Hey Ladies. :)

Cathy: OMG I am so sorry that they put your idea on hold! They did NOT shoot it down though, right? So there is still lots of hope to be had! Think positive girl!!!:) Sorry about the VS delivery going awry. That really stinks. x(

Angie: I personally wear Mizunos for running. I went to a running store in my old town (where my mom still lives). At the time I was having knee pain so I told the salesperson about it and he analyzed me and brought out shoes he thought would work for me. From there, it was up to me to choose and I was even allowed to go out on the street and jog a short distance in the shoes I thought I wanted before purchasing them. Good stores will also give you a period of time to try them out on your own and if you don't like them, you can return/exchange them. My shoes run about $80.00 but there are less expensive ones as well as ones that cost LOTS more! If you are considering purchasing a good pair of running sneakers you should go to a running store where they will analyze you and bring out shoes based on what your body requires. Don't just buy the prettiest shoe. LOL If you enjoy running and want to do it on a regular basis, buying a good shoe is definately worth the money. If you don't do alot of miles then you don't have to replace them too quickly. I don't do a ton of miles so I waited a year to buy a new pair. HTH!
So last night I was telling DH about the bootcamp class idea. He thought it was a good one but it's not the type of thing I would try to do right now. I'd like to get my feet wet first. Down the line though, it's a definate possibility if we can figure out how to make it work. }(

So last night was fun. DH and I met 2 other guys on the team at a great restaraunt for dinner before bowling. I had a totally delicious dinner and some CABS and then we headed to the alleys. More CABS were consumed and we had lots of laughs.
My friend seemed to be "himself" last night. He was socializing and laughing and cracking jokes. He was acting like the guy I've known for years. YEAY!:) I hope it's a trend that continues....

I have weight work on tap for today. I'm considering Barry's Boot Camp full body. }(

Morning, ladies! :)

Today is another day. And I will not be eating cornflakes. *lol* (Actually, I had a piece of Great Harvest carrot cake, breakfast of champions.)

I'll be doing PH this afternoon. I want to have a lazy morning and have some early doc appointments lined up, so rather than rush, I'll enjoy this flexibility in my schedule while I still have it.

Angie :: I'm so glad you're enjoying running! I would definitely not purchase a shoe based upon what anyone else is wearing, only because our feet and gait are so different. Do you have a running store anywhere near you? I have a Fleet Feet by me, and I just love them. They are extremely knowledgeable and will spend whatever time is necessary to find a good fit for you. They'll even ask you to give the shoes a test run. It's worth going to a running specialty shop, IMO...Thanks for the positive thoughts re: the school situation. I know it hasn't been SHOT DOWN exactly, but it is still disappointing (I wanted to kick off the year with it and worked really hard to be ready in time!) and frustrating. I'm afraid that schools anymore put the kibosh on things that could be good because of a fear of lawsuits. I understand it to a degree, but I'm frustrated by it...Also read about your friendship situation with interest. In my experience, when a friendship comes back from a rift that goes on for a good length of time, it is rarely the same. I completely agree with you that I do not "get" the couples who need to spend 24/7 together or call each other numerous times throughout the day. I am not judging them - some people need that and if both are happy that way, well, I say live and let live. But I could never be like that. I need my space. And frankly, I just think it's jerky when someone drops his/her friends altogether. Having less time is understandable. Having NO time is not.

Wendy:: so glad your friend was himself last night. Good news! ETA: we must've have been typing our posts at the same time - funny that we gave Angie the same advice basically and referred to my project not being "shot down." Guess we're on the same wavelength this morning. :) Funky Friday is the right title today b/c every time I go to post it takes a couple of minutes or the post disappears. DOH!

Hi Laura, Diana, and Nancy!!

Happy Friday!

Cathy: I definately agree. You should allow yourself to take advantage of your loose schedule while you still can. RELAX!:)

Angie: I too agree about the 24/7 thing. I don't know how couples do that either. I could never! To each his own though I guess.

Hi Ladies,

DS needs to borrow the car today so I will be stranded at work for awhile. I had planned on working from home but there a some things I need to take care of in the office. I'm heading to the basement for GS Shoulders & Biceps and a coremax segment.

Wendy-If you're ever interested in what we do at bootcamp, I can email some of the workouts. Just pm me with your email. Enjoy your BBC total body w/o. You know, I've never done that one in all this time.

Cathy-Have you thought about doing research on other schools (districts) that allow forums? Just a suggestion. I will ask my son how they use it at his high school. I'm going to check out the AUG 04 rotation:) Is it the one with all the walking lunges? We do so many walking lunges in bootcamp!

Angie-If you are planning on running on a regular basis, it is definately worth the money to be fitted by a professional. I have really bad feet and would not be able to run at all if I didn't have good shoes. I agree that they are a bit expensive, but they are worth it. Based on your mileage they should last quite a while.

