40 & over checkin - week of 12/14

I'm a little late getting us started. Are y'all out there? Anyone can start this thread in the future!

I did FF rotation that was GS Shoulder and Triceps. My body is ready for it's rest day tomorrow!

Had the office party this past weekend. The Chiropractors have a party for everyone that uses the office, ie. nutrionists (2), massage therapists (3 or 4), receptionists (3), life coach (1). My boss was sick so she didn't go but I had a nice time finally meeting everyone in the office since I don't really interact with them. The party was at one of the chiropractors house's and she served salmon, filet minon, and new york strip steaks! It was a pretty fun time and everyone made me feel totally comfortable. Chiros hugged me when I got there, hugged me when I left....I've never experienced this kind of warmth and kindness in the big blue company of the business world. It was a nice change of pace.

What's everyone else been up to?

Hello Lisa and everyone else

I'm having trouble finding time to check-in at the moment with so much going on!

Lisa - the party sounds lovely. How nice having an 'office' party at someone's house.

I had a really busy weekend as both DD and I were in a dance show. Saturday was a four hour dress rehearsal and then Sunday we did two performances. So that pretty much wiped out the whole weekend. It was great fun though!

Managed to fit in some yoga today. I'm trying to get all my work done for the end of the week then I can be off when DD finishes school. So there'll be some evenings at the computer this week to try and get things done. Yikes!

Quick check-in

Hi, all! I did Low Max today. I like that workout -- it's work without all of the jarring intensity. My joints thank me.

How is everybody coming with their holiday preparations? I'm so hopelessly behind that I may not catch up until next year! I don't know why I can't make myself get this stuff done. Just not motivated. Swamped at work and now DH is sick. :( That's always awful for everybody.

Lisa, that sounds like a very nice party! Better to attend than to host, I think. I never enjoy my own parties because I'm a nervous wreck trying to see that everything goes well. Speaking of parties, the Atlanta Cathe Fans are having a get-together this weekend, so I actually have something to attend! It's a nice group (the ones I've met so far, anyway), and I'm sure we'll have plenty to talk about!

Ronne, what kind of dance show? Sounds like fun! I used to be in the band in high school and we put on two concerts a year (and marched at football games). I always loved the Christmas concerts the most.

Well, I have to run. Work is piling up. And of course, there are those unwrapped and unsent gifts to be dealt with. Forget the Christmas cards -- that's just setting the bar far too high for me!

Have a great day, everybody!

Hi everyone,

Yes, it's me. I caught the baby's cold/flu/whatever it was plus I was in an exercising funk. I am feeling better. I did The Firm Pump, Jump and Jab yesterday and today is Cathe's Core work. I finally blew up my stability ball so I can do the entire disk.

I hope everyone is okay.

Ronne - what is your avatar? I cannot make out the picture.

Murph

Hello everyone

Did a BM2 premix today, Bootcamp. It's my favourite premix because it splits everything up and so it doesn't seem so hard!

Murph - glad you're recovering from your flu/whatever. What do you think of the stability ball?
My avatar is an Ood from the UK TV series Dr Who. I look like this most mornings! :p

Kathryn - I know what you mean about this time of year! It's crazy isn't it? And even worse when someone gets ill - then you have even more work to do. Well done for still fitting the workouts in! At least that gives you some stress relief.
What instrument did you play? It's always interesting to hear about Catheites hidden talents! Our show was just all the classes from our local dance school - no great spectacular but it was fun!

bye for now

HI All

Just trying to catch up with my checkins and its been crazy - so sorry I've not been around much lately.

Lisa
sounds like you are thoroughly enjoying your rotation this month - what are your results thus far? I may end up doing that rotation soon.

Good for you on that party too bad your boss was not able to make it but at least you were able to meet the other staff members.

Ronne I am having a very hard time staying around checkins and doing personals ATM

Kathryn Low Max is nice, I agree sometimes the joints don't care for all the jumpy stuff.

As far as the holiday stuff well I decided to not bother anymore I have not been feeling well at all have a child with a case of flaring asthma and thankfully the kids presents are accounted for but cards and such I just don't have the motivation to sit down and fill any out Honestly I'm sure others are in the same boat as we haven't rec'd much this year but I do try to reciprocate the cards that are sent to us that same day.

Murph
glad you are feeling better. Colds /flu can really do a number on our workout routines eh?

I doubt I'll be around much next week as the kids will be off from school and well its christmas week and I'll do my best to be online.

Talk to you all later :)

Ronne, I played flute in band; also piano (classical). I'm so out of practice after all of these years that I probably couldn't manage "Mary had a little lamb." Marching band was a huge challenge for somebody who barely knows left from right (I have no side dominance), so consequently I struggled to play and march and balance my music and keep in line ... the horror!

