoccupied with the mammoth task of frying bacon....(not a LOL, but live and learn..)

Congrats to Shelly & Elaine. You ladies rock -- and so do the rest of you Cheetahs.
Hope to be back sometime in the next week!
-Barb

:) :)

Hi Susan! For now I would go to your regular doc and ask if he or she feels you need to be referred to a specialist. Spinal issues are frequently dealt with by orthpedists (bone docs) or by neurologists. In any case, your regular doc can certainly order an MRI and if it shows a problem, then you can go to a specialist. Glad you are following up on this! Keep us informed:)

With much care and Concern!

Hey Christine--- I was figuring I'd post an amusing pic from this last race.... I really do look totally ridiculous:p if I can figure out how to do it on this #@$%^@!$^* computer!!!

ShellyC

G'afternoon Cheetahs!! I'm finally checking in! Busy morning w/ appointments & errands to run as usual! And Wendy- it NEVER ends. There's *always* something to be done. And then once you're done, it's time to do it all over again! (like laundry, dishes, picking up toys, etc)

Anyway, went to PT. It was an evaluation & the PT said I'm coming along great! Had u/s done again & can have up to 6 more treatments if I'd like to (but I also need to check on insurance to see if they'll pay for more). My stretching is soooo much easier & the foam roller has helped tremendously.

Then I went to the dentist. Let's just say that I'm not happy w/ my new crown & will call the dentist to see what can be done about it.

Then Allison & I had to run a couple errands & made it home to get her down for a nap. No msg from Lowe's yet so I hope they will be here soon w/ my new washer & dryer!!!! I need to get started on this mound of laundry-eek!!! I can't handle it much longer. Wendy, I don't really *enjoy* laundry, but I hate having a lot to be done!! I prefer to do a load or 2 at a time instead of 5 in a row!!

Oh yeah, I did IMAX 2 this morning. I just wanted a fun workout so that's what I grabbed. I think I'll stick w/ the GS workouts for a bit too, I just love them. I do need to get some heavier dumbbells though! I'm trying to get my dh interested in P90X. I think he'd enjoy it (he's already very strong but would like to be more *cut*). Any input?? I know a lot of you have done P90X. What size dumbbells do you need for it? I have a barbell w/ plenty of weights so that is taken care of.

Then when Greg gets home I have some boxes to mail. I have a package ready for my brother in Iraq w/ all kinds of goodies & special pictures the girls made him. I know he'll love it.

OK, better get moving. I want to get started wrapping presents!!

Elaine ~ You did so great!!! I love hearing your report, you make running a marathon sound like a piece of cake!! (I know otherwise!!) Great time for *taking it easy*!!! I'm glad that you're feeling great too. Do make sure to let your body recover a bit before you hit the new workouts hard!! Any pics to share???
