Mornin', cheetahs!

Today will be an afternoon run for me and hopefully one of the GS DVDs or possibly L&G. Not sure which one yet.

Have a great Monday! Gonna go get caught up with yesterday's posts.
Cathy :)

Laura :: I don’t know if you mentioned these already, but I really like the speed skaters and hammer punches. Also love any k'boxing drills.

Carole :: that’s good that John met someone in a similar situation who is successful (and probably even better that they met on their own). Thanks for keeping us updated with his ongoing progress. Hope you’re feeling better today.

Jess :: I agree w/ Judy…it might be time to consult a doc. My feeling is any time you have specific pain like that for more than a week, it’s not a bad idea to get it checked out. Good luck!!

Laurie :: sorry, too, that your ankle is still bugging you. I agree…it is worth it to have that looked at. In a way, I'm always sorry to see the end of summer, too, but there *IS* something about the cool, crisp air of fall and the changing colors that I just love.

Judy :: Hope you enjoyed your rest day yesterday.

Jennifer :: great deal on the yoga classes! Glad you enjoyed it yesterday and it did you good.

Christine :: sounds like a great party! My friends and I went out to watch the Eagles game yesterday and we wound up meeting some really fun people. I love when that happens. Sorry the chili didn’t sit well, though!

Susan :: The countdown is on for Mr. YP, huh? I don’t have any of his DVDs, but he seems to have a huge fan base around here. :) Very exciting, I’m sure, to take any instructor’s live class!! You’ll have to geek out and bring your camera, so I can see what this YP is all about!

OK, off to get ready for work!

seeking guns thanks for thesuggestions. speed skaters are one of the peoples favorite things because you feel it the next day right in the butt.

jess I would go to your doctor. Is it your It band? I didnt get to read yesterdays posts. I had this and I iced it got and IT band strap and of course I had access to a light therapy machine and Interferential unit. but when you ice, freeze some water into a styrofoam cup and ice it that way for about 3-5minutes. directly where the pain is. my pain was mostly at the lateral side of the knee. some discomfort at the hip where it begins at but mostly at attachment site. if you have some icy hot you can use that to. and lots and lots of stretches. this will help tremendously.

hope this helps!

Good Morning all -

Wow! Woke up around midnight with a KILLER headache! I never even felt this one coming! I took some Advil and drank a whole bottle of water and after about half an hour, felt better and could go back to sleep. I think my tummy problems earlier caused me to be dehydrated - otherwise mere Advil would never have helped headache like that! So, I'm up later than I would be. I'm planning on doing Chest from S&H C&B. I'll do back tomorrow. Then I'll do half an hour of cardio - probably 10-10-10 from CTX.

Cathy - I'd love to go to a pro game - those are so fun! Sorry the Eagles lost - but it's still fun to be there! And yes, meeting new people like that is a blast.

Hi Laura and Judy and everyone who follows. Won't be on line much today - I start my job today...

Good morning!

Laura, maybe some explosive lunges and exposive plie squats? Those always get me! }(

Cathy - enjoy your afternoon run and GS! THat sounds good!

Judy - Have a good day with the run and Clean Max! That sounds like my exact day yesterday!

Carole and Christine - Hope your tummy woes are all better now! That is sure no fun!!

Susan - So the countdown is on! You lucky, lucky girl! I love his yoga DVD's! I am sure I would love a live class even BETTER!

Jess - I would probably see a doctor, since it has been quite a while and it is still bothering you so much.

Yesterday I ran 6.5 miles outside with a lot of hills! Not steep, mind you, but some good hills! :7 I also did something that I have never done before, so it was a great milestone for me! I ran in 32 degree weather!! Yay! I know you guys are probably so used to doing that - that you wouldn't give it a second thought. But I am just so excited! Who knows...maybe I CAN run outside in the winter on weekend! Okay - enough gushing. Sorry!

Hi to everyone and hope everyone has a great Monday!

Good mornng cheetahs

Cathy...enjoy your run and GS workout. Yes we have been waiting for the right time for John and Van to meet...so glad it happened on its own...:)

Judy...have fun on your 6 mile hilly run!

Christine....the new woodstove is so effective I could have been comfy walking around in a bikini!! My stomach feels better although now I feel like I'm getting a cold..:(...sorry about your headache. Enjoy your chest and cardio workout early today!! Have fun at your first day at work!!

Linda...stomach seems much beter today...:)...we have temps around 32 in the winter. It is quite impressive you ventured out and ran!! Good Job...

I am hoping to do a long run of about 10 miles today. Then S&H Chest, tri's and shoulders. I am feeling like a cold is coming so we will see how the workout goes!!

Have a good day...