BBL to see what everyone else is up to.

Diana

Morning funky Friday girls:)

I did S&H bi and tri's yesterday. My arms are a bit sore.x( I'm not sure again what I have on tap for today but I need to step away from the laptop and get some things done. I've been trying to catch up on my emails from vacation, and I still haven't gotten thru the pile of them.

Wendy - Glad to hear that you got your friend back!:) Maybe male PMS? Your bowling nights sound so fun. Thanks so much for your opinion regarding the shoes.;-) Unfortunately I don't have a specialty shoe store near me. We have Dunhams and MC sports which have a decent selection of shoes, but I don't think the salespeople are super knowledgeable. I know I will need a lot of heel support/cushion because I have right heel pain on a fairly regular basis. I guess I'm gonna need to make a mall trip downstate to a footlocker or someplace.

Cathy - I agree completely with what you said regarding the relationship thing. I gotta have my room. DH has worked 12-14 hour days since we've been together. The first few years I was in the Navy so it wasn't an issue because I wasn't home much. When I got out of the Navy I hated the long hours but now I'm just used to it. My view of things changed a lot when we became the owners of the company. Funny how that happens. At least now we see the $$$$ for the long hours.
We had an incident with a crazy mom at our school last year. This woman actually made a male teacher cry.}( They were using PDA's in the classroom and the kids were loving it. This woman doesn't let her kids on the internet, which, neither do I.....but she also doesn't let them watch TV, or go out with friends, or to anywhere where they might hear a bad word. Yup....one of those. I'm sure you've seen your share. I can only imagine how these kids rebel when they get older....but I digress. Anywho - she made a HUGE scene and made the school stop using the PDA's because, of coarse, they had dictionaries in them that listed the words damn and hell. Grrrrrrrrr! Her kids definitely wouldn't want to come over to my house. They would defintely get an education.....hate to admit it, but I am a bit of a potty mouth.

Diana - Yeah, I might put miles on in the summer since I like it more than I thought I would, but since I don't have a good TM, I wouldn't use them much in the winter. Maybe I should purchase a good TM. Hmmmmmm....something to put on my X-mas list. But, I wouldn't even know where to begin....people say that runners really need an expensive TM....the other ones won't hold up? Yikes - another huge purchase - they drive me nuts.

Hi Laura and Nancy! Happy Friday

Gotta go and get some things done - BBL

Angie

Morning Ladies!

Well I wanted a HARD workout ...I GOT ONE .. the KICK@$$ class KICKED MY @$$!!! LOL .. oh yeah .. the body is in total shock .. screaming .. "WTH??? .. wait a minute .. we are on vacation ... and your expecting me to do this" ... the pushups killed ..chest sore! The triceps dips killed . triceps sore! The ZILLION large step ups left me MORE than a little winded. The planks had me trembling so bad I looked like I had DT's ... yes ABS are screaming at me today! The only thing my body took well was the plyos ... GO FIGURE??

Had a long night afterward .. found a a very close friend of mine .. her cancer is back .. she has been out of work and all of us have been so worried .. she is a 20 year cancer survivor (had breast cancer and mastectomy) .. and now it is back .. she began behaving bizzarly at work .. forgetting things .. and making very strange comments .. then she does not show for 2 weeks ... now we hear this! SO SAD .. and I fear the worste .. I pray it has not gone to the brain .. but her behavior leaves me w/a very disturbing inclination to beleive the worse! ;( Pray for her!! She is flying out to Houston, TX to go to another specialist .. I pray she gets some good news! But she is really weak ... just makes me sick .. she is so full of life and someone you never see NOT laughing .. and when you are down she can make you laugh when you feel like crying .. so sad!!;(

Anyway .. I am still planning SIL surprise party .. even though our friend will be laying heavy on our minds! SIL mother had the same thing happen .. first breast cancer .. lived 15 years.. then brain cancer and had a horrible death . and SIL does NOT need to be reminded of this on her b-day! I am hoping we all can set it aside and have a great party (that is what our friend would want us to do anyway)

Angie - re: running shoes .. my pick is Asics .. especialy if you have heel issues .. I tend to run heavy on my heels and Asics have excellent padding but manage to keep the shoe extra light in weight! They make different shoes depending on if your pronate .. etc .. or not .. I LOVE the Gel Kinsei (very pricy but worth the money) .. also the Gel Kayano 13 .. less then the Kensei but still a bit up there .. but soooooo worth the $$$$ .. check out www.runningshoes.com .. they have good info and great customer service .. they can help you pick the right shoe for you!
oh .. OMT .. the "potty mouth" .. just ONE more thing we have in common! LOL:eek:

Wendy - so glad the friend was back to his old self .. yeah .. IA w/Cathe male PMS???

