BFL Monday 6/16

Good morning everyone!

PUB done! Even survived working out with DH. I'm sure I'll hear about how sore he is later. I maxed at 15# flies, which I feel pretty good about.

I plan on keeping the meals for the day clean. Plenty of leftovers, just need to decide what to take. It is so nice having school over and being able to focus a little more on me.

Hope you all have a hard, sweaty workout and a clean eating day!

Hi, Sherry! Great workout! What did DH think? Is this the first time he's done a Cathe workout??? I hope he sticks it out and finds her as motivating as we women do!

OK....warning: this post is long. I've got a lot to put out there for you all, and I just can't keep it short. Read it if you want, don't if you're not up to it! :) It's just an update on me and my life.

Here goes (I'm actually copying and pasting it since I am sending this to a few different email groups and check ins! LOL):

First, this morning's workout was Leaner Legs. I'm starting a mini 6-week challenge for myself to just focus on CONSISTANT clean eating and workouts. 6 weeks takes me/us to the RT.

I’ve been MIA since Friday, and I apologize. We’ve been super busy with quite a few things. Let me catch you up (humor me here)!

My internet was down from Sunday morning right until Monday morning, so I couldn’t get caught up yesterday at all!

Friday night was my friend’s mom’s viewing service. It was a beautiful service. Jacob went with us, so I was glad when I realized it there wasn’t a casket-viewing. Rather, she was cremated and they had the urn there on a mini altar with tons of pictures and things. She loved frogs, and the family had a table FILLED with hundreds of frogs and they encouraged everybody to take one to remember Kay. At the memorial service on Sunday, we learned that frog was not only her favorite animal and story (it all started with the Frog Prince story), but FROG is an acronym for Fully Rely On God. The message during the homily was just that…how Kay put her full faith in God and her ministry (she and her DH were/are Moravian minsters, as are one of their 4 DDs and 1 of their 2 DSIL). (got all that so far? lol). So I had a very emotional time between the 2 services. At one point, during one of the hymns, I broke down in tears. I can’t explain it well, but it was a part of a very touchy song when the congregation was singing the song with no organ or choir….the words and the sheer strength coming from the ‘crowd’, and memories of Kay, and memories of Jeff (DH) just flooded back to me and I broke down. The funny part came, though, when my best friend handed me a paper towel that was like 2 feet long! It was all any of us had in the way of tissues! LOL It broke the tension, to say the least.

Saturday night, SO and I had his DD and her cousin babysit my boys, and he and I went back to the casinos in The Poconos for a bit of adult fun. We hit a severe T-storm on the way there, and when we got there, they had partial power. The machines were about the only thing running! All the restaurants were closed, the a/c and venting systems were down, and the lights were all out in the bathrooms. It was hot and smoky! Since we planned on eating at the buffet there, we were bummed and STARVING! So we gambled a bit, then went back onto the road to get dinner at a steak house. When we got back to the casino at 10:30, they had shut the entire casino down because the power kept cycling on and off, and it was getting unsafe because the temp inside was too high! So we had an early night!

Sunday was busy. We started out at SO’s ex’s house for a cook-out. Then Jacob had a basketball game at 3pm, and a scrimmage game for his traveling all-star baseball team at 5:30pm! SHEESH! Think I’m done yet? Nope! We then went BACK to SO’s ex’s house for more swimming! lol I’m tired just re-typing the past few days’ events!

The kids only have today and Tuesday for half-days, then SCHOOL WILL BE OUT!!! YAHOO!!!!

Now, as the summer is pretty much here and school is out in just 2 days, I will give you the heads-up that I may be hit or miss from here on out. Our summer is just filled with relaxing stuff from start to finish. But this summer, as you know, I’ll be working that summer reading program at the school in July. The kids and I just wing it each day. Sometimes we spend the entire day at the public pool, some days at friends’ houses, sometimes just having a house full of kids at my home. We have season passes to the local water park and amusement park (with the big roller coasters all 3 of us LOVE), so there are many days that we spend every minute there. So…………..don’t worry about me if I’m not posting on a regular basis. Sometimes I just lurk the boards to get caught up, but don’t have (or take) time to post personally.

One last thing….my older DS (Jacob) is having problems with his shoulder. On his throwing arm. As in his PITCHING arm. UGH! I just made an appointment with our Primary Care Doc for a referral for an MRI/xray. I’m scared. I really am. He throws hard, and is the fastest pitcher in our league at our level….his speeds come in at 54 mph. He throws a LOT. You can always find him outside in our driveway throwing into the pitch-back. But now he’s hurting and I’m scared. I’m trying not to jump to conclusions, so we’ll start with his appt this afternoon and go from there. This is effecting his regular baseball team (which has 1 more game this week then the play-offs next week…we’re in 3rd place in the league) AND his all-star traveling team. We told those coaches last night before the scrimmage. It’s a tough call on the coach’s part too, because Jacob is one of the best hitters so you can’t afford to lose his batting, but the only position he can really play without having to throw all that much is 1st base….and that’s the head coach’s son’s spot (see coach’s dilemma? LOL).

ANYWAY….sorry to ramble about me. I just wanted to catch you all up on my goings-on.

Good Morning Everyone,

I'm back as well. It has been a very stressful 4 days. My FIL's funeral was Saturday morning. He just passed away on Thursday and my DH and family were running in circles trying to plan everything. My MIL insisted on Saturday instead of Monday (today). This barely gave relatives time to get in town. The church squeezed the funeral in between to two Catholic weddings. Let me just say that was bad planning. The family was thrown in the basement with all the guests b/c they didn;t want us hanging around the front of the church when the wedding ended. While we were waiting the wedding party from the next wedding showed up. WTH!!! It just seemed soooo rushed and the family couldn't even spend a few moments alone with the casket before it all started.

Anyway, I haven't worked out in 4 days and I'm feeling quite cranky and bloated. I'm also putting major pressure on myself to get in great shape b/c the road trip is just 6 weeks away. I know, just take it one day at a time, but it's hard to stay on track. My neighbors brought us more sweets and dunkin donuts that I have ever seen. Don't they know I can't eat that stuff while I'm "in training"??? (HAHA) They are kind to think of us and I just need to throw it all away.

I hope everyone enjoyed a nice Father's Day with their spouses. Ours was low key and we went to bed early.

Off to workout and I check in later

Okay ladies, now I don't feel so bad for being MIA for the past week or so. Looks like I wasn't the only one..;-)

I hope everyone is doing well and STAYING FOCUSED!!

Carolyn - sorry to hear that your FIL's funeral was so rushed and unorganized. On top of just the loss itself, that had to be very frustrating. I'm happy to see you back on the check-in though.

So, the reason I have been MIA is this: my office moved last week. However, we didn't find out until the moving company showed up at our new space with all our stuff that there is no occupancy permit. So, they cannot move any of our stuff in. They can set up our desks in our offices, but they cannot connect any pc's, faxes or phones. What a mess! So I've been kind of off-line since I would normally check-in at work. Today, the office is closed and I'm at home. My home computer must be infected or something because it's sooooo slooooow!!

Anywho, I've been getting my workouts in and eating as clean as possible..;-) Ice cream seems to be my biggest weakness this past week! Oh, and I saw some pics yesterday from our weekend up North and I was very pleased with every pic that had me in it! I used to cringe when I would see pics of myself so this was HUGE for me. It made me feel GREAT!!

Okay, have a great day!

Hey girls:)

Hello Sherry, Gayle, Carolyn and Melissa!
Hello to all that follow as well!!!

Again another busy weekend! No workout either!!! Darn!

We went out for dinner last night for Fathers Day at a Japan restaurant. It was loads of fun for the kids and adults alike. The cook was funny and entertaining while cooking right in front of us.

All in all it was a good relaxing weekend with friends and family.

Now I have to get myself back on track with something in the way of a workout....not sure were to begin at this point. I have been so out of it!

Carolyn: That must have been terrible and stressful for the whole family. Maybe the family can have a get together later on in the summer to catch up with one-another.

Sherry: You are right! My house is the Grand Central Station! I should just put up a motel sign! ;-)

Gayle: What a weekend for you too! I hope that your sons shoulder is ok. Maybe just tender from all the resent games.

Melissa: Getting organized after a company move is going to take a bit. Weird that the paperwork for the permit wasn't done before hand!!!
What a nice feeling to see yourself in photos and notice all your hardwork paying off!:)

Great job getting in your workouts and eating clean Everybody!!!

PUB sounds about right and a run...so on to my workout! BBL Heidi

ETA: Hi Amelia! It looks like we are doing the same type of workout! Have a good one! OH...Good luck in your interview!!! Confidence is the key to any good interview!:)

Morning!
Another MIA checking in, lol! I have had the weekend from you know where (but with some nice parts thrown in). Friday me and DH took a vacation day and rented a loader/backhoe to excavate the back yard. We were out there from 8:00 am until it was too dark to see outside (probably past 9:00 pm). We almost finished but ran a little short on time due to spending 3 hours trying to pull up this huge tree trunk! The loader was already rented for the next day so we’ll have to get it back next weekend to finish up. So guess what happened to me again….yup, more poison ivy but this time on my arms AND leg.