Hi! I am new here and just wanted to say hi. I am a runner and thought maybe I could join in some of the conversations. I have taken a break from running because I have been struggling with PF. It is now much better and I started back running last week. Whew...It was a very slow 4 miles for me but I was just so happy to get back to running! Just wanted to say hi.
LD

Welcome Runnergirl!! I know one of the runners here Judy has had PF, maybe she can give you some tips. I am fortunate as that is one injury so far I have avoided...:)...I am glad your PF is better and don't worry about slow runs, taking it easy is a good thing...:)

Hey Ladies:) Had a good workout (had to keep it pretty low impact though) I mixed up some combos from PowerMax and StepFit and finished with abs. I'll see the PT on Thursday. I have the day off but have to get a bunch of paperwork done and figure out RRSP stuff for this year. Sometimes a hate being a grownup!x( :+

Cathy, I agree there is something refreshing about fall. I did a lot of pulling and cultivating seeds and enjoyed a Corona on the patio. Hope you have a good day at work and get that run in:)

Laura, I'm with you on speed skaters, I like them a lot.

Christine, good luck today, I'm excited for you but wish you were going in feeling more like yourself. Sounds like you've had a rough few days. Feel Better!!! :)

Linda, we love gushers!!! I haven't run in cold yet either but seeing as how my internal heater works so well I think I'll be well suited for it, once I get this danged ankle figured out! Great job on your cool run!

Carole, wood heat is the BEST! My Dad heated our house with wood when I was growing up (so cosy) and when my two older girls were babes we had a woodstove in our home. I got very adept at keeping it smouldering when we went out and re-stoking when we got back home. I kind of miss it, especially with what we pay for gas heat! Glad you're tummy troubles are gone, hopefully your can sweat your cold out with your run:)

Welcome RunnerGirl, nice to have you here! A few other Cheetahs have had to deal with PF so you're in good company:)

I'd better get on the paperwork and stuff, the sooner I start the sooner I finish!

Take Care
Laurie:)

Hey Ladies!

No time for personals right now but hopefully at naptime!;)

Had fun in a/c but it was a losing weekend.:-( I was holding my own until we went to another casino and from then on it was downhill. ACK!:p

I didn't end up running the boardwalk yesterday morning. I don't have proper clothing for COLD weather so it was too cold by the water to be running in the clothes I had so I had to skip it. Never got home until pretty late last night and I was beat so it ended up being a total unscheduled rest day. Not happy about that but I'll live, right?

I am thinking today will be Jari at nap time and a TM run early this evening at the gym. I'm not working today. I was considering the Power class this morning but I slept until 8:30 this morning  and then just didn't move fast enough to make it. LOL

I scanned the posts so far and wanted to say WELCOME TO RUNNERGIRL!!!:) Don't be shy, girl! Just jump right in! We are a friendly bunch!:+

Okay, hopefully I'll be back later!

Ciao!

good morning ladies,

oops, i must have posted my original post at the same time as cathy.

i will check back with personals later.
today's workout was 5.30 miles on the TM!!! woohooo!!!

christine- the walkathon was fun. it was to help cure diabetes. i never thought to even ask here is anyone was intereted in a contribution.

ttyl...:)

Plantar Fasciitis Management:

Here are the changes that really helped me to get the inflamation down and pain subsequently disappeared. These were changed I made under the care of a podiatrist in 1999.

1. Elongating your calves helps minimize the pulling on the plantar fascia and decrease the inflmation (read decrease pain here). So, strech your calves several times per day. I streched before getting out of bed, while brushing my teeth, and any time I could get away with it. Realistically 5-10 times per day!

2. Anti-inflamatory meds help too. I used naproxen (Aleve)

3.Completely stopping high impact cardio for 6 weeks. This was tough, but really allowed for the imflamation to subside. I rode a stationary bike for the 6 weeks.

4. I had prescription orthotics made. The can be expensive. I keep them in my workout sneakers 100% of the time. At first they need to be worn in gradually increasing time periods to get your feet used to them. Some people also recommend over the counter supports. Try a good running shoe store for help.(This was in 1999. In 2005-6 I began using an insert that I bought Online called PowerStep. You can google it. It helped me with out the expense ofgetting new custon orthotics.)

5. Never go bare foot. This position pulls more on the plantar fascia and contributes more to the inflamation and pain. In some cases the bone grows out from the plantar fascia making a bone growth (spur).

I have spurs on both heels, but no pain now. The spurs will not go away but keeping the inflamation in check eases the pain.

Icing the area helpls too.

Keep stretching, Keep stretching , Keep stretching!!!