Maybe I'll try your BM2 premix tomorrow. I've never done it, but am so impressed that you actually do BodyMax! I've done it a couple of times -- really like the step but think it's the workout that never ends.

Murphy, you get all of my sympathy today! These children drag home every germ in the world and dump them on mom, don't they? Mine just keep getting sick, and now DH is sick, too! We're supposed to go on vacation after Christmas and I don't know if we'll all be well enough to go anywhere. I always get sick this time of year, but this year seems especially bad.

Last year my infectious disease specialist told me to avoid being around too many children and I just laughed at him. What am I supposed to do -- sell them on eBay? Anyhow, he gave me a pneumonia shot and I came down with laryngitis a few days later.

Frankly, I think I should stay away from doctor's offices. They're filled with germs and sick people!

Well, I'm glad to hear that at least you're getting some exercise in. I hate having to miss my workouts -- adding insult to injury (or illness).

Off to work -- don't want to get fired for goofing off!

Hi Everyone! Well, I did iTread25 today, 3.75 miles in 37:30. I mentally had to push myself to get started, seems it's always that way when I run. I wanna do it, I know it'll feel good, it's just getting started that makes me delay.

Vilma,
I only sent 3 cards this year to aunts. That's all I'm doing even if I get some in the mail from people I haven't sent to. This holiday I've cut back on doing a lot (less decorating, less baking, less cards). I don't know if it's the economy making people do this or what. As far as the cards go, I'm taking a green approach....I'm doing it for the environment. Whatever works :p

Kathryn, if you can sell kids on ebay, maybe I can sell my sisters!;) No matter what, they always like to kick me down a notch or 2.

Murphy, glad you are feeling better, stay well!

Ronne, I've never done that premix either, I need to try that someday. I love BM2 but it can go on and on and on....

Hellos to whomever else is out there too...wonder when Mary gets back?

Hi all,

Thanks for the well wishes, they are helping, I feel better today. I did TracieLongTraining, Finding Your Core. I really did not want to get up but I did and I feel better for it. I will probably do the rest of the TLT series this week, there is not a lot of jumping or heavy weights involved. I hope to be 100% soon and can tackle a Cathe. Anway, happy exercising to all and well vibes to everyone for the rest of the holiday season.

Ronne - thanks for the avatar info. That has been driving me crazy. I have seen Dr Who but never watched it closely. Now I will have to pay attention.

Hi everyone

Murph - glad to hear you're feeling better and managing to get some exercise in. The TLT stuff sounds just perfect.

Lisa - I'm with you on the relaxed preparations this year. I was going to get something ready made for our Christmas dinner. I usually make a nut roast for the veggies (including me) and I just didn't want to bother. However, I find I don't like the taste of most ready meals so am looking for something quick and simple.

Kathryn - the way you describe marching band does make it sound really tricky! How did you balance your piano?!! :D
I highly recommend the Bootcamp premix. I never do BM2 all the way through as it's just too much!
Hope you're all well enough to go away. Where are you planning to go?

Vilma - I don't blame you for cutting back especially with illness. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Well, today I was supposed to go to the hairdresser's but she was off sick! It was actually quite good because it meant I got some more work in and fitted in a workout I didn't expect to get. I did an Amy Bento KB premix which got me seriously sweating!

Got a busy evening. DD is in a school carol concert at church and then after I'm going to meet my best friend for cocktails and dinner and the ceremonial handing over of presents! I'm looking forward to a good chat, good food and good wine!

bye for now!

Hi ladies! Not too much to say today. I did the 4DS Back/Bicep premix--TWICE! And then C&W abs. I remember doing CW abs the first time thinking I'd never be able to do it.....now I sail (er, maybe not sail) through it!

Keep on exercising!

Okay, I got through Muscle Max today. It's my 7th day in a row working out, but I wanted to move my day off to Thursdays (so I can have Christmas off)! Yeah, I got through it, but glad to have a day off tomorrow.

Ronne, we're going to the Bahamas after Christmas. Atlantis at Paradise Island. A nice place, lots of fish (to see and to eat!), and warmer weather than here. I'm looking forward to escaping for a while and hoping that everybody in the family can get (and stay) healthy enough for the trip.

Lisa, I'd recommend selling the sisters on eBay, but it sounds like nobody would buy them! I don't like to hear that they cut you down. I know someone like that. She's like a jellyfish ... you can't really say where it's coming from, but you know something is hurting you! She's very sly with the remarks, but they hurt nonetheless. I try to steer clear of people like that. Who needs it? Harder when it's family, though. Maybe you can casually challenge them to a little kickboxing or something ...

Well, I am so tired and just have to go to bed before I fall asleep on my keyboard. Keep up with the workouts and stay healthy, everybody!

Hi everyone! It seems like you have all been so busy! It is that time of year. We had such a nice time, it was so good just to spend time alone together, like when we were first dating, I loved every minute. We didn't lose too much, I just do the slots, the tables scare me! Now we are running around, getting ready for the big day! And back to the w/o's! Kathryn, your vacation sounds wonderful! I hope it will be warm and sunny for you! Vegas was cold with some snow and rain! Lisa, You are doing such a good job with that rotation! Sorry about your sisters, I'm an only child, so not too much drama for me, tho, I do wish I could have had some siblings. Ronne, hope that you had fun last night, I love nights out with my friends. Murphy, hope that you are feeling better. Hi to you Vilma, I need to go workout and then start my day. I hope you all have a great day. Might not be around much, the kids will be off starting tomorrow and lots of hoopla starting! Mary

Hi everyone

I managed a B&G premix today. I'm feeling like my legs/butt need a bit of extra work at the moment so am concentrating on my lower half a bit more.

Kathryn - I am so envious. How lovely! Keeping my fingers crossed that you're all well enough to go. Well done on the workouts as well! Just watch yourself though and don't get too carried away!

Mary - sounds like you had a great time in Vegas. It's hard to imagine it with snow!

I'm going to sign off for a couple of weeks now. DD finishes school tomorrow and I'm finishing work for a fortnight. I won't be working out much (if at all)!

Just want to wish everyone a Happy Christmas whatever they're doing and I'll 'see' you all in 2009!

Howdy!

Checking in with another workout. :D You all have to try this FF rotation. Today was 4DS Legs and Calves and BG floorwork.

Ronne, enjoy your DD visit! My DS19 has been off from school for a week now and we've had nice mother/son times. My other DS16 will be out of school tomorrow.

Kathryn, ooooooooooooooh Bahamas....nice! Ah, laying on the beach feeling the warm salt air, hearing the ocean....heaven.....I say this as we have yet another frigid cold front coming in....last one we were -15 as a low and 3 as a high....brrrrrr..... did I say the Bahamas sounds like heaven? As for the sisters, well, um, let's see, my Mom always said "if you can't say something nice don't say it at all", either they missed that lesson or thought it didn't apply to family. I try to 'consider the source'...yes another Mom saying, gosh I miss her.

Mary, welcome back! It's hard to imagine Vegas that cold. When we were there you couldn't touch the escalator hand rail because you would get burned....I found out what 115 felt like . Sounds like you had a nice time.

Hellos to everyone else, have a great day!

Hi everyone,

Today is a rest day but reading all of your messages inspires me to do something. I always forget about the premixes. If the kids cooperate (hahahahaha) I will try to squeeze something in. Wish me luck.

Murph

HI to all!

Its an insane time of year!!! I love it, but its sooo busy. I havn't checked in for a bit. And I need to!

Lisa - I agree with katherine sell 'em on ebay.
Ronne If I am not too late, Merry Christmas, stay safe and hopefully santa brings you lovely pressies.

Katherine - You are going to the Bahamas???:eek: You lucky thing!
Mary - Correct me if I am wrong, isn't Las Vegas the dessert?

Need some help. Been struggling a bit lately with headaches, hot flushes, night sweats. Thast o.k, I can deal. BUT I can't deal with a super super quick PMS cycle. 14 days!! 14 Days? WTF! Is that something I should worry about? Or is it perfectly "normal" in the pre menopausal stage. Please give me some advice, I'm fairly stressed about this. My cylces have shortened, over the past year, but to 14 days? (this is the first 14 dayer I've had)

Thanks.

Hey all ! I did 4DS chest, shoulders, triceps premix -- TWICE ! :D That was tough and my arms are still shaking that I can hardly type!

Andrea, I think that after the cycles start to shorten then they become erratic. Like one type 14 days, and one time 2 months. Maybe that is where you are at? I haven't hit that point yet, I'm still in the shortened phase (went from 32 days to 27-28 days). I'm 44, how old are you again?

Murphy, go Murphy go! Woo hoo!

Hellos to everyone else, I must go as I'm having trouble typing. ;)

Hey All,

Today is another TLT day, Endurance for movement. I ran around and danced with the kids yesterday and they rewarded me by letting me sleep. I can definetly feel the difference. Have a great weekend everyone.

Murph

I need to complain!

Sorry girls, but I need to vent. Both of my children are sick -- again. Son has been throwing up since yesterday; daughter just developed diarrhea. I was supposed to go to the holiday get-together for Atlanta Cathe fans tonight, but now I'm going to be staying home, taking care of sick kids and washing so much laundry that I may never finish.

This has been probably the worst fall ever for my family, health-wise. :(

I hope you are all staying healthy and fitting in your workouts. At least I'm able to do that (did LowMax this morning; KB Way yesterday morning).

Well, off to take care of the kids. Just stopped by to whine for a moment!