We were exhausted on Saturday but went out looking for some landscaping fabric to lay down before we lay the rock (you should see this huge pile of rock in my driveway!) When we got home the air conditioner was out. Ugh! We spent Saturday night sweating it out on the second floor, I felt more tired when I got up on Sunday than when I went to bed Saturday night. We were able to get a guy out to repair it yesterday evening but it cost an arm and a leg and we’re not sure the guy was on the up and up but what else could we do. It was so hot and humid in the house the dog was already getting sick, poor little guy.

Anyway, life is getting back to normal. Our son in law’s parents had us over yesterday afternoon for a BBQ and it was delicious! Grilled steaks, steamed clams, corn on the cob, and lots of fruit. Yummy!

As far as workouts go, I’m pretty much back on schedule. Friday was a rest day, then I did GS Chest + Bootcamp upper/lower body premix + HIIT on the elliptical + abs on Saturday. Sunday was a rest day (I was supposed to run 6 miles but could not bring myself to sweat more, lol!) Today I did GS Triceps + BC upper/lower body premix + ran 3 miles of hills (using CCV8) + BC abs and the medball ab segment of Core Blast. I plan on making up the missing 6 miles over the course of the week and gearing up for my 20 mile long run next weekend. I only have 3 more long runs left (alternated with 6 mile runs) before I taper for the 50k. Yahoo!

Sherry – You’ll have to let us know what your DH thought of PUB!

Gayle – Wow, what an emotional weekend you’ve had! I hope Jacobs appt. goes well today.

Carolyn – I’m so sorry the funeral was so rushed and hectic. I’m hoping your family is doing well.

Melissa – Yikes! Sounds like your whole office is in an upheaval! I hope they get the permits soon!

Amelia – Good luck with the internship interview!

Heidi – I LOVE Japanese Hibachi Grill restaurants!

Hi Kathy,

Sounds like you had a very busy weekend too!
As for rocks in the drive I have the same issue. These need to be transfered closer to the house for placement under the next section of deck needing to be installed.
Working in my gardens between Friday and Saturday I found more sneaky poison ivy! Thankgoodness I kept my gloves on this time! Darn that stuff! I hope you don't get it bad again. :-(

I just finished my upper body workout. My biceps were fried after the first pyramid cycle so I called it a day. I didn't do the abs either because my arms were shaking and I knew I would probably fall off the ball. ;-)
Tonight I will do my run...just too weak right now.

Nice job on your workouts! When is your 50K race coming up?

The restaurant was great! My first experience with this type.:)

Have a great day everyone! BBL Heidi

Heidi,
Great job on the workout!

Yup, poison ivy is horrible! I thought it was poison oak the last time and I was looking specifically for that last Friday. Well, after I started itching like crazy I looked up pictures on the internet and it's poison ivy that's creeping up all the trees in the back yard! DH got a couple of small red dots but that was about it. I must be super sensitive to it. :(

The rock is going to be tough to get to the back yard. We're going to put it under the shed and another color under the remaining trees (with paths for a couple of benches and a water fall type thing). I told DH I wanted a "Zen" garden to sit outside and read my magazines/newspapers and drink my coffee on the weekends. ;)

My 50k is August 10th (two weeks after the Cathe RT). It's about an hour and a half away from me in wooded park area. I'm actually looking forward to it!

Kathy

Hey girls, just popping in to report my workout, did PUB with the abb work on there then i did a thirty min run interval

Heidi how was your UB workout? Thanks for the advice!

ok,im sorry but ive got to go...my house is a mess:-(

Helloooooo strangers!!!

Thanks to a nice kick in the pants from Gayle -- which included a 6 week challenge -- I'm in!!

I've been up and down the past few months -- I see many of you have been too. A lot going on in everyone's lives. Hang in there gals! It is the workouts (plus the support here) that gets us through these rough patches in life!

Because I slept in this morning -- I had to squeeze in my PUB workout between getting home from work and a girl's night out. I have a babysitter coming over soon (as DH is out of town) -- it is amazing how easy it was going to be to blow off my workout today -- why do you challenge me with these things Gayle? (It is amazing when you put working out as a priority you can fit it in anywhere in your day!)

Just so you know -- even though I haven't been posting -- I have been lurking -- and you've all be in my thougths. My hope is to get some motivation from you gals for the next 6 weeks ... as well as contribute to the "motivation station". I am now ready -- how is it that it is NOW swimsuit season -- I was supposed to be ready for it this year!! EEEKKK!!!

I'm taking it one step at a time. My first - is to not drink wine tonight -- and my second is to NOT hit the snooze tomorrow.

Be chatting with all soon!
Michelle