If I feel the pain returning, I go back to the above and Ice and I will wear my running or workout shoes (with the power step inserts) all day to give my foot the necessary support to minimize the inflamation.

Christine - I am sorry about your headache! You are probably right about being dehydrated from your stomache problem. Glad the water and Advil helped. Take it easy!

Runnergirl - Welcome! Hope your PF continues to get better!

Wendy - Sorry about the "losing" day in AC! But, glad you had fun. Yes, you will live after having to miss a workout ;-) Just think....you may feel a lot stronger next workout because of the rest! That is one good way to look at it!

Sunny - Good job on the 5.3 run on the TM! Glad the walk-a-thon was fun!

Laurie - Good luck with the PT appointment! Good workout, too! Don't work too hard today on the paperwork!

Carole - Wow! Enjoy your 10 miler and S&H! I cannot wait until I am able to run 10 miles! That is great! :7

Linda

G'morning Cheetahs!! Another crazy morning around here!! I set my alarm for 5:45 to get up to work out, but I must have turned it off!! Sooo.... we woke up at 7:50!!! I got the girls up & to school by 8:25 so we were moving fast!! :p Then Allison & I ran to the store to pick up a few things, to the bank, and I got a coffee at McD's (I didn't want a caffeine w/drawal headache!!). Finally made it home to put things away, and now I'm starting to bake!! (I'm looking up a recipe online now!). I'm having a PartyLite party here tonight, my good friend is a consultant & I usually do a party for her in the fall. I love their stuff & can get some cute holiday stuff for cheap if I have a good party! ;-) So far I think about 10 of my friends are coming, we'll see how many make it. I'm making pumpkin bars w/ cream cheese frosting, apple crisp, a taco dip w/ tortilla chips, and some pinwheel sandwiches. I'd better get to work!! I got the house in order on Sat, just the usual vacuum & get the toys back in place (but I'll wait til later to do that or else I'll just have to do it again!).

I'm going to do the GS workouts this week, I think I'll start w/ C & T this afternoon. I'm still coughing a lot, darn cough doesn't want to go away! I guess I needed the rest, and I even took a nap y'day afternoon!

OK, have a great day Cheetahs & I'll check back later when I need a break!! :D

Thanks for the info on PF. I went to my primary doctor not too long ago and she suggested alot of the things that you did. The ibuprofen helps alot and somewhere in the archives someone? not sure who showed how to tape up your foot. That has helped me tremendously. I have an appt with a podiatrist but not until November 9th! I wanted to tell the lady " Do you know how far away that is?!! Anyway, the ibuprofen has helped so much. I didn't use any for awhile because I was afraid to take it so regularly but my doc assured me it was ok so now I am back! I took 3 weeks off from running and I am not going to overdo it now but it feels good now.

Jess, I LOOOVE Partylite's stuff! I was a consultant for about 6 months but I was working f/t on top of it and it was just too much work for me with not enough pay back. NOW would be the time for me to get back into something like that but I can't because I don't have enough free weekends/evenings to do parties. Have fun! :)

Runnergirl, Glad to hear that you are on the mend!

Everyone else, Sorry no time for more personals...I still need to get my weight work in! I'm stalling!:p I'll try to get back here afterwards! I may give David Kirsch another shot today for weight work. He has 2 15 mins work outs on the same dvd-one for upper and one for lower body. I may do them each and see how I like them. I may go through them twice each or add on something else if I don't feel I've done enough.

BBL!

Ciao!:*

hello to all the cheetahs:)

i hope everyone has a great monday (is there such a thing):D :D , LOL

Laurie...your workout sounds fun. Hope your PT can help thursday! I grew up with a fireplace, but living in L.A. you didn't really need alot of heat...when my DH and I moved up north we cold alot colder winters. I have a temp gauge in the house that shows outside and inside temps...and I am most comfy with my indoor temps about 72. This stove is very clean burning and effective!! I know I'll be warm this winter...:)..hope you can sift thru the paperwork....I didn't feel too bad in the run so maybe I did sweat something out!!

Wendy...sorry you didn't win big in AC!!! Don't worry about the rest day. I had one of those last week and it seems to have helped.

Linda...the 10 miler went well. S&H will be this afternon....:)

Jess..have fun with the GS workouts. I woke up coughing in the middle of the night last night...YUK!!! Don't feel too bad now...

Runnergirl...glad the ibuprofen hekps....it has always worked for my aches and pains...:)

Sunny...I am trying to run away from the cold...:)...I bet you will eventually work up to 10 miles, t did take me some time...:)

I survived the 10 miles. It was a bit chilly, but the house was nice and warm when I got home. S&H is slated for this afternoon....I like Mondays as I have the day off....:)