Cathe - ROTF at the cornflake comments .. boy do i have those days all the time .. seems sometimes you just can't catch a break!!

Diana - STRANDED AT WORK?? .. uummmmm .. one of my biggest nightmares!! LOL

OK girlies .. I am off to get last minute b-day stuff at lunch .. the only workout I will get is major CLEAN MAX .. and hopefully a good DH lovefest!! }(

tommorrow hoping to do CC press play b-4 getting ready for the party!

have a great one .. and workout for me today!

Hey Laura

So so so sorry to hear about your friend. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. I have seen countless people suffer b/c of cancer - it is such an unfair disease. Once someone has it, they and their families are ALWAYS wondering if it will return. This must be her worst nightmare come true. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for good news from the specialist. {{{hugs}}}

I'm sure the party will be a success. Maybe after a few CABs you can put the sad news on hold and have a good time.

Thanks for the tip on the shoes. I'll have to check out this site. All of the input you all have given me has been super helpful.

When I got back from vacation, my makeup was waiting for me.....that sure was quick....now to figure out how to put it on. *lol* I didn't order any brushes but already have a few new "cheap" ones. Hopefully the brushes won't make all that much difference.

Off to do a w/o.....now, which one??:D

Angie

Hey girls…

Diana :: yes, there are a lot of walking lunges in that rotation…No, I haven’t thought about looking elsewhere…I am really in what I would consider my “dream” school, and I know from talking to others, they have hit similar roadblocks when it comes to technology. The schools are just paranoid, and I’m not saying they don’t have good reason to be concerned, but I don’t think technology can ever be fool-proof, and I think we have to try to move forward with every possible safety precaution in place.

Angie :: Wow, that mom does sound extreme. What sucks is that the whole school gets punished because of one parent’s preferences. How about he uses something else then?…I have a relatively inexpensive TM – I rarely use it because I detest the treadmill. I don’t think you have to go with top of the line…I can’t wait to hear what you think of the makeup. I have heard that the brushes ARE important, but I am new to brush application, so I don’t know.

Laura :: I am so, so sorry to hear about your friend. ((((HUGS))) What devastating news. Let’s just hope it is not the worst-case scenario. When does she go to Houston?…I also swear by Asics…Mine are the Nimbus, also not cheap but they have held off my achilles problems so are well worth it.

Wendy :: so what w/out did you opt for? Or did I miss that somewhere?

Nance :: if you're around, we're thinking of ya. Hope things are lookin' up.

Can you ladies help me pick a rotation to follow until we get our new w/o's. I've been on a heavy wt rotation for 12 weeks. I'm thinking of doing alternating weeks of BBC and RTTC with some cardio thrown in. My biceps are still pretty weak but the rest is okay. I don't know if I should throw in another bicep workout each week or what. Any help would be great.

Laura-I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I lost a SIL to breast cancer several years ago, she was 39 with 3 children. It has been such a loss for my brother and his kids. I will pray for your friend. You finally got your kicka$$ class in

Wendy-I got your pm but the workouts are at home. You can expect them sometime this weekend. I will send a few. Each class is different but we do similar exercised like dips (off a curb or park bench), squats, lunges, walking lunges, lateral cross overs, pushups (all varieties, situps, sprinting etc. You will be a great teacher.

Cathy-I didn't mean for you to change schools, rather to investigate how other schools use the internet. I'll ask my son later and see what opportunities and limitations they have. If you don't mind me asking, what grade(s)/subjects do you teach?

TGIF

Diana

Diana :: OH! *lol* I have only spoken informally to friends in other districts. Good idea to delve into that further. Thanks! I teach 8th grade language arts. Re: the rotation, I think a BBC/RTTC rotation would be a nice break from heavy weights.

Thanks for all the well wishes for my friend. She leaves for Houston this Sunday ... her family is with her now .. the more I hear the worse it sounds ... she is a lot sicker than we knew .. and it just does not sound good at this point. But there is always prayer - hope - and faith that maybe there will be positive news from Houston ... we are all devestated and so saddened .. she is a very strong person so we are hoping she stays strong and we get better news next week! Keep those prayers coming for her!

I am still having the B-day party and determined to have everyone try to let go for a while and have a good time! Just picked up the cake it is TOO PRECIOUS .. got a picture of a blonde scuba diver swimming in the ocean .. with "Happy Birthday - Scuba Steph" on it .. it is TOO CUTE!! Got the food ... and friends are bringing the rest .. CABS on ice .. and now there is just the dreaded ..

SUPER CLEAN MAX to go!!!

We actually got rain today ... which we needed ... so I am hoping tomorrow the sun will shine and things will be much brighter!!!:)

OK .. about to get outta here .. got to clean off the desk .. and longing for that 5:00 bell to ring!!! come on 5;00!!!:7

have a great one .. :7
