BFL for Fri May 30th 2008

5 weeks until July 4th – Are you ready to work hard and drop 5?!

I’m ready to go – woke up and did Kickbox to get me motivated, followed by BS Abs (hey, look at that, I even did abs!). After looking through some of the rotations, I’ve decided to stay with the basic BFL plan – alternating weights (Pyramids & GS’s) and cardio (DVD’s) in the a.m. and throwing in extra cardio in the evening with my runs. I downloaded a 10K plan from Runner’s World, so that should take me through the summer and get me ready for the fall marathon relay. I can’t run at 5 a.m. I can at 7, but not at 5 – I know it’s a psychological thing, but 5 just doesn’t work for me. Since the kids will be out of school in 2 weeks, evening runs will be no issue – has worked well for the past couple of summers.


Belinda – A very early post once again. So sorry you can’t sleep at night. I hope things settle down sometime soon! Great workout planned. I looked at that rotation you mentioned you are doing, and WOW! Maybe not for these first 4 weeks. More power to you sticking with it!

Gayle – You did it once, and can do it again. We’re all here with you. Half of that gain will be gone soon! As for legs, I’ll keep the heavy legwork away from the longer weekend runs. Thanks for the advice. Too bad about the trainer. Your are right, she probably wasn’t for you if she answers a question with “that would take to long to answer”. Not good if she wants to build a client base.

Amelia – I need a plan (rotation/schedule) to go by to keep me focused or I fall way off (like recently). Kind of like, if I need to make a decision early in the a.m (my workout time to be consistent)., sometimes it’s just easier to decide not at all. That’s just me. If what you are doing works for you, then stick with it. The other thing that works for me is that if I workout hard, then I tend to eat better because I don’t want to waste that hard work. So yes, it’s all in my head.

Connie – Yes, we’re all back on track together. I also like the way I feel when I’m eating better (that beef burger really did my digestive system in – enough said). I agree with Kathy, either weigh yourself at regular intervals if you are going to do it. Like her, I also find my weight cycles throughout the month. You’re back on the wagon doing Cathe workouts so you know your on the right track!

Kathy – Your runs are way longer and more intense than mine, so I think the combo of tapes and running should get my fat burning furnace working. I’ve been very good at writing in my food log this week. I need to log it in Sparkpeople to get the stats like you are posting. Fantastic focus!

Melissa – Late post – sounds like your day was about as hectic as mine usually are. I can say that I’ve been better about making sure I get in a “snack-size” meal this week. And I’ve started taking in hard-boiled egg-whites, inspired by one of your recent posts.


Off to get ready for work. We have a golf outing, but there's also a very good chance for thunderstorms - that will make this interesting! Then tonight is the elementary school carnival. Lots of chances for temptations, but I have a goal in mind! Good morning to everyone else! Have a good one!

Sherry-I'm going to wait till this weekend to see what Cathe posts for June's rotation. If I don't like it, I'm going to a classic BFL rotation also.

Workout for today is done! I did Muscle Max (minus the abs since I worked abs yesterday).

What are your weekend plans, ladies? Workouts, events, etc?

My weekend plans: tonight we have a baseball game (big surprise). Tomorrow we don't have anything, so I'm going to visit the mom of a dear friend of mine. The mom has been battling cancer for 10 YEARS! She had a hysterectomy the same day I gave birth to Jacob and she's been fighting all kinds of cancer-related things since. She's not doing well now, so I'm going to see her tomorrow. She wrote my DH a wonderful, touching note when he was first diagnosed, and I dug it out last night and I want to read it to her. Then tomorrow night, Dave and I are GOING AWAY! As in OVERNIGHT! His ex has offered to take my kids so he and I can get away. We're going up to the Poconos to hit the new casinos that just opened up up there. I'm not a gambler, so this will be interesting! LOL Then Sunday are try-outs for my older DS' summer travelling baseball team. He's SUPER excited about that.

As for weekend workouts, I believe tomorrow is CCPP (Cardio Coach Press Play) so I'll do that and abs. Sunday is going to be a rest, in anticipation of a brand new rotation for Monday.

I'm chatty today. Time to hit the shower then make pancakes and sausage for the kiddos for breakfast!

May i join in the 5weeks-5lbs challenge? Thats seems reachable to me!

Sunday is my WI,even though ive been weighing in everyday this week,LOL! But sunday is the one that counts;-). Im not understanding the scale,there really is no change? I started counting calories on monday. If the scale doesn't move by sunday then i will have to tweek my calorie intake, No fun taken away calories:-(

Boy my two year old has been a royal PITA this week,hes three so if you can imagine!

OH! And you guys, in the current issue of Clean Eating, page 92, there is an AWESOME article called Healing the Hungry Heart, and it talks about emotional eating and how to control it. I found it very VERY helpful!!!!!

Happy Birthday Melissa!!!! :7

Morning everyone,
This morning I ran 4 miles with two Yasso 800's after my warmup mile (6.6 mph for 4:33 - 5.0 mph for 3:00 - 6.6 mph for 4:33). My total time was 41:59 for a pace of 10:29). I used Cardio Coach #5 up through the 2nd challenge....I picked up at the last part of the first challenge when I finished my repeats and continued on.

Well, I had a change in food yesterday. I skipped the protein bar and cherries for meal #6 and had a half cup of ice cream in a cone instead. I also had 1/4 cup of Jasmine rice with my chicken stir fry for dinner. I updated Fitday and my calories were a little high but not too bad....total of 1736.

So then this morning I get up and decide to weigh myself. It's good, I'm down 2 lbs. since Tuesday. What do I do? Go to breakfast at IHOP with DH and think I'm doing okay with the Garden Scramble (eggbeaters with veggies) + two Harvest Nut & Grain pancakes. DOH! I put it into Fitday and the breakfast was 994 calories (when I added in they syrup and half & half for my coffee). LOL, guess the rest of the day will be VERY light! I'll put my Fitday totals in later. :eek:
